Adelaide could have died right then and been content- no seriously. Somebody preferred Adelaide over... over Diamond?! Or- well- the name- not the person, but... but still! And... Yeah, yeah, Adel was kinda cute... Adel... Adel... a very soft, "...t-thanks..." was mumbled, as she continued going off. And- and- the lady didn't save her from her rambling, Adelaide was toast, this girl was gonna find her weird and slap her or something and then cafe would get a bad review and and and she'd be fired and because she was too scared to enter a context she'd be without income- and then Tawny would stop helping her afford hotels and she'd go broke!
The girl... didn't sound uncomfortable? As she started speaking Adelaide nervously drew her eyes back up- only pausing with a shallow intake of breath as realization hit all at one... she... was... an idol- an idol- an idol. Adelaide was making a fool of herself infront of a really cute super mega idol who had a pretty voice and could stomp on her and her career without a care in the world. Arceus holy shit mother of fucking go- Adelaide could feel death creeping in, and if possible her face flushed further.
"...I-Idol, huh?" Her hands pushed and pulled at the badge now, wow, did metal really feel this smooth? She... didn't know many idol groups, yeah she was fro Sinnoh but her whole life was spent looking up to contests and contest girls and then just avoiding media all together so she didn't have to see her sisters face on TV. "I... d-don't- uh- see... idol g-groups- uhm..." Common, Adelaide! Do you speak it?! "B-But- if you -uh- give me a location I could... uhm... p-pop by to... t-to watch- I guess..."
Her voice trailed off and she brought her gaze to the floor again "...T-The name... w-what... uhm... what does it m-mean?"
Soft color touched Elise’s cheeks as she saw Adelaide blush. She nodded briefly at the repeated word and smiled a little harder thereafter. “Yep! Or, kind of aspiring still I guess, but yeah!” she faltered slightly at the other girl’s clear awkwardness. “Oh! Yeah we have a concert coming up! Actually just down the road at the Skylight Center?” she explained.
The second part, however, had her blinking. “What does… Pixie Nightmare Girls mean?” she asked. “Well… we use Fairy Types and Dark Types a lot on stage, and a lot of our songs kind of reference them.” She paused as a thought came to her. “I could get you a free ticket if you wanted to go??” she ask-stated. “It’d be easier just to hear and watch us than me explain!” And one ticket wasn’t hundreds of dollars worth like…. a certain someone had spent. “I can have my manager email you one if you like??”
A real life idol, smiling and practically glowing infront of her- Adelaide didn't deserve to be in her presence! As she brought up her up and coming contest eyes blinked, and her hand gripped a little firmer on her badge now- ahhHH it had cool ridges! A concert- at the starlight centre... a concert- Adelaide couldn't afford a concert! Maybe if she told Tawny the girl would hype her up and send her money but she was literally living out of hotels, which were expensive as they were comfy... uhMm...
Right, okay, the girl continued answering and Adelaide continued her awkward fidgiting, why did pretty girls find her worthy of talking to?! Why couldn't she act normal for once?? Surely this girl was talking to her because she pitied her, obviously, super obviously, she was pretty and she basically sparkled whenever she moved and Adelaide just?? Was?? Just Adelaide, at an early morning shift. Fairy types, and dark types... that was so creative?! And so cute?! Such an Aesthetic clash!
Adelaide squeaked as Elise said she could get her a free ticket- what- what!? What?! She- why would she?! "A... A f-free ticket?!" It was echoed back once more as she girls eyes widened, mouth opened in surprise before she tried to reign herself in. "I- I mean i-if you're o-offering I wouldn't mind b-but i'm not at all n-near worthy of a f-free ticket, t-thats just for like r-radio show winners right?! A-And i'm j-just a b-barista a-and like- uh- uhm...uh..." her head shook a few times, shed be seen as rude for refusing one, utterly rude!
"...I-I've... never seen any m-music shows live, I... I w-wouldn't even know what to do- o-or... or to... to wear?"
“Sure!” Elise beamed back at Adelaide’s surprise. A small giggle followed. This girl was so funny! “Lemme let my manger know, and can I get your number so she can contact you?” she went on. Shifting to grab her phone and tab over to the right contact, Elise started to text only to stop again.
“Huh?” Elise’s lips pressed together, and her brows furrowed. “I mean …. Aren’t radio show winners supposed to be average people too?” she asked not exactly following Adelaide’s train of thought. Actually, that was par for the course then because they just met and everything! “You can wear anything! Really!” she explained right after finishing her text. Looking back at Adelaide, Elise flashed a smile. “I’ve seen all kinds of people wear all kinds of things! Just go with whatever’s comfortable!” The dressing up part was for the idols after all!

The girl wanted her number the girl wanted her number the girl wanted her number- Addy had never had a girl ask for her number before this was going too fast why did she want her number?! Wasn't that the first step for dates??!! Adelaide was on shift she wasn't allowed her phone- what was her number again?! Her mouth felt like sandpaper and her eyes widened significantly, simply blinking in shock before she was able to finally manage out a few digits, fumbling over numbers. It was for the ticket- right. Right. No cute girl would see worth the time of day for wanting a girl like hers' number. Maybe if she looked more like the princess infront of her they would but... not her. Not Addy. Not here.
Adelaide could only watch as the girl seemed confused at her words, and Adelaide all at once wanted to rip her lips off and run. She'd said something that didn't make sense and the girl didnt understand, and now the girl was going to tell everybody she was weird and everything she said was convoluted and push her back to the kitchen so she didn't have to see Adelaide's face! At her words though... Addy could only open and close her mouth, perhaps imitating a gaping fish... she... was right.. they were normal people- but... "B-But, they're like- lucky- average people- a-and- and i'm not- i'm just...." Luck wasn't Adelaide's thing, if it was it would be her in the spotlight and not Dia. It would be her with fans, it would be her able to smile and talk to people.
She would be okay. The girl spoke more and Addy had to unhook her fingers from her bad and instead worked at picking at the small seams of her Barista uniform, trying to keep her fingers busy- what did people do with their hands when standing idle?! She... wear comfortable... like... but... she wouldn't look cute in a tracksuit, she wouldn't fit in, she'd be kicked out because she didn't look comfortable enough-
Or was this all a ruse to get her looking weird while everybody was dressed up so people could take pictures and she'd turn up online as the girl who looked homeless in a crowd of runway models! Adelaide's eyes flicked around almost panicked and she forced an intake of breath. "...B-But... aren't... p-people supposed to wear.. like... costumes? Or.. uh- with the brand on it..." Merchandise is what she means, but the word never left her lips. "W-Will they be selling it t-there? I could... buy some a-and change before the, uh... show- or- something... am I supposed to memorise the songs?! O-Or- uh- uhm- I... I don't..." Her gaze fell to the floor, "...what w-would I even do- do... I just... stand.... w-wouldn't... that be l-like, awkward?"
Punching in the numbers that were given to her, Elise read them over again and checked with Addy before nodding and storing the number. She started to text her manager about it only to stop short as Adelaide cut in again. Lucky… average… people? And Adelaide wasn’t? A small giggle escaped from Elise. “Well…. Today’s your lucky day!” she said with as much gusto as she could manage then before flashing a warm smile right after.
“Huh?” Elise blinked in rapid succession at Adelaide’s words. What did she mean— “You can stand and listen and cheer….it’s not awkward everyone does that…. buuuuut if you want some merchandise, there’s some online on the official PNG web page!” She was quick to fish up her phone, punch in the browser, and bring it up. “I could get you a t-shirt for free if you want!” She beamed at that.
Elise's giggle was also way too cute to be legal, Adelaide would like to die now please. She could already feel her face heating up once more and had to try everything not to accidentally say something bad or that was make her lose these tickets that would let her see really cute girls perform- wait would she even be able to survive around really cute girls!? No- Adelaide just stop thinking.
The girl went on to explain that standing and supporting and... cheering? Was normal... did... did Adelaide have to practice cheering??! How did you cheer at an idol thing?? Uhm... u- oh- oh there was a merch store online?! Adelaide was about to ask for the site but the girl was already moving to show her, and ADelaide could only fidgit more, uh- oh arceus mew she was offering a free t-shirt?! Who was this goddess.
"I-If... if you want t-to... to... to get... a free t-shirt for me- I mean- i-if... i-if it's cute- b-but- uh- a-aren't you giving away too many free things!?" Adelaide was so caught up in her talking that she hadn't noticed her manager staring at her from behind the counter, ready to pounce at a moments notice and drag her back to work.
Even as Adelaide dropped off into stumbling, Elise smiled brightly. “It’s ok! A free ticket and t-shirt isn’t that hard to get!” she assured. Just as her eyes flickered away from Adel, however, Elise caught the stare of the manager. “Uh….” she made a small pointing direction behind Adelaide and waited a moment. “Sorry, I guess you need to … uh… yeah. We can text later, ok?” she asked raising her drink to her lips and finding that somehow it was empty by that point. Well! That was ok! She could just finish breakfast and head out!
Juni, meanwhile, had indeed finished up and stood. Heading towards the door, she checked the time and mumbled a small “Thanks for the food…” as she left.
They're not too hard to get? Well... well if the girl insists then... she wouldn't be really, really against it. She didn't wanna be seen a mooch though, at all!But... but if it was really alright.... Adelaide bowed her head, another, "T-Thank you so much...." being stuttered off. Her head raised as she... tried to figure out what to do- could she bring up something else?! How could this girl even stand her presence, why was she not like her sister who saw people as low as Addy like they were dirt under her shoe- she was a nice famous person- a pretty famous person... nice...
Adelaide was going to go to that concert and going to support her! She deserved it- of course she'd have to chuugle a lot of things to ensure she knew all proper practices and that she didn't do anything wrong! If she did, well, she'd probably... see her name spread online... or... something. As she was caught in her headspace Elise's voice snapped her out of it- had she been quiet too long?! Was she weird?? Creepy???
She fallowed Elise's gaze only to see her manager beckoning to her, looking... peeved- ah- oh no?! She was going to get fired, or yelled at, or... or... fired! Just fired, totally. She visibly gulped, hands moving up to clutch at her chest and gaze moving back to Elise. as she spoke...
Only... to choke... on air... text later? Text... later-she was- but- wasn't her manager going to- a girl?! A girl... texting her??? Adelaide has stopped responding, her systems have shut down. A flush of colour once again paints Adelaide's features and she stammers for a solid few seconds.
Texting... a girl she'd... she'd have to chuugle how to text girls! She only had her mum and hr sister and- and.... and.... Adelaide was awful with technology what if the girl judged her and uninvited her and took away the free shirt and told everybody about how lame and awful THE Adelaide Gladstone was! Adelaide would die! Ah- ah she had... work she couldn't stand around and dwell on this right now! Breathing normalised, Adelaide managed out a soft, "O-Okay... text later- d-do you need a refill.... or..."
The staff were quick to wish Juni off, with fake morning smiles and brief waves. Whew.
As color warmed Adelaide’s features, Elise felt her own cheeks warming too. She didn’t mean to get Addy in trouble or anything like that. Hopefully everything would be ok! Her eyes flicked back to Addy again, and it seemed like the girl had calmed again. “Ok! Uh…. no I think I’m good thanks!” she answered. “Thank you though.”
She’d eat the last of her food as well and then set up her plate and cup just so that it was easier to clean up. “Bye Adel!” Elise called warmly as she left the café. “It was really nice meeting you!”
Ohhh Adelaide had totally blown it with this really cute girl, not that she was trying anything because arceus, if Adelaide tried anything it would be the end of the world as she knew it. And... the refusal of a free refill was the saddest thing she'd ever heard, like being told leave now you're not needed anymore- but she was getting carried away! This was work! Adelaide, snap out of it! A head was bowed once more in understanding followed by a soft, "...O-Okay... no worries..." before she all but skidaddled off towards her manager, who seemed more than ready to give her a word.
But Adelaide couldn't help but focus on the pretty blonde who was going to text her?! Girls... had her weak. Just girls.Elise was a cute girl, and nice, and-and she gave her fere things, and she was saying bye?! Ee's flicked to the door and she turned a deep shade of pink at the nickname- ahhhh- ahhhh-
This was it. This was how Adelaide Gladstone died.
