Elliot laughed warmly at the breeder's confusion. "Hey, don't worry about it," he said, a gentle smile on his face. "My friend here's just helping get my Ralts socialized a bit. She loves meeting new people, and she can be a bit clingy to them sometimes. But that's just part of why we love ya, right Echo?" Echo simply giggled excitedly in response. As Elliot let go of her to check on Murex, she gave a cheerful wave to the breeder. She didn't even debut to the clingy comment. In fact, she was lapping it up the attention it brought!
It wouldn't be long before Andrew's attention needed to shift, too. He headed over to the startled Shellder, giving her a gentle pat on the head and murmuring some words of encouragement. It was really nothing different from what Elliot had done before, or even what he had seen Andrew do in the past! Yet he couldn't help but feel a strange, almost supernaturally soothing feeling settle over him as he listened to the other teen. What was going on here? Was Andrew just that good of a talker when he put his mind to it? No, that wasn't likely it. Yet the calm seemed to almost spread up from Elliot's stomach, like a deep massage or a hearty bowl of soup. Clearly, something was going on here, and Elliot was quite curious about what that meant.
Yet Murex was clearly listening. She shot a look up in Andrew's general direction, giving him a shaky nod. Elliot joined Andrew in stooping by the Pokemon, his own voice soft and gentle. "Don't forget. You trained with Lord Beerus, remember? He and Echo showed you how to use all kinds of moves," he pointed out. "Heck, you went from never having battled in your life, to showing me some tricks I didn't even know existed. I know fighting's not something that you're super used to yet. But, it's not like you're going to be heading into all this alone, you know? Andrew's here. And so am I. And so's everyone on your team.
Do you think you can do this? If you really don't feel like it, I can have Reverb or The Dudes step up for you."
The Binacle let out an offended bark at Elliot's assurances, but Murex paid her no mind. Instead, she looked up at Elliot, shooting him a self-assured nod. Elliot smiled slightly, giving her another soft pat on the shell, and then stepped aside. Now nothing stood between Murex and her destiny.
Joule scampered onto Vivi's head to get a better view of the battlefield, chittering excitedly at the Eevee to help explain what was going on to her. Reverb headed over to Echo to do the same, protectively keeping a half-step in front of her in case any attacks went stray. As they stood, The Dudes popped up beneath them, using his own taller bodies to give them each a better sight of the battlefield. This just left Murex by her lonesome, her and the Binacle hopping menacingly towards one another. The chatter and conversation came to an uneasy halt, and a hollow wind blew across the route.
That was when the Binacle leaped forward, her heads flailing in a hail of furious swipes. Murex immediately lost her nerve, flinching away. Yet despite the Binacle's best efforts, it couldn't seem to land a hit on her. As Murex peered her eyes open, she noticed that her shell was shimmering in every color of the rainbow. It also wasn't even being scratched by the Binacle's blade-edged heads, much to its disbelief. "Come on! Fire back while it's up close!" Elliot called, Murex nodding and turning around. Water gathered within her shell, allowing her to launch herself right at the Binacle's faces in a hydro-powered tackle. It tumbled through the air, letting out a surprised gasp.
"Keep it going, keep it going!" Elliot said. "Momentum's everything! Don't let it recover!" Murex nodded, building up another gout of water in her mouth, but this time she didn't fire it right away. Instead, her eyes flashed blue as the water inside of her flash-froze. The steady acceleration of her Liquidation had given way to a far faster burst of speed, launching Murex right in the air after the Binacle before it could even right itself. The frigid temperature of her icy pulse left her shell coated in icy razors, which she slashed the Binacle with as she flew past.
The one-two punch left the Binacle dazed and confused, but that just left her shaking her head to force herself back in the game. Murex was clearly as stunned as her foe was, because she skidded to a halt without even looking back. She hopped in place, trying to right herself, but by the time she got herself turned around the Binacle was back in action. She dug into the ground and flung mud right at Murex's eyes, causing her to recoil back in shock. She smacked her tongue around her face, trying to rub the mud out, but that just gave the Binacle time to charge forward and slash her across the shell. It was a direct, powerful hit, and more than enough to send Murex spinning into the stream.
She sank down beneath the depths, and the waters were still.
The Binacle dusted itself off, shaking her heads. Yet Elliot's expression didn't wave. "I'm sorry, but you might want to get your Pokemon out of the water," he said, a hint of apologetic tone underlining his otherwise voice. "Because Murex, I think it's time for a whirlpool!"
The water bubbled. It quivered. It rippled. And then it practically burst, Murex leaping out from below it. The water that splashed out of the narrow stream swirled beneath her, stretching up into a vortex. If Murex's poor agility was a problem before, it would be very alleviated now that she was riding along the whirlpool's surface. Case in point, as the Binacle leaped at Murex for another slash, the Shellder was able to drift right away from her attack, leaving the Binacle landing right back on her bridge. "Now, fire away!" Elliot said, Murex closing her shell. Frost pulsed from it not once, not twice, but five times, Murex opening her shell and letting spears of ice rain down on the Binacle. Its own low agility, and Murex's whirlpool allowing her to attack from every angle, meant all five hits landed with ease. Each pushed the Binacle closer to the edge of the bridge, and the last knocked her clean into the water.
She laid there, still. For a second Elliot thought the battle was over, and he raised his Dusk Ball to try and recall Murex. Yet before he could, the Binacle's eyes snapped open. While it continued to lay still, gold cracks spread across the surface of its shell. They cast such a bright light that Elliot needed to flinch away from the Binacle.
The breeder couldn't help a warm and understnading smile as Elliot explained the situation with Echo - briefly crouching down to her level (which wasn't hard, given the fact that she was partially lifted up by Elliot and Andrew) to look her over. "Well, she certainly seems like a friendly fella; so I'd argue that you're doing a wonderful job socializing her..!" He'd remark; briefly tilting his head, as he calmly looked Echo over. "And how're you doing, you little cutie pie, hmm~?" He would ask - briefly waving back to Echo - though remained where he was, not about to interact with Echo unless she approached him first. It was only polite, after all..!
Meanwhile, Andrew would offer Murex a gentle and reassuring smile as the Shellder peered up to him. Sure, the young man was still a bit (okay, maybe more a lot) nervous, in the presence of other people - but he wanted to try and be a reassuring presence for Murex, with how timid the Shellder was. Elliot, too, seemed to have the same idea about it - gently talking to Murex, and offering his own reassurances. Though Andrew had nothing else to say - figuring that Elliot had a better handle on what Murex needed to hear right now - Inari would still gently nuzzle Murex, in a gesture of comfort.
Even though the offer was made to have one of Elliot's other pokemon sub in for Murex, it seemed that the Shellder had found her resolve; nodding to her trainer. Just as Elliot stepped aside, Andrew would smile - flashing Murex a thumbs up - and move aside as well, so that nothing was gonna get in her way. Inari, too, would scamper over to Andrew's side - understandably not keen about getting caught in a scuffle between two stronger water types - though would whoop an almost-howl at Murex in a cheer, her tails wagging eagerly. "Aoowuuuuuuuu..!"
Everyone was gathering about, one by one, to spectate the fight - even the breeder couldn't help but grin lopsidedly - albeit a hair nervously as well - in anticipation. "Dang..." He'd remark, briefly taking off his cap so that he could run his fingers through his hair. "If I didn't know any better, I'd guess those two are rivals or something..." He'd comment, noting the intense looks either side were giving each other. "You think they've got some sort of history, or something?" He'd ask - glancing towards Elliot. Even his two pokemon - an Oshawott and a Piplup - would poke their heads out of the stream that they were playing in; watching the Binacle and Murex both.
As the two combatants began to near eachother, though... A tense quiet would fall over everyone - Inari, Andrew, and the breeder and his pokemon all included. Andrew would crouch down, a hand idly running through Inari's fur. The Breeder put his cap back on, and shoved his hands in his pockets. The Oshawott and Piplup were both hushed - the little penguin pokemon huddled close to her comparatively larger and stronger brother.
Things were silent; all eyes were on the Binacle and Shellder both...
... And then, suddenly, the Binacle lashed forward, attacking..!
It was a flurry of blows on either side - starting first with the Binacle's Fury Swipes, which were thusly thwarted by Murex's fearful Protect. However, even if the Shellder nearly lost her nerve and had gone on the defensive, Elliot was there to urge her forward - prompting Murex to retaliate against the Binacle with a hard-hitting Liquidation..! Once the Binacle was off-balance from the watery tackle, Murex was ready to push the offensive and follow up with another move - Andrew couldn't quite tell what it was, but he had a feeling it was an Ice Shard, if the pokedex had anything to imply - to take advantage of the Binacle's broken guard...!
The Binacle was staggering from the hit combo that Murex dealt out as both attacks landed, one after another; though the Shellder was also put off-balance by her own attacks, it seemed. This allowed the Binacle to go back on the offensive - slinging a glob of mud into poor Murex's eyes, and blinding her for just long enough for the Binacle to land a nasty blow, and knock her into the stream beyond..! As the Shellder splashed into the waters, the two starter pokemon would let out startled squeaks; drifting away from Murex, and the Oshawott holding his little sister protectively close.
Andrew and Inari both appeared concerned and unsure - leaning in slightly in anticipation, and wondering as to whether or not Murex was okay. However... Elliot was still plenty confident, it seemed..!
The other young trainer would speak up - giving the Breeder a warning to call his pokemon out of the water. Though the man in question took a second to process the warning, he didn't ask questions - turning towards the Oshawott and Piplup, and whistling to them. "C'mon, over here darlings, outta the water..!"
The duo - seemingly well trained, or otherwise a bit rattled by the fighting - didn't hesitate, the Oshawott helping the Piplup out of the water before following close behind her. They'd both move to either side of their trainer, clinging to his legs - though the breeder would simply chuckle, and pat their heads reassuringly as he watched the water begin to churn.
It churned, it bubbled, and it swirled - the motions slowly intensifying until it would suddenly burst, with Murex surfacing once more..! However, that was not all; because the water, swirling still, would follow right after her in a great vortex...! The swirling waters gave Murex a way to move about as the Binacle - comparatively lacking in movement - attempted to strike at her, and on top of that... It proved to be the perfect vantage point, for Murex to rain down a mass of Icicle Spears upon the barnacle pokemon below...!
Excited, Inari couldn't help but give another whoop-like howl in a cheer, as the Binacle was knocked off the bridge and into the waters - surely, Murex had won, right? However... The duo would quickly be proven wrong, as they noted a golden glow, shining in from beneath the gentle surface of the stream.
The fight wasn't over yet.
The only question now though, was just what was about to happen.

As the cracks continued to spread across Binacle's body, they finally hit a fever pitch. Golden light practically exploded around the twin-headed Pokemon, all while a shattering sound rang through the air. So powerful was this rush of power that water actually burst out from the stream, splattering so far that Elliot's team had to scamper away to avoid getting splashed. When the light faded, the Binacle was standing tall. She looked slimmer from the outset. The brown rocky helmets that she wore on both heads were now drifting in the water behind her, revealing her bright orange faces. The shell she grew out of had shrank by at least a few sizes, now taking up a much smaller portion of her body mass. All of the leftover chitin drifted behind her, following the rocky helmets downstream. Had the Binacle just shattered its own defenses? Why?
Once the Binacle started swimming, Elliot realized the reason quickly. She kicked up huge sprays of water as she paddled her heads through the water, the wide-eyed boy turning to Murex in shock. "She's coming in fast! Hurry, protect yourself!" Murex nodded, clamping her shell shut as it took on its rainbow-colored shimmer again. It was deja vu as the Binacle breached from the water, its heads once again raining down on Murex in a flurry of blows. Elliot knew from experience that Murex's Protect was more than enough to stop this technique, so he took the chance to disengage and focus on his technique. Once the Binacle stopped attacking, another Liquidation could force it back. And maybe then Murex could kick up more whirlpools to establish some separation, before-
First problem. The Binacle didn't stop attacking. After the first set of fury swipes, another set rained down, Murex starting to tremble as she tried weathering all of the blows. The rainbow hue around her shell started to waver, but she tried her best to hold on for dear life. If she stopped guarding to attack, the far-faster Binacle would easily be able to get the first swing in. Yet how much longer could she keep guarding for?
The Binacle answered that question for her. The sound of cracking light echoed through the air as a third series of Fury Swipes impacted her shield. By the time the combination had landed, Murex's protect had shattered, leaving her wide open for attack. The Binacle smirked, then launched her clean out of the water with a flourishing head-smash. Not only was the Binacle faster, but it had become far stronger, too. Did this thing even have a weakness?
Murex whimpered as she bounced out of the water, sliding up to Elliot's feet. Elliot immediately ran to check on her, the Shellder weakly prying her shell open. "Come on, hang in there, Murex. You're doing fantastic," he assured her, casting nervous glances at the stream's edge. The Binacle had just hopped out from the water, and she was flexing her claws to measure how quickly she could move on land. There wasn't much time for assurances or strategies. "I need you to trust me on this one. Wait until she's right about to attack you, and hit her with a Supersonic. She's fast, strong, and dangerous; being confused makes that go from her strongest weapon to her biggest problem. Sound good?" Murex nodded, Elliot smiling and giving her an affectionate pat on the shell. "I believe in you, Murex! We can do this!"
Murex turned around, just in time to see the Binacle come bearing down on her. She hopped with a renowned furor, slow by land Pokemon standards but terrifying for a shellfish out of water. She drew her heads back for another slash, but before she could make it into combat Murex clacked her shell like a castanet. The sound caused the Binacle to flinch away, but that wasn't the only effect it'd have. As she cracked open an eye, it rolled around like a loose tire. Her vision was swimming, and a glance to the side confirmed that her other head's was as well. They tried to shake it off and coordinate, but a clapping strike towards Murex proved a disastrous miss; instead of hitting paydirt, the two dazed heads smacked right into each other!
"Another Liquidation, Murex! Before it shakes it off!" Elliot called, Murex nodding and launching herself square at the Binacle. She may have been confused, but she was still far quicker than the Shellder. She caught Murex between her two heads, the two sliding back towards the water from the force of the impact. As they teetered at the edge, the Binacle set her down and unleashed another flurry of blows. This time Murex was ready for it. Her shields were back up, the shimmering rainbow shell repelling each swipe, and the Binacle was far too dazed to make a second strike. In fact, as she tired, she ended up losing her balance and smacking herself right across the face. The Binacle topped over, and now her cracked dwelling was completely open. "One last hit and it's over. Bring it on home, Murex!" Elliot cheer, the Shellder turning around for one last Liquidation.
This one was a direct hit. The Binacle bounced back onto her bridge, narrowing her eyes and puffing out her cheeks as she tried to force herself to stand. The Shell Smash had given her a second wind, but it also meant she was far worse at taking hits. The blows from both her own attacks and Murex's were starting to add up fast, and one of her heads was already drifting into unconsciousness.
Reaching for his belt, Elliot unhooked a Nest Ball. Normally, he preferred befriending Pokemon over going for the direct capture. However, the Binacle had certainly impressed him today, and the way it and Murex pushed each other to new heights was certainly eye-catching. Maybe if the two shared some time on the same team, they could try things again on a better foot. And if he was wrong? Well, then he'd let it return to the wild in peace. Elliot clutched the ball close to his chest, as if for good luck, and then hurled it right at the self-appointed bridgekeeper.
As the golden light burst from the Binacle and water sprayed from the stream, Andrew and Inari both couldn't help stumbling back with a surprised yelp from either duo. Andrew wasn't quite fast enough - a light spray of water splattering atop his head and across his front, making him flinch a bit reflexively as he covered his face with his arms. Inari, though, was just fast enough to get out of the way - darting away from the droplets that rained down behind her.
The breeder didn't seem to even bother flinching or moving away from being splashed - simply standing there and allowing himself to get wet, almost as though he was used to being splashed by his two water types. The Oshawott and Piplup duo would squeak a bit in surprise, before beginning to giggle amongst themselves; seemingly happy about the brief downpour, if the brief dance they did was anything to imply...!
However, even with the two starters' glee over the rain... It seemed that things were getting quite serious. The Binacle was visibly slimmer - having lost some weight in the form of the chitin that once protected her - and though they were briefly unsure of just what, exactly, the Binacle's plan was...
... The barnacle pokemon wasn't afraid to make herself known, as she rapidly darted in to strike at Murex..!
Though Murex was able to once more block the flurry of blows out with Protect, it was quickly becoming apparent that the Binacle had the upper hand now; her surperior speed allowing her to keep up the set of attacks, as Murex's Protect began to waver, and then eventually shatter completely...! Andrew and Inari both gasped in dismay; Murex had been doing so good, and now the Binacle was turning things around in her favor...!
Even as Murex took a nasty hit from the Bincale, though - being sent sliding to Elliot - the young trainer was quick to check on her. Andrew, too, would come up to Murex to check up on her - briefly wondering whether he could heal Murex's wounds at all. It seemed that there wasn't a dire need for healing at the moment, though; for Elliot had a plan, involving Murex's Supersonic move..!
And just in time - for as Murex came into battle, the Binacle was already bearing down on her - darting in from the shoreline..! The Shellder, however, was readied; waiting for the Binacle to get close enough, before she'd clacked her shell together...! The resulting noise would make the Binacle flinch, and her vision swim; clearly having been completely confused by Murex's Supersonic..!
Even Inari would be unable to help looking a hair dazed from the sound; her sensitive ears picking it up on it easily. She'd make a disgruntled husky-like sound, rubbing her face with her paws, before deciding to sit down; not necessarily Confused, but certainly a little dazed by the sound. Andrew, sympathetic, would crouch down to pat her on the head as the both of them continued to watch the fight at hand.
With the Binacle now being confused, Murex had the upper hand - the barnacle at first accidentally striking herself, and leaving her open to another Liquidation from the Shellder..! Despite being confused, the Binacle was able to catch Murex, however - though the bivalve was able to use Protect before Binacle's Fury Swipes could do any damage...!
Initially, Andrew was concerned as to whether this was going to be a repeat of last time - of the Binacle being able to wear Murex's Protects down before landing a nasty strike. However, this didn't appear to be the case - for after the first flurry, Murex would find her opening, in the form of the Binacle losing her balance and hitting herself once more..! This was the decisive moment - and Elliot was quick to cheer Murex on, as the Shellder took the opportunity to land a direct hit with one last Liquidation..!
The Binacle was sent reeling and bouncing back to the bridge she had perched on before; struggling to remain standing, struggling to remain conscious. Andrew and Inari both would whoop their own cheers at Murex for this; the duo smiling brightly. She had it in the bag..!
The Breeder, watching still, would smile gently; glancing down to his two pokemon. "You two'll be able to do stuff like this, too, once you both get big and strong, and once you learn a few more moves." He'd murmur gently - patting them both on the heads. The Oshawott was eyeing the combatants curiously - as though trying to learn from this fight. The Piplup, though, was just busy cheering - waving a flipper and squeaking excitedly...! What side was she cheering for? Who knows..!
Either way, with the Binacle on the ropes, it seemed that Elliot had made the decision to catch this fighty barnacle; taking out a Nest Ball, and throwing it at her...!

The Binacle was sucked into the Net Ball, Elliot clutching his walking stick closely as he watched it land on the bridge. One wiggle . . . two wiggles . . .
The ball snapped open, the Binacle appearing in a flash of light. He peered down at the Net Ball, lifted it up, and then crushed it cleanly between her claws. She then flung the shattered ball down onto the bridge, shaking a fist-face in Elliot's direction. She may have been fading fast, but this battle wasn't over yet!
She shook her head, giving her two faces gentle slaps against her rocky body to shake off the confusion, before leaping towards Murex in a graceful bound. By now, Elliot knew the basics of their attack patterns enough to predict how this would go. Murex would defend herself, and the Binacle would assault her defenses so ferociously that even Protect would splinter. Then the pattern would start anew, unless Murex was able to get in there and break the cycle. Fortunately, Elliot knew Murex had one more trick up her sleeves. "Wait for it, Murex," he said, the Shellder sweating nervously as the Binacle reached the apex of her jump. She drew her two heads back, letting out a war cry as she planned to bring them down on Murex's head.
"Wait for it!" Murex let out a quizzical cry, especially as the Binacle descended closer towards her. Yet it wasn't until the Binacle was just about to make contact that Elliot revealed his plan. "Make a whirlpool, hurry!" he called, Murex nodding. She spun in place, releasing torrents of water from her shell with each rotation. The waters surged up into another vortex, this one trapping the Binacle inside before it could make contact. It flailed at her repeatedly, a series of smashing strikes, but none of them could actually reach the Shellder. Her adversary was too busy being bounced atop the spinning whirlpool, and unless she could force her way out of it Murex would be safe.
It was Elliot's job as a trainer to make sure that wouldn't happen. He fished out another Nest Ball from his bag, flinging it right at the Binacle as it spun around and around in circles. Would it work this time? And if it didn't, would the Binacle at least feel antagonized enough to flee? Elliot wasn't sure that Murex would be able to make it out of a full Round 2 in one piece!
Sadly, though the Nest Ball would have been the perfect ball for catching a Binacle, it seemed as though the first ball wasn't going to take. It shook once, twice, and then broke; the Binacle crushing the Nest Ball in her claws without any hesitation. Andrew couldn't help a brief wince - that was quite the angry Binacle, wasn't she...
With the ball destroyed though, barnacle and clam alike would once more do battle - the Binacle leaping forward, no doubt intending to land another vicious pattern of blows upon poor Murex, now that she was no longer confused..!
However, Elliot seemed to have a plan.
Though Andrew was initially unsure of what Elliot intended - calling for Murex to wait and hold back in preparation for... Something, not that either he nor the nervous Shellder knew - he had a feeling that the other trainer knew quite well of what he was doing. And this fact would only be confirmed, when - at the last second - Elliot called for a whirlpool...! The swirling waters would surge upwards from Murex, easily capturing the Binacle in the resulting vortex. Despite the barnacle's attempts to swing her fists at Murex, none would be able to reach the Shellder's shell - rendering Murex safe, for the time being.
It seemed that this gambit was a hit with the starters, though; the Breeder watching with visible amusement as the Piplup, squeaking victoriously, would proceed to start trying to spin in place, as her brother cheered Murex on...! "Now that's an impressive gambit, right there..." The Breeder commented, watching the Binacle spin and bob about in the whirlpool. "... Think you'll get it, this time?" He'd ask Elliot, upon noting the Nest Ball that the other trainer fished out, and scratching the back of his head briefly.
Whether or not this Nest Ball would catch the Binacle, Andrew and Inari would both watch with breathless anticipation; the young man's eyes lit up in a certain excitement, and Inari's own tails wagging.

"I'm not sure. But if throwing these out helps keep Murex safe, it's all I can do," Elliot said. Unfortunately for Elliot, it wasn't quite to be. The Nest Ball actually missed on the first pass, bouncing around within Murex's waterfall. The ball made many close misses and near-passes, at some points brushing so close past the Binacle that it seemed to make contact, yet the constant bouncing atop the water's currents meant that it wasn't a dead catch yet. And sure enough, one fateful bounce sent the Nest Ball spiraling right towards the Binacle. Would it make contact?
The good news was that the ball made contact. The bad news was that it was the Binacle's claws that it made contact with. The Binacle caught the ball before it could catch her, then crushed it with ease. Elliot's face fell as he saw the ball clatter down to the ground, but it was clear that the Binacle didn't come out of the exchange unharmed either. One of her two heads kept lapsing in and out of unconsciousness, and the one that crushed the Nest Ball was looking quite weary as well. She looked at the equally-weary Murex, then the far more energetic Elliot and his team, and ultimately decided to cut her losses. She flung mud down at the whirlpool, blocking Murex's visual on her, then sprung out of the whirlpool and dove into the river.
In an explosion of flailing limbs and sea spray, the Binacle was gone.
Murex let her whirlpool ease to a stop, eyes spiraling as she bobbed back to the surface of the stream. Elliot came running over to her as fast as he could, not caring about how wet he got as he fished her out from the stream. It was far higher priority to hug Murex close, softly stroking the Shellder's shell to ease her out of her dizziness and fear. "You've come so far, Murex," he said, voice gentle and soft. He didn't even mind as she returned the hug with her tongue. "See? You don't need to be scared anymore. You're safe now. I promise." Murex babbled happily into his chest, then slowly but surely relaxed in his arms. Elliot's smile too, relaxed, as he felt the tension flow out of her body.
Picking his walking stick back up from the edge of the stream, Elliot turned and walked back towards Andrew and the breeder. "I think this was the first time I've ever put so much focus into a real battle," he admitted, the smile on his face somewhat weary. "Sorry if things got a little bit intense over there."
The Breeder nodded understandingly at Elliot's response; remarking "It's a dang feisty Binacle, I'll have to say." He'd be unable to help a brief smile in the younger trainer's direction though, adding "Your Shellder's holding up wonderfully against her, though; and you're doing equally wonderfully directing her. Keep at it, kiddo."
The Piplup and Oshawott would both watch the whirlpool with definite interest, though; the little otter pokemon seemingly just curious about watching the move in action, whereas his sister, well... She'd nearly toddle forward a few paces, until the breeder picked her up..! "Nooope, you're not going into the whirlpool, darling." The breeder gently and jokingly scolded; wiggling a finger in a chastizing fashion at the Piplup. "Much too dangerous."
The Piplup would let out a dismayed squeak of protest, and the Breeder couldn't keep from chuckling; even though she was trying her hardest to sound angry, she sounded like a giant squeak toy. "No, sweetie; you can ask the nice clam if she can do a safer whirlpool for you later." He'd try to placate the little penguin pokemon - which seemed to work, if the fact that the Piplup would give the Breeder an intense stare, before relenting and relaxing, implied anything.
Even if she continued to look a hair grumpy at being impeded from her dream of spinning in the whirlpool though, the Breeder would gently pat her on the head, chuckling sheepishly. Sometimes, young pokemon were quite the handful.
As the Nest Ball sailed into the whirlpool, Andrew would briefly have to unfocus his gaze on the ball, and just look at the vortex as a whole; his attempts to keep track on the ball as it swirled about the whirlpool simply making him dizzy. He'd briefly rub his eyes, fingers crossed for the Nest Ball to properly catch the Binacle, but... Sadly, it wasn't meant to be.
The Binacle would be able to catch the Nest Ball before it caught her - utterly crushing it, much like the last one. The Breeder couldn't help a sympathetic wince at this, clearly feeling empathy over Elliot's bad luck with the barnacle pokemon. "Oof. Fella really hates pokeballs, doesn't she?" He'd comment; briefly shaking his head in dismay. "Well, not every ball's a winner. Maybe next time."
Andrew and Inari, too, would make faintly disappointed sounds; finding it to be a shame, that Elliot wouldn't be able to catch the Binacle - especially when she decided to take the chance to spring her way out of the whirlpool, and disappear into the water. Before anyone knew it, the wild pokemon had escaped; the battle ending completely. Now that the threat had passed, things would begin to relax; the whirlpool gradually coming to a stop, as a dizzy Murex was left in the water.
As Elliot retrieved Murex from the stream, Andrew and the Breeder both would meet him in the middle - Andrew looking Murex over, as Elliot stepped up and out of the water. Inari, too, would run up to the assembling group; letting out a bark of excitement and praise in Murex's direction, as she sat down at Andrew's side...!
As Elliot commented on the fight though, and tried to apologize to the two, the Breeder would be unable to help a chuckle; shaking his head and waving his hand in a casual and dismissive fashion. "No skin off my back." He'd responded, grinning somewhat lopsidedly. "You did great, kiddo; and sometimes a wild pokemon gets feisty or intense, it happens. All that matters is that no one got seriously hurt, in the end; you handled it like a champ..!"
Andrew, meanwhile, would seemingly be tuning the conversation out - albeit unintentionally - as he instead looked over Murex's shell. Though Murex's actual body inside the shell didn't appear to be hurt - beyond general weariness - the fight had certainly done some wear and tear on the Shellder's shell; gouges left by the Binacle's claws. He'd slowly run a finger along the edge of one of the scratch marks, faint sympathy present, as he briefly he couldn't help but wonder...
... What if he healed it, the same way he often mended up the rare little scrapes and bumps that he and Inari sometimes got, in their day to day life?
He wasn't sure if these were genuine injuries in the same way that accidental nicks with the scissors or cooking knifes were; they seemed more like the equivalent to a nail chipping, and they seemed as though they'd heal on their own with time anyways - it only made sense. But... He still wanted to give it a shot - it'd be the right thing to do, for a pokemon who had fought so valiantly. Thus, reaching forward, he'd begin gently running a hand over the scratches on Murex's shell...
... as the hand, in question, shimmered faintly.
Inari seemed to catch on to what Andrew was doing immediately; watching curiously as he attempted to mend the gouges and scratches. But given that Andrew had never actually healed combat wounds like this, he wasn't able to tell as to whether he'd be able to actually mend anything; or whether he'd just be helping kick start the mending process a little.
The Breeder, taking note, would raise his eyebrows in an impressed fashion - watching Andrew at his work. He'd whistle faintly to himself, slowly nodding. "Now ain't that interesting..." He'd murmur; though he didn't seem as though he'd elaborate any further, not unless Elliot prompted him first. The Piplup was able to get a close look at Andrew's handiwork (hah) as he tried to see just what he could mend. hough the Oshawott - at the Breeder's feet - couldn't see anything at first, the Breeder would still pick him up after an insistent tug on his pantleg.
Before very long though, as quickly as the shimmering started... It'd stop; Andrew having done as much as he could in the moment. The young man felt a slight weariness wash over him - having expended a bit of his own aura to do this - but it was nothing serious. He could easily ignore it as he smiled to Murex, and softly asked the Shellder "How'd that, w-well... How'd i-it feel, Murex..? Do you f-feel any, uhm, better..?"
He'd pull his hand away from the surface of Murex's shell - briefly gazing over the scratches, and checking to see whether his attempts made any headway on helping Murex patch up her shell.

Murex flinched away at first, not very used to getting so much attention from so many people at once. Yet as Andrew set a hand on her, she stopped her wiggling and shivering. Instead she once again calmed herself, leaning into Andrew's hand as it rested on her shell. The nicks and scratches on her shell started buffering out, the freshly healed areas taking on a light lavender compared to her usual deep purple shell. Within seconds, not only did a lot of her fatigue ebb away, but so, too had the wounds on her person! She wiggled happily in Elliot's arms, giving Andrew's hand a gentle lick in return.
Elliot was so stunned that he almost dropped Murex, though Echo managed to hold her up with a psychic pulse and give Elliot a chance to tighten his grip. "I . . . you . . . how?" he said, a quiet gasp underlining his voice. His eyes almost seemed to blank out, only to widen in pure shock and awe as he looked right at Andrew. "That's incredible," he said, voice barely above a whisper. He didn't say anything else. Was he trying to respect Andrew by not inundating the poor boy in questions? Or was he just too amazed to even think about what to ask?
As if to help, Echo teleported up onto Elliot's shoulder, booping Murex with a faintly glowing hand. It didn't really do much for Murex, considering that she had already been all healed up by Andrew, but the gesture was appreciated. After using her Heal Pulse she turned to Andrew, tilting her head curiously. Was that what he had done, too? No, no, it looked different. She shook her head, and with it shook the idea off.
Elliot smiled gratefully at the breeder, still holding Murex close just in case. "You're right," he said. "Murex's safe and sound, and that's what matters most to me. Though that Binacle really seemed to be holding a grudge. I haven't seen a Pokemon fight so ferociously before, even in high-level televised matches. I kinda wish I was able to catch it, if only so I'd know more about who it is and where it came from. He trailed off slightly, looking down the stream. Slowly but surely, his look of mild concern bent back into a smile. "Maybe I'll see it again, and it will have calmed down enough for me to figure things out.
Oh! I don't think I got you or your team's names yet. Sorry, we were kinda interrupted and all. But either way, it's a pleasure to meet you!
As Murex wiggled happily and licked Andrew's hand, the young man couldn't help a soft and gentle laugh; patting the grateful Shellder on the shell, before taking a couple steps back to give her some personal space. He hadn't expected the healing to work so well, given the typical things that he used it for when he stayed at home; but he was happy to see that Murex was already feeling a little bit better, after the attention he had given.
Standing from here, he could note the soft lavender that the healed gouges took on - and he couldn't help but briefly wonder whether this was a Shellder's equivalent to scarring, or whether the lavender would eventually darken to match the rest of Murex's shell with time.
Elliot, though, appeared quite shocked at Andrew's little trick; near-speechless in his awe, and only managing a few handful of words in hushed tones. Andrew would glance in the other trainer's direction; blinking, as though he was suddenly reminded that there were other people here. For a few moments, the young man tried to find his words; opening and closing his mouth a few times, but... "U-uhm..."
... Even he didn't exactly know how to describe what he just did.
He knew that this was something that might've been passed down from his father - but this was an ability that just sort of... Came to him, over time. Otherwise, he didn't know too much about how to name or describe this gift of his.
Nor did Echo, it seemed; as she tried to use Heal Pulse, to compare it to the trick that Andrew just did, albeit to no conclusive result.
After a short and awkward quiet, only then would the Breeder speak up; briefly clearing his throat. "I... Might have an idea, maybe?" He mentioned, sounding only half-sure as the thought over his words. "I'm an assistant to another breeder, up in Bass City; we mostly focus on water types, since we're so close to the ocean, and... Guy's got a breeding pair - a Blastoise and a Clawitzer. And apparently both pokemon, and their kids, can use something called Aura...?"
The breeder would scratch the back of his head, as though trying to think hard. "I haven't really seen the parents or their kids in action, but I've heard of a few things here and there; and from what I understand of this aura stuff... It sounds a lot like what Snowpea there just did."
Andrew, blinking, would flush a bit at the nickname; though would also be unable to help staring down at his own hand, visibly curious. Aura, huhm... Inari, too, would be a bit curious; staring up to Andrew, and tilting her head. She didn't really understand too much about Aura, either; but it seemed like a good first step, for if the duo ever wanted to figure out more..!
In the meantime though, Elliot and the Breeder would be able to continue speaking to one another. As Elliot commented on the Binacle - both on her ferocity, and on the fact that he wished that he could've caught her - the Breeder would nod briefly, scratching the back of his head. "Yeahhh... Wild pokemon can definitely be, well, wild sometimes; especially when given proper reason." He'd remark in turn, replacing his cap and setting the two water starters down - upon which the duo returned to the stream, and their playing. "I don't know whether that Binacle is gonna be back anytime soon, or whether she'll have calmed down at all, but well..."
Grinning a bit humorously and lopsidedly, the man would bark a laugh "... At least I'll know what they're talking about now, if a pokemon comes up to me asking about tater tots...!"
As Elliot mentioned having never gotten their names though, the Breeder blinked a bit, before smiling good-naturedly. "Name's Mack; great to meet you two, too..!" He'd introduce himself, adding with a bit of humor "I'd shake your hand, but it seems you've got your arms full." with a brief nod to Murex.
"In any case..." Glancing towards the Oshawott and Piplup both, Mack would gesture to the both of them, adding "The Piplup over there is Lapis; she's a bit of a mischievious one, be careful if she gets too curious about something. The Oshawott she's playing with is Apatite. He's a bit more milder; acts like a protective big brother towards Lapis."
Andrew and Inari both would glance to Lapis and Apatite; unable to help endeared smiles. Though Inari, personally, wasn't too keen on getting in the middle of the two water types' games - let alone getting wet - she and Andrew both could see that the two starters were well taken care of, and quite a cheery duo.
After a couple of moments, Mack would be unable help yet another humored smile; this time commenting "You can probably tell that I like gemstones; I collect them as a hobby, when I'm not looking after these little tykes. Getting back on track, though..." Unhooking a Dive Ball from his belt, Mack would show it to the two other trainers; explaining "I got one more pokemon here, that I've actually been looking for another trainer to take off my hands; he doesn't get along very well with Lapis, despite my best efforts. Larimar here is a--"
Mack would be cut off suddenly, however, when the Dive Ball would open without warning...!
From the pokeball, came a very large and very round Spheal - likely the Larimar in question. Larimar had his nose tilted up in a smug and confident fashion, looking up to Mack as though to ask 'You called~?', with an inquiring and squeak-like bark. Though Spheals were known for their plush fur, this one's fur was especially glossy - as though it was groomed regularly. On top of this, Larimar seemed to have a certain air of poise to him that was honestly a bit amusing, when you considered that it was coming from a Spheal of all pokemon.
Inari, curiously, would slowly and carefully approach the Clap Pokemon; sniffing the air, keen on getting to know this new pokemon's scent. It would be about then that Larimar realized that there were strangers here - other pokemon, and other trainers that he had never met before...! Almost immediately, Larimar would bounce in place; turning to face them, and to look at each of them clearly. Ah... It seemed that he had an audience!
This was perfect..!
"You see, Larimar here's a bright and passionate guy, even if he's a bit of a vain Spheal." Mack explained; watching as Larimar bounced a short distance away from everyone, so as to make room. "He's still very young, but I think he'd do well with another trainer - maybe a Coordinator - to help hone his passion and skills."
As though to demonstrate these aforementioned passion and skills, Larimar would first let out a loud seal-like bark to try and gather everyone's attention - peering to each and every one of his supposed audience to make sure they were watching. Andrew's attention was seemingly caught by the mention of Larimar potentially doing well with another trainer or coordinator - and he was quite curious, to see just what all this Spheal could do.
Once Larimar was sure that he was the center of attention though, he would act; a quick combo of his moves, that he was sure to dazzle his future fans..!
First, was Water Gun - the Spheal aiming it beneath himself, to launch himself up and into the air, above his audience...! As he ascended upwards, he would allow himself to briefly twist and roll in mid-air; posing the best that a stubby-flippered Spheal could, as the droplets from the Water Gun descended about him.
Next, was an Aqua Ring; a move that most Spheals didn't typically know, but one that Larimar was born with and took pride in. He would be veiled in rings of shimmering droplets of water, each ring gently spinning about him, and the droplets that formed the rings glimmering and reflecting the light of the sun above.
Then, as he neared the apex of his ascension, Larimar would allow himself to spin in mid-air; using Powder Snow, and breathing out a gust of frosty wind...! Almost instantly, the droplets from the Aqua Ring - as well as the droplets from the Water Gun - would freeze, scattering and glittering about him in a beautiful display that he was sure would awe everyone watching him...!
And finally, as Larimar began to descend, he would finish with a Defense Curl - making doubly sure that he wouldn't hurt himself, as he landed on the ground below. The Spheal would bounce once, twice, before briefly rolling forward as the glittering frozen droplets rained down, like snowflakes, upon the area. Andrew and Inari would both be in a quiet awe; visibly impressed at the diva Spheal's routine.
As Larimar finally came to a rest, he would right himself, before bowing the best that an orb seal could; gesturing with his flippers, and tilting forward. Yes, yes; he was ready to drown in the praise and applause that was sure to come of this dazzling display...!

"Aura? I . . . I think I've heard the name before. But that's all I know," Elliot said, turning the word over again and again in his head. He turned towards Andrew, tone still hushed and awed. "Do you know if there's anywhere w- you could learn about it? I mean, if you can heal Pokemon without even knowing how this all works, just imagine the kind of stuff you can do with a bit more knowledge about it. It'd be amazing!
Wait." Elliot replayed the last few minutes of conversation in his head, before breaking out into an ear-to-ear grin. "Andrew, that's the evolved form of Clauncher, right? I bet if you showed the Clauncher your technique, we could figure out if it was really aura or not! And if it is, maybe you can learn more by watching it! Wouldn't that be awesome? You two learning from each other, discovering your power, reaching new heights together? It's like something out of a movie." Elliot's eyes flickered warmly as he imagined the thought. Who knew Andrew was possibly the hero type? And even if he wasn't a big, bombastic superhero, well, nobody who went out of their way to heal and calm Pokemon could be anything less than a hero in Elliot's eyes.
Nevertheless, Elliot didn't stay entranced for too long. Elliot smiled softly, setting Murex down to give Mack a gentle yet hearty shake. "Reminds me of me and my own brother," Elliot said, a nostalgic smile spreading across his face. "I love their names, too!" He leaned a little to the side so he could face the Pokemon, giving them a cheerful wave. "Great to meet you guys!"
Yet it seemed they weren't the only Pokemon on display here. Personality clashes were always rough on trainers, and it seemed Mack was currently subject to a rather rough one. His more low-key team just didn't gel well with the excitable Spheal that has come bouncing out of his Pokeball, and it seemed he was looking for a new home for the Pokemon. It was hard for Elliot's ear not to catch the word "coordinator." Were contests bigger than he thought over here? Between his Pixie Nightmare Girl friends and the excitable Spheal before him, it seemed like everyone Elliot was meeting was getting bitten by the contest bug. Was this a sign of sorts? Elliot wasn't sure, but he sure knew that Larimar here wanted to show him something!
The Water Gun propulsion into the air got Murex perking up with interest. That same method helped her develop her Liquidation technique. However, rather than use it for pure speed and power, Larimar instead used it for a more graceful and controlled ascent. Similar, too, was the way he conjured a ring of water around himself, followed by a deep freeze from his Powdered Snow. It echoed how Murex developed her Ice Shard as well. However, instead of icy razors for battle purpose, it formed shimmering crystals around Larimar's body. Each crystal caught the sun's light from a different angle, creating a breathtaking shine around the Spheal. It was really amazing how the same mindsets and ideas could lead to both powerful battle strategies and beautiful contest displays.
Elliot and his entire team as the Spheal landed. "Bravo, bravo!" he cheered, all smiles. "Those are some really clever moves you have there. Have any other combos in mind? If so, we've love to see!"
Elliot's prase and raving would have Andrew blinking widely, clearly startled by the other young man's eagerness, and perhaps finding it a bit much if the way he'd take a step back implied anything. "U-uhm..." He'd nervously mumble; eyes casting aside, tightening the drawstrings on his hood a little, before responding in a soft and noncommittal "M-maybe..."
He was used to this ability of his just being a Thing That Happens, nothing big or bombastic like Elliot was making it out to be. His mother and Inari, though they both always found it fascinating, never made it out to be as big of a deal as Elliot was. Being the center of attention in this regard was, honestly, a bit overwhelming; and he was quietly thankful when Elliot would turn his attention back to Mack, allowing the shy trainer to get a breather.
Inari, visibly concerned, would briefly bunt against Andrew's leg - prompting him to crouch down, and quietly pet her; letting out a soft sigh. Even if Elliot's excitement over Aura was a hair overwhelming, the other trainer wasn't necessarily wrong. Clauncher did, indeed, evolve into Clawitzer; so... Glancing at the net ball in his hip, Andrew briefly pondered showing his new crustacean friend his Aura ability, once he was all healed up.
Soon though, the subject would shift to Larimar, and the excitable Spheal's performance. As soon as Larimar had landed, Andrew and Inari would begin to applaud alongside Elliot and his team; the duo smiling brightly at the eager Spheal's display.
Larimar, in response, seemed initially surprised - and perhaps even sheepish - at all of this attention and praise that he was receiving from his audience, as though he didn't expect people to love his combo quite this much. However, he would quickly regain his composure; swelling in pride, if the way he puffed his chest and bowed a second time was anything to imply...! Yes, indeed, his display was like none other! It was something that he honed over, well... Over the (relatively) short period of time from ever since he had hatched...! He is a prodigy for the stage, for certain...!
However, then came Elliot's question over whether Larimar had any other combos, and his request to see them. This seemed to throw the Spheal off his tempo - causing Larimar to freeze up completely, as he stared blankly at Elliot. Heck...
... He didn't have any other combos to show off..!
Mack would blink a bit, but scratched the back of his head; seeming to understand what was going on. "Ah... I think this is the only combo Larimar knows, right now." He'd explain; chuckling sheepishly, and crouching down to pat the frozen Spheal's head. "Ever since he figured out how his moves worked, he's been practicing this routine whenever I let him out to play. I don't think he's ever really considered practicing other combos or routines, in fact."
"Sort of why I was thinking... Would either of you like to take him in?" Mack questioned, glancing up to Andrew and Elliot both. "You two seem like interesting trainers in your own rights, between Ellie there handling that Binacle fight like a champ, and Snowpea being able to talk some spirit into your Shellder buddy and heal her like that. I think a trainer like either one of you two could really make Larimar shine."
Andrew, briefly, couldn't help giving the offer some honest thought. Taking in a Spheal would mean that he'd have three pokemon - certainly more than he expected to end his first day with. And even if Larimar indeed appeared to be rather vain and smug, he also appeared to still be a child finding his footing. Indeed, with the right trainer, Larimar could really shine - be it on the stage, or in a fight...
... Slowly, and carefully, Andrew would crouch down; extending a hand out to Larimar.
It took a second for the Spheal to snap out of his frozen daze, noticing Andrew's gesture; peering towards the outstretched hand. That was the quiet one - the boy who had, out of the three, not said a single word. It took a second for Larimar to make up his mind on whether or not to regard Andrew's gesture, but... When he did, he'd hop forward - pressing the top of his head, into Andrew's hand..!
The young man's eyes lit up visibly, as Larimar approached - and quietly, he'd run his hand over the surface of the large Spheal's head. Indeed, Larimar's fur was quite plush, like most Spheal - though his fur also bore a bit of a silky smooth quality to it. It made Andrew wonder, just what kind of pokemon Larimar was descended from; a Vaporeon? A Dewgong? It was hard to say - but one thing that Andrew could tell now, was that Larimar seemed to approve of his touch - the young Spheal constantly rolling and leaning into his hand, wherever he stroked.
Inari, meanwhile, would approach Larimar to get a proper sniff of him - visibly curious. Upon noticing her approach, Larimar would briefly observe her - sniffing her back as he did. Though the Spheal initially was unsure what he thought of the Vulpix, it didn't take Larimar very long to form a first impression; briefly admiring the vivid and sleek red fur that she bore. It was easy to tell, that she wasn't a water type like he or his teammates were.
Wanting to find out more about Inari, he would make an inquiring squeak to her - briefly puffing a bit of Powder Snow into the air - before tilting his head; wondering what element Inari was. Inari, in turn, appeared happy to show; yipping in response, and puffing a bit of Ember into the air, where the two attacks met in a small puff of steam...!
Larimar was immediately endeared to this, clapping his flippers. Ah, he could see now; she was a fiery vixen! A ruby beauty! A princess of flame! Even though they were opposites in element, he was sure that she would prove to be a beautiful partner for the stage..! He was utterly entranced...!
Inari, frankly, was a little puzzled by the reaction; but still wagged her tails a bit. As odd as he was, he didn't seem like a bad pokemon; so she approved..!
Watching the trio interact, Mack seemed to take this all as a positive sign; smiling gently, and crouching down with Larimar, Andrew, and Inari. "He seems to like you guys; that's good to see." The breeder would comment; watching the trio interact for a few moments. "Want him?"
Andrew had to think on this for a few moments longer - still unsure of making such a big decision, like taking in another pokemon. However, in watching Inari and Larimar seemingly get off on the right foot near-immediately, he decided that it'd be a shame to separate them when they were getting along. "... Y... Y-yeah," He'd mumble softly, nodding as he stood back up.
Mack would stand back up as well; taking a second to get the Dive Ball back out, and offering it to Andrew. "He's yours, Snowpea. As a quick rundown; he likes keeping his fur clean - hence him preferring to hop instead of roll - and he's happiest when he has an audience to show off to while practicing - even if it's just one person. Keep an eye on him if you put him to a task, too; he's prone to going above and beyond, which can sometimes lead to antics or chaos." Mack briefly scratched his cheek, remarking "Asked him to help water some plants, and he uhh... Kind of flooded the pots, thinking that more water was better."
Andrew, nodding understandingly, would take the Dive Ball; holding it close to his chest, and glancing down to Larimar. The Spheal would be peering back up at him in turn - his eyes wide and excited, a certain light to them. "... Welcome to the team, Larimar." Andrew would whisper to the little seal; crouching down to hug Larimar close, and pat him on the head. The Spheal would eagerly snuggle into Andrew's touch, letting out a happy bark as he did - wrapping his nubby flippers around Andrew in turn.
Mack, satisfied, would smile to the gathered group, mentioning "You guys have fun; I'm probably gonna go back to supervising the kiddos over there, before they get into any trouble. Gimme a shout if you want a battle or something!" as he turned, to walk away back to the stream.
With that, it would just be Elliot, Andrew, and their assembled group of pokemon. Larimar was curious about all the different pokemon - though he also was visibly eager to get on the road, if the way he started to bounce ahead a few short paces said anything..! Laughing brightly, Andrew couldn't help but follow after the eager Spheal - Inari close at their heels, as they moved on down the path...

Elliot winced a little as he noticed Andrew's distress and Inari's concern. Right. Too much excitement. He blushed a little and averted his eyes, not wanting to draw attention to his drawn attention by outright apologizing. He could only hope that his silence would speak volumes, and show Andrew that despite his excitability he was still paying attention. Echo scampered over to the boy in term, giving him a gentle pat on the ankle. As she did, her Healing Pulse fired up again, even though the boy didn't have any real injuries. Was she trying to heal his nerves instead, much as he did for Murex?
That said, Elliot's focus on Andrew quickly shifted to focus on Larimar, Elliot finding it hard not to laugh a little at the Spheal's one trick. "Hey, don't worry about it!" he said, stooping down to give the Spheal a warm, soft smile. "The fact that you've already come up with one on your own like that is incredible, you know? I still haven't even considered what kinds of routines I'd teach my Pokemon, if we took that route." Sure, there was Echo and Reverb's little dance number. But that was different! Or . . . was it? Maybe Elliot was more on the ball than he thought. "With that kind of cleverness under your belt, a little bit of training and I bet you'll be blowing audiences away."
Seeing Andrew's clear and present interest in the Spheal, Elliot took a backseat and let Andrew do most of the socializing here. Besides, he was already above a full team of six! He didn't need to go hoarding every Pokemon they encountered on their journey. Sure enough, the two bonded quite quickly. And they bonded even moreso when Larimar set his eyes on Inari, the fox getting him swooning excitedly. Again, Elliot couldn't help but smile, looking down at Reverb. "Kindred spirits, eh buddy?" Elliot asked, only for the Gothita to turn away to hide his blush. He huffed and crossed his arms, trying to play it off, but Echo clearly found it hilarious. As she walked up, giving Reverb a gentle punch in the arm, he suddenly started laughing as if it was the funniest thing in the world.
The Dudes looked over to Joule, who simply shrugged and smiled. It seemed the team's newest member was just as confused as its most senior member about these two's dynamic. Nevertheless, it seemed they were getting a little antsy to move again. Vivi in particular started pacing back and forth, her young legs demanding exercise! Would she get her satisfaction?
With how Larimar went charging away, she'd be getting her wish! Elliot shot a quick wave Mack's way, dashing off to catch up with the seal Pokemon and his new trainer. Vivi was quick to shoot in front of him, happily criss-crossing the path before him with each footstep. Was she trying to make him stumble? No! Or, at least, probably not. But it was clear that she was trying to hop a little further each time, and Elliot was just on the receiving end of the little game. Joule chided her gently, but the Eevee was having too much fun! Elliot simply laughed the concern off. "Ah, I'm too slow for her to trip me up, Joule," he said, offering her a warm smile. " 'Sides, it's Vivi's first day with us! We should make sure it's a fun one for her, y'know?"
Surprisingly enough, the stream didn't keep going into the horizon. In fact, it actually turned and began to follow the path that the two trainers walked. Elliot turned to look at the site, letting out a relaxed sigh. "Y'know, it's really beautiful out this time of year," he mused. "If I knew it was this nice out, I totally would've gone for a swim!" Though as he said the words swim, he couldn't help but follow the stream's flow with his eyes. He wasn't the only thing that had considered swimming in the river today. And, sure enough, far in the distance Elliot noticed a familiar hunched-over figure. He diverted from Andrew's path to follow the sight, squinting as he watched. No. It couldn't be!
Yet it was. The Binacle from before was back, chittering down at the water. Upon noticing Elliot she stuck two tongues out at him, blowing a raspberry, then dove back beneath the waves. At first, Elliot didn't think anything of it. Yet was the water started to ripple and spin, Elliot stopped his approach. "Uh, Andrew? Careful, I think something s-" he started, but before he could finish his sentence a brilliantly-glowing light game bursting out from the waters!
The glow subsided as it hovered in the air, revealing a ten-pronged purple star. It let out a series of almost mechanical beeps as it rotated among itself, its unblinking red eye focused right on Elliot.
