It was an odd time of day, too early for a lot of people on the weekend like this. Though there was still a few people about at nine in the morning. And it was quiet and peaceful, until a certain skater was rolling by on the cleared sidewalk. The lack of people made the task easy, and the fact the sidewalk was plowed or shoveled regularly also helped.
Damn was it good to be out! Sai was grinning, the look bordering on maniacal with the sheer elation he was feeling from the amount of time he'd been having to spend inside the past several days. Packing, traveling and moving was note his forte Sim9n had decided and he'd much rather not have to do it again. So the young man took the time to show off, one hand on his head to keep his hat in place before the wind threatened to take it away. And so what if the cold air stung his cheeks? Lot better than being inside the length of time he had.
But now he was at his destination, the young man kicking his skateboard upwards to tuck it under his arm. He was dressed to impress, or at least make a good impression with his black hat, tan jacket, black pants and red button down shirt. He was meeting the Professor of Arciel after all.
Sai took in a breath, knocking on the door to be let in. "Hey, I'm Sa..." He sighed heavily and shook his head, palm meeting forehead quickly. They'd still have him as 'Simon' on paper. "I'm Simon Savage, a new Ranger here to see Professor Holly?" Amber eyes met those of the likely assistant who let him in. He took his hat, shaking it off to be sure any snow was gone before making his way inside and nodding politely in greeting.
((Standard selection, flying type preference please. Also need his 2nd Ranger starter :) ))
The assistant that let him in immediately scurried off to go and alert the professor, who appeared not long after with a clipboard in hand. After perusing the papers on it for a bit she looked up and gave him a curt nod. "Simon Savage? We've been expecting you."
There was a case on the desk nearby which she moved over to now, opening it with a creak to reveal three poke balls on a large velvet cushion. She took each in turn and opened them to reveal the pokemon inside.
"These are the pokemon we've selected for you here at the lab. Once you've made your decision, you will receive a second, courtesy of the Ranger's Guild here in Arciel."

He winced a little as he walked in after the assistant, them hurrying off made it almost seem like that they were scared of him. Eyes were looking at the ground as he flicked his hat off again needlessly. His eyes only lifted when the only person who could be the Professor walked in. Clipboard in hand, an air of authority that was familiar and actually soothing to him as he straightened his shoulders, holding his hat in front of him respectfully. "Yea ma'am, that's me. Sorry for any delays I may have caused." Sai bowed forward, straightening out at the sound of her footsteps and looking towards the desk she was now at.
It was almost intimidating to have the case opened to reveal the three pokeballs within, his chest tightening anyway as the Pokemon were released. Though he soon released the breath he held at the sight of the three bird Pokemon were released. The Pidgey was already flying and cooing while the Fletchling and Starly were currently content to sit on the floor. The Starly preening a wing, only the Fletchling paying total attention to Sai at that moment.
At least until he whistled, mimicking one of the sounds that bird type Pokemon tended to make. This of course got all of their attention and the young man was swarmed by the birds, though he was chuckling the whole while, whistling again in a bird call. Reaching into an inner pocket, Simon pulled out a little bag of bird seed. Looking to the Professor as assistants first. "Is this okay?" He asked, meaning feeding the Pokemon before he was dumping a pile into his hand and letting the birds land on his arm. Though the Pidgey settled on his head instead and stared almost untrustingly as the Starly and Fletchling landed on his arms. Good thing he was wearing a jacket, the sleeves protected his arms.
The Fletchling especially had an impressive grip, the young man smiling as he watched the Starly peck at the seeds in his hand. Though when he reached up to pet one of it wings, either he startled him, or the Starly didn't liked to be touched like that and he was snapped at. He pulled his hand back, though he was still nipped.
"It's fine." Simon held up his hand, showing that he wasn't bleeding in case anyone tried to freak out about the potential injury. And at these motions, the Pidgey began to fly around the room again, seeming to not totally trust the boy yet. So Sai focused on the relatively calm Fletchling, and this time when his free hand was lifted to stroke the bird, the red capped bird let him, cooing and puffing his chest into the contact. Sai smiled a little brighter, and offered his other arm out as a perch, which the Fletchling hopped onto. He whistled again to the little bird, and the bird copied his little tune.
Simon nodded, looking back to the Professor. "I'd like the Fletchling please." Sai spoke up, head already wrapping around what he could name the little bird. "I think I'd like to name her Kushina, Shina for short. How do you like that?" The bird tweeted happily.
"Very well," Holly's voice is a little quieter now as she observed the trainer and his new Fletchling. Returning the other two and setting the Pokeballs back in their cases, she picked up another Pokeball that had been set aside. "As mentioned, the Ranger Union, has already decided on a Pokemon for you," she went on then opening the Pokeball.

With that decided, Sai shifted his hand, letting the Fletchling, now his Fletchling have some of the bird seed that the Starly hadn't been kind enough to share. Though that had also been due to lack of space at his hand, which there was now plenty of. So the young man encouraged the bird to hop over, which she did and then began to peck at the bird seed her now trainer had so kindly offered her.
"Yes, I got an email about it as well. Thank you for taking care of them for me." Simon smiled, still slightly enthralled with his new partner. Though, it would be rude to not pay attention to his other partner as they were released.
And, he couldn't help but laugh, quickly biting his lip to cut himself off. "Well, this will be interesting." Carefully the young man knelt down to look at the cat that the Ranger Union had sent him. This would indeed be very interesting.
"Well, it's nice to meet you all the same." The Meowth mewled at him curiously, pawing at the offered hand before smiling up at him. "You'll need a name too. How about.... Seri?" Sai offered, smirking when the cat mewed and twirled herself around. That seemed like an affirmative.
Standing upright, Sai took the offered pokeballs. Seri got a pat before he was returning her to her ball. He couldn't very well carry two Pokemon and his skateboard right now. "Thank you again Professor Holly. It was a pleasure to meet you." Sai waited for the Professor's response, bidding farewell to her assistants as well before he was leaving.
Though he did sit outside on his skateboard for awhile, letting Kushina have her fill of bird seed before she too was returned to her ball. It was cold, and he had a place he wanted to get to.
