Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
Soren had hardly been in Arciel for more than a day before he realized something that was pretty darn important; you needed money to do stuff out here, like eating (which was perhaps the most important of them all), travelling, buying clothes, maybe staying somewhere nice, etc. He'd known that, of course, when he packed up what he could and left, and even on the boat ride over had browsed wanted ads and struck up conversations with lonely little old ladies that might need someone to carry their groceries or mow their lawns or something. But by the time he'd disembarked he'd been so excited to see everything there was to see as fast as he possibly could that he'd... forgotten he needed some kind of cash flow coming in.
So that was how he found himself standing on an empty lot with a handful of other burly men - and pokemon - bundled up against the light chill of the morning as the sun struggled to peek through the clouds overhead, the mystery egg he'd received nestled in the satchel at his side. They were going to build a series of houses, the ad said, for the underprivileged, poorer class of Arciel. He'd never actually built a house before, but if there were pokemon it shouldn't be that hard, right? Right.
The first step was to clear the lot of any lingering debris and to start work on the foundation. While a few of the pokemon began to pummel the ground to get the more earthy dirt clumps to lay flat, Soren and a few others began to move branches and larger rocks out of the way, clearing them for the cement trucks that started rolling in.

He figured about fifteen feet away was a good spot to drop the debris he'd collected, and once he's dumped them in the pile with the rest of the materials he turned around in time to see a particularly burly Machoke directing the truck where to go. There were already people clearing out of its way, and as the steady beeping of the truck sounded through the air the bed of it began to lift up, sending long planks of wood and support beams tumbling to the ground below. The few men that had been standing around moved to gather and collect them so they could begin assembling them into something resembling a good base, and one of the men, presumably a foreman, went around directing them on placement and the like.
Soren jogged back over to assist, making sure not to jostle his egg too much, and he lifted several of the beams effortlessly before moving to dump them in the deep trenches dug into the perimeter of where the house would be. He slid down the walls carefully, joining the few men already crouched in the grooves, angling the wooden beams just right before the concrete would be poured in. It looked straight to him, at least, but the foreman was coming by and so he'd probably hear from them if he did an all right job or not.

Since he'd been directed to stay it was a pretty good bet that he was doing everything all right. Once the beams were in place and the concrete was poured in, he waited until he was directed to get up out of the trench and did so, shuffling his feet and freeing them of any clinging dirt or debris. Once that was done they didn't have to wait that long for it to dry, and then the pipes for the house were laid out and ready to be assembled. For what was essentially building a house, there wasn't all that much heavy lifting involved, and Soren was unsure if he was grateful or a little wary.
Once everything seemed sorted out another truck arrived, unloading more wooden beams that were a different shape than what they'd used for the foundation. Like before Soren took up a good amount and moved to where another builder was starting to form the walls and the floor. The sounds of hammers hitting wood and nails rang through the air for a little while as they were assembled, and as the foreman went through distributing nails and hammers Soren took one, shifting the egg in the satchel at his hip and trying to figure out where... to hammer. He didn't have to wait for very long, though, because the foreman was back and directing him the placement of the nails and studs, and it wasn't soon until he was hammering the wood efficiently, contributing to the slowly forming skeleton of the house.

Everyone seems to be appreciating your work. A young lad walks around and hands you a water bottle before going to distribute more of them to the works. Stay hydrated!
They were making good progress, and rather fast even with the handful of workers they had. Between the pokemon and the foreman, all of the construction crew that had been gathered were making good progress, and it wasn't long until they had a rather well-constructed frame sitting upright and held up by wooden beams used to brace it and keep it still. A few of the workers stopped for a moment, some to take breathers, others to stop and eat a quick bite, and Soren was debating on what to do and checking the egg in his satchel when a young kid walked up and handed him a water bottle.
Soren blinked, but grinned in appreciation and waved his thanks, and then uncapped the bottle to take a long swallow of it. It was refreshing enough even without being cold, and he took a moment to splash himself with water, slicking his wet hair back out of his face and tucking the bottle away for later use. While a few workers were taking breaks here and there, there were others that were getting started mapping out the placement of the roof, and he moved over to assist as best he could.

The roof mapping goes well, and some laborers start lifting and fitting the beams into place. The grinning foreman voluntells you to help them. Since you're so ungodly strong, it should be no problem, right?
Because they were largely dealing with a lot of wood it was easy for him to lift the beams, the only real danger being that they were so hefty he had to look to make sure there was no one on the other end for him to accidentally smack in the head. Soren followed the foreman's commands without fuss, since he was actually waiting for some honest-to-goodness heavy lifting rather than the fitting and measuring they were doing (though he wouldn't argue that there weren't just as important as everything else) but sometimes a guy just wanted to get his morning workout in.
He moved some of the beams over, making it easier for the workers to access, and gets to work with hammer and nails to get everything fitted and secured properly. There were a few Machoke beside him who were helping to keep everything propped up as the humans nailed things in place, and he shifted to make sure he didn't get in the way of anything - and also to make sure he wasn't jostling his subtly shifting egg - as he continously nailed things along one of the wall beams connected to the roof.

You're being asked to help bring in some heavier equipment that's just a little ways away. They'd driven it here in cars, but the cars can't afford to get too close.
Soren felt a tap on his shoulder and looked over to see a much shorter man imploring him to move via pointing at a vehicle piled with some heavier cosntruction equipment parked.. actually a lot farther than he'd thought. But he'd agreed already, so he took a moment to jog himself over to where the cars and trucks were loaded up with heavy equipment and hauled himself up to assist with moving it from truck to waiting Machoke. The pokemon was probably stronger than him, and took the object easily, balanced even more so by the second Machoke that came up to join them not moments later.
Realizing that his bag had stopped shaking, Soren looked down at it - only to see the remains of a bunch of eggs, and nothing else. He pawed through the satchel, looking - pokemon weren't that small, were they? - but he found no other traces of whatever pokemon it could have been. Were there just dummy eggs? Maybe that was why it had been given away for free.
There was a particularly hefty piece of equipment that required his full attention just then, and he moved to help assist, the car shaking as he shifted over it, not noticing one of the workers carrying away an electric fan that had big, grinning face on it...

You carry the equipment to where it's supposed to be, with minimal strain on your muscles.
The cars aren't finished unloading yet, but you see some of the workers taking a break. They've set up a tent with a water cooler and some electric fans underneath. You can keep working or go mingle with them.
Soren set down what he was carrying in the dirt with a heavy sigh, feeling only a slight straining on his biceps, but nothing too painful. He looked back at the truck, which seemed to be handled well enough, and with the foreman nowhere in sight noted a few others had moved to take a brief water break underneath a tent. He hadn't quite broken a sweat yet, but he was feeling slightly heated, and knowing that he usually got pretty irritable when he was hot he decided it best to move and go linger in front of one of the fans. Maybe someday he'd cut his hair, but probably not.
Behind him were the sounds of metal scraping over metal as the truck bed was unloaded, and the closer he got to the fans the fainter it got. A few of the construction workers gave him silent nods in the universal greeting for hello, and as one poured himself out a cup of water and moved over to sit in front of one of the fans, Soren moved to take his place, noticing how that weird, grinning fan wasn't quite working and seemed to look... directly at him? That was a little unnerving. He was distracted for a moment, staring at it, that he didn't realize that one of the workers was complaining about how the air it blew wasn't cold enough and started smacking it on the side. The fan...blinked? Was that a pokemon?

The man smacking the electric fan suddenly jerks back as a large surge of electricity bursts out of the fan. He stumbles backward, knocking the water cooler over - onto a seated woman - and spilling water everywhere. In an instant the tent is full of workers jumping up, yelling, and pointing fingers at each other.
Soren was quick, but he wasn't quite quick enough to avoid the surge of water that splashed everywhere, getting onto clothes and feet and dirt alike. The woman made a soft, wailing sort of noise that was done more for show than anything as she was drenched, and Soren had the sense of mind to stoop and scoop up the empty cooler jug as it rattled on the ground with a hollow, echoing noise. While the workers scrambled to move the electrical equipment out of the way, Soren found his attention directed to the fan with the weird face again - and saw that it had actually changed shape back to a normal looking fan without eyes and mouth.
Looking around, Soren tried vainly to see if anyone else had noticed the change or if maybe he was hallucinating or losing his mind or something, but no one really seemed to notice and his sanity was starting to feel tested. But he shook it off - for now - and moved to try and get some cloth or something to wipe down the woman before helping move the more delicated equipment out of the way of the water. In the distance he could see that the cars that had been carrying machinery in were departing, now devoid of equipment, and they were starting to being work on the house yet again.

At first he doesn't quite register the slap - truthfully, he'd been in a bit of bang-ups that went a lot harder than that, by men that were twice her size - and it took a moment for him to realize that she was apologizing and people were laughing at him. Thinking at first that she'd just been trying to get his attention, the slap was easily shrugged off and he ended up handing her the towel he'd managed to scrounge up, which was clean enough on side that it could be used for drying. The laughter was treated much the same way, with Soren chuckling along with the others at his misfortune, but not entirely offended or irritated by it.
As the woman went to work cleaning herself off Soren moved to the side to help with getting with two other men shifting a few industrial-sized fans out of the way - but not before stopping to check for a face on the object. When he was satisfied there wasn't any, he managed to get his grip just on one of the handles and the sides of the fans so he could start wheeling them out of the way.

With your great strength, you push the industrial fan along the well-worked ground, until... right in your path, up pops a Diglett's head out of the ground! It looks terrified. Quick, think fast!
Though the fan was a hefty enough size, the wheels made it a more manageable unit as he wheeled it along, despite how rocky and bumpy the cleared ground might still be. He was able to follow the others along easily enough, even managing to pick up a bit of speed along the way - although that came to a grinding halt the second he saw a familiar brown head emerge from the packed earth with an audible pop!.
Diglett were pretty common in Kanto, and he knew it wasn't too odd to see them at places like construction sites - since, if he recalled correctly, people would use them to dig deep furrows and trenches underground for piping and the like - but it was right in front of his still moving fan and so he had to move quick to avoid running it over and potentially damaging the pokemon. Or worse, provoking it into attacking which, depending on what sort of ground-type moves it knew, could provide potentially hazardous to the entire area.
Soren used his strength to grip the sides of the still moving fan, trying at first to pull it to a stop (which worked, a little) and then pulling it to veer off in another direction to avoid the petrified looking creature. Why didn't he just move? Who knew.
