Gabe wasn’t exactly sure how he had managed to get not one but two eggs recently. It was kind of a hassle to carry and run around with. At least he had an incubator for one of them in hopes that would spur on hatching soon. If not, he’d wasted five hundred pen and was going to be talking someone’s ear off soon. For now, though, he was aware that traveling supposedly encouraged eggs to hatch, and he needed to look into some Pokemon on Route 7 anyways.
So there he was on the longest Route in Arciel riding Clopper for some extra speed. He might normally have taken his bike, but the roads had become too icy recently for that to be a safe traveling method. Instead, Clopper got a chance to run in the cool, and he got a free ride. Or kind of. This up and down motions he was doing as she was running was kind of jarring, but whatever for now.
…He hoped those eggs weren’t too shaken up by this.
They ran for a while before a particular smell caught Clopper’s ears. A small call came from her, and Gabe found himself leaning over to hear better. “Found something?” A Pokemon? A person? She couldn’t give specifics but gave a nod. Gabe nodded back. “Follow after it,” he stated, and she was quick to hop off the beaten path and head for the smell. Sure enough, they came across a bush that hadn’t been picked clean by winter’s touch. A surprised smile came to Gabe’s features as he eased off and walked over to it. “Hm…. Not bad,” he hummed picking them off the brush and storing them for later. Clopper, meanwhile, at a few straight off the bush.
The subtle crunch of snow underfoot had Gabe and Clopper freezing momentarily before turning in unison. What they would see was a Hitmonchan walking subtly through the snow, a bunch of berries in her arms. Gabe looked from her to Clopper and then back again before watching her walk down to a tree and set them down. A few small forest Pokemon scuttled down from the tree, thanked her, and then scuttled back up. She sighed, righted herself, and rubbed a gloved fist over her brow.
“How kind…” Gabe spoke without meaning to, and the Hitmonchan immediately turned to him, her glove raised. Gabe shifted from one foot to the other stepping more firmly between himself and Clopper. The Hitmonchan relaxed a little after that on seeing she was not about to be attacked. Nodding her head, she made a small call in greeting. “There are some berries here if you’d like,” Gabe gave a motion to the brush. The Hitmonchan hummed a little immediately starting to sift through what was there, picking out a few for herself and eating one.
Clopper ruffled her mane and body and stomped her foot once. She was ready to go now. Gabe looked back at her and then to the Hitmonchan again. “You’re very cute…” he spoke. She dropped her berries and looked sideways at him slowly. “Just saying.” Gabe winked. The Hitmonchan blushed and muttered something before bending down to reclaim her berries. “I have a Hitmontop….” Gabe fished out a Pokeball. “Would you like to meet him?” Hm? What was that? She supposed. As the Pokeball released and Rogue stood there lazily, the Hitmonchan tilted her head form one side to the other. What a strange Hitmontop to stand on both legs so calmly. She smiled and waved a hand at him. He shrugged and waved back.
“How about a sparring match?” Gabe offered. The Hitmonchan hummed but supposed that was fine. It would be good to clash with one of her brethren now and again to sharpen her skills. “How about you, Rogue?” Ugh was he really gonna do this? Fiiineeee.
It turned out even with his evolution strengthening him, the Hitmontop was no match for the Hitmonchan. She had far more ambition and raw strength, and he was far too lax. Still while she was distracted, Gabe threw a Pokeball.
A sharp very specific Arroian swear broke from Gabe as not only did the Hitmonchan break free, she immediately fled. “Hey lazy go after her!” he snapped at the Hitmontop, but the latter was far too tired and worn out from battle to bother. Slapping a hand over his face, Gabe breathed in… and breathed out. Fine. This was fine. He could feel Clopper nosing him a bit uncertainly, and absently he reached a hand back and pet her. Returning the Hitmontop after a moment, he climbed back on the Gogoat and headed off again. Fine, whatever. They’d continue on.
As they ran along the path, a particular song echoed through the snow, and Gabe found himself starting to lull. Clopper below him was slowing as well making uneasy noises in the process. Gabe jolted some and shook his head. That’s where that song was from. A Jigglypuff was around here somewhere. Fishing out a Pokeball, he released Frosty the Delibird up into the air. “Stay awake, fly around and knock out that sound,” Gabe ordered. On hearing the tune, Frosty immediately gave a salute.
As he floated around and found the Jigglypuff, however, Frosty would come across a strange sight. There was… a Jigglypuff singing and… a Munna floating around seemingly doing something to the past out viewers. This… this did not look good. He flew back over to Gabe who was leaning on Clopper now half asleep, the latter still trotting along slowly, and then made a small noise of frustrating on seeing them like that. Flying back, he swooped in tossing out a Present down on the Jigglypuff who immediately yelped out of the song.
Gabe and Clopper woke up quickly. The other Pokemon would take some time. “You see him, right?” Gabe commented pointing towards the Delibird who was now dropping attack after attack. The Gogoat nodded and clamored after.
The Jigglypuff was hit by multiple bombs and was crying now balled up in a defense curl. The Munna was shooting back Psychic attacks over and over again in the form of pink waves that Frosty flew about trying to dodge in turn.
As soon as they saw the fighting, Clopper threw out a Leech Seed and managed to seed the Munna. Gabe, meanwhile, took quick advantage to throw a Pokeball at the Jigglypuff. Weakened by the seeding and the bombs, the Munna cried out before fleeing.
A soft breath drew in and out of Gabe as the ball dinged in capture. Good enough for what I need it for… he hummed a little before giving Clopper a gentle pat on the neck in thanks. Frosty above them was doing a victory dance now and then flew around happily. “Good work, both of you. Would you like to stay out and fly around, Frosty?” Gabe called. The Delibird clapped his wings together. Yes! He loved the snow right now! “Alright,” Gabe spoke climbing back on Clopper again. “Keep up with us, then.” And with that, he was off.
They ran for a while until Frosty’s voice hit the air. “Hm?” Gabe’s head turned, and his eyes raised upwards before flicking in the direction the Delibird pointed in. “Alright that way then…” he murmured to Clopper who gave a curt nod and started running a bit faster. Over a short hill and then down it, they came upon… a strange scene. A small horde of Farfetch’d seemed to be group sparring one another. Right then, two were smacking each other with their long heavy leeks while the other three watched and judged with various cries and noises.
That doesn’t…. like right…. Gabe squinted not entirely sure why he thought that. Is it the coloring? Were they shiny? No, no, it was more in their movements than in their colors. The way they swung their weapons was much fiercer than any he’d seen before. Ah…. Maybe they’re a different form— Just as this thought hit Gabe, the group noticed him atop Clopper and turned to stare. Gabe stared back. Clopper blinked a couple of times and did her best to avoid their eyes. There was something about them that just… unnerved her.
One of the larger ones thrust her ‘blade’ forward and gave a cry. The others raised theirs briefly and cried a little quieter in turn. Gabe’s brow quirked. Clopper stomped her foot a couple of times stressfully. Hmmm I wonder… And then it hit him. Ah a challenge… Gabe smriekd. “Frosty, mind doing battle here?” he called up at the Delibird who gave a quick salute of assurance. Yes, yes he would do an aerial battle! The other Farfetch’d seemed to nod in agreement at this and moved to sit back and watch.
“Start with Ice Punch,” Gabe ordered. The Delibird flew in forming an Ice attack in his wing. What neither Pokemon nor trainer was ready for, though, was the Brick Break that formed on the Farfetch’d and clashed with the ice. Frosty yelped flying back startled. Gabe leaned in on Clopper for a moment. I see… The Farfetch’d smirked making a small wing gesture of challenge.
“… Try a Drill Peck instead…” Gabe ordered. The Delibird rushed forward and went with that. The sharp power of the Flying move had the Farfetch’d tripping back and crying out. So it is part Fighting Type hmmmmm…. Well that was interesting. He wanted one, or so Gabe decided. The Farfetch’d immediately started to perform a Sword Dance which only increased the intrigue of Gabe right then. “Present instead…” Gabe ordered. And the fight went on.
After a bit, Gabe threw an Ultra Ball aiming to snag the pesky Pokemon.
As the Pokeball dinged in capture, Gabe sighed softly and then immediately looked up and around at the other Farfetch’d. They were staring in silence each with a slightly different expression. As one stepped forward, gave a bow, and turned and walked, however, the others followed suit. Their friend had put up a valiant fight, and now it was time for her to keep going forward with a trainer. Gabe let out a small chuckle. He was glad not to have to fight them all. Climbing back onto Clopper again, he started onwards back towards the path again. Frosty took flight and followed after keeping an eye out for anything interesting.
It would be Clopper who noticed the Premier balls as she was running. Slowing down, she would stop short of stepping on them. Gabe, meanwhile, leaned over to see just what had caught her attention. “Oh?” Huh, what trainer dropped these? Oh well, his now. Gabe reached down dramatically to pick them up from the ground without getting off Clopper before sitting up again and pocketing the items. Well that was nice. “Good eye,” he murmured to the Gogoat who just smiled and stomped one foot in front of herself in pride. With that, though, they were off again down the path.
