Nadine stood up on top of her Rhyhorn’s stony back, her green eyes going up, and up, and up…until she finally reached the whiskered face of a blue Gyarados. Every once in a while, she took on a job in order to make a bit more money, so that she could buy the supplies that she needed for her travels. Today was one of those days. It seemed that the groomers here in Birch City preferred hiring outside help to wash their Pokemon, a task that Nadine felt more than confident in when she agreed to take it on.
Looking up at her giant client, she now felt slightly less confident. This would take some creativity.
Slate, her Rhyhorn, shifted under Nadine’s feet. Flint, her Fletchling, flew around the large blue Pokemon, his sharp eyes making certain that his mistress wouldn’t miss a spot. It was a team effort. With a thick water hose in hand, Nadine began to spray the Gyarados, giant buckets of soap at her side.

A random event has occurred! What will you do? Nadine DurandThe Gyarados was not about to make this easy. It roared and swayed at the spray- though it was hard to tell exactly if it liked it or was annoyed at that point. It snapped its maw a couple of times at the bird flying around, though. Clearly that was irritating.

Water splashed every which way as the Gyarados thrashed about. Nadine wasn’t certain whether he hated the hose water or not, but she doubted that he did. I mean, what water Pokemon hated water? Her mind wouldn’t entertain any other possibility. One thing was for certain though, he seemed to dislike having Flint constantly circle him. The snapping of his jaw toward the bird Pokemon gave that tidbit away.
“Flint, come rest behind me.” The fire bird flew up behind her, his feathers slightly wet from all the splashing. “Thank you Flint, I know how much you don’t like water.” She appreciated his obedience despite the unpleasantness of the task. Grabbing a smaller bucket that rested on her right side, Nadine scooped it full of soap, before tossing it toward the bottom of Gyarados’ form. “Let’s get you clean, Gyarados.” With a washcloth in hand she moved forward to gently scrub his scales.

Nothing Happened! All rolls were passed! Nadine DurandAs soon as the water stopped, the Gyarados seemed to calm down some. Though now the soap was tickling them! The can't stop laughing at the feeling and end up rolling over in the water. Well, at least it's easier to wash the other side of them this way?

The giggling Gyarados caused Nadine to smile; it wasn’t every day that she encountered such a large beast laughing. He rolled around in the water, which conveniently wet the rest of him, making for an easier time soaping him up. She threw bucket after bucket of soap over all the exposed area of his scales, until she was sure that he was sudsy and ready to wash. Grabbing a large washcloth, she continued to scrub around his large blue scales. Slate, who was still underneath her feet, boosting her up whenever she needed to wash a hard to reach area.
“Do you like this, Gyarados?” Despite the challenge of it, Nadine found that she was rather enjoying the task. She’d always preferred an interesting job over a boring one, and this one certainly fit the bill. “I’m almost done scrubbing.” The large Pokemon made a noise in agreement, or perhaps disdain. She hoped that it was the former.

Nothing Happened! All rolls were passed! Nadine Durand As you try and pull away from the Gyarados, it leans up and looks at you before flopping over again wanting you to keep scrubbing. Apparently it did like it.

With Gyarados enjoying his bath, things proceeded to go along quite smoothly. Nadine spent over two hours gently scrubbing the large Pokemon, but at last, she finished scrubbing off any dirt or grime that might have hidden between his scales. Quite satisfied with the result, she placed the rags down into the now mostly empty soap bucket, and picked the water hose back up.
“Alright, Gyarados. It’s time to rinse you back up!” Nadine sprayed him with the lukewarm water, noting how he wiggled and turned so that it would reach all of his scales. It seemed that her earlier suspicion was right, water Pokemon did indeed enjoy being covered in water; a lucky thing for her, given how difficult this task could have become.
In no time at all, Gyarados was completely rinsed off, his large form looking shiny and clean. This looked like a job well done, in her opinion. Aside from that, this had actually been quite fun!
