The quiet tap tap tap of Great Serpent the Scolipede’s numerous powerful legs crunching over the soft snow was audible in the still silence of the Weeping Forest. It echoed in Sid’s head and reassured them of their own existence there in this surreal place. Despite countless times of traversing the forest to get from Birch to Fuji and back again, Sid had never once gotten comfortable. There was always a sense of unease that they could not account for, a tightening in their chest that they could not control. Red eyes flashed one way and then the next taking in the dark barren trees that stretched out every which way but offered no comfort or closure. It was so much worse in the winter.
Great Serpent moved with purpose through the area. He had known much scarier places than this, already, and he trusted whatever came forth, he could deal with. Still, Sid’s general unease was affecting him whether he wanted to admit it or not. They were his trainer and should have been his confidant. It was…. uncomfortable that he had to be theirs in this case. A low hum escaped from him as he tried to reassure them once more that it was fine. Sid looked forward at him and said nothing substantial back— just a slow sort of “Mmhmmmghm….” They just needed to get out as soon as possible as far as Sid was concerned. GS tapped on a little faster.
A cry from overhead would cause Sid and GS to stop and look back alarmed. Above them, a standard sized Pawniard stood— and then leapt from the trees to land out in front of them. Hmmmm? Was it from the swarm on Route 7? Or was the Weeping Forest its natural home? Sid would guess the latter from the defensive stance it took as if ready to defend its territory at all costs.
Squinting softly, Sid debated having GS just fight. On one hand, they wouldn’t be able to use Poison tactics, and he was their ride Pokemon. On the other, they didn’t have many good Pokemon for a match up right then. Well. They. Supposed they could…. Try and order around…. Glitch. Paralyzing the Pawniawrd was going to be the best and and… yeah that didn’t sound like a good idea on any front, but Sid needed to try. They just… needed to try. Grabbing out his Pokeball, they released the Rotom. “Shock Wave, Glitch,” they spoke softly but sternly even as they prepared to shield their phone.
To their surprise, the Rotom did what was asked and released a spray of shocks at the Pawniard. The latter yelped and hissed backing up and then running forward with a Metal Claw in retaliation. The ghost snickered and fazed into a tree— letting the wood take the damage. Ok, ok this was fine. “Confuse Ray, Glitch,” Sid went on, and sure enough another round of shocks paralyzed the Pawniard. Sid sighed and quickly returned Glitch before tossing a Pokeball at the Pawniard.
SNAP! That was the Pokeball ripping apart as the Pawniard escaped and shattered the ball along with it. Staring defiantly at the trainer, the Pawniard shakily raised a blade again ready to fight at any cost. Sid grimaced. They really didn’t want to hurt the Pawniard much more than they already ha— “GLITCH!” Without considering their trainer’s feelings, the Rotom had sparked again and released another Shock Wave that ruptured through the Pawniward and sent her crashing back into a tree. Sid was quick to whip out their Pokeball and recall Glitch before it did any more damage.
Closing the distance between the now struggling Pawniard and themselves, Sid bent down and examined the damage— or did as best they could as they had to back up again when the small knife Pokemon made a whipping motion with her arm blade. Awkwardly, Sid sat back unsure of what to do. If they could just restrain her then… No, she was already really hurt and…. Fishing out a Razz Berry, they slowly held it forward. “Sorry…. You’re just… very hurt, and I was concerned…” they murmured out holding the berry forward. The Pawniawrd stared at it for a moment debating if this was a trick or not before stabbing it and then immediately eating it. Sid breathed out and smiled before fishing out a Pokeball and tossing it at the Pawniard again.

This time the Pokeball held, and Sid sighed in response. Thank goodness. They’d have to see to the Pawniard’s injuries (or have another nurse see to them) as soon as they got back. For now, though, a stronger chain of communication was between them with the Pokeball there. A soft push of something against them had Sid looking back to the curious and vaguely worried Scolipede that had watched the battle. “Ah….. I’m alright,” Sid assured slowly reaching up to pat GS. The Scolipede made a low strange noise before leaning into their hand and allowing Sid to climb on again. Hopefully nothing else would drop down so strangely in front of them.
Sid has an EXP share. Honedge [Excalibur, 34 -> 35 (catch up from another thread)], Rotom [Glitch, 30 -> 32 (catch up from another thread, technically just +1 here)], Audino [Nurse, 31 +1 EXP SHARE ], Scolipede [Great Serpent, 32], Espeon [Angel, 37], Blissey [Graces, 30]

[TAG] Mothim's had an easy life and struggles to take much seriously, he loves nothing more than to lounge around, eat berries and nap on literally any surface that he lands on.
As he doesn't take much seriously, a roll must be made before he's used for battle to see if he takes the trainers instructions seriously, if the roll is under a 15 he will instead refuse to hit.
He can be trained out of this through having [1] training thread dedicated to teaching him proper discipline.

Onwards Sid and Great Serpent went through the deep depths of underbrush. Luckily the path still remained relatively clear, and they had no other stops that were altogether impervious to pass. However, after a while, GS would grow a bit tired, and Sid was a little saddle worn. They found a nice log to relax next to and took their time recuperating.
Numerous Pokemon came and went here and there. In the distance, a Stantler (or was that a Sawsbuck? Hard to tell at a distance) watched them. A pair of Hoothoot flew overhead lazily. A tree shifted strangely about, and Sid was aware that it was more than a tree. Still, the forest was… rather peaceful, as Sid realized. Perhaps their fears had been overextended here— just a little.
As a Mothim fluttered by, however, Sid’s eyes lit. Oh! They very much loved Mothra, and another moth in the collection would be very nice! “GS, would you would you catch its attention?” They asked.
Great Serpent looked up to the Mothim and frowned. He looked… odd, but he couldn’t say why. Flailing his tail about, though, he whacked the moth unexpectedly. The Mothim yelped startled and fell out of the air. Looking at Sid incredulously, he then looked at the Scolipede and huffed dusting himself off. Glowing bright, pink, powerful, he released a Psybeam back! GS took the damage with a startled cry.
Sid’s eyes widened as they realized they had inadvertently brought about an opening. Shoot. “Poison Tail then Venoshock of it gets poisoned…” they spoke a little uncertainly. GS shook off the damage as best he could before retaliating swinging his tail about and smashing the Mothim into a tree. Sure enough, he was poisoned, and a follow up of Venoshock was enough to down him for a moment.

As the Pokeball dinged in capture, Sid smiled a little. “Good work,” they looked back towards GS again. The Scolipede looked back and flashed an uncanny grin. Sid blinked slowly before just as slowly smiling back. Perhaps there was more to Great Serpent than they had yet to see. Before Sid could think more on this, however, a droplet of water hit them square in the cranium. Instinctively, Sid looked up and met a face full of droplets. When had those dark clouds come? They were rather beautiful, though.
“…. We need to look for some cover,” Sid spoke softly looking back down again. GS shook out his entire body immediately spraying them with tiny droplets back. On realizing this, the Scolipede immediately started apologizing. Sid only laughed and rubbed a few droplets off their face. “Come on, let’s see if we can find a cave or maybe a good solid tree…” They said a bit softer, more seriously, before starting to walk rather than climb back on. GS followed after them quickly.
Moving through the underbrush, Sid and GS came to stop in the inlet of a particularly large tree. Its roots were partially unearthed and stretched out wildly in different directions. Its branches were full despite the winter cold and blocked out the rain as it came down. Carefully pushing themselves all the way against the base of the tree, Sid managed to find shelter. Great Serpent had to get just a little more creative being much bigger and ended up wrapping partially around the tree instead. It was there that they waited out the rain.
It was quiet for a little, but even in the rain, sounds of life were abound. Above them, a couple of Greedent bounced from branch to branch carrying entirely too many berries in their massive tails. One fell down, actually, and Sid watched as another bounced down to grab it quickly before continuing on again.
As the rain slowly cleared up again, Sid and Great Serpent eased out from under the tree. Sid checked their person to make sure everything was still relatively dry and then brushed GS a little bit before climbing on again. They scuttled through the brush once more headed slowly but surely towards town.
That was, at least, until they came upon a massive sleeping behemoth blocking the path. GS stopped short to ‘rear’ up and look down at the Snorlax derisively. Sid, meanwhile, slid a little in the process and leaned forward to try and compensate. “Oh my….” Snorlax was a Pokemon very familiar to Sid, and they couldn’t help but grin softly at that. “You are very otaku by nature, friend….” They spoke slowly sliding sideways off GS much to the Scolipede’s dismay. “Large and sle—“
Crunch… Sid’seyes widened. Their pupils shrank. One second they had been standing sideways next to the sleeping beast, the next, they were crushed into the ground under him. The weight of Arceus knew how much was shoving them into the ground, and Sid was left squirming and struggling desperately trying to breathe. GS was hissing and flailing in a panic. Get off get off get off his trainer!! Poison Tail, Bug Bite, hell even a Venoshock was thrown out in a panic even as the Snorlax went on sleeping. As the beast was finally forced one direction, Sid managed to move their arm just enough to grab a Pokeball and tap the Snorlax. Even if it was only for a second, they felt the weight gone and struggled to their feet again.
Sid just barely managed to avoid being squashed again as the Snorlax broken from the Pokeball in a dramatic show of force. Great Serpent, however, was not so lucky. As the Snorlax started rolling, he would be squashed briefly and taken as collateral as the larger beast went rolling into the underbrush like a juggernaut of hell finally returning from whence it came.
“GS!” Sid’s voice didn’t sound near as powerful as they wanted it to be as they rasped out and immediately stumbled over to their Scolipede. Luckily Pokemon were a bit more durable than humans, and what had winded and weakened Sid had just been a vague annoyance for GS. The latter shook it off with a huff. Sid immediately collapsed on him right after.
It took a little, but slowly, Sid climbed back on GS, and the Scolipede started moving again through the forest. Luckily, nothing else too terrible happened.... that trip.
