Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
Three optional icebreaker questions are offered: 1. If you had one extra hour of free time a day, how would you use it? 2. Besides war and diplomacy, what would be the best way for countries to settle disputes? 3. What is one article of clothing that someone could wear that would make you walk out on a date with them?
Feel free to discuss any of these or use your own icebreaker!

Nadine took a sip of scotch from the ornate glass in her hand, before taking a seat in her next assigned table. Her first date had been terribly boring, so she was hoping for a more interesting partner this time around. She still wore a pale yellow dress that hugged her muscular form tightly, and black heels adorned her feet. She felt pretty, which isn’t a feeling that she got to enjoy often. Exploring didn’t give her much time to pamper herself in such a way.
Her stomach fluttered with a bit of nervousness, despite the silliness of this whole event. She was so completely out of her element here. Then again, wasn’t that the point?
Well, that first date had been pretty nice. Riley was a bit of fresh air, and now the lanky Galarian felt quite relaxed about the whole thing. Just have fun with it.
As he approached the next table, he saw the woman who was sitting there, waiting for him. Not a bad looker in a tight yellow dress. Marley instantly noticed the muscles on her. Ah, a woman with some strength to her. Nice. Marley smiled as he approached the table. "Hey there," Marley said in a casual, yet friendly manner, "Marley Hyde, nice to meetchya." He offered his hand to her to shake. Whether she'd take it or not, Marley would sit down opposite of her, his eye looking at the card of ice breakers. His last date had taught him some of these can have the potential for some fun.
"ow, lessee what we got 'ere," he said, picking up the card and glancing over the questions. A small smile spread across his face. "Alrighty, What is one article of clothin' that someone could wear that would make you walk out on a date?" This had some potential.

Nadine smiled as a tall, lanky man made his way to the table where she was sitting. This must be her date! He seemed like an interesting character, just based on appearances alone, the way he walked. It was quite exciting, actually. When he reached his hand out, Nadine grasped it with her own, shaking it firmly. “It’s nice to meet you; I’m Nadine Durand.” Her smile widened as he took a seat, reaching for the cards in front of them. The icebreakers.
An article of clothing that would cause her to walk out on a date? Now that was a question that she’d never thought about before. Nadine was normally very laid back, and it took a lot for her to react in such a dramatic manner. It took…a pretty serious incompatibility. Or fear. That last part gave her an idea.
“Would a sword be considered an article of clothing? Because it would be pretty concerning if someone walked up to me with a giant sword strapped to their side. I’d probably make a run for it.” She chucked at her own humor.
“How about you? What article of clothing would cause you to run for the hills?”
Marley gave a small chuckle at her answer. Well, he hadn't expected a sword, but guess it made sense. "Well, look on the bright side. Ya ever get into trouble, yer date can protect ya." he gave a small shrug, "Or they're a loony. Who knows. The world's full of all sorts." Now it was time for him to think of an answer. "Hmm, clothes to make me run..." He gave a small chuckle. "If they're wearin' underwear on the outside, or somethin' just as nuts as that, I'm walkin'. Not a good idea to mess with crazy. Or at least, that kind of crazy."
He gave another chuckle and then looked at Nadine. Well, she certainly seemed nice enough. "So, what do ya do for a livin'?" He got the impression she did something physical, if her frame was anything to go by. A girl that wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty. Marley liked that.

Nadine’s smile widened at his response; it was certainly an interesting one. “Well, I’m a professional explorer.” She loved answering this particular question, as it was something that she was passionate about. “I make it my job to sneak into every nook and cranny that I can find; to see everything that there is to be discovered.” She took another sip of her drink before placing her glass back down on the table. “I absolutely love it.”
They say that if you do what you love, then you’ll never work a day in your life. That adage was accurate; Nadine could attest to that. “How about you, Marley? What do you do for work?” She chuckled before continuing. “And for fun?”
Ah, so she was an explorer huh? Well, that certainly made sense. And her passion for it all brought a smile to his face. It was good to find a job you loved to do. Marley could say the same thing for himself. "Well, in terms of work, I've done a fair bit of work mining, construction, basically anything needing a strong young man to help them." He was trying not to boast about his capabilities, but hey, sell yourself why don't you? "But really, I consider meself a pokemon trainer before all else. Lookin' to make a name for meself in the league, got meself a good team, and now workin' on takin' on the gyms." Granted, things weren't going the best for him on that last front, but hey, he wasn't going to give up on it.

“A Pokemon trainer, huh?” Her smile turned mischievous before continuing. “When I was a kid, I thought that I wanted to be a trainer too.” A chuckle escaped her lips. “Turns out that I wasn’t as interested in the battling as I was the traveling to get to the gyms. I didn’t battle a single gym before deciding that I wanted to be an explorer instead.” Nadine took a sip from her glass before placing it down on the table again. “I’m kind of glad that I did.”
“What is your Pokemon team like? Are they strong?” She knew that ‘strong’ was an arbitrary term, but she was curious as to how her companion would respond. Was he proud of his team like she was of hers?
Marley nodded as he listened to Nadine's story. "I'd been wantin' to be a trainer for most of me life. Then me mum got sick and I had to stay home to look after her. It's only been recently that I've actually been able to start trainin'." Not that he held any grudge against his mother for that. She didn't ask to get sick, and she had looked after him ever since his father ran out on them.
When she asked about his team, a smirk spread across his face. "Well, I consider them a strong, dependable team, yeah. Got me through all sorts of trouble." He thought for a moment, "Guess you can say they're a mixing pot of sorts. Different types, personalities, and such. Though I'd be lyin' if I said I didn't have a fancy for pokemon from the old country."

“I get it, completely.” And she did. Her team had gotten her through more situations than she could reasonably count. They each had their strengths, and their own unique personalities. That’s part of what Nadine loved about them; they were interesting, as well as dependable.
“I suppose I have a soft spot for my Rhyhorn, Slate.” She paused for a moment, before deciding to continue. “He was my first Pokemon, and one of two partners to leave Kalos with me, and come here.”
Reaching forward, Nadine grabbed another of the icebreaker cards; these were quite interesting. “Tell me…if you had one extra hour of free time a day, how would you use it?”
"A Ryhorn huh? Neat. My Steelix, Ironton's always been a big help fer me down in the mines. Besides, who doesn't like 'avin' a huge steelix around?" he gave a small chuckle, watching as she drew one of the other icebreaker cards.
Marley tilted his head in thought, thinking about the question. "An extra hour huh? Hmm, that's a tricky one. Well, I guess I could use it to do some trainin'. Gotta keep meself and me pokemon fit and fighting. Well, if not that, well, it doesn't hurt to spend some fun, find a party to hang out at." He looked Nadine in the eyes. "So, what about you?"
His answer was a reasonable one; some work, and some play. Made sense to her. Nadine licked her bottom lip as she thought up her own response. What would she did if she had an extra hour in the day? Probably the same thing she was always doing: looking for a new adventure to embark on.
“I’d probably use it to explore. That’s an extra hour of sunlight that I can use to stumble into some trouble,” she chuckled at her own joke. “I hope to one day explore every region out there.” She looked at Marley with a wistful expression.
Marley couldn't help but give a smile at her response. A chance to explore the world, including all of the regions. Marley could understand that. "Yeah, I wouldn't mind havin' a crack at that as well. Explorin' the different regions, takin' on the different leagues. I know for certain that once I've done this league, I'm thinkin' of going back to Galar, take on the gym challenge." He gave a small shrug, "I mean, a top tier trainer in another region shouldn't have much problem finding someone to endorse them." As a child he had dreamed of battling in the gyms, pulling off Dynamax battles. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be the case here in Arciel.
He sat back in his seat, smiling. "Honestly, I'd recommend explorin' Galar. There's plenty of things to see, pokemon to encounter. Wonderful place."

“Galar is definitely one of the places on the top of my list.” Nadine sipped from her glass, finishing the last of the liquid inside. Gently placing the empty cup on the table, she figured that she’d go ahead and ask something that had been circling her mind since he’d said something earlier.
“You need an endorsement to compete in the gyms in Galar? You can’t just up and do it?” It was a new concept for her, given the freedom to battle whatever gyms you wanted back in Kalos. It wasn’t something that she’d really taken advantage of but she knew how it worked.
Marley nodded at her question regarding the Galarian Gym Challenge. "Yeah, somethin' like that. You see, unlike here, where gym battles are a relatively private affair, the Gym Challenge in Galar is a huge deal. Televised gym battles, huge stadiums full of people. It's all one big sporting event, and I guess they want to make sure that those that take part are able to put up a good fight."
Marley sat back in his seat. "Then again, since Dynamaxin's a big part of Galarian battles, that might also be the case. After all, when you're fightin' with giant pokemon, you're not just going to let anyone in the ring. You want to make sure they can handle themselves, ya know?" At least, that's how it made sense for Marley

“Yeah, it makes perfect sense,” Nadine smiled back. The thought of making such a huge event out of each gym battle, it was something that sounded fun to her. She liked that. “If you do take on the Galar gym challenge, let me know, so that I can tune in and cheer from the sidelines.” She quite liked Marley, he was an interesting character. Nadine wouldn’t mind rooting for him during his gym battles.
At that moment, a bell rang, indicating that their time was up, and they had to move onto another table. “It was really nice meeting you!” With that, she got up, going to her next destination.
