The Pidgey busted out of the ball and looked super skeptical, giving Cricket the side-eye. "Aw, come on, please? I swear it'll be great!" Pidgey responded by hitting Ponyta with another Tackle, but Ponyta didn't budge, nor did she attack again. Even though it was still fighting, Pidgey looked very, very weak and almost definitely couldn't take another hit.
Cricket reached into her bag and produced a handful of uncooked oats, which she always carried when she was out, and showed it to the bird Pokemon. "Look, see? I always have these, and I take super good care of all of my Pokemon! I spoil all of them, just ask Ponyta!" Ponyta swung her head up and down in a nodding motion as Cricket attempted to toss another ball.

"Hm.. Do you not like oats?" Cricket rummaged in her bag while Ponyta stood patiently, taking yet another Tackle from the black Pidgey as he reappeared out of the ball. Two unbroken balls sat untouched on the ground, and Cricket would pick them up after the Pidgey was caught or ran away, whichever.
"How about some of this sandwich I saved from my lunch today? Or some chips?" She held out one of the items in each hand. The Pidgey seemed more interested in the sandwich, which was turkey and swiss with just a little bit of ranch spread on the bread. She also held out another Poke Ball, hoping that this one was the one.
Well, here he was back on Route 1 all because there were a bunch of Pidgey around. It sounded promising to be sure and the bird type would be a great addition to his team. He was travelling with some of the newer additions to his team this time which was proving to be quite a challenge. Rhap got scared at the sight of his own shadow... not to mention Shatan loved any excuse to scare the Whismur. Only Ryuu seemed to be calm, of course, the Druddigon was a calm, kind soul. At least he had Pup to count on in a pinch. Well, there was Tide but the battle happy Oshawott wasn't his first choice to send out to battle.
"Come on, Shatan. We're here, no more scaring Rhap. Honestly, you're supposed to be looking out for Pidgey. At least try to get along?" At least the Sandygast seemed more open to correction ever since that day at the beach. Well, it was bound to get easier, right? Or at least, that's what Jazz kept telling himself.
It didn't take long for a Pidgey to come along... and effectively scare Rhap into using a Hyper Voice on the unsuspecting bird right away. Seriously? It was just looking for berries, Rhap... What was he going to do with the Whismur? Arceus save me. Thankfully, the Pidgey seemed to be alright and even used a Roost to feel better. Oh, well wasn't that interesting. Rhap felt pretty bad about retaliating like that and would've approached the Pidgey if Jazz hadn't stopped him. "Let Ryuu and Shatan have a go, Rhap. You'll get your chance next time," Jazz said, smiling when the Whismur nodded and let the dragon and sand mound take over.
It might not have been the best pairing to fight the Pidgey, but Jazz was confident that they could do it if they worked together. The Druddigon nodded and waited for the Sandygast to actually stop playing with the flowers and focus. Shatan finished making the flower crown and meandered over to where the Pidgey was, offering it to her in turn. The Pidgey seemed pleased and took it, only to be hit by an Absorb. That was clearly great fun for the Sandygast but unfortunately, the Quick Attack that was issued only made Shatan laugh more. Ryuu sighed and used a Scratch, injuring the Pidgey more. A few back and forth rounds would ensue before Jazz attempted to use a pokeball. That had gone better than he'd thought it would.
It seemed the Pidgey wasn't done with this battle as she broke out and this time used Gust that made Shatan start crying. Ryuu wasn't having any of it however and used a series of Scratches that had the Pidgey backing up. Shatan wasn't happy with the bird this time and used Absorb a few times. At least enough that he was feeling better. Annd there went the Pidgey in Shatan's mouth. Dammit. "Shatan! Spit her out! That's not fair!" Jazz called out, already running over to help the poor flailing Pidgey. Ryuu took a step back and sweat dropped, not quite sure what he could do in this instance without hurting everyone involved.
By the time Jazz succeeded in retrieving the Pidgey from the angry Sandygast's maw, she certainly seemed a little worse for the wear. Dammit, Shatan... They'd been working on that more, but apparently they still had some work to do before letting Shatan do a battle by himself. "Sorry about that, Pidgey... if you come with me, I can get you cleaned up. I have some medicine and other things, just... not with me right now." Offering another pokeball, Jazz was hopeful that this time he'd be able to catch the Pidgey.
After hearing about the swarms in the area, Koray decided to explore route 1 a little in the hopes of finding some more pokemon in the area. Rowan was a huge help in trying to find the Pidgey, even going so far as to explore in the trees. Maybe they're just a little further in... "Do you see anything, Rowan?" Koray called out, smirking a bit as the Phantump appeared from the bushes now covered with leaves, "No, I don't think they could hide in there. Can you go up the hill and see if you can spot any?"
The Phantump shook off the leaves and cooed in response, moving to go up the hill that Koray had gestured to. With how foggy it was starting to become, he certainly hoped that they would find something soon. Getting lost in the fog was not Koray's idea of fun, even if his Litwick might find it easier than most to get out of this fog.
Sure enough, Koray didn't have long to wait before an adorably tiny Pidgey made herself known. Rowan noticed her about the same time he had and immediately rushed over to say hi. The tiny Pidgey was startled and kicked up a Sand-Attack which made it a little hard for Rowan to see but didn't actually hurt the Phantump. Oh... well, that wasn't exactly good but... they could turn this around yet. "It's alright, Rowan. Use Power-Up Punch," Koray called out, thinking that the Pidgey was wanting to battle.
Rowan cleared his eyes from sand and looked at the Pidgey who was now ready to fight. This was a battle and she was going to fight with everything she had! Nodding, the Phantump took this as a sign to go ahead and used the attack on the Pidgey, hitting the tiny Pidgey with ease. The Pidgey attacked with Tackle only for it to... go right through the ghost. A startled chirp left the Pidgey as she was hit with yet another Power-Up Punch that sent her reeling backwards.
This time, she opted to use Mirror Move but... it didn't work? Flapping her wings in confusion and alarm, the Pidgey this time created a Gust that stung Rowan. The Phantump was able to power through the harsh wind one last time to use another Power-Up Punch that would make the Pidgey fall to the ground. Koray took the opportunity to throw a pokeball and hope that this would work.

The pokeball broke and Koray was admittedly a little surprised by how fierce this little Pidgey was. It was pretty admirable, actually. "Alright Rowan, we got this. Confuse Ray, then Power-Up Punch again. Watch out for those Gusts." The Phantump nodded and used the move, multiple purple and golden orbs floating around himself before being thrown at the Pidgey. While the Pidgey did try to fly away, she was struck by the move and suddenly found it rather difficult to remain upright. Her wings flapped in an effort to stay upright but this was easier said than done.
Rowan wasn't about to let this opening go to waste and rushed forward with a Power-Up Punch. While the Pidgey did try to avoid it, there wasn't much use and even the attempt to use Gust missed. "Again!" Koray called out, flinching as another Power-Up Punch sent the Pidgey reeling. Those punches had to hurt... Please stay in the ball this time... Tossing another ball at the Pidgey, Koray hoped that she would stay in this time.

Alistair was just trying to find some wild forage, but these damnable pidgeys didn't seem to want to leave him alone. Every other moment, it felt like, he was waving his arms at them like a maniac, frantically calling, "Shoo! Just leave me alone, you bastard birds." It didn't escape his notice that some of the flock seemed to be something other than pidgey, with at least a few murkrows scattered in among the dun-colored feathers. An iridescent gold seemed to glitter from within the mass as well, but Alistair couldn't see much of anything clearly.
Finally, the majority of the flock did move on. One, however, stayed behind. Alistair glared at the bird, and saw...

Alistair blinked at the little thing in front of him. Or, well, he supposed it was larger than the other pidgeys that had been plaguing him, but that wasn't what caught his attention -- the dear thing seemed to be melanistic. There was enough contrast in its feathers to see that it wasn't actually quite black, aside from its usual eye marking, but everything including its beak seemed to be dipped in ink.
"Oh," Alistair couldn't help but say to himself. "Any chance you'd like to come home with me?" Alistair didn't really need another blackbird, but... well, he already had the equipment to take care of Asphodel, little... little Belladonna here wouldn't be much more strain.
The bird didn't fly away as he moved for his bag, so he lightly tossed a pokéball in its direction.
