The sun was bright and warm as Nadine pedaled her way down route 1; the shiny green bike that she’d borrowed was riding like a dream. She was on the search for a traveling trainer who’d left Birch City several months ago, leaving behind an urgent letter that never managed to reach his hands. Hearing the panic in the messenger’s voice, Nadine had volunteered to track down the recipient. In gratitude, they offered to let her borrow one of their bikes, an offer that Nadine was happy to accept. So far, the ride was smooth, and she was confident that she’d find this trainer in no time.
Two pokeballs were strapped to her waist, housing Slate and Flint, her Pokemon partners. A brown leather backpack was strapped tight over her shoulders, holding all the rest of her items. Nadine, as a rule, was always ready for an adventure. Today, the she’d been lucky in that she happened to be in the right place at the right time.

There seemed to be just a little fog rolling in from off the ocean way clouding the mainland here and there. However, it was not thick nor was it eerie, just enough to perhaps put the bike rider on higher alert.

Nadine slowed for a moment when she saw some fog beginning to roll in. Just a bit, but not enough to limit her visibility, thankfully. It actually looked quite cool, spreading over small spots all over the grassland. She was never one to shriek about bad weather, but it did pay to be a bit more careful when things were turbulent. This, right now, was not turbulent. If nothing else, it made this bike ride a bit more interesting.
Nadine crossed into an area where two trainers were having a battle; one with an Aipom, and the other with a Weedle. She smiled at the sight, knowing that there was an obvious underdog in the matchup. Still, she couldn’t help but want to root for the underdog. If she didn’t have a pressing issue that she had to get to, then she would have stayed and watched it. Alas, her journey was not yet done. She would fine this trainer, after all.

You come across a traveler who seems to match the description of the one you're looking for, but on talking to him, it seems he is not that person on. Onwards then.

“So close!” Nadine frowns slightly as she continues forward, her long legs pedaling for all they were worth. She was so sure that she had found this illusive trainer, but it seemed that she had been mistaken. Apparently, there were multiple brown haired, gray-eyed trainers in this area. She’d stopped next to every one of them, but none of the names matched the one etched on the envelope she had at hand. It seemed that her target was farther up still. She was determined to find him today, of that she was certain. She promised that messenger that she would, after all, and she always meant what she said.
It was past noon now, and the sun was out full blast. No more fog blocked her path, and all sorts of people were out, going about their day. Despite the warmth from the sun, there was a nice breeze that would push her short hair back, every once and a while. She quite enjoyed the rush of coolness.

As you keep searching, everything seems to be moving smoothly? Or at least that is until you hit a rock on the road and it causes your bike to jump twist nearly throwing you off if you're not careful!

The scenery seemed to pass in a soft blur as Nadine pedaled forward, her bike going fairly quickly. For over an hour, this was the case, and she felt confident in her riding. That is, until the front tire of her bike hit a rock the rested right on the center of the road, causing her to lose control of the steering. “Oh!” She stood up on the petals, putting her full body weight into maintaining herself on the bike, while it twisted to the side. After a moment of struggling, she placed her right foot on the ground, pulling the bike into a full stop, and sighing a breath of relief.
She was near a beach now, a detail that translated to rougher roads, as well as uneven ones. She was so distracted with looking for this trainer, that she hadn’t paid full attention to the terrain ahead of her. It was very much her fault, and she knew it. Nadine made a note to be more careful.
With that, she straightened out her bike, and continued to ride forward.

There are a few beach goers even in this cold weather! As you pass them, they mention seeing someone come by here recently. Could it be the one you're chasing after?

“Wait, what did he look like?” The tall man in in bright yellow swim trunks smiled back at her. He was one of four that had decided to go swimming in the beach, despite that cool breeze that she had been appreciating earlier. “He had shaggy brown hair, with like, gray eyes. He passed here moments ago. Dude seemed to be in no hurry.” Nadine’s eyes practically sparked at the description. It seemed that all that intense biking had paid off. She was catching up to this illusive trainer. In fact, if this man was right, then he should be less than a mile away.
“Thanks, I appreciate the help.” She jumped back on the bright green bike, pedaling forward, past the sand. He had to be here somewhere…
Several yards away, she could see another man with shaggy brown hair, and a backpack slung over his shoulder. Could this be him? “Excuse me!”

“Thank you so much!” The brown haired man’s face was red with embarrassment as he listened to Nadine’s story. “I never thought that they had something for me, so I was in no rush to get back.” He was very kind, and Nadine found him to be quite personable. The sun was nearly setting now, but her goal for the day had been achieved. She’d found the recipient of her letter, and had gotten it in his hands before the day’s end. She called that a victory.
“It’s no problem, really!” With her task done, Nadine got back on the shiny green bike, and pedaled her way back to Birch City. Usually, she was on foot, so the borrowed bike was a nice change. In truth, she’d grown quite fond of it, and didn’t really want to give it back. It was a smooth ride, even through rough terrain like sand.
Ah, well.
