It had been quite a while since Soph initially came to the entrance of the caverns. That was when she'd found an abandoned egg--which she'd decided to finally endeavor to help hatch--and then more recently an injured Lombre. Not wanting to traumatize the poor Pokemon, she'd left her at home.
Standing before the entrance outside of Pine Town, she gulped down her unease and checked her supplies again. She had plenty of water, some snacks and more substantial food, a party of four Pokemon and two eggs, plus healing items and Pokeballs. Assured that she was set, she took a deep breath and made her way into the Glowworm Caverns.
The Glowworm Caverns. It seemed spooky enough, especially given that there was no light aside from the moss that grew within. Koray had come in search of some rare ingredients that he needed for a recipe he was trying to perfect. Aside from that, it would be nice to get out to explore rather than stay cooped up inside. Riding Freda, Koray thought that it would be a good idea to have his own light and thus opted to bring Elanor and Rowan of course. The Phantump wouldn't stay behind no matter what Koray said.
As they neared the caverns it seemed that there was someone already here. Huh, well, might as well greet them and see if they wanted to travel together. Sometimes it was better to have company after all. Urging Freda to move a little faster, the Absol grumbled a complaint before doing as she was told. It didn't take long before they managed to overtake the other person. "Didn't expect to see anyone else here, are you exploring the caves too?" Koray asked, smiling lightly, "My name's Koray by the way. What's yours?"
It was so dark, and looked so confining! It was such an unknown area, and the thought of going in by herself was frightening. But she had been told the quickest way to the east was through here rather than looping back around and going through the potentially less scary weeping forest.
The girl, already jumpy from the what if's going through her mind, jumped even more as there was a white blurred that passed beside her. She squeaked, sounding suspiciously like a frog's croak. Her bag was pulled to her chest, cuddling the eggs closer before she dared to look up. Oh my Shaymin that was a large Absol! Briefly she trembled before seeing, and hearing, the human figure on it's back.
"Oh." She croaked, that made a lot more sense. "I... I didn't expect to see anyone either." Soph gulped once more, trying to bring forth some spark of courage so that she could perhaps speak a little louder. "I'm Soph." She was able to squeak out, perhaps a little louder than before. Baby steps.
Clearing her throat. "Are you heading East too?" She asked, already begging and hoping that Koray was, it would be a lot less scarier if they were.
Koray smiled good naturedly at Soph when she gave her name. She seemed nervous and well, given how dark the cave was, he couldn't quite blame her. "Va'na, a little help please~?" he murmured to the Morelull who promptly hopped on top of Freda's head and started to glow, lighting the way ahead of them with ease. A gentle pat would have the Morelull making a happy sound while Koray listened to Soph. Oh, apparently she was headed East. That was convenient.
"I am actually. I was hoping to find some rare ingredients on the way to the next town while I was here too," he explained, "Wouldn't mind the company if you'd like to join us. Va'na's light should help until we reach the moss. I've heard it's quite the sight to behold." There was a reason the area was deemed the Gloworm Caverns after all.
Was it that obvious that she was scared of the dark? Well, less scared of the dark in general and more scared of what unknown things could be lurking in it. But with the help of the sweet Morelull giving off light helped quite significantly. And thank Shaymin that Koray was also heading this way, and didn't seem opposed to the idea of Soph joining their group. "T-thank you." Soph murmured, clearing her throat. She couldn't just keep speaking so quietly, Koray wouldn't be able to hear her otherwise.
"I'd.. appreciate that a lot. If you don't mind. Um, what sort of ingredients are you looking for? I can help keep an eye out for them. As a farmer, I may actually know what they look like." She spoke up slightly, wringing her hands around her bag. Koray was already helping her, so of course she wanted to help him in turn. That was fair right? And maybe she could ride with him too?
On second thought, that was way too close, even on such a large Absol who seemed more than capable. Oh. Soph frowned just a little as she reached into the side pocket of her bag. Who did she have right now who would be helpful? Maybe her little protectors? Two balls were freed and tapped. The lights forming into her two smallest companions who floated in the air.
"Cyris, Soni. This is Koray. We get to go through the caves with him, and he's looking for ingredients. Can you help out?" Soph asked more quietly of her Pokemon. Cyris, the petilil, in his typically quiet manner took a spot on her shoulder though appeared to be keeping a look out. And Soni let out a trill before spinning on the spot. Searching for ingredients sounded like fun! And maybe Soph could have some too. It would be nice to add to her farm and garden.
