Snap, a bright light burst from the ball, and the Pidgeotto broke into the air again. Liz leapt from Gabe’s grasp as the Pidgeotto began performing a Feather Dance in rapid succession. The sea of feathers that came falling downwards had both Liz and Gabe squinting. It was trying to keep them both at bay from the look of it. It was going to be harder to get in close that way. Tch.
“Liz, Flamethrower,” Gabe answered. The Charmander took in a breath and then spewed flames singing the feathers as they fell and also spraying up towards the Pidgeotto. The latter took the attack and cried out. Briefly, it swayed in the air struggling to keep flying. Kicking up a Twister, it retaliated again. Gabe and Liz both tensed again. Fishing out another Pokeball, though, Gabe tossed it up at the Pidgeotto again. Hopefully those flames had been enough.
Gabe’s entire face physically twitched when the Pidgeotto broke out a second time. At least as the ball fell, he caught it and found it intact but damn if this thing wasn’t strong. A soft huff escaped from him then. “Liz, Dragon Rush then Thunder Punch….” Gabe ordered.
The Charmander mentally sighed but lowered herself to the ground, summed up that energy, and went barreling upwards towards the Pidgeotto. The latter spun out with a Twister, but Liz remained on course. Slamming into the bird, she then slammed her Electric fist into it again. This time, they were both falling. Liz flipped the Pidgeotto and landed on top of it this time. The bird struggled now Paralyzed from several punches of that Electric move.
Gabe grit his teeth and tossed the Pokeball at the bird again. This should better do it.
[attr="class","christelletext"] Just outside of Birch city, she stood at the entrance of route one. She looked down at Ivy and nodded lightly. "Well Ivy, let's see what we can find today, what do you think?" She watched as the female nindorian spun in a quick circle. Christelle laughed lightly at the sight and nodded. "Well, let's go then shall we." Together, the nurse and her female Nindorian started to walk the route. Christelle was watching out for auras that wanted to prove that someone was harmed or distressed, while Ivy was just looking at all of the Pidgey trying to find the best one to join their team.[break][break]Of course it didn't matter entirely, but the moment that they got a Pidgey was the moment that their little team and family was one step closer to being a full party. This was something that was good to know, even if right now the swarm they were in didn't hold a pokemon that was a poison type. It would be worked around.
Now a Pidgey was a nice, simple, normal pokemon. Not some weird six foot tall lizard. Not some electric horse. A nice, normal, bird. It was only natural that Tau try to find the pidgey swarm he had heard about, then, despite it causing a detour in his plans. But if he could have one normal pokemon on his team, he'd be happy.
With Emem at his side, he started searching around for the swarm. It should be anywhere around here. "Keep your eyes peeled, Emem." Tau said, reminding the Blitzle to search as well. He wasn't going to leave without a pokemon, one way or another. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long to catch one.
His inexperience was quietly showing, as he chose Emem just so he could get a chance to catch a pidgey. While Lizard would just try and body the poor thing as quickly as possible. He didn't realize he was at a type advantage with Emem being an electric type, but he was unlikely to realize as Emem has yet to learn any electric type moves.
"Bli bli!" cried Emem, alerting Tau to the fluttering swarm the finally caught sight of. Some of them were weird colors, but most of them were definitely pidgeys. "Alright Emem, Quick Attack one of 'em." Tau ordered simple, and the eager Blitzle sped off and landed a hit on a large pidgey. Caught off guard, the wild pidgey wailed a bit before retaliating with Gust. While the attack hit, Emem didn't hesitate to hit the wild pokemon with another Quick Attack.
Once the second attack hit, Tau tossed a regular pokeball at the injured pidgey. "Back off now, Em. I wanna see if this works." He ordered as soon as the ball left his hand. The eager blitzle rushed back to Tau's side, eagerly awaiting praise and affection.

Cricket stepped out onto Route 1, straight out of Birch; she'd heard that there was a swarm of Pidgey out here today and wanted to try to catch one, just for the novelty. She was wearing something simple today: A pair of comfortable grey pants, a t-shirt with a graphic image of a Spritzee on it, and a bright blue zip-up hoodie, open in the front at the moment. Her bag held a pair of eggs that she'd taken with her to the ball, but had promptly forgotten about there in her distraction. Her Ponyta walked alongside her, ready for a fight.
"Keep on the lookout! You never know when a Pidgey will appear. They used to be common back home, even Pidgeotto would show up here and there in the wild! I never caught one then, but I think one might be useful out here, yeah? A flying Pokemon usually is! My last flying Pokemon was.. Oh, it was my Crobat! She was fantastic." Cricket got lost in memories as Ponyta stood by, looking alert and keeping an eye out for flying birds.
Gilbert rubbed his arms with his hands as he shivered. Birb hooted, ruffling up her feathers on his shoulder as well. "Cold isn't it Birb?" he laughed as his pokemon chirped in reply. Yet he had heard there was a swarm around here somewhere. He was always interested in new pokemon and he had never caught a pidgey before. He'd seen them sure they were all over the place back at his home region. Yet it had been a long time since he'd been there. Gilbert grinned, the little birds had to be around here somehwere. As he stepped along the forest line with his backpack and Rowlet in tow. He figured it was too cold for Nancy to be out right now.
"Oh look, there!" he exclaimed, pointing towards the tree branches. There was a bunch of pidgeys, some flying about others huddled together in the cold. Poor things. Quickly he pulled out something from his pocket, something that looked similiar to bird seed. Gilbert wondered if this would attract them, normally he fed it to Birb. Yet she seemed pretty preoccupied by staring at the pokemon she might have been facing. Gilbert wasn't sure if he'd send Birb out to battle but if that's what she wanted than there was a possibility of it.
Gilbert looked for a moment closely, there seemed to be a strange pidgey. The bird pokemon was pure black! Other than a few gray accents onto its feathers. It looked at him curiously, as Birb then narrowed her eyes she raised her winds. "Wait Birb are you sure?" Gilbert asked, but the Rowlet already was flying in the air. "Hit him with a growl then to start" Gilbert said to her. Birb growled, hitting the black pidgey head on with the attack. He looked startled turning towards Birb and narrowing his own eyes. If it was a challenge she wanted than that was what she was getting. Flying up the others scattered with a loud screech, the wild pidgey hit Birb with a tackle as she was forced backwards in the air.
"Alright now use Leafage!" he ordered as Birb nodded her head to her trainer. She quickly spun in the air, the leaves falling from her feathers and hitting the Pidgey. Causing him to roll backwards, he cawed in anger before moving forward with a Quick Attack. Birb was hit hard, scrambling in the air to keep herself afloat. "Watch out for the next attack, use tackle on him and let me handle the rest!" Gilbert called as she moved forward. Slamming her body into the flying bird as Gilbert grabbed for a pokeball out of his pocket. He threw it at the black Pidgey in the air. Watching as the red ball sucked the pokemon inside. Slamming into the ground as the red glow began and it shook back and forth. Birb landed, trying to catch her breath as the two of them waited to see what the verdict would be.

Senara didn't have a lot of love for Pidgey. They were simple creatures; cute, sure, but not especially powerful until they evolved. But she was apparently amassing an army of Flying type pokemon so why go against the laws of the universe and not try to catch at least one? With her Emolga, Joujou, on her head and Baby Girl peeking out from the zipper of her coat she made her way through the grasslands of route one, the late-noon sky growing dark already. If nothing else, at least it might be able to fly her around when it grew up, as opposed to Crepe, Joujou, or Libellule. Why couldn't Mantine learn to fly, anyway? They were totally big enough to take off if they wanted to. Especially Crepe.
She was getting off-track. Pidgey. She was here to find a Pidgey.
"See anything, Joujou?" She glanced upwards at the little Emolga on her head. Joujou chirped and shook her head. Hopefully the Pidgey would be low enough level for her to fight on her own, since she was still so little. But Electric had advantage. She'd be fine.
The sound of rustling feathers turned her head toward the wind, and for just a second Senara's heart leaped into her chest. Was that a Murkrow? She started to sneak closer to try and get a better look, but once she could clearly see it her hopes were dashed.
No, no, alas. It was just a Pidgey...but she'd never seen a Pidgey with this kind of dark coloring before. Were these native to the Arciel region? How interesting! What made their feathers so dark? Were they more nocturnal than normal Pidgey? Was it a cross-breed with a Murkrow? She had a dozen questions but she wasn't professor. Her realm of extra knowledge lay with rocks, not living creatures. "Joujou," she whispered, and raised her hand for the tiny Emolga to slip into, "Take careful aim while it hasn't noticed us, and use Thundershock. Then Baby Girl? Frappez-le avec une attaque de feinte."
Joujou puffed out her chest, beaming from cheek to yellow cheek, and drew in the energy inside her into a single blast of electricity directed at the black-feathered bird. The Pidgey let out an indignant SQUAWK of surprise and pain and turned sharply toward them, but not before it found its face taken up by Baby Girl's claws dragging down over its beak. It couldn't avoid the strike even with what little warning it had.
Senara laughed aloud. "Another Thundershock! Keep going until it's paralyzed!"
Joujou drew in another breath and exhaled another blast of lightning. Twice, thrice--
Then the poor little infant dropped over, too exhausted to try again. Senara sighed and tucked her into her purse. "Alright, good try, even if you didn't stun it. Let's see if this will do." She withdrew another pokeball from her pack--a Luxury ball, she wanted to see this unique bird up-close!--and threw it toward the ongoing fray.

"That's a weird Pidgey.." Cricket had spotted one sitting on a branch, preening its wings with its beak. It was black as night and almost the size of a Pidgeotto, but it was definitely a Pidgey! "Well, it's what we came here for anyway! What do you think, Ponyta?"
The horse Pokemon gave a whinny, nodding her head to confirm that yes, that was definitely a Pidgey. Cricket gave the Ponyta a playful shove, and the horse knocked Cricket with her head affectionately.
"Well, let's see if it wants to fight! Hey! Hey Pidgey!" Cricket cried out, cupping their hands over their mouth to sound louder. The wild bird Pokemon glanced up from its preening, giving a deep chirp in return. "Hey! You wanna fight us?"
The Pidgey crowed and dove down to the ground, evidently answering yes, he would like to fight, thank you very much. He was the guest, so he decided to go first with a Tackle attack. Ponyta withstood that, responding with her own Tackle, which was followed up by a Tackle from the Pidgey.
"Try an Ember!" crowed Cricket, and Ponyta tried an Ember. The Pidgey was looking weak enough to capture, so Cricket threw a ball, calling out, "Please come home with us! It'll be fun!"
