Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
Watching Elliot’s Pokemon was a treat in of itself. The way the two Psychic types bickered and how the lone Water type at the table stole the show was too cute. It made her almost wish she could have Shimmer or any combinations of her Pokemon out for that matter. Too bad they had to be at home right then playing around like they did when free of their Coordinator.
Elise giggled as Elliot spoke. “Well…. not really,” she admitted with a sillier expression therein. Thumbing over to the glass display of sweets, she went on. “Dad’s actually got one of those in the back that’s even bigger so I just….” She rolled her shoulders and then shrugged a little. “They are on their third day of being refrigerated, but they’re still good! Promise!” she flashed a warm smile right after. A small giggle came and went. “These were actually on their second day though…” she whispered quickly before raising one of the strawberries and immediately taking a bite.
As the questions followed, Elise gave a small hum. “I have this afternoon off, so I’m going to practice more with Shimmer and company,” she answered as she gulped down some strawberry. “I don’t think you met Shadow yesterday, but she’s my Umbreon. Her and Serenity and Rainbow— my Sylveon pair— make up a trio of acts too! We haven’t gotten as much practice in as Shimmer and Sans and Spotlight though.” She sighed a little wistfully and shrugged her shoulders. “I might see what the girls are up to later too.” They did have a show coming up! But Spring Fling had captured Elise's mind for a bit!

It was hard not to giggle at Elise's goofy facial expressions. Who knew that such a renowned, graceful idol was such a complete and utter dork? It made the idea of sitting down and casually eating with her way more comfortable than Elliot would have expected. If he could peek into his future and saw this even a week ago, he probably would've been embarrassed and baffled. Here, instead he was listening to Elise sneak strawberries out of the fridge and giggling up a storm. "A day early? I didn't take you for a master thief," he teased after finally pulling himself away from the laughter. "Who knows what you'll be sneaking out next!"
Teasing aside, it seemed like Elise was finally going to be getting her training on. Elliot hummed happily at the sound. "An Umbreon, huh? That's really cool!" Elliot said, Lord Beerus swiveling his head at the mention of his opposite number. "It's gotta take some serious skill mixing Fairy and Dark type techniques, you know? Like, if you do it wrong, I could see them totally overwhelming each other. But if you do it right the distance has to be really striking! Honestly, it's hard not to be curious what it'd be like."
That said, Elliot couldn't help but laugh warmly. "Y'know, after the show you were putting on, Echo totally stayed up all night trying to copy it," he said. "But she's still not the most coordinated, and she doesn't really have a lot of flashy moves yet. So she was totally just flail-stepping around and pointing at the sky. It was adorable."
A master thief! Elise giggled all the more. What would she pull out next? “Maybe a piece of king kitty cake!” Elise giggled at that. “Actually it’s so popular, Dad makes a whole one at least one a day to keep up.”
Elise wouldn’t notice Beerus’s reaction to her words immediately. Her eyes had stayed on range with Elliot’s. “Yeah! Shadow, Rainbow, and Serenity are really close though. They kinda know what the other is thinking almost,” she answered with a softer smile. “They’re siblings too so I guess that helps.” She giggled right after.
At the mention of Echo, though, Elise turned to the Ralts and flashed a warm grin. “Really? That’s wonderful! I bet you’ll grow really strong and beautiful, Echo!” she addressed the Ralts directly. Looking back at Elliot again, Elise grinned. “Ralts is part Fairy type! You should teach her Dazzling Gleam!” she grinned at that.

Lord Beerus purred with contentment as Elise expanded on the virtues of the cap-off to his feasting. Sure, he was still working through the Breakfast Bonanza now, even if he had to slide a little bit of every pastry he had towards a mischievously-grinning Joule. But soon, he'd be feasting like the king of this establishment, a very fitting title for himself. "Just don't steal Lord Beerus' piece!" Elliot teased, the cat angrily barking towards him for even making the suggestion. "He'd be grumping at me the whole walk home. And trust me, he might be quiet now, but he can be loud when he wants to be!" As intimidated as Elliot could be by the Espeon's power and ruthlessness, him stuck in a kitty cafe with the task of being at his best behavior made his usual grumpiness hilarious!
The mention of siblings had Elliot nodding in interest. "Like me and my brother!" he chirped. "When the two of us are on the same page, there's nothing in the world that can stop us." However, after saying this, Elliot's smile dropped slightly. The pancakes before him were suddenly especially interesting. And especially tasty, judging by how quickly Elliot popped another bite in his mouth.
While he nervously ate the topic back into his mouth, Echo put her hands to her face and wiggled. Elise's admiration got her feeling all blushy and squiggly! She promptly hopped onto the table and show Elise her "routine", which amounted to swaying back and forth as psychic energy shimmered over her outstretched hands. There really wasn't anything to it yet. But at some point, who knows? It could've made a solid base for a far stronger set of techniques.
She stopped the demo as soon as Elise mentioned Dazzling Gleam, though. That wasn't a move she'd heard of before! She tilted her head in interest, taking a few more steps towards Elise as if hoping to hear more.
A laugh escaped from Elise as Elliot spoke. “I wouldn’t dream of it! Promise!” she reassured the Espeon with a warm smile. Granted that king kitty cake was probably more than enough for a few of them, in all actuality.
Oh? Elliot had a brother? Elise smiled a little softer. She didn’t miss the slight drop in Elliot’s demeanor but couldn’t begin to guess why it was happening. “What’s your brother like?” she asked. “I only have sisters, but I have both younger and older ones. My younger sisters and I are really close!”
Her attention flicked to Echo, however, and Elise cooed softly back at the cute Ralts. “Ooohhhh…” The soft sway of the tiny creature and the psychic energy surrounding her was really pleasant! A small little “heheheh” escaped from Elise as the Ralts showed interest in such a move. “Both Spotlight and Sans can use it…. I wonder if Sans would teach you...” Sans was by default a better teacher than Spotlight even if Elise never did know what went on between the Hattrem and the Ralts as it was. “It makes super shiny sparkles with Fairy energy!”

Lord Beerus huffed at the whole exchange, but if his cake wasn't stolen than he was satisfied. Instead he just let himself relax, continuing to devour the rest of his Breakfast Bonanza. Him and Echo were actually neck and neck, especially now that Echo had Murex helping her work through the platter. Who would end up finishing their meal first? Whoever won, Elliot's wallet would surely lose.
Yet Echo'd be distracted from eating when Elise mentioned her Fairy type moves and Pokemon. The description of Dazzling Gleam sounded great! Yet something else sounded even better; spotlight! At mention of the Hattrem Echo cooed and broke out into applause, all too happy to hear about the cool, older Psychic type. It was as if she didn't even remember the time Spotlight bitch-slapped her into the next dimension.
Elliot giggled at Echo's antics, but at the mention of his brother he couldn't help but light up some. "Oh, he's great!" Elliot chirped. "You wouldn't know it from looking at him, 'cause he totally seems like a bit of a slacker. But when he puts his mind to it, he's actually a really dedicated and hard-working guy. Ever since I was a kid, he pretty much always did his best to be there for me, no matter what. Sure, he can be a bit high strung sometimes. But its all because he cares, y'know? Now matter how he comes off, he's a total softie. Just ask the Cubone he took in a while back. They haven't, like, gone on an adventure yet. Heck, I don't even know if ol' Duster knows how to fight yet. But he's basically caring for her as if she was his own kid, even if she's still kinda touchy around people in general. He even had a little part of his room set aside to make into a little burrow for her. It's the kind of thing I'd love to do for my team once I actually have a home to call my own, y'know?
He's pretty laid-back overall. He worries about others a lot, but when it comes to himself he never really stresses the little things. But that all changes if there's something lighting a fire under him. After that? Nothing in the world can stop him. Makes him a blast to play games against, because I know if I can get him in the mood for it he'll go all-out. I don't think he's really pursuing anything at the moment, though. Keeping us afloat through the move with a bunch of odd jobs had really been keeping him busy lately. Sometimes when he thinks I'm sleeping, though, I can hear him practicing on his acting. He's really shy about it, so I don't bring up the subject. But he's a lot better than he gives himself credit for!"
As he continued to talk about the subject, however, his smile wavered. He tried to keep it up when he turned back to Elise, but try as he might a palpable sadness was underlying it. "You won't think less of me, right?"
Elise giggled as Elliot described his brother. A touchy fighty slacker with a heart of gold, huh? Cute. They must be really close… This thought was abruptly cut off as Elliot mentioned actually having a home to call his own. “You don’t?” she ask-stated back confused. It sounded like he had, or at least that was the impression she had gotten?? Was he perhaps an orphan and they only had each other?? Oh, oh no!
Distress pulled onto Elise’s features even as Elliot kept talking. Keeping them afloat? Odd jobs??? Acting jobs?? Hundreds of sad ideas suddenly twisted up in Elise’s mind, and she could only imagine which one of them was the truth! The look of sadness was completely misinterpreted, and her face visibly contorted.
Suddenly, Elise’s eyes were watering, and she was quick to rub them carefully as to avoid messing up her makeup. “Are… are…. Are you….. do you….. do you need a home?” she squeaked. “I can talk to my dad and see what we could do or…. I don’t know uhm….” She was stammering now as she struggled to get ahold of herself again.

Huh? Was Elise crying? A pained look shot across Elliot's face as he saw tears misting at the corners of her eyes. This wasn't right! She misunderstood what he said! Wait, no. She understood what he said better than even he did! No, that still wasn't it. She half-understood, if only by accident, some of the truths underlining some of the words he had spoken. Was that correct? Oh, now Elliot's head was starting to hurt. Nevertheless, as the girl started asking about home situations, he worriedly held his hands up. "No, I- I mean, I- It's okay, I don't- I mean, I-" he stammered, clearly flustered as he tried to explain everything.
When it was clear he couldn't figure it out he took a quick breath, trying to regather his composure. "It really means a lot to me that you'd ask that. But, I promise, I'm okay," Elliot started. "It's not that I don't have a home. But . . . I know my brother means well, but he can be a bit overprotective sometimes, y'know? Ever since the . . ." His eye wandered down to his leg for a precious, fleeting second. "Well, you know. And ever since the Ultra Beasts came, mom shared that sentiment. All I ever wanted was the chance to go on a journey of my own. Find the freedom everyone else back at home could. Define myself, y'know? But once the Ultra Beasts came, 10 turned to 13. Then each year after that was a 'maybe next year.'
I did a really bad thing, Elise. I told them I was going on a trip with friends. And then I never came back."
He sighed, tears biting at the corner of his eyes. "It's only been a week," he specified. "They don't know yet. Or at least, I don't think they figured it out. It's not like I'm out there on my own, either. I'm actually bunking with Levy right now, believe it or not. She's actually one of the only other people I've told about all this. And I'm really lucky she was kind enough to let me stay with her. But I promise. I'm not hurt, or in a bad way, or anything like that. In fact, for the most part, this journey's been kind of a life-changer for me! I'm just . . ."
He looked down into a coffee, blinking back some tears. "I just wish it felt like I could talk to him about this, you know?"
Elliot’s immediate words and actions did not help Elise’s assumptions. Oh goodness. Oh gods. He was some ravaged orphan from a war torn region with a name she couldn’t pronounce, wasn’t he? She reached one hand up to cover her mouth and then another to pull at her hair awkwardly. A cat unceremoniously hopped into her lap and had her shifting awkwardly to accommodate.
Ever since the…. Oh no! What tragic fate had befallen him? What travesty had shaken the foundation of his life? Perhaps? A heart break? Was he a runaway prince whose princess had abandoned him at the alter on Christmas— Elise was not at all paying attention to what Elliot was looking down at, in all actuality. Well you know… Well! She did know now! What poor princely fate! Oh woe to this small man here! “Huh?”
Elise blinked back into reality a little dazed and confused. He’d… “Wait what?” He was??? LEVY??? “Wait what??????” Her Levy??? She was ??? So??? Confused???? What??? Elise’s features flickered in a myriad of emotions, none of which made sense in context even to her. “What??”
Post by Elliot Sunderland on May 5, 2020 1:54:36 GMT
Elliot blinked as Elise.exe encountered a shutdown. Oops. Did he hit her with too much tragic backstory at once? Or was his explanation just so bad that she couldn't properly parse it? Frankly, Elliot had no idea. "Uh . . . Elise? You okay?" Elliot asked. He gently waved a hand, as if trying to wave a hand in front of her face while also being too polite to actually violate her personal space. "I, uh. I didn't break you, did I? I didn't mean it! I promise!"
After a few seconds of awkwardness, Elliot went back over what he'd said. Right. Maybe it was the L-word that threw the poor girl off. "I'm gonna guess you're confused about the Levy thing. Yeah, she kinda found out about all this," Elliot said. "And, well. You know how worried she can get when there's somebody in need. Before I even knew what was going on, I'd basically gotten an offer to live with her." He sighed, a soft smile spreading across his face. "She's really pretty awesome, you know? I don't think I can find the words for how much I owe her. And, heck, I owe you big time too for not even hesitating to make an offer just like hers. I mean, it's not like we've even-"
Oh. Oh no. If just the idea of living with Levy broke Elise's brain enough, bringing up the time when they survived a traumatic Pokemon attack together would probably make it even worse. Maybe he could just skip over that little detail.
Nevertheless, at least talking through the situation got some stress off of Elliot's shoulders. Yet before he continued rambling about his problems, he made sure to at least check and see if Elise had rebooted yet. He wasn't trying to kill the poor girl here!
Elise’s brain was fiercely trying to reboot. She was now trying to recount exactly what Elliot had said up to that point and pitifully failing at every turn. He just…. he just…. he… what? I didn’t mean it, I promise! “What????” Levy just…. Levy?? Did she??? Why did she not even??? How did???
Like a flash of lightning, Elise’s phone had raised itself from her pocket, and with a wild frenzy not unlike a ravaging animal, her thumbs flashed across her touch screen. Purple eyes gazed slightly down, but she hardn’t needed to see right then to know where the correct buttons were. [Levy is there something you’re not telling me? About Elliot?] Not again. She was not doing this again. NOT. A. GAIN.
Post by Elliot Sunderland on May 5, 2020 2:11:17 GMT
Clearly that was not the right answer! Elise shot off a text with all the speed of a frenzied animal, and Elliot let out a startled yelp as he bore witness to such fury. But it was okay! Maybe he could explain himself in time! All he had to do was out-text Elise.
As she poked at the screen so hard, smoke rose from her fingers.
And she was clearly typing a way shorter message.
And she probably had the ultimate weapon; the cafe wi-fi password.
Yet, Elliot at least owed it to Levy as her friend to not leave her completely unprepared. Elliot steeled himself for a two-way lecture as he took out his phone to fire off a text of his own. [Levy please don't get mad but I kinda told Elise the truth because she thought I was homeless or maybe a runaway prince from some war-torn region like Orre and she got all worried about me and I didn't want her to be sad]
Alright, the scene was set, and Levy was ready to go. Zei sat in her computer chair, content while a random podcast was going. Surprisingly the Nickit found video games interesting, and while he couldn't play them himself (without some difficulty) they were still good to watch. So other than the fox Levy had the house to herself. Elliot had gone out awhile ago, so Levy was going to take the chance to pamper herself a bit to calm her nerves.
The injury had healed, leaving a barely visible scar that she was hoping would fade completely in time. But after being told she was hallucinating, and then still seeing the hallucinations after she had received treatment for what was causing them in the first place? It was unnerving, as there was definitely something wrong with her. Or at least something going on that she had no clue about. So the bluenette was stressed, at least enough that she felt like she deserved some pampering.
The tub had been filled with just slightly too warm water, knowing it would cool probably quicker than anticipated. Scented bubbles filled up what space remained. A cup of her favorite tea was already made, steam still curling from the mug though it too was cooling. Bathroom door now shut, she was ready to relax. Her hair had been brushed and tied up, a towel rolled up and resting at the edge of the tub. All she had to do was remove her robe and sink into the water.
Instead Levy sneezed, high pitched and loud as it had totally caught her off guard. And the hairs at the back of her neck were tingling. Uh oh, that wasn't good. She really needed to relax now, but as her foot breached the layer of bubbles, just dipping into the water, her phone vibrated on the counter. Heart nearly bursting from her chest Levy stumbled backwards and glared at the offending device. Levy sighed before checking it all the same. Two new texts? Now wasn't she popular.
She ch2cked the oldest first, which was Elise. Was there something she wasn't telling her best friend about Elliot? Okay, what was the context behind that? Before replying she looked at the other text from Elliot and her jaw dropped a little. Okay, she definitely needed some context now.
[Ok, I need some actual context here. Told her the truth about what? What did you say to her?] The text was sent to Elliot.
As for Elise, something that definitely came of as a bit more concerned. [Uh, no? I tell you and the girls basically everything. Why?]
Elise didn’t notice Elliot texting. Her mind was elsewhere: on the many many scenarios that could be at play here. Elliot was a runaway prince having fallen in love with the beautiful PNG princess that was Levy, and now they were secretly living together and hopefully not about to disappear under mysterious circumstances. That was the last thing she needed. Not after… not after Arietta’s…. Arietta.
As her phone vibrated again, Elise’s eyes refocused and she stared down at the text from one of her very bestest best friends ever. She told her everything. Her eyes flickered up to Elliot and then down at the phone again. She… was she hiding something? Hiding an engagement to an Orrean prince! Elise’s lips parted as she looked at Elliot… and then closed again as she looked down at her phone again. [It’s ok, I know about the engagement. I can keep a secret!] she texted back.
Post by Elliot Sunderland on May 6, 2020 0:17:30 GMT
Elliot couldn't help but grin a little as his phone rung before Elise's. Ha! He got the first text! Maybe that meant he wasn't dead meat after all. Yet it seemed like Levy didn't quite get the context of his earlier message. Oh well, he had kind of rambled there anyway. At least now, he could properly explain himself. [You know. The part where we're living together and all that. The convo got on Isaac somehow and I made myself sad, but she took it to mean I was homeless or something. So I tried to tell her I was living with you to help get her mind off of it, because she's been a really great friend so far and it kinda hurts seeing her cry. But I think she took it the wrong way because she started looking down really intensely and texting fast. And hard. It's a little bit scary? Anyway I've got, like, no idea what she's telling you, but I hope this helped clear things up for you.
Of course. Of course Elise would be the faster texter. So Levy sat there, staring at her phone for what felt like the longest time as she waited for her friends to reply. And wasn't shocked when Elise finished first.
"WHAT?!" Levy verbally shrieked suddenly. An engagement?! Levy really, really hoped that Elise meant engagement as in an agreement between two people and not the engagement that meant her potentially getting married! Now she really needed to hear back from Elliot because this was out of hand and now Zei was pawing under the door thinking that Levy was in serious trouble.
Levy eventually had to open the door and let the Nickit in lest he actually dig himself a large enough cap in the carpet to get under the door.
Then finally she got the text from Elliot. She tried not to glare at it, but she was definitely on edge and annoyed right now. Blue eyes narrowed dangerously at her phone as Levy channeled her inner Elise and began typing very, very quickly.
[She asked me if there was anything I wasn't telling her, specifically about you, and now she says she knows about an engagement and that she'll keep it secret?? Like she thinks we are getting married?!] The text was sent off quickly before Levy was turning her attention to responding to Elise.
[No, Eli, there are no secrets. No engagements, no nothing! Elliot is just a kid I met while put for a walk back to Bass, there was an incident with an Espeon, Lord Beerus now, and his walking stick broke. It was a long walk back, he was really hurting, so I offered to let him stay in my spare room rather than the Pokemon Center. Elliot is more like a little brother than anything else to me. You know I'm still trying to figure out all this romantic crap so I don't deal with the drama Ara has dealt with.]
Elise chewed her lower lip as she waited with bated breath to see just what Levy would text back. She didn’t want to make (too many) assumptions, but clearly there was some escapade to a far away country she’d never heard of! And she didn’t to lose her bestest best friend in the process! Arietta had almost had that happened, and noooooo! Not again!
As the text finally came through, Elise read it slowly. Her brows knit together, and a pensive look held her features. A kid she met while on a walk back from Bass? Lord Beerus? Her eyes flicked up to the Espeon and then down at her phone again. Hmmmmmm. Hmmmmmm. She wasn’t sure bought that, but maybe… maybe Levy didn’t want anyone to know! Maybe this was a cover story so that if anyone traced their phones, they wouldn’t be sure! Yes! That had to be it! Well… well she’d just have to play along then! Until they could meet in person and talk face to face about it!!!
[Oh ok! Good to know! We should all hang out sometime! Maybe go to the boardwalk or something!] Elise looked up from her phone again and smiled at Elliot. “It’s really nice that you got to meet Levy randomly!” she emphasized and immediately giggled.
Post by Elliot Sunderland on May 7, 2020 23:51:27 GMT
[AN ENGAGEMENT!?!?!?!?] Elliot texted, fingers slamming on the punctuation buttons as if his life depended on it. An absolutely neon blush spread across his face. Where the heck did Elise even get that idea from? Why? How? The boy was equal parts flattered, nervous, surprised, and actually kind of grossed out. His admiration for Levy had, by now, thoroughly settled into the role of a little brother. The idea of marrying her just felt wrong!
His texts finished, he gingerly set his phone down. "An engagement!?" he promptly asked, the blush spreading even more deeply across his face at having to confront the words out loud. "C-c'mon, Elise. She's just my friend, that's all. I mean, I only met her a week ago! It'd be really weird if I tried to marry someone I just met, you know? And, I mean. Come on. She's Levy!
I-I mean, It's not that I wouldn't marry her. She's a really fantastic person, and she's totally going to make someone the happiest guy or girl in the world one day. B-but that person's not me! I'm, like, a little brother to her, you know? Besides. She's, like, way out of my league. Like, jeez, I'd be flattered if I wasn't so confused right now!"
Echo was pretty much laughing up a storm at this point, to the point where she was blushing just as brightly as Elliot. Unfortunately, she chose to do this while chowing down on her Breakfast Bonanza. A piece of pastry slipped down her mouth mid-laugh, Murex needing to give her a solid tongue-slap on the back to dislodge the offending pastry. Amazingly enough, this didn't even break her stride. Was Elliot's schadenfreude that enjoyable? According to the living emotional detector, the answer was yes!
Elliot added, lowkey trying to keep his face hidden behind his phone. The poor kid was mortified!
[Yeah, she seems to be under the impression that this is some sort of fairy tale when it isn't. I told her the truth but I have a feeling her text is just humoring me.] Levy frowned as she typed back to Elliot. Though she didn't really expect a reply. Not with what he had said. She could practically hear the text as a horrified shriek in her ears. So she was maybe actually a little worried as she frowned at her phone.
[Yeah, that would be nice. Though, is Elliot okay? His last text was somewhat concerning. Should I head over there?] Levy asked Elise reluctantly, biting her lip as she glanced between her phone and the bath. It was starting to get cold anyway. And at this point she was much more worried about Elliot and him having some sort of meltdown than her own time with a relaxing bath.
She could still feel the embarrassment through the text...
“Sssshhhhh you don’t want it getting out to the public! I understand!” Elise answered Elliot before giving him and assured knowing look back. As Elliot went on, Elise’s lips pressed together followed by her brows. He really was pushing for this story. She supposed she understood! They obviously had a system worked out, and she just had to play along. Yeah, she understood!
But as Elliot went on, Elise’s features seemed to wane a little. Was he… was he just trying that hard to hide it? Was he… maybe trying to take Levy away like Gabe had tried to take Ari all those years ago??? A hand raised up to Elise’s mouth as her pink eyes grew wide with alarm. She wouldn’t even look at her phone right after. She was too!!! Alarmed!!!!!!! That was why Levy was being cautious and saying those things and oh no no no no no!
“Pleasedon’ttakeherawaytosomeforeignregioninthemiddleofnowherepleaseshe’soneofmybestestbestfriendsElliotIdon’twanthertodisappear!!!!” Elise’s eyes were watering all of a sudden, and the pained, desperate look on her face would have been comical in any other situation but….
