"Smile for the camera, Haru!" [break][break] "Charr?" [break][break] Click! The selfie showed a grinning Kaisei holding up two fingers in a V sign, while next to him, a grimacing Charmander held up both three-fingered hands. "Well, it was a good try, and you look cute enough, right?" Haru expressed more confusion as Kaisei turned the camera phone so he could get a better look at the picture. The Charmander looked up at his trainer, not sure what to do with this information. [break][break] "Just sit tight now, I'm gonna send this to Novachan, and..." Kaisei swiped a few buttons and sent the picture through his phone's text messaging app. "Now we just wait. You excited?" As if on instinct, he fidgeted with his backpack again, checking on the two eggs inside for the umpteenth time that day - normally it wouldn't have been so much on his mind, but Eri Novae was a breeder for the stars, and the last thing he wanted was to be in trouble over his own egg maintenance. Satisfied, Kaisei zipped the backpack up, then turned his face northeastward, taking in the warmth of the unusually sunny morning. Ah, it was a good time to be journeying again. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv5, 5/5 Energy), Zangoose (Daigo, Lv1, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Eevee Egg (1/5 Hatching Posts), Pichu Egg (1/5 Hatching Posts) [break][break] Notes: 200 WC[break]
Eri had mostly been relaxing in her apartment, she wasn't sure when the brightest star in the whole wide world would summon her, so she had been busy in the nursery, checking on her eggs and their vitals, ensuring none of her mons who'd chosen to roam the apartment were messing with anything- making sure Arche didn't eat all of her cereal- basically just buzzing around the apartment with no stop in sight- stars she hadn't even gotten dressed yet! So when her phone had gone off with the selfie from Nebula Eri had giggled at such a cute picture- before realization hit her like a burning asteroid about to end the world as they knew it-
He was already out on the route! You never would have seen a star guide rush to prepare quick like Eri had. Five layers of skirts, petticoats and dresses were tried on, hair was adjusted, eggs were picked and herded into her large, pillowed trolley and Cosma was summoned to her side all within the span of five minutes. With all that sorted, Eri had hit the road!
Her hair was in double plaits today, with star pins interweaven with the braid and pushing her fringe slightly to the side, out of her face, and she'd worn a dress vaguely reminiscent of what she used to wear when she first was with Nebula. Everything was perfect, like a star guides appearance should be. She'll never admit it, but she ran to the route, using her trolley to give her extra speed with Cosma perched on the end to direct her.
Maybe that's why she was so puffed when she rocked up at the route, breath coming in soft pants- and when she spotted her friend she had to pretend everything was okay, obviously! Smoothing out her dress and pushing the trolley with one hand, basically radiating excitement and exhaustion at the same time, she yelled out, "Nebula!!" A hand was outstretched as she basically speed-walked the rest of the way there, basically bouncing. "It's Eri Novae-" as if he could forget, "-the stars are shining today!"
And then she was right infront of him, beaming brightly. Cosma squawked once before flapping up and onto her shoulder, cooing ever so gently in greeting. Had Kaisei even changed? She couldn't tell- though Eri struggled with telling things anyway. "I didn't take too long- did I??? The stars didn't warn me."
"Nebula!!" [break][break] Could it be--? There was only one person on the planet who would think to call him that right off. He turned to look. He hadn't seen her since she was a child, but it was unmistakably her, with that two-toned hair, that blindingly bright aura, and her dress, all lace and silver and-- were those stars? How many layers of petticoats were under there? He looked down at his own biker jacket and khakis and felt horribly underdressed. [break][break] She was right in front of him. Dammit, say something."You look. Um. Stellar," he attempted. "The stars. They picked a great outfit." [break][break] The little bird Pokemon on her shoulder cooed. "Oh! And you must be Cosma," he said, reaching his hand out in greeting. "Nova's told me about you. You look like a fine partner. This is Haru, my own from the lab." He nudged the Charmander forward, who inclined his head solemnly. Kaisei noticed Eri seemed a little out of breath, and then she asked if he had been waiting long. "Not at all. You showed up at just the right time. Actually, are you sure you got everything you need before we leave?" [break][break] That was when he noticed the trolley. One, two, how many eggs were in there? Five?"Wow, you uh... Looks like your breeder business is booming, huh? Don't suppose you've got room for two more?" He pulled the eggs out of his backpack, held them out to her for inspection. "This Eevee one, I decided to check out a Daycare on my own. And this Pichu, well... you know about my weakness for gacha games." He flashed a weak smile and hoped she wouldn't inquire about the current state of his wallet. "What about yours?" He scanned the trolley. A few normal eggs, one that seemed to be made of rock, another one that looked semi-transparent with goo inside, and a final one he couldn't quite place. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv5, 5/5 Energy), Zangoose (Daigo, Lv1, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Eevee Egg (2/5 Hatching Posts), Pichu Egg (2/5 Hatching Posts) [break][break] Notes: 325 WC[break]
As he responded Eri practically glowed with glee, it was Nebula! She was glad he approved of the outfit choice, hopefully the stars were sated now too, after-all- if she didn't look stellar than the stars might begin to doubt her credentials, which was the last thing she wanted! "In comparison to the stars around me, i'm outshone in every way~!" Stars were really good with fashion, as she'd noticed, trainers dressed up, or down, and their universal styles always amazed her. As a star guide, Eri couldn't begin to compare. But still, she continued, "And lightyears touched you stellarly! You're all in asteroid-weaved leather now!"
Cosma was more than delighted to have her name said, and fluffed up her feathers a little, squawking happily. Eri giggled in turn, and then brought her attention to Kaisei's partner, Haru, right? Aww. "Your star guide is so cute!" She moved around the trolley to get a better look at the Charmander, bending down to offer a hand for him to interact with however she wished and offering a smile as she took in his form, "Definitely a lab pokemon, whoever bred him wanted him to shine, i'm certain!" she moved to take a step back then, Cosma having to shift every so often to remain balanced on the constantly moving girl's shoulder.
Thankfully he hadn't waited long, Eri was sure she was going to take a cosmically long time and disappoint the star that she'd known for eons now- and thankfully that wasn't so. A soft "Thank the stars." left her, followed by her giving her trolley a once over and reaching to her back to ensure she had her bag- it probably had all her egg-care equipment and some snacks in there- though really it was up to the fates to decide if she'd forgotten anything. "Yep! Everything shooould be in there- if not, it was just fated that I didn't bring specific equipment- no biggie."
She trailed off as she noticed her friend eyeing up her trolley, and managed to gain a proud shimmer in her eye- yep! Her trolley, plucked off the side of the street, decorated and cushioned up to fit snugly for some eggs! Though it wasn't anything fancy that could check their temperature, she had her own tester in her bag- maybe. 'If the star want' to add them, then there's plenty of room!" She leaned over the trolley to, with as much care and precision as possible, shift her eggs gently over to allow room for Kaisei's own. "I hope you're taking care of them well- you don't mind if I check their temperatures, just to ensure there's nothing wrong- right? Maybe dust them in a little stardust for strength..." she paused, of course Nebula had a weakness for gacha games!
They were huge in arciel too- once she'd predicted a guy would win a gacha and he got so mad at her the next day he almost beat her up because he'd wasted all of his money, it was crazy! "Even if you say I can't, Nebula, i'm sure they'll turn out great~' oh, oh he was questioning her eggs?
She gestured to them as she spoke, sounding way too excited to go over each one, "This one's my Goomy egg- this guys been no trouble at all, easily able to regulate temperature- i've got a Corsola- though the galarian variant is much more popular... I have been debating purchasing some dust to transform them when they had but... hey, if you were a star- well- you are- but like- a customer- would you want kantonian or galarian?"
There she goes, getting sidetracked again! She blinked up at him them, while Cosma seemed to mimic Eri's stare, head tilting. It didn't seem like she was going to continue until she got her answer straight- at least not until she moved to point to another one, "Annnd this is Wailmer, and Tailow- and Kabuto!"
Asteroid-weaved leather? Even for Eri Novae, that was a new one. Kaisei wasn't sure if he was humoring her or amusing himself, but something possessed him to spin in a circle, showing off for her inspection. "You think I got a future in modeling?" he asked with a laugh. "I've seen the ad posters from time to time in Birch..." Now that was a good joke, the idea that Kaisei Nebula could ever have a future in doing honest work. Not that Novachan needed to know that, of course. [break][break] Not at all fazed by Eri's reaction, Haru stepped forward to take her hand and shake it solemnly. "Char..." he said, a pleasant hum along the lines of nice to meet you to Cosma as well as Eri. The Charmander stepped back to watch Kaisei hand the eggs to Eri, saying he trusted her to do whatever she wanted to help them grow happy and healthy. Temperatures, weighing and measuring, heck, even the stardust! Once the eggs were loaded into the cart, Kaisei lifted Haru up to take a peek inside as well, making sure to keep his tail flame away from the cushions. [break][break] As for the Corsola? "Well, my first instinct would be for the Galarian one, because it's rare," he admitted. "But, it's also said that those Pokemon are... cursed? In a way? So maybe the Kantonian one will sell better after all. I suppose it would be a matter of finding the right customer for the one you want to raise the most. But... preferably a non-cursed one. Not that I'm afraid of curses, or anything like that--" [break][break] He let out a high-pitched scream as one of the Pokeballs on his belt suddenly detached itself and burst open. In a flash of light, there stood an eight-foot-tall shiny Absol, who regarded the scene with piercing eyes. "Ah, ah, Novachan... this is Saber. The, uh, other... it was a surprise from Holly..." Kaisei looked like he wanted to hide under a rock at that moment. Haru, for his part, waved an arm in greeting to seeing his fellow lab Pokemon again. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv5, 5/5 Energy), Zangoose (Daigo, Lv1, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Eevee Egg (3/5 Hatching Posts), Pichu Egg (3/5 Hatching Posts) [break][break] Notes: 357 WC[break]
Eri grinned, if the star wanted a future in modelling, he'd shine bright enough surely to be able to get it! "If you wanted a future in modelling, I could refer to to agents of no cost!" would he wanna do modeling, or was he just messing about? Eri was unsure, but if he was keen on the idea she wouldn't hesitate to make a few calls to her contacts... anyway! One thing was for certain, Nebula had some really solid beginner pokemon! She probably should get to researching good starters, maybe the stars at the lab would call on her one day- and if they did she'd have to be ready!
As soon as she was given the go ahead she moved to take the temperatures of Nebula's eggs, quickly grabbing out her phone to compare averages- so one was a little under... she wrapped a blanket around it and sprinkled something that looked a bit like glitter but was actually a herbal blend online sources recommended for maintaining stable temperature- that she'd added a bunch of glitter to- before nodding to herself. Yes. Perfect! Reeling back in time for the star of the hour to begin talking again, Eri turned to beam at him as he dwelled upon her question.
Oh! Galarian?! Yeah, the rarity makes it more appealing to the star- ohhh... ohh yeah Nebula had a point, actually. Cursed versus the sellability. She nodded along as he spoke- and as he screamed Eri, startled, jumped back and let out a shriek of her own- the star was scared, so she should be scared! Cosma raised a wing and chirped, quickly attempting to calm the star guide down as she frantically looked about for the cause of the disturbance! Had anybody hurt the star guide?! Quick acting poison?! A muscle cramp?! It was a star guides job to-
Ohhhh a pokeball had opened on it's own. Eri's franticness quickly faded into giggles and she managed an awkward smile now, pushing a hand through her hair as Cosma nuzzled her small head into the girls neck. It took Eri a few seconds, but upon seeing the shiny mon her eyes sparkled and she quickly approached Saber. "Oh! Oh she's huge! And she's shiny! Her genes are stellar, no doubt- uhm- do you know her specific height?! She must have come from a breeder much different from Haru-" Eyes alight with sudden interest turned to Kaisei and pierced into his own, as Eri's hands went up to clutch excitedly at her chest.
"...can I breed her with my ditto?! She'd make stellar babies and I could get a real profit, absol are known in the industry to sell wonderfully too- I have my own!" She paused to take a breath, a quick puff of air before sliding right back into her excited tangent.
"Europa! That's their name- oh- and I have a few shinies! Two are newly hatched babies, Gliese my Popplio, he's super smart but often gets isolated by the other mons, I have to tell him he's stellar at least twenty times a day- annnd Cyllene my Raltz, she'd really shy and can't directly look at any other humans but me, then there's..." She began listening them off before pulling from her thoughts quickly, eyes blinking a few times as if realizing where she was- "Ah- uhm! Sorry! I just, uh..."
Her head tilted as her words trailed off into nothingness and became one with the stars above. She didn't really have excuses this time. "...Saber is a good mon, and so's Haru! I didn't upset your stars, did I? I could pay you back for the minutes of time I wasted if it'd make you shine brighter!"
One moment, everything was fine, and the next, he was screaming - and Novachan was screaming - damn it, did he scare her? and the next - well - he was frankly taken aback. He would never have expected to see anyone gushing over Saber the way Eri was right then, but once her words managed to filter their way into his head, he had to admit she did have a point. Shiny, and huge, yes it did make logical sense that those were good genes, if you were the kind of person who believed you could tame a Pokemon like that... and... was she asking if she could breed her? That customers wanted more giant Pokemon with horns the color of blood running around in the world? [break][break] His eyes flickered up to Saber. Would she actually agree to such a thing? Strangely, she seemed calmer than he'd ever noticed her, and she softly nodded in silent response to Kaisei's unspoken question, almost as if Pokemon and breeder were on the same wavelength. "Why, of course, I'd be happy if you wanted to give her babies!" he said to Novachan. "She is of course an exquisitely rare, extraordinarily unique specimen, but I'm willing to let you borrow her in exchange for an entirely reasonable fee, which by my calculations would come out to n-- NOTHING! Nothing at all!" He corrected himself as he felt Saber's glare bore into the back of his neck. "Ahahaha... what's a favor between friends, am I right?" [break][break] He listened as Eri told him about two of her other 'mons. Gods, that sounds so exhausting, he thought. Pokemon in the fighting pits were not exactly selected for their strong personalities, after all. "To be honest..." [break][break] He trailed off. He hated being honest. It was a lesson that had been drilled into him, over and over, growing up. Honesty, about things that didn't make you look like you were in control, like you knew everything, was just a way for others to take advantage of you. Something for others to use against you, to make you feel lesser to them. But Novachan wasn't like that, was she? They were friends, he ought to trust her, hell, even to people who weren't her friends, she wouldn't be like that as long as he had known her. [break][break] He pushed past the habit, resolved to trust her one more time. [break][break] "To be honest, for all the time that I've had Saber, I really don't know a lot about her. What she likes to eat, where she came from, I don't even know her exact height. And... I don't really know how I would go about finding out any of these things. I mean for the height obviously I could use a measuring tape but..." He was rambling again. "I don't even know why Professor Holly gave her to me. It's not like I would just go in there and say 'Hey, give me the rarest, most special Pokemon you have.' She seemed to accept me as her partner, but I don't really understand what she hopes to get out of it. It's not like she even likes me." He looked over in Saber's direction, wondering if she had heard, but she was busy sniffing at the sides of the trolley. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv5, 5/5 Energy), Zangoose (Daigo, Lv1, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Eevee Egg (4/5 Hatching Posts), Pichu Egg (4/5 Hatching Posts) [break][break] Notes: 547 WC[break] Would Eri like to use Saber for one of her weekly breeds this month? Feel free to Discord me!
Eri waited in anticipation for Nebula's response, eyes wide and curious. Such a large, shiny mon could be an astounding opportunity for her business, of course her ditto was huge too so even if the Absol hadn't been huge there was always a chance she could get similar results of breeding her own Absol... but the rates and gene spread were more favourable if Saber was added into the mix! She could see Nebula thinking over her words, and could only shift her stance slightly as she waited, Cosma shifting to fly off and perch on the edge of the trolley, near the handle, rather than stiffly remain on Eri's shoulder, the bird staring down at Eri's set of eggs.
As he spoke Eri couldn't help the bright beam that adorned her features, yes!! She could count on Nebula to understand business practices and the rarity of things! Hands moved to clap together as he continued speaking! That's right, Saber was rare and unique and stellar! And... fee? She blinked, head tilting as her hands moved to idle by her hips. Well, yeah, of course there'd be a-
Nothing?! Eyes widened further and an excited, "Wait, really?!" left her. That was stellar- no wonder Nebula was such a bright star!! "Oh my stars- thank you! I do have to pay prices of my own for the maintenance of eggs- and I could always give you an egg or two from the batch whenever you want..." she trailed off with a shake of her head, grinning brighter. "I'll have to make a bunch of arrangements, but of course she's only new so i'll let you get settled and her get used to be around people and her current environment before even thinking of anything else!"
Whiiiich sounded like the right plan of action. Annyway! She spoke about her other shiny mon eagerly and once more brought her hands together during her enthusiastic tangent, eyes seeking out Nebula's response right after, only for her to become momentarily concerned by his hesitance. To be honest? Honest about what? Her shinies? His opinion on the stars? Another star who'd started a war with him?! Maybe that was a bet of a fetch, but with the fates anything was possible!
As he began rambling Eri listened intently, as a star guide would for any star! Nodding her head and humming! He wasn't a breeder, there were specifics that he didn't need to know about his own partner, things the nurses or caretakers could find out. And it didn't help he got her from a lab that didn't really give away their specific breeders, what they fed their mons, their choosing methods... Eri's gaze turned to Saber then, and she let out a curious hum, before smiling and turning her sighs on Nebula. "It's okay to not know much about her! It's not like the lab disclosed her origins or any information about her to you before she was given- a lot of things like her character when she was newly hatched, her breeder, the best diet... I could talk to the lad lady about it, actually... maybe..." She shook her head then, and brought a finger forward to point to Nebula. "Anyway! I've told you this before! Everything in this world is predetermined by the stars- she was given to you because the fates said for it to be so! Perhaps the professor, like me, can see your stellar potential- maybe she's even a star guide?!"
For a moment Eri's hand went to her mouth, as if calculating the likelihood of that revelation before shaking her head. "Doubtful... anyway! I'm sure you'll find out a lot about her the more you're with her, all these things just come naturally, right? Even if it doesn't feel like you know anything about her now." Eri brought her hands to idly poof out her skirt, a hum leaving her, 'Buuut- if you do want... one place to start..." Or... it seems it wasn't idly! She brought out a tape measure from one of her small pockets, holding it out to her friend proudly.
'Why not at the easiest step! A breeder always has a tape on her!"
Kaisei was silent for a long time, carefully taking in each of Novachan's words. Everything predetermined by the stars... he had to admit, under these circumstances? Yes, that was as good an explanation as any. And he found he rather liked it. Two shining stars, drawn together by fate... he chuckled a little inwardly at the notion that Saber would ever consider himself a star on par with herself, and that just made it all the sweeter. Nodding his head, he smiled at Eri. [break][break] "Of course. What you've said has put my mind at ease, Novachan. So thank you." In exchange, he supposed he'd answer one of her questions. He took the proffered tape measure and walked over to Saber, beckoning Haru closer. "Hmm, you might be a little small to help with the tape measure, though. Daigo!" He threw another Pokeball into the air, and released from it an enormous Zangoose, who looked with trepidation at the small measuring tape. "Saber, we're just going to find your sizes, ok? Hold still now!" He silently mouthed it's for Novachan and flashed her a grin. Saber gave both humans an incredulous look before standing stock still, allowing Kaisei to draw the tape along the length of her body, while Daigo held onto the unrolling spool. [break][break] "Body length... 8 feet, 6 inches. Tail length... 6 feet, 7 inches. Total length, 15 feet, one inch. Body width... 3 feet, 7 inches. Now for the height... bottom of the foot to shoulder, 7 feet, 10 inches. If you could bend down, I'll get your horn..." He waited for Saber to lower into a crouch before working the tape alongside her still rather frightening scythe-shaped horn, remembering to account for the curve. "Looks like 4 feet, 7... 7 and a half inches." He lowered the tape as Saber stretched back up to her full height and shook out her muscles. [break][break] "Cosma, think you can help us out here?" Kaisei walked back to Eri and held out the measuring tape, not to the breeder, but to her small bird. "I'd like to get Saber's full height, but none of us can reach the top of her head, except for you. What do you say?" [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv5, 5/5 Energy), Zangoose (Daigo, Lv1, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Eevee Egg (5/5 Hatching Posts), Pichu Egg (5/5 Hatching Posts) [break][break] Notes: 369 WC[break] Plz to forgive I am a dumb American who doesn't use metric >,>[break] Kaisei doesn't know yet but Saber's head height is 3'5.75", which makes her total height 11'3.75".
Eri's grin brightened even more-so as Nebula assured her of her star guide prowess and how she was able to help! She'd been momentarily worried she had said too much but it seems now there was no reason to be so stressed! Annnnd he wanted to measure his pokemon! Eri was already rehearsing just what she'd say to the lab lady in her head, but there were more important tasks as hand! Liiiike measuring Saber-
Eyes widened as Kaisei called her too small, and she was just about to make a point of puffing out her cheeks and saying no star-guides are too small to be doing their jobs and the celestials made them the perfect size for their tasks when... a massive Zangoose was released. Eri's eyes widened slightly- oooh. Yeah they were probably a better star guide for the role- oh- oh he was reading out measurements! Eri shifted out her phone, opening notes and began furiously tapping them down.
Cosma stayed by Eri's side until she was called, flapping her little wings curiously- and then let out a curious coo as she was offered a measuring tape. Eri raised an eyebrow, head tilting ever so slightly... at least until her partner was asked to help out! Cosma let out a chirp then, bobbing her body as if imitating a nod! She'd never helped measure things before!
Her eyes flicked from Saber to Nebula before she let out a softer, more confused coo... Did she... fly up above Saber with the tape in her mouth? Was somebody supposed to hold the end of the tape?? Cosma required assistance!
Cosma's eyes flickered back and forth between Kaisei, Saber, Eri, and the tape. It sounded like she was willing to help! Or... was she waiting for instructions? Kaisei felt a little silly giving direction to a Pokemon that wasn't his own, but he supposed that with Novachan's permission, it would be all right. [break][break] "Don't worry, it'll be extremely simple," Kaisei said to the bird. "All I'd like you to do is hold the end of the tape in your beak, fly up onto Saber's head, and dangle the rest of the tape down. Then I can hold the other end next to Saber's foot and we can get the measurement number. Saber, you'll hold still, won't you?" The Absol reclined onto her haunches into a sitting position, holding out her forelegs stiffly and craning her neck toward the sky. Kaisei smiled back at the Natu, unrolling the tape a bit so she could grab onto the end. [break][break] While he did that, he took a moment to glance at his phone, noticing that the selfie with Haru was still open. How was his Charmander doing, anyway? Oh -- it seemed Haru was getting a little antsy and starting to wander off. "Should we get going soon after this?" he asked the young breeder. [break][break] Party Update: Charmander (Haru, Lv9, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Zangoose (Daigo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Eevee Egg (5/5 Hatching Posts), Pichu Egg (5/5 Hatching Posts) [break][break] Notes: 211 WC[break]
A grateful chirp was what would leave Cosma's beak as Kaisei went on to explain what was explected of her, wings fluffing out slightly in understanding. She was quick to take the tape and do as asked, flying up and landing as gracefully as possible on the Absol's head, little legs hopping to try and get in a decent position before she wiggled the tape around and let the male trainer do the rest of the work. Eri watched the whole time with a beam on her face, mainly of excitement for her own darling star guide being able to help, practically bouncing on the spot.
As Nebula directed his attention to her Eri giggled, shifting slightly to rest her hands on the grips of her trolley. "If that's what the star wants! We could do anything, do you mean going on an adventure? Down the route?" Her head would tilt ever so slightly then, as she followed with, "I'd love to see your star guides capabilities, Nebula!"
Making sure not to pull the measuring tape too tight lest it slip out of Cosma's beak, Kaisei carefully lowered it against the length of Saber's leg, then read off the number where it reached the ground. "Eleven feet, four--no, three and three-quarters inches." He was not rounding up, not where it came to the fearsome Absol. Let her be content with exactness. When Cosma was done, he rolled the tape up for Novachan, then handed it back to her, noting her smiling face and her hands gripping the trolley - she must be as eager to get going as the rest of them were! [break][break] And she wanted to see his Pokemon in action? "Adventure it is, then!" he said, pumping a fist before directing his gaze down the route toward Cedar Town. "Let's go, everyone! We could run into anything!" Would it be a rival trainer? Perhaps a wild Pokemon? Whatever it was, it had better be strong -- he wasn't about to look uncool in front of Novachan. Haru led the way with Kaisei close behind, Saber let out a soft trill before following them, and Daigo stayed in the back, waiting to see if Eri needed any assistance with the trolley. [break][break] Party: Charmander (Haru, Lv9, 5/5 Energy), Absol (Saber, Lv7, 5/5 Energy), Zangoose (Daigo, Lv5, 5/5 Energy), Tyrogue (Hayato, Lv6, 5/5 Energy), Eevee Egg (5/5 Hatching Posts), Pichu Egg (5/5 Hatching Posts) [break][break] Notes: 204 WC[break]
Cosma went about helping as best she could, staying steady with the measuring tape in her beak while watching the happenings below. Eri, on the other hand let out a soft gasp as the numbers were spoken, a beam back on her face. "That's so tall!" She found herself leaning slightly over the trolly, on the tips of her toes as if to check if tht really was the numbers, though she was quick to remember that Trolleys needed proper balance and she righted herself, she couldn't put her eggs in danger like that!
The tap measure was pocketed when it was offered and an airy giggle left her at Nebula's eagerness for adventure, that was the childhood friend she knew! Everything began smoothly enough, Cosma returned to Eri's shoulder and gently coo'd, just watching the area around her. Eri of coruse trailed behind Nebula, eagerly pushing the trolley, and when she noticed Daigo she paused. "Did you wanna try pushing the cart, star guide?" She tilted her head a little and stepped to the side, as if to see what the Zangoose would do.
Whatever happened, she'd continue forward, a slight skip to her step in excitement. "You know, this reminds me of being back in Johto!" She would have continued, however the sound of a threatening growl from nearby had Eri pausing, a concerned noise leaving her. Eyes flicked around the area, only to see two star guides who had seemed to be resting nearby directing their attntion towards Eri and Nebula- ahhh- Eri's eyes widened in alarm.
Stars, what had you sent for them?! A chill danced down Eri's spine and she pushed her hands quickly through her bag, "N-Nebula?" Wait, wait they looked like they were going to attack- uh- Eri had a quick ball but.... Nebula would know what to do! Eyes flicked to him then, waiting.
Did he want to try pushing the cart... Star guide? Daigo looked surprised and briefly pointed to himself, before gratefully nodding up and down and carefully setting his hands over the handle of the trolley. Gently pushing it, one foot in front of the other, he maintained a close eye on the innocent little eggs within, while the young breeder skipped forward. [break][break] "You're right, Novachan -- you can smell the sea breeze, just like when we were going down Route 32!" Kaisei said. Those were the days - he could remember the days of setting off with his Totodile even now. Of course the Pokemon that stood before them right now were like nothing that he had encountered in Johto. They must have traveled inland from the coast, one of them being a jellyfish and the other - a massive upside-down squid. "Saber!" Without needing to be told, the Absol sprung into action, positioning her body between the Malamar and Eri, who was bent over her backpack as if searching for something. She wasn't looking for a fight, but she would defend her people to the best of her ability if it came down to it. [break][break] Which only left the Frillish, who was sauntering forward in challenge. Kaisei mentally ran through his options - he hadn't expected an encounter with a ghost, and his team was dreadfully unprepared - save for Saber, and he couldn't distract her from the Malamar. Maybe if Haru could burn the thing...? [break][break] "Pichu! Pi pi pi!" [break][break] What? Kaisei whipped his head around and saw the Pichu he had been carrying in Novachan's trolley - only it must have hatched out of its egg without him even realizing it. It had somehow made it all the way from the inside of the cart to hanging off the edge, where Daigo stared at it, mirroring Kaisei's own confusion. The Frillish was undeterred and readied a Water Gun attack, right at the Pichu-- [break][break] "Not the cart!" Kaisei yelped, and threw himself in between the Frillish and the trolley. Cold water splattered on his back, and he could already see the dry cleaning bill in his head. Something then smacked on top of his head - the Pichu, doing a flying leap off of him and into the air, where it charged up electricity in its cheek pouches. The Frillish quickly adjusted its aim and fired another stream of water, straight at the Pichu, who released the Thunder Shock-- [break][break] --which traveled all the way down the Water Gun back to the Frillish's mouth. She made a surprised Pikachu face as she was zapped. [break][break] Kaisei reached into his own bag and threw a Poke Ball. There was a reason her friend was a star! She watched as he bounced into action, or- directed Saber to! Eri found her hands gently cradelling her quick ball, pulling it out and holding it to her chest incase of an emergency where there was no other option. Saber was infront of her, thankfully, though that meant she could barely see what was going on from behind the massive Abol. A soft squeak left Eri as she leaned to the side slightly, curiosity getting the best of her- she just wanted to see the action after all! The Malamar... it was getting closer- she just hoped it hadn't noticed her cart! Aaaaah...
Eyes flicked to her cart only for an even louder noise to leave her, a glowing egg- the Pichu hatched?! Why now, fates? She was able to spot Nebula looking shocked, maybe? She wasn't good at telling emotions... stars stars stARS it was going for the cart and- A growl had ripped Eri's attention away from her precious eggs to see a Malamar gaining on her and Saber, uh- uhmm?!
Eri wasted no time, she didn't have a good aim but she couldn't risk anything! A soft, "Fates be in my favour..." Left her before she stepped saround Saber and all but piffed the quickball at the massive water-types direction.
Kaisei let out a deep sigh of relief as the ball dinged to indicate a successful capture. But what of the Malamar? He looked for it and... it wasn't in the spot he had seen it last? But surely Saber would have fought it. Did it really turn tentacle and run? His gaze drifted downward and saw a Pokeball, or more specifically, one of the specialty Pokeballs that were usually only stocked at the fancy department stores. A Quick Ball? He hadn't even realized Eri had one of those. He motioned for Saber to stand aside, clearing the way for Eri to retrieve her ball. [break][break] "Nova, Nova, Novachan," he gently tsked her. "What have I said before? When you've got the perfect throw, you can't hesitate. You gotta be decisive. That's what makes a great trainer." [break][break] His attention then turned to his own Pokeball, and the Pichu standing beside it, gloating over his victory. "Now, as for you..." [break][break] It needs a fitting name, he thought, as he carried the it back to the trolley. Pichu. The baby form of Pikachu. Evolves into Raichu. The mouse baby leaped from his arms into the top rack of the cart and immediately started barking orders at Daigo, as if he were a VIP and the Zangoose were his chauffeur. "Rider," he said, amused at the punny coincidence. "That'll be your name."
