Despite the snow flurries that would lazily fall from the sky Adian had set up camp at the beginning of route six. His four pokemon would stay nestled in their pokeballs inside his large tent. The tent itself was larger than he reasonably needed but the man enjoy the outdoors and having a large cozy room to retreat to was always nice.
Wrapped in his winter jacket, hat and gloves he looked like the proper outdoor man as he tended a rather too large camp fire. The night before he had built a rather impressive fire pit made out of rocks he found on the path. Having collected a ton of logs and sticks the fire had roared through the night and warmed the area nearby.
In fact there was a clear ring of grass around the fire pit, no snow being able to cling to the blades at the heat it emitted. A metal grate had been placed over the fire and three large fish were gently roasting above, descaled and prepped for eating once they finally cooked. A can of mixed veggies sat by his side, ready to be popped on the fire when it was time.
Adian sighed happily, snuggling his chin into the top of his jacket as he waited for his food to be finished. It had been quite some time since he had enjoyed camping and he felt right back into the easy routine.

Marcus Spinnaker, on the other hand, is still walking. This is his third time spending time on this route, and this time, he was taking his time. He wanted to actually plumb the mysteries of the route, rather than rush over it by bicycle looking for some trainer. Thus, he was taking his time, and examining every roadcut and streambed for any sign of fine gems and treasure. This had already payed off in the form of a few small rewards here and there, but overall, it was quite lacking.
Eventually he came to the top of a hill that he had been picking his way up, looking through the scree and rubble and while finding no gems, finding a number of fine delicate flowers that surprised him. Looking at the other side, he found that the hill plunged down much more steeply, with the bottom of the slope ending in what looked to be a campsite. Marcus recognized a tent and a campfire. Getting down this slope was going to be a lot more trouble than getting up the other side had been.
Marcus checked over his possessions, making sure that his pokeballs were secure (returning Perigee to hers), and making sure his egg (such a wonder, such a prize!) was secure in it's ball of blankets in his pack. Then he started picking his way down the steep slope. Marcus did well, until the few meters, where he slipped and tumbled, managing to drop himself right on top of the tent.
Out a ways, you hear the sounds of barking come and go, occasionally getting higher pitched before dropping again. They don't seem to be getting closer- for now.
So caught up in his moment of zen with the fish cooking, the lavish smells wafting from the fire pit that by the time Marcus would tumble down onto his tent he had only half turned with a confused look on his face. The lovely tent he had set up was now fallen, collapsed inwards. It took the red haired man a few moments to actually understand what he was seeing. One moment he had been alone in the wilderness, the next there was a fully grown man who had possibly destroyed his new tent.
A moment of anger flashed over him but he quickly let it pass as confusion and concern became the overriding emotions. "Hey, dude, you okay?" Adian said finally, quickly getting to his feet and rushing over to help pull the man up and off the tent as well as assess exactly what had just happened. In his mind he would settle up with the tent later. It had been a sort of luxury buy and he hoped the price tag meant it would be somewhat resistant to such accidents. If not... It wasn't like he had a bit of money stored away, or perhaps this guy would offer to pay for it?
As his mind swirled with questions he would faintly register the barking... And the the smell of burning. Before he was certain Marcus was on his feet and well Adian would turn on his heels and return to the fire pit where the fish he had been cooking charred on one side. "Ah, shit." He moaned, turning them over to see the damage had been done. Edible? Yes. Tasty? Not so much.
"I wasn't expecting a dinner guest to drop in," Adian said with a chuckle, rubbing the back of his head at the misfortune that had just befell him. Meanwhile the barking would continue at odd intervals, an odd sound on the formally quiet route. "You hear that?" Adian asked, turning his gaze towards the direction of the noise.

Adian Savage (It's quite alright. I've got plenty to go on with)
The man who had fallen stands and cleans off his suit, causing dirt and dust to slide cleanly off it without so much as a gesture, and then looks a little apologetic. "Sorry about your tent. I'll see if I can put it back together; it doesn't look like I broke through it or anything." He offers a hand "Marcus Spinnaker. Good to meet you. I've been doing some travelling geology around here, you know? This and that." Thus he tried to follow what he thought of as his strengths - be a good businessman, make introductions, try and repair his first impression and seem like the dignified sort he truly is.
After a moment of that, Marcus kneels down to check the contents of his pack, making sure nothing was broken. In particular, making sure his egg was fine. Fortunately, it looked like his body had broken his backpack's fall, and the rare egg was perfectly fine. So Marcus zipped everything back up. At this point, he looked back up at his new acquaintance. He cocks his head and listens for a bit. "Hmm. It sounds like it's a way off. Unless we hear any human voices, it's probably just some wild Pokemon hunting or some such. Probably not our problem?"
It was clear that Adian was more than dubious of the claims of the tent not being broken by the way it had collapsed in, but at least this random fellow hadn't been too hurt. As Marcus stepped aside and checked his own pack Adian would bend down and fiddle with some of the support poles he saw sticking through the top fabric of the tent. With a sigh he stood back up. "Maybe a bit broken but a bit of duct tape here and there should do..." Adian said absently, hoping he didn't look too crestfallen about the loss of the tent he had just bought.
It didn't seem as if the well dressed man had noticed and Adian let it slide for now as introductions were made. "Nice to meet you Marcus, I'm Adian Savage. Also travelling though I'm on a mission to capture some photos of the oddly colored pokemon in this region. Not the rare shinies, mind you... Oh, my camera!"
Before he could reach out to offer his hand to shake Adian would dive into the half propped up entrance of the tent and fish around inside the collapsed remains. Inside he would find his bag, fitted with his pokeballs, travel items and camera to be free of the damage.
Wiggling himself out backwards Adian would once again stand up and stretch, shouldering his backpack and glancing down at his ruined breakfast. However the barking would continue in the distance and he frowned. "Maybe not our problem but really odd... I've been out here all night and haven't heard anything like that. The snow sort of dampens the sound and it's been damned near silent all morning..." His voice trailed off as he surveyed the camp.
In his mind he worried a bit. Was it perhaps a wild pack of pokemon fighting? An injured pokemon... Possibly the rare colored 'mon he was hunting for being bullied? The barks echoed back to them again.
"Tell you what, you help me investigate those noises and I'll consider the camping tent issue forgiven, eh?" Adian said hopefully. His concern was replaced by a misguided hope. Having only just met Marcus had no idea how passionate he was about finding those pokemon - even if it put him in harms way.
"Well, if that's your price. I'm sure I can afford to take some time off my dusty old rocks to support you in this endeavor to aid your investigations." Secretly, Marcus is also interested, but normally he would not dare to provoke a group of angry Pokemon at his current level of skill. Maybe in ten levels or so... But with some co-operation, he was much more likely to survive whatever encounter there was out there intact and happy. In his mind, he took a moment to speculate about the possible things they might encounter; probably just a pack of wild Pokemon, but what kinda of pack hunters? Would they have a boss? Would they be hunting something rare. Clearly nothing as rare or wonderful as his egg, of course. He was very proud of the deals he had made to get it. "There is safety in numbers after all. Lead the way" He gestures towards the nice, sensible, exit to the campsite, and will follow Adian out of the camp.
Following after the sounds of barking, you would hear more and more movement through the area. The gentle crunch of snow under paws was audible now, as is the crunch of your shoes. Suddenly, you hear something running towards you, and in a flash you see it: a flash of orange, and a panicked looking Growlithe is running passed you. Will you chase after or it or perhaps see... what it is running away from?

Marcus is going to do the sensible thing. Well, no, first he's going to startle, mentally curse his inability to have visions when it would be *helpful*, go for his pokeballs, momentarily change his mind for one of his stronger but more recently caught mons, and *then* do the sensible thing, and turn to look for what it was running from. All in the course of ... well, only a few seconds surely. "Well, whatever you were looking for, I suspect we're going to find it. Got that camera of yours?" he snarks at his travelling companion, who is no doubt as startled as his is by the sudden development. Marcus holds his pokeball at the ready, but doesn't throw it just yet; who knows if he might need to run rather than fight.
Adian was secretly pleased the man seemed so willing to come along with him on his adventure. It meant forgetting, if briefly, the loss of his tent as well as maybe finding something worthwhile in the wilderness. Many of his best pokemon photos would come from following the sound of strange noises. Tossing some snow over the embers of his fire Adian and Marcus would, for the time being, leave the campsite and follow the sounds.
Meaning to start up with small talk Adian was soon interrupted by a Growlithe sprinting past them. By its' expression and body posture as it moved it was clear something bad was in the direction it had come. Instantly Adian would flash his gaze towards Marcus, adopting the defensive stance and fishing one of his own pokeballs out from his pocket and holding it at the ready.
"Seems you're right. Hopefully this wasn't a mistake..." His voice trailed off. "Only one way to find out though right? May as well head towards in." Adian said, trying to keep his voice even as if he held no doubts about their current path.
As you head onwards, the snarling and barking becomes louder and louder still- but nothing immediate comes out to attack you. Eventually you start to see a clearing in the distance, and it is here where the snarling is the loudest. A pack of Houndour and a pack of Growlithe are facing each other and growling and snarling. Some are even dangerously circling one another. They haven't noticed you yet, though.
Marcus gives Adian a dubious look as he walks towards the danger. The redhead was walking straight into what was clearly the most dangerous direction possible. "I am remembering what they say about curiosity and cats, now." Nonetheless, he agreed to do this, and they'd be safer together than alone, so he follows, as they follow the very conspicuous trail of melted and disturbed snow that signified the path of a panicking fire-type.
As the clearing comes into view Marcus starts in shock. That is a lot of pokemon, and they're clearly ready for a fight. He carefully switches which pokeball he has in his hand to take account for the type, bringing his Baltoy, Orbit, to the fore. Then, having made sure he has the barest sliver of a chance in a fight, he carefully backs away into the bushes. He whispers to Adian. "You've got your camera, right? Wouldn't do for us to die in a firestorm and to not get any pictures?"
What they had come upon was absolutely not what Adian had been expecting. "I like how you think..." He would whisper to Marcus as he full attention would shift to the rather odd scene in front of them. For the moment the two packs seemed to be unaware of them as they circled and snarled and Adian would creep forward - ever so quietly to get just close enough to lean in with his camera.
With a deep inhale he would push the button on his camera. A mechanical beep and whirring sound would come form the machine in his hands. Quiet but noticeable if one would listen. Had he known he would encounter such a sight Adian would have prepped his camera and lens prior to this moment, hoping the sound wouldn't give them away.
Quickly he would begin to take pictures, the quiet sound of the shutter clicking away. Adian had paid quite a bit of money at one point to find a near silent shutter, needing stealth on his side if he hoped to capture rare footage. Even so he couldn't help the wave of fear beginning to slowly creep up. If the pokemon would hear the noises, if they turned on them... Would the pair even have the ability to fend them off?
Adian hadn't put much thought into what his new companion carried with him until this moment. It wasn't as if he could ask with him being so close to the fight anyway.
The first clicking sound has a few ears twitching, but the Growlithe group and the Houndour pack don't seem to want to take eyes off one another. The longer it goes on, however, the more they finally succumb to curiosity- or at least a few of them do. A Growlithe finally catches the scent of Adian and seems to alert several mroe. They turn and growl loudly at this new threat. The Houndour pack, meanwhile, seems to take in another scent and several start wandering dangerously towards Marcus's hiding spot.
Marcus is going to hold very still. At this juncture, turning and running might be a chance of survival, but it also might just be a chance at death by pursuing pack. And besides, Marcus can't bring himself to flee. He can do this. ... probably. Marcus isn't going to pick a fight with these dogs, but he's not going to back down from one. He's going to stand and fight. But not yet. For now, he lurks as the Houndour draw closer, edging towards his hiding space. Eventually, he will step out of the bushes. He will throw out his pokeball, releasing the ground-type within. He will speak firmly and not aggressively. "I would rather not fight you. But I can." He gambles everything on his ability to choose the right tone of voice, to project the right body language, joining this conflict as neither an aggressor, nor as a weakling to be preyed upon. Do skills learned sitting in on board meetings apply, with a pack of literal, rather than metaphorical hounds baying at his heels. Let's hope so.
As if the universe read his mind... The pack would in fact not only hear him but both sides seemed to turn away from their impending fight and look towards both him and Marcus. The color drained from his face and Adian quickly recoiled, turning to Marcus and mouthing 'oh shit.'
He let go of his camera and let it thump against his chest while looking to Marcus for what to do. In his past he had encountered this sort of situation and either the trainer or guide he hired would dispatch the problem or he'd used a borrowed team. Never before had he had to face down a pack of angry pokemon with his own, most likely, very under leveled team. With his hand going to his pokeball he would watch Marcus and follow suit with his tactic.
Slowly he'd inch closer to his companion and in the same slow, confidant tone he said, "We are not looking for a fight but if you persist... There will be one."

The Houndour pack growled as the human appeared from his hiding spot. What was one of those doing here? As he released a Pokemon, they all turned their attention to it right after. What was that thing? A toy? One Houndour stepped forward and snapped its teeth at it trying to bite down on this strange rocky clay creature almost curiously? But also fiercely because it had to be! Another one leapt directly at Marcus and aimed to bite him. Seemed it was unimpressed with him.
The Growlithe group barked a little awkwardly at Adian’s presence rather than outright growl. They were confused but not nearly as hostile as the Houndour group— yet. They stomped their feet a couple of times and yipped at the humans to leave!

Marcus panics for a moment but manages to hold steady. A tremendous act of will allows him to get together the force to shove the leaping Houndour off course, causing the angry pokemon to sprawl backwards, it's heat causing the snow to melt into ominous black steam. It is largely unharmed by this, taking but a moment to get back up and join it's companions in fighting these strange foes. Orbit flinches back as teeth sink into soft clay, but recovered enough after a few blows to retailiate with devestating mud slaps, which rapidly left the Houndour with a good deal more caution for the so-called toy. They form a semicircle around the pair, baying and making occassional strikes at them. Every blow they land on Orbit is matched with a more powerful retailation, but they outnumber it, and this is not sustainable.
At least the Growlithe backed off but the Houndour proceeded to attack the clay doll and circle around them. "Hey Marcus, what do we do now..." Adian said uncertainly as he was forced backwards and closer to his companion, their shoulders now touching once he avoided the attack. Adian had managed to land them in a world of shit and with his team being small he didn't believe they could fight their way out of it.
Growlithe made it clear they were unwelcomed and escaping seemed their best option... But the circle around them would make such a feat hard. Without thinking he would grab two pokeballs, releasing his Sylveon and Leafeon. The two agile pokemon appeared right before Adian and chirped curiously at the situation.
"Leafeon use swift, Sylveon use copy cat on Leafeon, break the circle and lead them away!" Adian ordered. The pair would both use swift, smashing against Houndour before racing past them, hoping the pack would follow.

At least a good number of Growlithe and Houndour go chasing after Adian's Pokemon leaving both humans with a chance to escape the remainder of the packs. There are three ways to flee: back into the forest area the way you came, forward and up onto a rocky terrain area that looks unsteady, or lower towards some very unsteady lower ground. Which will you choose? Better think fast.
