He’d been right there. Sir Swellow had been right there right in front of them as they found the place to walk across and then start moving— and then he was gone. It happened in the blink of an eye, and Sid didn’t even get a chance to grab him, to yell, to do anything but stand there hand partially out, eyes wide.
“Come back….” It was a quiet plea. “Please come back….” Sid felt their eyes watered, and they stood there for a moment in silence. Sir Swellow was..… he was fine. He had to be fine, right? This was just a huge puzzle, a game, a LARP but played out over Halloween and with Pokemon controlling things. He was fine. He was fine. He was fine. They were sure of it.
Then why were they crying? Sid pulled off their helmet and rubbed their face wishing they had considered water proof makeup right then. He’s fine. He’s fine. He’s fine. He’ll be at the etrance or something…. That still left them there with such a strange, shaky, upset feeling that they kind of just wanted to jump in after him. But they didn’t. Instead, they slowly started to move forward again feeling over the ground and… managing to get to the end somehow.
The next room was right there, and they pulled on their helmet again and stepped through. This one was…. crowded. Full of pumpkins, and weirdly happy for what had just happened. Sid sighed as they tried to maneuver on through.

The Pumpkaboo are thrilled you didn't squish any of their friends! They're so happy they give you 5 Rare Candies! Please update your bag. Onto the next room!
Congratulations! You have advanced to the sixth room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room that looks bigger than it should. In front of you is a pit you cannot see the bottom of. Jutting up from the pit are stone pillars arranged in a 4x4 grid, with just enough space between them that it's possible to fall, but even a clumsy person should be able to jump between them with enough ease.
The tops of the pillars seem to have one glowing button each, and are engraved with images. The row of 4 on the far left side of the room depicts witch hats. The mid-left 4 depict moons. The mid-right 4 depict bats. The far right 4 depict pumpkins. At the front of the room is a backlit plaque with four pictures: A leaf, a wolf, an open set of fangs, and a broom, in that order.
Special note: Staff characters must roll a special die and get 30 or higher for their character to figure out the puzzle, since they know the answer.
Slowly, fluidly, Sid made their way through the pumpkin patch. Their sight was good enough to allow them to see where to put their feet, and their dexterity was just good enough to actually get there. As they got to the end, they managed to smile weakly at the pumpkaboo and take the candies offered to them. On to the next room. I really hope he’s ok… Sid shook their head and focused on the task at hand.
Oh. Oh no. Another pit into the abyss. Sid fidgeted and looked around for the sign. A leaf, a wolf, a set of fangs, and a broom? Their eyes flicked back to the four by four grid right after. OH. Leaf is pumpkins. Wolf is moons. Bats and fangs. Broom is witch. Ok, that sounded about right. Quickly they hopped up onto the pillars and started pressing things in order.
All the pillars light up, and the door opens. You guessed correctly! Onto the next room!
Congratulations! You have advanced to the seventh room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room filled with cobwebs and spider Pokemon. You must navigate the webs to get through the room. There is a long table in the middle of the room. On top of the table, there are three candy bowls, and a sign reading "Choose 1". The bowl on the left has a live Joltik atop it. The bowl in the middle has a creepy hand sticking out of it. The bowl on the right has a cobweb atop. Pick a bowl. Roll one die at the end of your post.
A small smile came and went from Sid’s features as everything lit up. That wasn’t too hard… I wonder if this is as deep as— Sid shook their head and was quick to get down from the pillars again. Walking through to the next door, they found themselves in a spidery room with a table. A Joltik, a hand, or a cobweb. Sid eyeballed the hand and the cobweb for a moment before looking back to the Joltik. Better an enemy they could see than one they couldn’t. Slowly reaching forward, Sid aimed to claim whatever was in there.
The Joltik tries to bite you, but you are agile enough to move out of the way. The Joltik scurries off, allowing you to take 2 Rare Candies. Onto the next room!
Congratulations! You have advanced to the eighth room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room lit by a single torch in its center. Six candles line the walls. On the left wall is a green, a red, and a purple candle. On the right wall is a yellow, an orange, and a blue. Each candle is also labeled for the colorblind. A backlit plaque reads: "Do not fear the storm. It comes after."
Special note: Staff characters must roll a special die and get 30 or higher for their character to figure out the puzzle, since they know the answer.
Sid wriggled their fingers just enough to avoid the bite of the Joltik. Snatching up what was inside, they noted the candy, pocketed it, and headed onwards. How much longer was this, they had to wonder. Coming to another room still, they couldn’t help the small, faint smile that pulled onto their lips as their eyes bounced around across the various torches. They were… very beautiful, actually. Don’t fear the storm… A rainbow comes after… That had to be it. Arranging the various torches in the ROYGBIV format that they learned in school, Sid waited for the response.
The door lights up with a rainbow glow before sliding open. Congratulations! Onto the next room!
Congratulations! You have advanced to the ninth room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room more brightly lit than the others. It looks like a child's room, and a soft melody plays. There are 3 creepy dolls sitting on a shelf in the middle of the room, with a box of doll clothes beneath them. The clothing options are: Doctor, Princess, Cowgirl, Ballerina, Unicorn Onesie, Superheroine, Fairy. A sign beneath the dolls reads: "Dress me!" Each doll has a riddle attached.
Doll 1: A maiden fair, with heart so pure. The bravest folk she does allure. With nary a wrinkle and not a pimple, her image is a status symbol.
Doll 2: Whimsy and wonder lie deep in her heart, and no untruths will she impart. Be careful, though, to listen well, for danger comes in an honest shell.
Doll 3: Across the plains and fields of green, she surely is a tough lil bean. With PokePartners she takes the lead, whether the 'mon are worker or steed.
Special note: Staff characters must roll a special die and get 30 or higher for their character to figure out the puzzle, since they know the answer.

As the door lit with rainbow color and slid open, Sid stepped back a moment and allowed their eyes to flicker from one torch to the next. It was beautiful. Shaking their head to clear it, they stepped onwards into the next— Oh holy Miltank that’s blinding— Sid squinted and shielded their eyes for a few moments until they could see clearly again.
This room was… soft but in a strangely uncomfortable way. Perhaps it was just the fact they had come through so many creepy places already. A soft breath in, a soft breath out. Alright. On—
Wards. As they saw the creepy dolls, Sid immediately fidgeted. Oh, ok, no this was still creepy. Bending down to inspect the shelf and then the clothes next to them, Sid muttered softly under their breath. “Why does it have to be creepy, though…” At least they had some clear instructions now. Dress up. Alright.
uKlrUWerp_
The first was easy enough: she had to be a princess being fair and pure. Carefully, Sid pulled the doll from the shelf and dressed her appropriately. The next was … a little more challenging to be sure, but the fairy costume made sense from the honesty comment. The last made Sid smile. “Gaki-chan would like this one….” Too bad they couldn’t take it along with them. Dressing up the last in a cowgirl outfit, Sid set each doll back in its place and waited.
You hear a sound of slightly creepy but happy laughter before the door slides open. Congratulations! Onto the next room!
Congratulations! You have advanced to the tenth room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room with walls lined with shelves containing all sorts of spooky oddities. To one side is a bubbling cauldron watched over by a Mismagius, and next to it a wrack of ingredients with a sign: "Complete the brew." Use the big wooden spoon to stir in ingredients, making a Cooking roll! All players work on it together.

The strange laugh forced an unexpected, strange laugh out of Sidney. A hand reached up and slapped itself over their mouth, and some color came and went from their features. W-well. Onwards. The sooner I get through… the sooner I can make sure he’s alright…. Sir Swellow, please be alright.
Coming into the next room, Sid immediately smelled whatever it was before they saw it. The brew had a certain odor they were vaguely familiar with, and a memory tried very hard to dig itself up again before being reburied again. Red eyes found the Mismagius, and a small smile came to Sid’s features. “Complete the brew….” Well, alright then, right? Slowly stepping over and smelling the aroma more carefully now, they hummed softly and walked over to the rack of ingredients.
…. “Oh bother….” Sid set their hands on their hips as they looked from one thing to the next. Everything was written in Common, not Kantonian, and they actually had no idea what was what now. Opening a few of them, they whiffed over the smells and selected a few before going to put them in the cauldron.
The Mismagius seems pleased with the brew! She takes a taste, then gathers 4 Rare Candies from one of her shelves to give you. Onto the next room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a long dining hall filled with ornate gleaming furniture and amazing massive paintings lining the walls. Unlike the rooms in the maze, this one feels warm, well-lit, and pristinely maintained, an oddity in what is supposed to be an abandoned home for sure! Several Pokemon come up to you and cheer, taking turns handing over items to you! When they are done, they cheer once more, then your world goes black and you feel like you're spinning. You are suddenly back at the entrance, your prizes still in hand. Seems you weren't welcome to stay long in that private space, but you can rest knowing you've achieved something, and probably seen a glimpse of a life in this house that few others have seen!
