Maybe Wren had gotten a little overzealous in their eagerness to get moving. All too quickly, they had spurred Alouette into a gallop, believing that the dragon would be able to keep up. Dragons were pretty fast flyers after all, or at least so they believed. Aside from that, Sid seemed eager enough to start the race. Unfortunately, Wren hadn't taken into account the speed differences between the two Pokemon and when they looked back, it would be to find that Sid was much further behind them than they'd expected.

Pulling Alouette to a stop, Wren laughed as they waited for Sid to catch up, "Guess you have to level up more before you can compete with the God of Death~," they smirked, giving Sid a self-assured, cocky smile. Alouette would nicker in reply, allowing Lord to set the pace this time. Whatever was comfortable to the dragon was just fine with the Ponyta.

"Course I'm not quite on par with Lord Death yet, but close enough," Wren mused, smirking a little and shrugging thereafter. They thought that would be pretty accurate to the manga at any rate. Death the Kid didn't quite figure out his power until later on. Continuity wise, it would be a fair claim to make.

[Sidney Ridley]

Watching Wren and their Ponyta speed ahead of them, Sid couldn’t help but lean against Lord’s neck a bit. “Want to go maybe a little faster?” they asked. The Drampa shook his head. No, he was happy moving as they were. Sid chuckled. Well, welp. At least Wren noticed and actually slowed to a stop, and once they were back neck and neck again, Sid grinned apologetically.

“Perhaps so,” Sid answered. “I may need a stronger Weapon against such a powerful Meister.” Lord looked back at them with a bit of scrutiny at that. He was no weapon in the traditional sense of the word. Sid blinked confusedly before it finally clicked. “Oh! It’s part of the show, Lord! Weapons and Meisters are paired to defeat demon-like monsters that—“ Lord snorted loudly, and Sid froze before laughing again. “Yeah, like that…..” they smiled a little before looking back towards Wren again.

And then a flash of something caught their eyes again. Sid blinked and shook their head again. “Maybe I should ask Spirit for assistance in this one,” they said slowly after a moment. Spirit being Maka’s father wielded by the very father of Kid right then. “If he isn’t lazing about and floundering over women…” Who did that remind them of, hah…

Wren laughed at the explanation given to the Drampa, nodding along with Sid's words, "It's only to be expected, not many Weapons can compete against the God of Death~," they mused, sitting up just a little straighter, looking as proud as they believed Death the Kid should in this case. They noticed the way Sid shook their head but given that they moved on to talk about Spirit, didn't think much of it.

Laughing again, Wren shook their head, "Perhaps, if my father is in a sharing mood. You just might have an edge with Spirit in hand. Though are you advanced enough to wield him properly, that's another question entirely~," they mused, smirking at the last statement by Sid. Yes, fathers could be quite useless, couldn't they~. "It would certainly be a surprise if you found him in a fit state for battle."
