[attr="class","shea"] Shea liked coming to Birch. It was bigger than Pine-- a lot bigger!-- which meant more stuff to do. They loved the night life especially, ever since they'd turned old enough to start enjoying it (legally at least). But few things came for free, and Shea didn't exactly have a steady job. So when they saw the occasional odd job posted that looked easy enough and paid well, they liked to jump on the opportunity and get some money to put back.
Today, that odd job was walking Pidgey. Or, well, "walking" may not have been the best word. Exercising? Letting them stretch their wings. They had three of the feathery friends picked up from some kids who were apparently neighbors and raised Pidgey together. Each bird had a cuff on one ankle and a light leash that Shea held as they flapped overhead. Shea's Shiny Spritzee, Prince, floated up with them, chatting up the birdies. So far, things were going pretty well, though they'd only just started, really.
Up ahead, Shea spotted another person. Well, several here and there; it was the middle of the day and Birch was always busy, even in a nice little park like this. But this person stood out because she seemed to be walking several Growlithe. Shea flashed a huge smile and waved. "Heeeey~! You walking some Pokemon today, too?"
Willow had taken on a job to help her buy berry seeds for her farm. After all, she wouldn't be able to really do any sort of farming without anything to grow. This meant doing a random job, such as walking another person's pokemon. In this case, it was 3 separate people's Growlithes. Each one seemed to be rowdier than last. One was extremely calm and pleasant, the other got distracted very easily, and the last one was insane. Every car, pokemon, or person it walked by caused it to go insane. This made the job extremely hard for Willow.
However, it had gotten a lot easier for her once she saw another person walking by. It seemed like they were walking some Pidgey's, or well flying at least. As they were flapping their wings, the pink haired person had begun talking to her. With that, Willow looked back at them and said in her thick country accent, "Yeah, this one over here is making my life pretty difficult, but money's money I guess. What are you going to spend your's on? I actually own a farm, and I'm going to use it to buy seeds for it. I mean, who's ever heard of a farm without any plants on them." After finishing up, she laughed her hartiest laugh at the person, and then calmed herself back down to look back at the pokemon in front of her.
Your stroll through the park has been pleasant so far! Even the unruly Growlithe seems content to bark at the Pidgey flying overhead, but nothing more.
[attr="class","shea"] Shea winced a bit when one of her Growlithe began barking at their Pidgey, but the birds didn't seem too bothered, at least, seeming to know they were safely out of reach. The girl not only answered their question, but seemed to ramble a little in the process, catching Shea a bit off guard. Oh but ah, while they found it a little odd she would assume they were also walking someone else's 'mon for money rather than their own, she did happen to be right, and they supposed if she was doing the same it'd be reasonable to expect it of others, yeah? So okay.
And as for her question, "Oh, you know, just whatever." They shrugged. "I don't have any big plans for my paycheck, just spending money." Figuring they ought to return her wealth of information with a little of their own, they went on, "I'm a college student aiming for med school once I finish my basics. But my tuition's already paid this semester so I don't have to worry about that."
She seemed nice enough, if a little hyper, though. So Shea asked, "You wanna walk together while we get these guys some exercise?"

Her Growlithe seemed to try and get off its leash a tiny bit, but it didn't seem to be as rowdy as it had been. Willow wondered why, but she didn't focus on it too much. Instead, Willow listened as the pink haired person was explaining their life. It seemed fair since Willow told her a bit about herself. Now that they had a conversation going, she responded back to Shea and said to her, "That'd be great! If either of our animals fly the coop, we might be able to help each other. Though, I'm not too sure how that would happen. By the way, my name's Willow, what's your's?"
Willow's name had actually been from the tree itself. Her parents had met under one before she was born. It was the first time they had met each other, but even then they knew what kind of life they'd have. They wanted a farm together that included tons of different pokemon, that they could love and work with. What they didn't expect was a child, but they knew exactly what they wanted to name her. They wanted to name her after the thing that birthed their life, just like how her mother birthed Willow. This was a story that Willow was especially happy about. Her parents were her two favorite people, and to be named something as special as that Willow Tree made her smile. That smiling was exactly what she was doing then. Though, it didn't seem to out of place due to her ecstatic nature.
While you are chatting with Willow, the Pidgey seem anxious to get a move on, and start tugging on their lines. If you pay close attention, you might notice that two of them have gotten tangled together...
[attr="class","shea"] Shea blinked. "Animals?" They quirked a brow. "You mean the Pokemon?" They knew the odd person here or there might use the terms interchangeably, but they'd never actually met anyone who did. 'Animals' typically referred exclusively to non-Pokemon creatures, like standard fish and birds and the like. Ah, but anyway, they shook their head and brushed it off, smiling again.
"The name's Shea!" they answered. "And my pronouns are they/them, so you know." They were binding today, and as such more likely to be mistaken for a boy than a girl, but they always liked to preempt any chance to think either and make it clear they were neither. "So--"
Before they could finish that thought, the Pidgey started making a ruckus. "Oh! I'm sorry guys, we'll get moving. ..Huh?" Oh dear. "Ah, hold this," they requested of Willow, handing her the non-tangled Pidgey's leash. "C'mon you two, just... no this way. Okay now around-- there." They smiled as they got the Pidgey untangled, then took the third leash back. "Let's get moving before these guys get too restless," they said, beginning to walk down the park path.
"So it sounds like you just got your farm, if it doesn't have anything planted yet? Or are you just between harvests?" They tried to make some idle conversation.
As Shea corrected Willow, she got a tad bit embarassed. Though, she had a good laugh of it as she said back to the pink haired person, "Hah, pardon me. Being raised on a farm, it was a lot easier for us to just mix up our terminology. It made it a lot easier on us as farmers to just call all the pokemon and regular animals animals. Of course, that could get pretty confusing with ya'll city folk. So, I'll definitely try my best to call them pokemon more often!" With that, Willow smiled a big bright genuine smile towards Shea. Looking at her now, it seemed like that southern charm had been working. She shined under the sunlight in a way that most others wouldn't be able to, not to mention the fact that she radiated warmth. It was odd how even in her awkwardness, she still found a way to shine her joyful ways through.
With the introduction of Shea, Willow smiled happily and said to them, "That's nice to know!" Before Willow could say anymore though, the tangling of Shea's pokemon was a bit distressing as Willow watched her untangle the pokemon. It wasn't like Willow hadn't done something like that before. It was more so that she had never had to untangle flying pokemon before. Chickens were animals that couldn't fly, and dealing with them was a lot different than dealing with bird pokemon. So, Willow looked as she saw Shea's technique in pulling it off, smiling as she saw them pull it off.
Now that they were back to a point that they could talk, Shea started back the conversation. In response, Willow replied with a smile for her farm, "Well, my farm has things planted, but as of now, I don't really have the means of getting the types of seeds I want for the next harvest. Right now, my harvest is looking pretty basic. If I want to get my farm's name more well known, I'm gonna have to get some premium berries. Farming must sound a bit boring considering all the work we do, so let's talk about you! Why exactly did you want to get into the medical profession?"
It seemed to be Willow's turn to deal with some Pokemon problems- one of the Growlithe noticed a stray Meowth walking by and immediately started barking and tugging causing the distracted one to start barking as well. The third just sort of deadpanned watching this go on.
[attr="class","shea"] Shea squinted. They didn't really see how it was any easier? If anything they'd think it would get more confusing working with both. Then again, maybe if it was like just, 'time to feed the animals' vs 'time to feed the animals and Pokemon', they could maybe see something like that? Eh. They didn't care enough to press the topic, even if they didn't especially appreciate being called 'city folk'. Cedar and Pine were both pretty small, but maybe to Willow they were big? They didn't know where she was from, after all. So oh well.
They listened as she got into talk about a premium harvest and wanting more diversity. That made sense enough, and they nodded along. "Ah, good luck with it!" She insisted she must be boring, though, and changed the subject to them. Not that farming was especially exciting, but Shea wouldn't have said the topic was too dull to continue, either. Still, they didn't mind talking about themself a little. "I just want to help people and Pokemon! I know a little generosity and kindness can go a long way, and I want to combine that with knowledge to help touch lives, just like my adopted dad changed my life when he took me in." They smiled softly, having only recently realized the vague connection between that and their motivation. Teasing a bit, they added, "Besides, I've got the pink hair to be a nurse, right~?" They giggled.
Just then, two of Willow's Growlithe began to tug and bark. "Hm?" Shea looked up to find the reason: a strange gray Pokemon that looked like a giant ball of fluff, but had a somewhat familiar head structure. "I... Is that a Meowth???" They'd never seen the Galarian variant before, not that they knew that that was what this was. Arceus, its smile was creepy! They became a bit worried for their birds, who seemed not to have noticed the cat yet thankfully. All the same, they clutched the leashes a little tighter.
As Shea had begun to talk about themselves, they told a beautiful story that made WIllow smile. It was sweet, and it was something that made Willow feel genuinely happy about the person's decisions. For someone to care that much about people and pokemon was an amazing thing. In Willow's job, it wasn't as though she was helping people, but she was instead trying to help the environment around her. If she wasn't able to farm anymore, after using the land she had irresponsibly, then she'd never be able to forgive herself. She cared too much about farming to have one mistake screw it up for her. So, having her own goals being a bit more self centered, she was amazed by how selfless Shea was. After finishing up their little joke, Willow went in and giggled along with her, saying back to them, "Wow, I've never heard something so genuinely amazing like that before. I hope for all the best in your work!"
With that, she looked back down to the pokemon she was walking in order to see that they were distracted by a cat like pokemon. One that she hadn't seen before, but heard about. It seemed to be a Galarian Meowth. Some farmers had used the pokemon as a scarecrow to try and scare away the bird pokemon. Now though, it was a distraction to the Growlithes she was walking. She tried to get a grip on them, and hoped that they wouldn't go chasing after it. If she lost control on the rowdiest dog now, then the easily distracted one would follow in pursuit. So, she stood there and tried to get a grip on the pokemon's leash. She made sure not to hurt the pokemon in the wrangling of them. After all, it wouldn't be that fun to explain to the owner why the pokemon got hurt.

wc: 312 Notes: Don't know if this applies in this situation, but Willow has a +15 in strength Shea Briar Rose
Willow managed to hold onto the Growlithe group for a moment, but that gave the Meowth time to climb up a wall and immediately hop at Shea's Pidgey group right after. The birds shrieked and started flying all in a mess which had the dogs immediately barking and scrambling as well from the sound and cause the cat was still around. What a mess.
[attr="class","shea"] A faint blush crossed Shea's features as the girl complimented their dreams. "Th-thank you!" was all they'd managed to say before the Meowth situation took their attention.
At first, Shea thought it would just climb up out of reach of the dogs and run off, but when it jumped at their birds instead, they let out a confused cry. "AAAAAaaaaAA!!?" They pulled the Pidgey leashes away, and the cat quickly lost grip and fell to the ground empty-clawed, but the birds were still panicking. Great, great! Uh! "Prince, help! Try to scare it off with a Fairy Wind!" Not that they knew the cat was a damn Steel-type and would barely feel the wind... But maybe they'd get lucky?
Prince chirped aggressively and launched the attack, which uh... did not exactly impress. The Meowth's smile didn't fade, as if it was plastered on their face, but they did seem to be a little annoyed on top of it now.
