Just as Theo finished wiping away the dust from the prankful Stantler he heard a voice, cheery and sure come from behind him.
”I could have told you that would happen.”
Theo turned to see a man, in an odd hat, standing a few feet behind him. He certainly held himself with an air of importance and held his chin high in the air. His hands waved out and he closed his eyes in intense concentration as he hummed loudly.
”I receive messages from the beyond. At the low price of ₽4.99 a minute.” His eyes remained closed and he continued to move his arm in opposite circles as he twisted where he stood in some kind of strange yoga pose. Theo was unimpressed. Rising slowly from his knees he pulled out a cigarette, lit the end and turned to leave the man in a cloud of smoke. Toxer stood staring at the strange figure with a cocked head for a moment before following suit. It was only when the man opened his eyes and realized he wasn’t being followed that he jumped to attention and ran off after them.
”WAIT! Don’t you want to know your future!” He waved his arm to a fro and he ran to catch up only a moment later. The prideful look on his face now one of desperation. ”Does it all work out in the end? Do you become the Champion? A billionaire? Do you find the love of a beautiful woman? A handsome man?”
He rattled off a list of practiced statements meant to tantalize and draw in the weak willed. At least to annoy them enough to pay him for his services. But Theo knew the type. Soon as he agreed to pay the man would start talking in circles hoping Theo wouldn’t notice his wordy statements burning away his time.
”Not interested.” Theo smoke through a drag of his cigarette, hands shoved deep into the pockets of his hoodie. Half-lidded eyes blinking ahead and not offering the psychic so much as a sideways glance.
”No? I do tarot cards?” That got Theo to toss him a sideways glance a statement of ‘really?’ before shaking his head and pressing forwards faster. Toxer’s smaller legs started to struggle to keep up.
”Battle? You could battle right?”
”Dude! I appreciate the hustle. But we just finished a hard battle, I’m tired, hungry. My team’s probably the same. Let’s just go our separate ways and hey. I promise. You catch up to me next time I’ll let you read my love lines.” Theo held up his palm and blinked at the man for a moment. The psychic seemed to take a moment to process the statement. Seeming to try to think of several counter arguments but they were each met by Theo slowly shaking his head.
”Fine. But I TRIED to warn you. Just make sure you duck.” The psychic stuck his nose in the air and marched up the road, leaving Theo to stare off after him in confusion. He looked at Toxer before shrugging at the omen.
