Ah, Pine Town, Marley's second home as it were. He had come here often enough, to work in the mines. Unlike in Birch, where he was known as a troublemaker, Marley had a bit more respect here. He was a pretty damn good miner, and his Steelix certainly helped with digging out the tunnels. Yeah, it certainly was a different picture here in Pine.
At the moment, they were digging out some new tunnels, so Marley was to help reinforce them, dig them out, and keep them steady, so that they wouldn't collapse. First off, he would need to bring in the wooden supports. In the meantime, he had Ironton using his large bulge to hold the tunnel ceilings up.
It seems that Irontron is having trouble holding up the ceiling of the tunnel! Some of the dirt in a nearby area begins tumbling down, and if you don't hurry more of the roof could collapse!
He didn't know what was up with Ironton today. The big guy was having a hard time keeping the roof up. Marley's eyes widened as dirt started coming down. Thankfully there wasn't anyone in the tunnel at the moment, so if it came down, Ironton would just have to dig himself out. But, it just wouldn't look good, after all.
S^#%, s$#@, s&^$, s^%$#!" Marley cussed, quickly rushing in, holding the beams up on his shoulder. "Try to keep it up big guy. Keep it up!" He needed to move quickly, at least get some sort of support up to keep the tunnel from collapsing on them.
You are just barely not fast enough to get it together and half of the tunnel collapses. Only half because Ironton is still holding up the other half by his size alone.
"Dammit!" Marley cursed out as the tunnel collapsed. Well, damn. This was certainly a pain in the ass. Sure, the rest of the tunnel was still standing, and nobody got hurt. That was a plus. But now it meant they would need to dig out the rest of the tunnel all over again. Marley let out a small sigh, looking over at Ironton. "It's ok mate. S^%# happens." Well, if they were going to redig the tunnel, he should at the very least support what was still standing. Taking the beams, and with Ironton holding the tunnel up, he began putting in the supports.
Marley gave a small sigh of relief. Well, at least they were able to save some of the tunnel. As Ironton eased off the now supported ceiling, Marley turned his attention to the collapsed portion of the tunnel. They would need to dig it back out before they can move on. "Alright, you know the drill Ironton," he said. The massive Steelix nodded, still a little embarrassed he had allowed the tunnel to collapse in the first place. With his massive bulk, he started burrowing into the earth, moving aside the fallen rocks and dirt to excavate the tunnel once again. Marley waited off to the side, more support beams at the ready.
Well, that worked out better than expected. Sure, it wasn't as good as it once was, but at least the tunnel had been dug back out. They can worry about clearing it out properly when it was clear the tunnel wasn't going to collapse again. "Ok, hold it steady Ironton," Marley instructed, as he slowly pulled the support beams over to the freshly excavated tunnel. Taking great care not to accidently collapse the tunnel again, Marley went to work, trying to put up the beams to make sure it stayed up this time. All the while, Ironton kept the tunnel's ceiling up.
Lucky! It seems to job of holding up the beams is really hard, and your pokemon seems to be struggling a lot, but for now, they stay up up- and nothing bad happens!
"There. That should do it." It had taken some work, and it had gotten pretty shakey for a bit, but finally, Marley had managed to put up the supports, keeping the tunnel up. No more collapsing for this section of the mine! Ironton laid on the ground, glad to finally be done for now.
He took a step back to catch his breath. Ok, now to start getting the tracks up here. After all, mining's easier when there's a minecart to dump the ore into. "Ok, take a rest big guy," Marley said, calling him back into his ball. He turned, heading towards the entrance of the tunnel. There should be some rails all ready for him to start laying down.
The tunnel remains standing and all is well. Tracks are already set out and ready to be hammered in. Oh, it looks like someone already started on the rails. Lucky you!
Marley couldn't help but smile. Well, someone had already started the work for him. How nice of them? So all Marley would need to do is hammer the rails in. Shouldn't be too hard. Just aim up the spikes and hammer away!
Picking up a couple of rail spikes and the hammer, he knelt down beside the laid rail. He carefully took aim, raising the hammer up before bringing it down hard onto the spike with a loud 'clang'! The sound of steel hitting steel echoed out throughout the mine, as Marley worked on securing the rails to the mine floor.
Man, what was up with Marley today? Hammering spikes into rails shouldn't be this hard. He had done this before after all. He paused, shaking his head lightly, as if trying to get his head together. First the tunnel and now this. He must be having an off day or something. Well, after this, he could take a break. He had been pushing himself lately, what with the pokemon training and everything.
He took a few deep breathes before grabbing the next spike, this time taking the time to aim carefully at it. After all, hitting your own hand with this hammer would really hurt.
Ok, now this was more like it! Now to keep up this rythm. Marley hammered spike after spike into the ground, slowly but surely extending the tracks out into the tunnel. He would only stop once he got close to the far wall. After all, the tunnel still needed to be dug some more after all. Marley had thought for a moment of bringing Ironton back out, but thought against it. After all, with the tunnel as unstable as this, having a massive Steelix here might cause some problems.
Instead, he'd have to do this the old fashioned way. Grabbing a pickaxe, Marley started to dig.
Your luck seems to run out! Or maybe the fates just don't want you digging today. As you take the pickaxe to the wall in an attempt to extend the tunnel, you end up getting a little more than you bargained for. One particular swing ends up being a bit too much for the wall and it collapses. Thankfully it doesn't cause the tunnel to fall apart, but... you ended up causing a few wild Sandshrew to fall into the tunnel and they aren't very happy.
Marley blinked and then jumped back as the wall he struck crumbled away, only for some Sandshrew to suddenly roll out onto the floor. Well, this had certainly been a first. Yeah, they had occasionally discovered pokemon tunnels while mining, but to have some just fall out like this. Marley blinked, looking down at them.
And then saw the glares the little pokemon were giving him. What followed next was the little rodents leaping at him, Marley letting out a shocked cry as he tried to fight off the little rodents. He swung the pickaxe around wildly, trying to drive them off.
Your wild flailing only seems to agitate the Sandshrew more, and you don't manage to hit a single one of them. Instead, two of them leap at your pickaxe, causing you to drop it. One stands on the handle of the axe and the others cluster around you in a loose half-circle, waving their arms and squealing.
