His interview had gone as good as he hoped, and if the tea had helped or not, well, that part didn't really matter. Sayu did something nice for someone, and he hoped that they were better for it. But now he had another appointment, and once again it was in the middle of the afternoon, when the sun was at it's highest and hottest. So, hoping the good karma followed him, not only has he a little early (rather than late as he had been for the interview), but he had three trays of the medium sized iced tea he had gotten before.
Sayu didn't doubt that Holly took care of her staff, but a treat didn't hurt now and then did it? It certainly helped morale when it was so stinking hot like it was. So the young man carefully put his own drink in the top most tray, shifting the load on his arm as he arrived to the main door of the lab. Precious cargo settled and balanced, a hand was lifted to ring the doorbell. And once the door opened he smiled brightly.
"Hello, I'm Sayu Akiyama. I'm here for my appointment, I'm a bit early, I hope that isn't a problem? I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time so I could share these with you all." Sayu explained, carefully maneuvering the top most tray into his hand again to offer it to the worker who had opened the door. And if they took it, making sure he took his own drink back before it got too far.

The worker that had answered the door was a bespectacled woman with large, round frames clad in a labcoat over a neat pencil skirt and blouse. The moment she spotted Sayu her expression turned starry-eyed, and after stammering out a flustered "t-thank you!!!" she took the proffered trays and immediately scurried off to get the professor. The low murmur of voices could be heard as the iced tea was, presumably, distributed, and if Sayu were to look doubtless he would take note of the eyes peeking out at him from the sudden... abundance of women that had suddenly arrived. Who knew there were so many female lab assistants?
Regardless, it wasn't long until the professor herself arrived, a cup of coffee in tow as she pored over a few notes on a clipboard. She didn't carry a cache of pokeballs as was the norm, and as she made her way to Sayu she observed him over rim of her glasses.
"Sayu Akiyama? You're early." Her tone was purely business-like, and perhaps it was because of that that the aides that had gathered conspicuously at the nearest desks began to disperse. It was worth noting that there were suddenly a few more cups of iced tea laying around.
The Professor made her way over to a velvet lined box and opened it, taking out the pokeball within.
"As you've already made your choice, we have your pokemon prepared for you."
There was a flash of light, Professor Holly revealing the pokemon within.
Ah, the lady seemed to really enjoy the idea of a cool drink! That or she was just flustered by the tall young man in front of her, hard to say. But Sayu was going to say that she was just taken aback by his kindness.
"You're very much welcome." Sayu spoke warmly, smiling and nodding his head. If she needed help with the trays, she didn't say anything though Sayu was still happy to help if she needed it. He stopped hovering once the trays wre down, and all the lab ladies wre grabbing their own drink. Was all the staff female? Nothing wrong with that, girl power all the way! Sayu just chuckled to himself, it was a good thing he hadn't seriously considered being a lab assistant. He didn't want to ruin the cool thing they had going on.
And there was the Professor herself, though how she could be drinking a warm cup of coffee right now was beyond Sayu's understanding. Just more proof that Professor Holly was a badass.
"That's me, I hope I didn't interrupt anything? I didn't want to risk being late." Sayu explained with a smile. The girls noting her tone and quickly dispersed. Sayu noting how most of them had a cup of iced tea now, and that was most definitely a flare of pride in his chest. One little thing and he might have just made someone's day. Now that was a good feeling.
His attention went back to the Professor as she made to grab the ball that held his partner. He was going to finally meet the Cyndaquil he asked to start with. Well, not a specific Cyndaquil, just the fact that he asked to start with a Cyndaquil. And now he was meeting them.
And there was the signature flash of light before it formed into the Pokemon in question. Though maybe he was a bit shocked at her size. The fire mouse was definitely a bit bigger than your average Cyndaquill.
"Cynda?" She questioned as Sayu knelt a little more to her level.
"Hello, my name is Sayu. It's nice to meet you." He offered his hand, which the Cyndaquil took after a brief moment of hesitation. "I was hoping you'd be my first Pokemon, so what do you say? Will you join me?" Sayu asked, not wanting to take an unwilling Pokemon. The Cyndaquil seemed to contemplate the question for a moment.
"Quil!" She responded, holding her arms upwards. Sayu smiled brightly and picked her up. At least she wasn't too heavy to carry, though it might turn into a bit of a workout down the line.
"Thank you! We'll make quite the pair! I just know it!" Sayu exclaimed happily, spinning them around while holding the Cyndaquil tight. He stopped only when he started to feel dizzy, and the Cyndaquil most definitely was by her soft squeaks. Sayu chuckled, patting her head gently.
Then his attention went back to the Professor. "Thank you Professor! Does she already have a name?" Sayu asked before thinking of his own, though he definitely had something in mind.
Professor Holly shook her head at Sayu's apology, taking a moment to have another sip of coffee before continuing. "There's no need to apologize. Punctuality is always appreciated." Better to arrive early than to arrive late and have people's schedules shifted aside to accommodate you. There were times when it had happened in the past and her lab assistants had had to work extra hard to keep up with their piling caseloads. But that was a tale for another time.
As Sayu and the Cyndaquil became acquainted with one another, Professor Holly watched all these goings on with an observant gaze, watching as man and pokemon went through the motions of introductions. When it appeared there were no objections on the part of the pokemon, Holly gave a brisk nod and allowed herself a small smile. It was always reassuring to see a new trainer catch on well with their first pokemon. It spoke well of their future.
"She does not. Consider giving her a nickname, but it is by no means not required." She turned, then, setting the coffee on a nearby desk and picking up a bag loaded with a few supplies. These she offered out to Sayu, waiting a moment or two before speaking.
"Here are some items to help you on your journey. Do you have any additional questions for me?"
Well, at least he hadn't interrupted anything by early. Granted, it didn't seem like this appointment was going to take too long, though he also didn't know if they scheduled people back to back, or 15 to 30 minutes apart. Though did they really get that many trainers a day? Though, they surely had other work they did. Either way, the potential to interrupt something was still there. And Sayu was glad to hear that he hadn't gotten in the middle of something.
"I think I already have something in mind. But if she already had a name, I didn't want to confuse her. But with that in mind, I think I'll name her Vermillion, Millie for short. How does that sound?" Sayu offered, looking to the fire mouse in his arms. She didn't seem to have any complaints, she was getting a chance to get out and do something more fun than sit inside all day. Vermillion was a cool name at least. She squeaked an affirmative, and Sayu smiled.
And now he had his starting supplies too, all that was left was actually getting out there! He was already so eager to do so. His mom supposedly had a gift to help him. "Thank you, but I think I'm pretty good. Been studying for awhile and looking forward to hitting the ground running and just getting out there you know? Thank you again, I'll get going before I over stay my welcome." Sayu was all smiles, as usual really, but he looked for the lady who had opened the door and gave her a wink and a nod. One stop at home so his mom could meet Millie, he get whatever gift she had for him, then he was heading out for a route!
