A breeze went through Cathryns Hair as she left Birch City towards route 7. The morning sun was shining, only rarely blocked by a passing cloud. A perfect day to do some exploring. And some training, obviously. And if she was lucky, she might even find the perfect pokemon for the next contest.

Walking through the grassy fields, Cathryn let Princess and Silver out of their pokeballs. For now, the two of them could play a bit. Training would come later. Giving her pokemon a bit of downtime was just as important as training after all.

She couldn’t help but smile as she watched the two start a game of catch, running circles and zigzags through the grass. They had been inseparable ever since they had been born. Both so different in their mindsets, yet also so similar in many things. She really wanted to win her first contest together with the two of them.

As she was walking, Cathryn felt a slight tug on her shoulder bag. Barely noticeable, but it was there. Turning around, she suddenly saw herself face to face with a young man who had obviously been trying to steal her stuff, one of her potions in his hand. For a second, they both stood there dumbstruck.

Then the man turned on his heels and bolted for it. “Shit.” Cathryn exclaimed, running after him. “Princess, Silver, stop that guy!” He was fast. But not as fast as her and the two eevees. Princess reached him first, tackling him over. Silver was there only moments later, helping her out, leaving Cathryn enough time to snatch the potion back.

Unfortunately, the two eevees were not enough to keep the man to the ground and he managed to shake them off before bolting away again. For a moment Cathryn considered chasing after him again, but decided against it. Who knows where he might be running. They might run straight into some friends of his. But she would make sure to give police his description once she returned to birch city.

She looked at the two eeves. “Thanks you two. You did really well there.” Returning the potion into her bag, she grabbed some of the treats she brought along for the eevees and gave them to the two.

Princess and Silver perked right up when they saw the treats. Cathryn couldn’t help but chuckle. No matter how exhausted those two were, once their favourite treats were available, those two were capable of a surprising amount of speed.

Yet as the two were eating their treats, Cathryn noticed something else moving nearby. A white Vulpix, peeking out from behind a bush with an inquisitive expression. Maybe it got attracted by the noise from earlier? But wouldn’t wild pokemon usually run away from such a commotion? Then again, this one seemed to be really curious about her. Or it just wanted some treats as well. Only one way to find out.

Taking another treat out of her bag, Cathryn called over to the Vulpix. “You want one as well?” Saying this, she offered the treat to the pokemon. The Vulpix only hesitated a moment before approaching. As it was munching on it’s treat, Cathryn smiled. “I think you would make a perfect addition to our team. Do you want to join us?” While saying this, she offered the Vulpix a pokeball.

It seemed like the Vulpix didn’t want to come along. Then again, it didn’t run away either. It just stayed there, looking at Cathryn. Maybe it wasn’t convinced yet? “I think you would get along really well with Princess and Silver.” she said, pointing at the two eevees which were watching them curiously. “I’m sure they want to be your friends. And I would like to be your friend too.” Saying this, she held out her hand to pet the Vulpix, if it would accept to do so.

The pokemon stayed where it was, seemingly unsure on whether to come closer to Cathryn or not. Cathryn smiled at it. “You see, the three of us want to make beautiful shows that everyone likes to watch. And I think you would fit right in with us.” Saying this, she offered the pokemon an ultraball. Maybe it would like this one more?
