Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
Three optional icebreaker questions are offered: 1. If you could be granted three wishes, what would they be? 2. What is the cheesiest pickup line you have heard? 3. If your friends compared you to a Pokemon, which Pokemon would it be?
Feel free to discuss any of these or use your own icebreaker!
Why did Adelaide let herself get dragged here?! She could barely stay composed near people she called friends, so why did she let herself get convinced into thinking this was at all a decent idea?! Maybe if she'd put that she'd liked guys on her application she wouldn't have to deal with being face to face with girls- girls who are probably very cute, or very hot, or the type of girls that could make her heart melt at one glance, who'd probably judge her for what she's wearing, for every little thing she says, every little action she performs... girls...
Was it too late to back out?! To duck out the back door and just... not be seen? Or... she'd get caught, reporters would target her as the coordinator who ran away and suddenly she'd be all over the newspapers once again, headlined a coward even, and she wouldn't be able to deal with that- at all.
So instead, Adelaide swallowed down her fear, only shaing ever so slightly and drawing her hands as close to her chest as physically possible... she'd actually dressed up for this- but surely she was overdressed?! Her hair was miraculously curled, and she'd foregone her glasses instead to emphasize her makeup. Pink lips, a metalic slip dress, high heels- surely she looked the part of a confident, classy girl- somebody who was living her best life, somebody far, far more confident than she ever was- a girl living in a realm far separated from her own.
Mew, Arceus, anybody, save her. As she was directed to her table her hands shook, and her steps were slow, as if trying to keep her from her fate as long as possible. She couldn't... talk to a girl... Uhm... uh... Her hands raked through her hair now as she found her seat, only barely sighing at the fact nobody was here yet- this was okay this was fine! Breathe, Addy, breathe!
...What if the reason nobody was sitting opposite her was because they recognized her name and didn't want to be caught dead with the Adelaide Gladstone from Sinnoh- was she that much of an embarrassment?! She fumbled with one of the bracelets she was wearing now, jittery and uncomfortable. What did she do if they just- didn't... what did she-
Huh?! A noise- Adelaide's gaze flew up at the appearance of another person and she jumped up from her chair- a girl- a pretty girl-words were lost, Addy was shaking- uhm- uh- uhm... Adelaide quickly bowed at her, not knowing what else to do and the only think flooding through her mind at this moment was Sinnoh customs... alright.. okay.. alright... name! Addy- name! "...I'm... i'm... A-Adelaide- though that's... y-you might already know that- it's... i-it's on the card... uhm..." She quickly sat herself down, unsure what else to do and only managing to fidgit with her bracelet more.
Her cheeks were flushed red and she could barely manage a sentance so all she could do was duck her head and hope to Jirachi that the girl was able to hold conversation, or say something- what if the girl found her ugly?! What if Adelaide's bow put her off?! Was she too forthcoming!? Was she not nice enough?! Was her lack of speaking too awkward- was she visibly awkward?! What if the girl thought she was refusing to talk to her because she found her ugly when in fact Adelaide could barely hold her gaze to hers because she was too pr-
Focus, Adelaide! The girl managed to draw her gaze back up to the girls and at least attempted a smile, a mumble of. "...S-Sorry... not... n-not too good with people..." leaving her.
[attr="class","contentbox"] She honestly had signed up to this event because she was bored. She needed more friends ever since she had come to Arciel she'd done nothing but catch and train her pokemon. Though Kimmy had tried to dress appropriately, given the rules of the event she knew this was not only for dating but to make friends too. Younger people were entering, older people, of all kinds. The card she held in her hand gave her two pieces of information, the name of her surprise date and the three recommended questions provided in case of a ice breaker. Kimmy cleared her throat, she was wearing a simple T-shirt with the fighting type symbol on it the outside encased in white. Her jeans unlike her usual shorts felt tight but Kimmy did have her hair up as usual in a ponytail. It wasn't long before she found the table, right on time it seemed because it nearly looked like the girl was worried nobody would show up. Kimmy quickly took her seat, watching her as she spoke Adelaide seemed a bit nervous and it made Kimmy smile brightly the dark skinned girl placed her card on the table looking at the questions. [break][break] "That's alright, my name's Kimmy card or not nothing beats an introduction." Kimmy wasn't sure how to make someone feel more comfortable but she simply just defaulted to being herself. It was the best course of action, though she was sure that not a lot of people would enjoy being her friend. "It's nice to meet you Adelaide, don't worry about being bad with people. We're here to have fun and get to know some people right?" Kimmy tried to clear her throat. She wasn't a nervous person by nature but she didn't quiet know... what to say. So she did suppose it was time for one of the ice breaker questions. [break][break] "So uh, if your friends compared you to a pokemon what pokemon would that be?" Kimmy rubbed her hands on her legs, hoping that this would put the girl at a bit of ease. She smiled and looked at the card, wondering if she would meet someone here. Though of course she already met someone, just Kimmy knew she could go on for hours talking about herself and she was trying not to do that.
As the girl introduced herself Adelaide attempted a smile, though she was wary- was it too big?? Too small? Arceus she was a mess- uhm... well Kimmy seemed nice, at least! She didn't say anything out loud regarding Adelaide so the girl could only assume that either she did decently on her outfit or... that she was keeping all negative things she thought inside- which would be awful! "Y-Yeah...yeah fun..." She echoed softly- if anything meeting all these people would be the death of her, she was going to explode internally at one point and that'd be it, headlines of the coordinator who failed twice because girls made her weak.
Breathe... just breathe... okay, the girl was reading an ice breaker question! This should be fine right? Ri- oharceusno. The question was innocent enough but... if... friends? Friends?! Maybe.. maybe Riley counted as a friend, and Tawny... but... but that was it- and neither of them had ever compared her to a pokemon! Uhm... what if she did it compared to pokedex entries? Or... or their look? Though if she did it based on looks that'd be narcissistic, wouldn't it?! She'd be judged! Water type...water type... "...S-Sobble..." She said, after a long beat of silence and thinking, she fidgited then, leg bouncing. "B-Because, uhm... it's... a w-water type... and... I g-grew up around water- and... it's d-decently...cute? Not- not that i'm calling myself decently c-cute just that my friends- friend- sister- my sister t-thinks that and she tells me a bunch!" Nonononon Adelaide, Adelaide stop! She had to cut herself off from rambling too much and was very much a step away from hiding her face, aaaaaahhhh.... uhm... uh...
"Sorry- sorry- I... I didn't mean to- u-uhm... go off- that was... t-that was rude- and- and- what... what about... you? Your... pokemon?'
[attr="class","contentbox"] Kimmy laughed a little, the teenager was cute Sobble fit her rather well. Not to mention it was probably because of her nerves. Though Kimmy herself wasn't sure if she was making it any better or any worse. She wasn't the anxious type in fact she didn't really have an issue talking to people if not for her anger. However, since she'd moved here she hadn't really gotten angry. Maybe it was all the fighting she did with her mother, at the moment in Arciel she was content. Well as content as someone who stole things could be. She let the thought fade away before speaking, "It fits you, you are cute and I can see a bit of Sobble in you." she nodded her head in confirmation. [break][break] When the girl however threw the question back at Kimmy well that's when she drew a blank. She scratched her cheek, she spent most of her time out on the route's she didn't even stay in a motel. Only to wash and rest for a night or two before being out under the stars again. Since she had practically smuggled her way to Arciel she didn't have any connections and she had only met one trainer so far and it was one on a route that she had defeated in battle. "Well I- don't have any friends." she admitted slowly. "That's why I'm here, but that's because I moved here recently I'm sure they'll come up eventually. But anyone who knew me back home would probably be a Blaziken. I'm hot tempered and fighting types are just sort of my thing." she grinned and crossed her arms. [break][break] "If you could be granted three wishes what would they be?" Kimmy then asked. Going down the list of questions, hopefully that was the right thing to do. Talking about herself... probably wasn't the most fun thing of hers to do. She wished she had been able to take Digger with her at least the shiny stufful would be a sight for conversation.
It fits her?! She was cute?! Oh Adelaide could have died right now and still wouldn't have known what to reply to that. Face red, a confused stammer of unintelligible syllables left her and she absently attempted to duck behind her curls. The girl wasn't saying that just to butter her up before tearing her down, right?! That was a tactic some newspapers used and it was beyond awful! Sobble always looked like they were crying- did she always look like she was crying?! Mew help her she was going to implode.
The girls absent look after Adelaide asked her question left her gulping silently, pushing her hair further infront of her- oh- oh no- she'd asked an awful question- Kimmy was going to walk away and she was going to be stuck here being the girl who's partner walked off and everybody would stare all because she asked a stupid question. At the girls answer Adelaide paled slightly, biting down on her lip- she...didn't have any friends? "...i-i-i'm sorry! I didn't mean to ask a-anything insensitive- i d-don't have any either, a-apart from my sister, maybe, kinda- m-maybe Riley... b-but- b-but... yeah..." she quickly trailed off as the other girl started talking again.
Blaziken! Blazken- uh- the... cool bird mon? What did she say to that without sounding stupid, like she had no idea about pokemon- cmon Addy, you've already made a fool of yourself a bunch! What did she do?! "B-Blaziken...is... g-good... very fiery." That sounded awful and stupid and she was going to hate her- and walk away?! Yes. Yes totally. And then go to the news and... and... okay.. breathe...
Three wishes?! Three wishes?! Oh arceus no it was a genie question! Uh- uhm- but... all this talking about her was going to cause problems, she'd be seen as selfish or any of her answers could be misjudged! Uh-okay- keep them simple- simple.. "I'd... wish- uh... to be a... b-better coordinator?" Good start, good start! "'A-And... to... h-have confidence..." okayyy, you're getting there! "...and...a-and...for my sister to c-care about the f-family again..." AND YOU BLEW IT. Adelaide! Adelaide no! Pity is bad, don't make people pity you, because they think you're seeking attention with whatever tragic notch you have on your belt, quick! qUICK- change the subject!
[attr="class","contentbox"] Kimmy hadn't meant to make the girl feel uncomfortable! That was the least of her intentions. Simply Kimmy didn't have any friends because she had only just moved here. "No, no it's okay! I moved here last month and I've been so preoccupied by training my pokemon for the gyms that I really haven't taken the time to talk to anyone. That's actually why I'm here." She was half telling the truth as she smiled scratching her cheek to calm her nerves a bit. She was a thief, it was best if she didn't get close to anyone right? Not unless they really caught her interest so Kimmy could lie forever after all she didn't think too much of lying. As long as it didn't hurt the other person what harm was it in saving them the grief. The truth made her think of her mother far too much.[break][break] She laughed at the comment with the Blaziken fiery was a good word for it. Hot tempered was what anyone else would use. "I snap easily so that's why I was called that. Or at least I can get angry really easy." Though she had mellowed out some since she came to Arciel which was a surprise. Possibly because she had so much to distract herself. Kimmy then pulled herself out of her thoughts and concentrated on Adelaide as she explained her wishes. Though the last one... seemed a bit personal. Kimmy watched as the flabbergasted teen seemed to have thought she said something wrong. Wasn't the point of this speed dating to get to know each other?[break][break] "Coordinator!" Kimmy decided to veer the subject off. "That's so cool! I didn't know you were a coordinator. As a Trainer I don't really pay attention to that stuff as much but I love seeing it from time to time." she grinned. Her wishes though? "Oh my wishes?" To be a great pokemon smuggler. Yeah watch her get arrested right then and there. She had to think of a clever lie. "To beat the best trainers there are, to evolve my shiny stufful, and to build the strongest team Arciel has ever seen!" she raised her hands in grandgur.

Adelaide Gladstone We don't have to continue if you'd like but I'd love to still make it to one page
Oooh, so uh Kimmy's new to the region, then?? That explains it, but it still didn't give Adelaide the right to assume things, at all! It was awful of her, she's surprised the girl hadn't just gotten up and left, to be honest. But that meant thankfully she was here just to talk to people, so Addy wasn't at all expected to do like, romance things, which is expected of dates, and that put a little bit of pressure off her. As she continued speaking, mentioning she snaps easily for a second Adelaide was confused, at least util she reworded- ahh...
Her dad had anger issues sometimes, especially when an unscheduled ship came in to dock, he'd yell at them for ages- but this wasn't about her! Addy awkwardly nodded along, not to sure what to say, at least that wouldn't end up in the girl up and leaving the table and going to the reporters about how utterly awful she was. As Kimmy seemed excited at the coordinator aspect Adelaide didn't exactly.. have the heart to say she hadn't actually been in one yet, she was still training as to not ruin her chances on stage and get flocked-
Besides, what if her sister found out and came to Arciel to attempt to ruin any and all chances of her getting decently big? That'd be awful! "Y-Yeah..." She said it softly, awkwardly tugging on the hem of her dress, "...i've w-wanted to be one s-since I was a kid..." her voice was slightly shaky, she'd even tried to be one but obviously because of her sister it just... flopped. But it made sense Kimmy was a trainer, she seemed the strong type!
As Kimmy spoke of her wishes Adelaide nervously nodded along, to beat all the best trainers sounded like an interesting wish, and then... Adelaide's eyes opened a little widen, "Y-You have a shiny Stufful- that's s-so cool!" She almost immediately went red, realizing she was a little to loud and began to fidget, mumbling a, "...sorry..." immediately after. "...b-but, even if they're just w-wish i'm... sure you'll be able to do all three..." she trailed off now, instead opting to stop talking, feeling rather embarrassed and looking to the table. She shouldn't have come here she's a total mess, everybody will look at her and go hey there's that walking trainwreck Adelaide Gladstone, let's report her to the magazines so her sister finds out where she is and ruins her career yet again!
