Something moved out from behind a tree, and a squeaky boof escaped from Ruby. Gabe’s eyes flashed sidways and found the small star child almost immediately after. Cleffa was… a lot smaller than he had expected it to be… and a lot cuter than he kenw what to do with. Gabe shook his head. They just had to battle, catch, and gift it. That was why they were here.
“Ruby,” he ordered causing the Growlithe to straighten some. “I don’t want to hurt it any more than necessary…. Start with Flame Charge,” came the order. The Growlithe yipped and immediately started to run forward warming up her fur to blazing before knocking into the Cleffa. The latter yelped as it was crashed into. Gabe winced a little up until the Cleffa used Copycat to go barreling back at Ruby. The latter wasn’t as affected by such a move and quickly shook it off in fact. Still, it kept Gabe on guard at least.
A few quick rounds, and Gabe was fishing out and tossing forward a Heal Ball.

Cleffa were cute. There was no denying how their little star shaped bodies and round eyes seemed to just warm hearts and open minds out of nowhere. For Sid, though, the appeal was in the fact these squishy pink candy children were also star children. They would grow into Clefairy and perhaps one day even be Clefable, and Clefable were just… so beautiful, really. They could dress up as all kinds of things and be in all kinds of artistic scenes, and it was great. That was more than enough of a reason for Sid to stray off their path back to Fuji and down towards Pine for a short bit.
Their Honedge Excalibur was at their side but unfortunately didn’t have anything super effective to target a Cleffa with. It was still ok, though. Type advantage only offered a certain level of protection, after all. It was about assurance, synch, strategy, and harmony with one’s Pokemon that controlled the sway of a battle… and maybe they weren’t the best at that just yet but they were trying.
Eri knew her darling Karrablast egg was surely close to hatching, a lot of her older pokemon had been making a fuss and the eggs temperature had been fluctuating for a while now, so after speaking to the stars Eri came to the conclusion that the best idea for her egg was to take it for a walk, and maybe let it see certain sights and things that could entice it to want to hatch! Maybe it was a foolish idea, but it was better than anxiously walking around her nursery for hours.
So here she was, walking down route 6 with her Karrablast egg cradled to her chest and humming some stellar tune that the stars had willed to play on the radio at her home. Hopefully the pacing of her footsteps down the routes path, the beating of her heart and the sights around her would aid to the egg hatching-and maybe- if the stars wished it, a stellar sighting perhaps?! Whatever the case, Eri was beyond bursting into stardust- she just wanted her Karrablast to hatch!
"That over there's a tree!" Eri had begun walking past various 'landmarks' in the route, excitedly pointing out things she walked past to the egg she held tightly. Of course, there was no response, but she lied to assume that the little mon was marvelling at the world around them jjust like Eri was! "And that's a dirt pile! Gifted to us by the stars above!" dirt was interesting enough, right? One foot infront of the other, her eyes continued to focus on specific things, looking for something a little more substantial to show her little egg- she almost got too carried away, and was drawn out of her little sight-seeing by a soft coo from nearby.
What was that?! Eri instantly began towards the sound, holding the egg a little tighter- she almost missed the small Cleffa who hid himself behind a tree at the sight of Eri, and probably would have walked right by him had he not stumbled back onto a twig! Eri let out a gasp at seeing the small pink mon, and almost immediatly bent down, using one hand to hold the egg tighter.
"It's alright, star-guide! I'm not here to hurt you!" As if to show him she meant no harm, Eri moved to show the egg to the Cleffa. "I raise and care for pokemon!" The cleffa toddled forward curiously, reaching out a tiny hand to brush against the egg, and Eri couldn't help but beam at the gesture. "Do you like eggs, little guy?"
She waited a few beats for a response, before giggling softly, moving to push through her pockets before grabbing out a ball and rolling it towards the Cleffa. "...Maybe you'd be interested in seeing more? If you come with me i'd gladly show you!"

Tiara had heard all about the Cleffa's on route 6- the criminals living in her apartment had been raving about how much they'd sell for and how utterly charming their appearance was on her last visit to give them sweets, and she was skeptical. She knew there were like, regional variations of pokemon, her brother having once been super obsessed with the different between types, and like, shiny forms, but... special coloured mons? Tiara couldn't really believe it- still though, it didn't hurt to go looking.
Perhaps that's why she found herself down route 6, Coronet walking besides her with a pep to the dogs step- this was like a daily walk for the dog! Annnd, if she behaved herself Tiara would for sure give her a bunch of treats! So that was always something to be excited about! Hopefully Tiara's worries about a weird coloured Cleffa could be cleared up- surely there was no such thing! And she could bring the news home to the criminals.

It was around the time Coronet had begun sniffing that Tiara realized that her Furfrou had caught the whiff of something- could it be the Cleffa that the dudes upstairs had been talking about?! "Go gettem, Coro~" Came her voice, urging the Furfrou forwards! Coronet barked giddily before breaking into full sprint, forwards down and... off the trail!?! Why was she going so far?! "Coro? Darling?" No matter what Tiara said, Coronet kept running, her poor trainer having to sprint along behind her just to keep up- and eventually the Furfrou came to a sudden halt- right infront of... a log?
Tiara squinted- nooo... there was something... pink stuck in the log?! Huh?! Coronet began barking at the log, which caused the log to begin... crying- uh- oh! Maybe there was a pokemon in there! Tiara wasted no time, moving forward to grab the Cleffa and gently easing them out of the log- only to be surprised when the Cleffa, terrified, attempted to hit her with magical leaf! Tiara quickly let the Cleffa down, stumbling away a few paces- ohhh, this Cleffa had some bite, but... her criminal mates had been totally wrong. There was only normal Cleffa's around here, afterall.
Well.. it would be decent practice to battle the tiny thing now and see how Coronet did- uh... "Coro- we're not gonna let her get away with that! Use Tackle!" Coronet launched forward at the Cleffa, tackling it to the ground like it was some sort of chew toy before bouncing back with a pounce, eager for more- this was actually kinda fun! Tiara hadn't let Coronet battle before- maybe because she was bred for illegal mon fighting but... still! Her tail wagged as the Cleffa attempted to use cute charm, a coo leaving her lips.
Coronet wasn't too influenced though- instead she moved into a headbutt, slamming her head right into the Cleffa, who directed a magical leaf right back and caused the dog pokemon to let out a surprised grunt- ohhh, she was gonna get it! Coronet's tail wagged faster, but- before she got the chance to hit again... Tiara threw forward a pokeball.
Gaki was bored. There was nothing much to do on the farm and it was above freezing- her favourite game was shut down for the next three hours because of bug fixes and she'd just had it- thankfully, somebody on chitter suggested she go take a digigo walk... which... sounded good on paper, except the face Gaki was entirely too lazy and her phone battery had barely survived past the first route- so now she was just wandering aimlessly, hands stuffed in her pockets, looking for some interesting plot point.
At one point she'd released Silky to keep her company, the Purrloin however found the route terrifying, not having her stats appropriately boosted, and practically jumped at every little sound the duo heard every little rustle in the bushes.. it truly was terrifying for the cat mon. It didn't help that everytime the cat got scared she attempted to weave inbetween Gaki's feet to get far, far away from whatever terrified her, causing the girl to trip over herself.
But it was fine! Maybe this could be a way too boost Silky's stats? She'd maybe have to test it... how do humans scare pokemon again?
The rain was quite distracting, to the point that when the Cleffa appeared, Sage didnt see it until she was nearly under her foot. She flailed, stumbling to the side in order to not step on it, and that was when she realized the Cleffa was purple. That was definitely not normal.
"Aria look! We've gotten lucky!" She addressed the Morpeko, who chittered in annoyance from the jostling. But once she poked her head out from under the hood and saw the Cleffa, she grew excited, jumping down to take a look.
"Okay," Sage said, looking the Cleffa over,"We dont want to hurt it too much, just distract it. So Aria, use Quick Attack."
The Morpeko did as asked, dashing forward to hit the Cleffa and jumping back. As she did so, Sage threw a pokeball, hoping to catch the Cleffa offguard.
A soft crunch sound drew Excalibur’s attention before Sid’s, but the latter would quickly be notified by the prior. Turning to see the small, cute star Pokemon staring out from behind a tree at them, Sid immediately melted. How could they attack something so precious and cute? Oh no.
“Don’t attack,” Sid ordered Excalibur. Thereafter, they approached the Cleffa slowly, carefully. “Hello there…” The Cleffa backed up a little, and Sid stopped moving for a second before bending down. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you….” The Cleffa stared at them before slowly coming forward again— just close enough.
Excalibur watched this and frowned as best a sentient sword could. Disappearing into his shadow, he sleuthed around before coming up unexpectedly with a Shadow Sneak. The Cleffa shrieked falling sideways. Sid tensed as well before looking judgingly at Excalibur. “I didn’t order you to attack,” they scolded before fishing out a Pokeball and tossing it at the Cleffa anyways. They hoped he wasn’t picking up these bad habits from Glitch.
Sage looked quite disappointed when the Cleffa escaped the pokeball, but the pokeball didnt break, so she hoped maybe she would have more luck if she tried again. But maybe... she should try a different tactic.
So she crouched down closer and called Aria back. "Come here Aria, let's give the little one some space."
The morpeko looked confused, but wasn't going to complain. She scurried between sage's legs to hide under her cape. Sage looked at the Cleffa thoughtfully.
"I'm sorry that we hit you. I get a little too excited, I should have asked you if you wanted to come along instead. Its cold, and wet, and I don't see any friends or family... are you lonely? You can come with us."
Sage spoke softly and gently, reaching out with the pokeball again. She wasnt sure if her extreme change of tactics would actually work, in fact she would understand if it didnt, but maybe she would get lucky.
