Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
It was one of those days. Lynnette had been searching all day for that one special Pokemon that she'd wanted. It was a psychic type. Not a particularly popular one, but one that she'd always admired. It wasn't until she'd seen Elliot's Pokemon, Echo, in a fight, that she realised how much she'd wanted one on her team, though.
Psychic types were powerful, well-respected and tricky. Everything Lynn liked in a Pokemon.
So on Route 2, she waded through grasses and delved into alleyways searching for it. She'd then gotten into a battle with another trainer, a native to Arciel, who suggested that she visited the Green Den. It was apparently a location nestled deep within Route 2 where Solosis tended to gather.
She arrived in the copse of trees to find... nothing. Sure, bird Pokemon called from the trees and Rattata scurried between bushes, but there wasn't a Solosis to be seen. Lynn sighed and leaned against a nearby tree tiredly. This was probably all a waste of time...
Wolfram appeared in the branches above her and cooed to get her attention. She turned her head upwards.
"Huh, found something?" She asked him.
The Rookidee twisted his head and nodded, then took off. Lynn leapt into a jog after him, her footsteps crunched against the copse's leaf litter as she did. She was then lead into a hidden grove and she gasped in surprise at what she found.
Eggshells littered the ground, and in the epicentre was an untouched, perfectly formed egg.
"A hatchery?" She guessed, a little unsure of how Pokemon behaved in the wild. Wolfram landed on the egg and appeared equally as confused. Cautiously, Lynn approached the egg, then crouched down to inspect it. When she touched the surface of the green, bubbling one shell, she frowned.
"Cold," she remarked. "This egg hasn't been incubated by anyone." That was what Pokemon were supposed to do, wasn't it?
Still. Lynn had done her research. The green egg was definitely a Solosis egg. She didn't want to be a thief though, so instead of taking the egg away, she hung around in the grove, waiting, listening, for any sign of its parent or guardian to come by. Of course, if that did happen, she'd run like her ass was on fire, but it never did.
The entire time, Wolfram sat on the egg, keeping it warm in a way. Pokemon eggs didn't hatch if they weren't kept warm enough.
After enough time had passed, Lynn shrugged. At least it wasn't a certain other kind of egg, she figured. So she hopped back over to the green little egg and held it in her arms. She paused for a second, wondering if its parent would suddenly materialise out of thin air to blast her into the heavens for stealing, but nothing ever did happen.
This place was supposed to be full of Solosis, but I haven't seen any except for this egg, Lynn realised. It was spooky. Not wanting to hang about for any longer, she crept away from the copse of trees and back into the open air of Route 2. Still, she couldn't help but grin. A Solosis egg! This was her chance to raise a new Pokemon!
Her stomach grumbled.
But first, I think I might like to have some dinner, she realised. Finding a clearing amongst the grasses, next to one of the route's estuaries, Lynn dropped off her bag, set aside the Solosis egg next to it, and started to take out the camping equipment. A lighter, some pans and bowls, some packets of instant curry sachets and a few cheap vegetable and meat ingredients wrapped in protective packaging came pouring out.
At the same time, she released her Pokemon from their balls. Webs and Tsunami appeared in a flash of light. At first, they appeared curious at the new egg Lynn had set aside on the floor and inquired so.
"Found it in the forest," she said. "It was abandoned, I think, so say hello to the fourth member of the team!" She chimed in cheery tones. Webs approached the egg first and patted it happily, then stared, captivated, at the bubbles that sloshed around inside. Tsunami chattered something unintelligible, but seemed happy about this development either way.
She then noticed the packet of sausages that Lynn had laid out on the floor, ran over to them and clutched them happily as her stomach grumbled too.
"Oh, so we're cooking sausages today, Tsu?" Lynn said with a raised brow.
Wolfram gave a non-plussed chirp and Webs gazed curiously at the package. "I guess that's what we'll have then! Sausage curry!"
It took around 10 minutes for Lynn, plus her Pokemon, to find enough wood bits to make a fire, but once they did, Lynn managed to easily get it going with a flick of her lighter. "Fire... FIRE!" She said dramatically, more for her Pokemon's amusement than her own. She then set up the equipment so that she had a pot hanging over the fire, just like the trainers of Galar would in a wild area.
One bottle of water, sachet of curry powder and a packet of sausages later (plus some chopped root vegetables), a great smelling curry was bubbling away. Wolfram watched curiously as Lynn stirred the pot. Seldom did he ever see her cook, but she was competent enough to follow the instructions on a packet.
After a few more minutes, she added some salt, stirred the pot again and spooned out portions into three separate bowls for all the present Pokemon. Tsunami cried out happily while Webs stood as close as possible to Lynn as she dished out dinner, drooling ever so slightly at the sight.
Wolfram simply flew to the top of her head and watched keenly at his bowl, the red one, as it filled with the mixture of sauce, meat and veggies. Like most Pokemon of his kind, he was particularly fond of meat.
Lynn laughed at her Pokemon's antics. "Be careful guys, it's still hot!"
She set down the bowls onto the ground and dished herself the rest of the pot's contents, eating with a spoon as she watched her Pokemon munch happily. Of course, there were always PokeBlocks and Pokemon food, but she much preferred to share the same food she ate with her Pokemon.
"Came out pretty well, didn't it?" She said happily. She wasn't really an expert cook, so this was a success in her book!

For cooking with her Pokemon, Lynn would like to add +1 to her Cooking skill!
Last Edit: May 9, 2020 4:25:55 GMT by Lynnette Aria: updated formatting
It was while Lynn was eating, enjoying the way texture and flavour of a home-cooked (journey cooked?) meal when she realised it.
The bowl that was in her hand was suddenly not in her hand. No! NO! HER FOOD HAD DISAPPEARED. How... How could this happen? How was it possible for a bowl of curry to vanish? Lynn's eyes flitted between her Pokemon, who were utterly unaware of her plight as they ate. Now she was just sat here with a spoon and no food to eat it with.
Before Lynn had a chance to drop to her knees in despair, she glanced the culprit. Cloaked in darkness with gleaming red eyes, she shot Lynn a sly grin. For what was underneath her paws, a mere yard away, was Lynn's bowl of curry. Rubbing salt in the wound, the Umbreon leant down and lapped at the sauce.
"Hey!" Lynn shouted. "That's not your curry!" She leapt to her feet and started forward. A star materialised above the Umbreon and impacted the earth in front of Lynn, stopping her right in her tracks. She yelped and hopped backwards. Arceus, how many times would she have to narrowly dodge Pokemon attacks during this adventure!?
Apparently, this was enough to get Wolfram, Tsunami and Webs' attention. All three Pokemon looked up to see Lynn dancing between falling stars. Or rather, barely dodging a barrage of Swifts as a mischievous Umbreon grinned at her plight.
Webs immediately ran to the unprotected Solosis egg, though whether he thought it was actually in danger or he just wanted nothing to do with this mess was arguable.
Wolfram took wing and was at Lynn's side in a flash, chirping lowly and ready to take on the Umbreon. Tsunami likewise did the same, only to end up in the barrage-zone of Umbreon's Swift and jumping sideways just to stay out of the fire.
"Hone Claws! Loop round and Peck!" She yelled above the sound of impacting dirt and Tsunami's panicked screaming.
A few seconds later, and Wolfram's talons and beak glowed, lengthening, becoming shinier, sharper, deadlier. He then shot towards Umbreon and struck her from behind. Surprised, Umbreon stopped with her Swift barrage and turned to engage the little pest. She watched Wolfram fly overhead, then chuckled lowly.
A growl ripped out from the Umbreon's throat and Wolfram could quite literally feel, and see, the accompanying pulse of darkness. It hit him, sending him flying backwards and forced to correct course. These few seconds of faltering were all the Umbreon needed to shoot another well-placed star towards the bird.
"Wolfie!" Lynn called out. Instinctively, he tucked his wings and dropped again, allowing the star to fly overhead harmlessly.
He then regained height, allowing Lynn to continue the fight with him. The Umbreon was incredibly tricky, soon learning all of Lynn's tricks and tactics, and coming up with her own in order to counter them for a fight that Lynn, in a situation that would've left her slightly less hungry, would've described as thrilling.
The Umbreon was clearly experienced, enjoying the fight just as much as Lynn ordinarily would. It wouldn't have been far-fetched to theorise that this particular Pokemon thieved for the thrill of it, rather than necessity.
Lynn waited for a lull during the heated battle, when both Wolfram and Umbreon were equally scratched up, with perhaps the little bird a little worse for wear, when she threw her best PokeBall at the Pokemon. In all honesty, she didn't know if she could force this fight into a win without Wolfram going down otherwise.

Lynn throws a Nest Ball at this gorgeous Umbreon in an attempt to catch it! (+ trainer battle bonus)
Last Edit: May 9, 2020 4:28:39 GMT by Lynnette Aria: updated formatting
The Nest Ball had completed its signature three shakes and clamped close on the rowdy Umbreon.
Lynn waited for a few more seconds. Then it actually sunk in. "Holy crap, I caught an Umbreon!" Lynn jogged up to Wolfram who was pecking at the ball curiously and gently, almost trembling, she picked it up.
"My first fully evolved Pokemon," she realised. Then she noticed the rest of her dinner. It, including the bowl it'd been inside, had been obliterated into tiny shards and scattered across the grass in droplets.
"But was it worth the cost?"
Wolfram shook his head and chirped. Then, he flew into a nearby tree, picked a berry off it and delivered it into Lynn's hands as if it were a consolation prize. "Uh, thanks," she said flatly. As much as she wanted to be happy about this, half of her dinner was gone. Lost to the winds.
She trundled back towards the camp where Webs and Tsunami had waited out the results of the fight. The egg was fine. Their dinners were fine. Still feeling upset, Lynn released the Umbreon back out from her PokeBall.
It cried out happily as it reformed in a burst of light right in front of her.
"You took my dinner," Lynn said accusingly. "Nobody takes me dinner, you got it?"
Her plans for scolding the Umbreon went amiss, however, as she spied the Solosis egg. Seeming shocked, she ran towards it and sniffed it curiously, then turned to Lynn. In that moment, Lynn's anger was forgotten.
"Wait... was that your egg Umbreon? Were you protecting it?"
The Umbreon shook her head. The answer seemed to be a no. Either way, she laid down against it protectively and growled playfully when Webs went to approach it.
"Huh, you planning to be a guardian to it then or something?" Lynn said, realising how unusual the entire situation was. Finding a single Solosis egg, meeting an Umbreon who seemed surprised she had it and also wanted to protect it. It was the weirdest mystery. If only she could understand Pokemon, or she had some sort of translator at hand.
Instead, she sighed and sat down next to her bag, dug into it, and brought out a packet of crisps. At least they'd never fail her. She mused while she ate. An Umbreon was now on her team. It needed a name.
It was funny though. Elliot had an Espeon, and now Lynn had an Umbreon. What'd it been called? Lord Beerus? She snorted.
"Maybe I should call you... Lady Gaga?"
The Umbreon glared at her.
Lynn laughed. "Alright, something to do with stars... Since you seemed so eager to hit me with them. Starlight? How's that sound? Or maybe something more aggressive... Starstruck... Starburst... Eh, I'll go with Starburst. I'm hungry enough."
Once Lynn finished eating her snacks and offering some PokeBlocks to Starburst, she packed up the cooking equipment and prepared to continue her journey to Bass City.
"Ah, Wolfram, I suppose you'd rather be left outside, wouldn't you," Lynn remembered. It wasn't even a question. "What about you Webs, Tsu, Star? Wanna walk alongside?"
Webs shook his head tiredly and Tsunami followed suit, likely because they'd just eaten. Starburst remained dead set on staying outside of her PokeBall though, and nodded in determination. To be honest, the Umbreon confused Lynn a little. It felt as if Lynn would've had much more trouble with her if she didn't have the Solosis egg with her, for whatever reason that might be.
Either way, she started the walk down Route 2 towards Bass City. It was quite a scenic route. Rolling hills, long grasses, patches of sub-urban sprawl and scattered rivers made it a nice sight. Too bad it was so foggy that Lynn couldn't see any of this.
Instead, she could barely see a few feet in front of her. So imagine her surprise when a Skitty zoomed out of the mist and collided right into Lynn's chest, sending her onto her backside.
"Bloody hell!"
She put her hands around the Skitty to hold it back as it tried to glomp her. Just when she thought she had it under control, another Skitty appeared out of the mist and joined its brother on top of Lynn. Then another, and another, and another -
Lynn was drowning in Skitty. For some, this might've been a dream. For Lynn, it was about to become just another day of being a Pokemon Trainer.
"What's got you all so attached?" She asked once she managed to clear the Skitty attached to her face.
Then she saw it. Marching out of the fog. A very large, very cross-looking Bidoof, accompanied on either side by its lackeys. "Oh sh -"
Had she just been caught in some kind of Bidoof - Skitty turf war?
Whatever it was, Starburst immediately burst into action. A torrent of stars materialised above the Bidoof and shot down at all three of them. She didn't look all that concerned though - rather, the Umbreon seemed to be enjoying herself.
"Wolfie! Aim for the leader!" She said. This would be one of those times where having multiple Pokemon out at the same time was going to be useful. Even if one of them wasn't actually doing what Lynn was telling her.
Still, a fight broke out between Wolfram, Starburst and the Bidoof gang. All the meanwhile, the Skitty horde cowered besides Lynn, smothering her and meowing encouragement as she directed her Pokemon.
Halfway through the fight, Wolfram switched from targeting the leader to targeting the lackeys and Lynn noticed that Bidoof was holding something interesting.
"What is that?" She asked herself, confused. "Star, do you think you could pull the same trick on Bidoof that you did with me? I'd like to see what it is."
Was she really about to do this? Was Lynn really about to mess with another horde after last time?
Yes. The answer was yes.
After all, what harm could taking a Bidoof Boss' apricorn really do? This wasn't like angering an entire family of uber-powerful Slowbros/Slowpokes.

Starburst took one look at the boss Bidoof, tilted her head and grunted something at Wolfram. The little Rookidee appeared to understand her, as he then went into a full nose-dive at the Boss Bidoof. However, nothing he could do could get the angry Sinnoh native to lower his guard.
"Damn, he's really attached to that thing," Lynn remarked. "Just makes me want it even more. Alright, don't hold back, Wolfie!"
"Star, weaken the lackeys and the boss for me though, can you? Leave them alive for us, though." She smirked. "Because it's time to power-level."
Oh yes. Lynn knew that defeating Pokemon was what ultimately allowed them to gain raw power. It was even there in Rookidee's PokeDex entry. And she and Wolfram needed to get stronger. Not just for herself, as she'd discovered in the Misadventure of Route 1, but for her friends as well.
If she was going to be making friends here in Arciel, she needed to be strong enough for them to be able to depend on her to get them out of trouble as easily as she could get them into it.
The Umbreon looked up at Lynn, appeared confused for a second, but didn't disobey. She enjoyed the chase, after all, not winning or losing. Giving opponents the slip - that's what Starburst lived for, though Lynn hadn't quite figured it out yet.
Lynn was starting to realise this slowly, though, especially considering the way the Umbreon's eyes glinted with mischief. Around ten minutes of wearing down the Bidoof later, the Umbreon was panting excessively, and Lynn called her back.
It was time. Wolfram vs three Bidoof.
Lynn turned to him and grinned. "Go get 'em, Wolfie."
The Rookidee shot down from the sky and slammed straight into the Boss Bidoof. It was definitely still mad about Wolfram trying to steal its apricorn, and they instantly entered a heated battle of that consisted of skirmish-like tactics vs pure hard-hitting action.
While Lynn was directing Wolfram and likewise encouraging him, her phone vibrated in her pocket.
She debated leaving it alone, but having a feeling that it might be important (she didn't have too many contacts in Arciel, after all,) she sneaked a peek at the sent message.
Elliot Sunderland: Guess where I'm going
This was unusual. After looking up to keep an eye on Wolfram's fight and a word of encouragement, she quickly texted her reply.
Lynnette Aria: Where
A second later, an image of the inside of Bass City's gym greeted her on her phone's screen.
Elliot Sunderland:
No... No! Elliot was going to challenge the Bass City Gym!? "I was about to do that!" Lynn whined. Damn, she might've suggested it, but she had no idea that Elliot was going to actually go and do it though. Furious, yet at the same time, strangely pumped, she went to call him.
A few rings later, and the iconic mild-yet-energetic teenage boy picked up. Lynn didn't give him a second to get a word in, though. "Elliot! Why didn't you tell me you were going to challenge the Gym!? I thought you said you weren't much of a battler? 'Cos I would've totally offered to help you train and I'd have come to see your ar - "
Lynn's words were muffled both through the receiver and in real life as Wolfie entered a deathly roll of teeth, claws, and screaming with the boss Bidoof. Yes, he was going head to toe with a Pokemon Mafia Boss.
"Anyway, I knew you had a fighting spirit somewhere in you," she said proudly. Yes, in a way, she was proud of Elliot. He was her first ever friend in Arciel.
Elliot finally had a chance to speak and his own voice came through Lynn's tinny phone speakers. "What can I say? Meeting you made me figure I should at least give it a shot," he said in his usual tone.
Bidoof was loudly slammed into a tree trunk, followed by Wolfie diving after him and an explosion of splinters.
Lynn glanced up from her phone to give Wolfie the thumbs-up. "That's great!" She said. If it wasn't obvious, she was definitely a bit distracted at the moment, otherwise she might've had a bit more sass for him. "I'm a bit busy right now but good luck! You better tell me everything that happens! Even if you get your sorry arse kicked! But you better not 'cos I still need to battle you!"
Yes! She didn't need Elliot losing that fire! She still needed to fight him herself - her Pokemon just had to catch-up with Elliot's first.
And Wolfie was doing one dang good job at trying - explosion after explosion rang out in the distance as he tussled with all three Bidoof at once.
"Y . . . you okay over there? Pretty sure I hear stuff exploding," Elliot's voice interrupted as Lynn shouted another command at Wolfie that had something to do with 'kicking that rodent's arse right back to Sinnoh'.
"Oh yeah, I might've pissed off a group of Bidoof that were in a turf war with a horde of Skitty! It's all good this time though! Wolfie's got them!"
". . . How am I not surprised . . . "
Lynn waggled her eyebrows, not that Elliot could see this. "Oh ~ I'm full of surprises ~" She practically flirted over the phone. A Skitty meowed curiously afterwards and tried to bat the device out of Lynn's hand, but she pulled it out of read.
She yelled another command and note of encouragement at Wolfie.
"I mean, I'd say you're not. But you did kinda get me good with the model thing," Elliot admitted.
Lynn laughed and the Skitty jumped up at her phone again, trying to bat at it playfully. "As much as I'm loving this, I kinda need to go! This Skitty keeps -"
The Skitty finally succeeded in batting Lynn's phone out of her hands and sent it flying into a field. Lynn cried out in surprise and, after checking on Wolfie again, ran over to fetch it. Thankfully, it wasn't damaged.
When she came back, the sight of three fainted Bidoof beneath a panting triumphant Rookidee met Lynn.
Her jaw dropped in pride and happiness. "Damn, you're good, Wolfie," she admitted. "Here I am, a girl distracted by her phone, and you didn't even need me."
Wolfram simply chirped, tiredly but elatedly. Lynn had trained him, after all. "Oh! I still need to see what that item was," she said.
Before she could, though, the horde of waiting Skitty immediately beset her and the item. Wolfie, still on the ball however, took the apricorn and flew up into a tree, ready to return it to Lynn when she was done dealing with the Skitty.
Reminded of Elliot, Lynn pulled the male Skitty off from her face and knelt down next to him. "Huh, you want to be friends, then?" She asked him curiously. "If that's the case, then let's one versus one. Tsu, I'm choosing you!"
Lynn called out the Oshawott, who appeared in front of the Skitty. Curious, the female Skitty gathered around the two combatants to-be. Lynn, for once in her life, had actually managed to determine who was the strongest Pokemon in this instance.
It wasn't long until the fight commenced. Skitty cheered for Skitty. Lynn commanded Tsunami, albeit a little clumsily - she wasn't as familiar with the Oshawott as she was with Wolfram.
The male Skitty was clearly experienced. Still, Tsunami had managed to get a few lucky Water Guns in, managing to mostly avoid the Skitty's own attacks.
That was, until the Skitty used an attack Lynn had heard about, but never seen being moved. He moved in a cheeky, flirtatious manner, but instantly, Tsunami was smitten. She wouldn't listen to a thing that Lynn'd say.
"Aw crap," she said. Skitty was somewhat weakened. "I suppose it's now or never!"
With that, Lynn threw a PokeBall at the horde's most powerful Skitty.

"Hell yeah! I caught a Skitty!" Lynn cheered as the ball clicked shut. She was on a roll!
During the fight, she'd taken out her PokeDex and noticed that it had some pretty sweet moves that could help her with catching more mons.
The other Skitty stared dumbly as one of their strongest members got eaten by a PokeBall and picked up by this mysterious new trainer. "Uh... I guess that's it girls, shows over," she shrugged. The Skitty meowed, but one tugged on Lynn's leg.
Lynn laughed. "Nah, that's enough for now. I've seriously got to get going before it gets dark you know," she said. And she did. She didn't have time to hang around on Route 2 all day playing with Skitty, as adorable as they were.
She glanced about, spotting no one. Or maybe just for a few minutes, she decided, and reached into her bag for Wolfram's feather toy. The Skitty and her own Pokemon immediately locked onto it. Smiling, Lynn waved the toy in front of the Pokemon as they batted at it and chased it through the air.
Maybe she did spend a few precious minutes playing with a horde of Skitty. So what if she did?
Afterwards, it wasn't long until Lynn was walking down Route 2 with her Pokemon once again. After the Bidoof attack, they seemed eager to walk alongside Lynn, and she didn't mind the extra company. There was something fun about having a small gathering of Pokemon following alongside her.
On the main road of Route 1, Lynn saw something curious. She was walking through another section of neighbourhood when she saw it. A man with a stand, three cups and a golf ball. He made eye contact with Lynn and she gave him a smile in return.
"Hello there!" He greeted her and beckoned her closer.
She wandered over curiously. "What's the prize?" She asked, cutting straight to the chase.
"Ah, I see you're not a trainer concerned with pleasantries," the man said and waved over the selection of eggs he had on the table. "And it's these Pokemon eggs, of course! Win the game three in a row and you can choose any egg you want!"
Lynn gave the man a wry grin. "Oh, don't worry, I enjoy pleasantries very much," she said sweetly. "And that sounds like something I might be interested in, I guess," she added. She already had an egg, but this could be fun. Maybe it helped that she had no idea what Pokemon she'd end up.
It was also a bit odd that she was suddenly ending up with so many eggs in such a short span of time, but she shrugged it off as an Arciel thing. A trainer had given her and Elliot an egg as a 'reward' just for beating them, after all.
She paid the associated fee, which was 25 Pen, and entered the game. To her surprise, or maybe through sheer determination and a bit of knowledge regarding petty carnival tricks, she was able to keep track of all three rounds of cup swapping that the man pulled, and even he seemed quite impressed.
"Not bad," he said. "Alright then, take your pick of which egg you'd like."
Was it her, or did he sound a little miffed that she'd won the simple game?
"The red and black one," she said. She had no idea what any of the eggs were meant to be. She'd never seen any of them before. So why not? Plus, as much as it gave her anxiety to be taking on the task of raising two Pokemon at the same time, there was the reward of having two loyal team members raised from birth. Or three, technically, considering Wolfram.
A few minutes later, Lynn was walking away from the strange man with another egg. Wasn't she forgetting something?
"Oh! Right! I can only keep six Pokemon," she realised with a face-palm. "Even eggs count. Guess it's good-bye Skitty," she said sadly, taking out her phone and using it to whisk the Pokemon away to a remote PC Box.

"Forty-nine eggs on the wall, take one down, pass it around - hm?"
Lynnette had been walking along, singing to herself quietly (if that could be called singing), when she noticed something. Was it her, or was her back-pack feeling somewhat lighter?
Webs had taken to riding on her shoulder, soooo...
"Pichu! Webs! Don't hold the egg like that, you'll drop it!"
"Pi...."
The Pichu frowned, but refused to let go of the egg. Before Lynn could get another word in, Wolfram started squawking at Webs angrily.
"Guys, stop it," she warned. "I know you don't always see eye-to-eye -"
And boy, could that be true sometimes.
"- but you're going to -"
The egg slipped between Webs' paws and started hurtling towards the ground.
In that instant, light burst from Lynnette's side and Starburst materialised. In a swift movement, she caught the egg on top of her head and glared dourly. Not at Wolfram or Webs, but at Lynn.
"Oh my God! I don't know what I would've done without you." The Umbreon's expression didn't change though. After a minute, Lynn thought she understood the issue. "It's my fault, isn't it?"
The Umbreon nodded. Sighing, Lynn recalled Webs, explained to Wolfram that she needed a few minutes to talk to Starburst, and recalled him too.
Lynn graciously took the saved egg from Starburst's head and sat down on the road. "They haven't been getting along at all since Cedar Town," she admitted. For a minute, she thought back along the time she spent with her new Pokemon in the PokeCentre, when Wolfram had gotten upset at her. "I think it's my fault. Wolfie's a bit jealous of Webs, and Webs doesn't understand why Wolfie doesn't like him."
"They need to at least get along," she said with realisation. There was no 'team' if said team was at each other's throats. "Star, when we get to Bass City, I think I might need your help with coming up with some kind of team-building exercise. I think right now, that's going to be just as important as training against wild Pokemon."
"Rogue?"
As if on cue, a curious purple face butted itself into Lynn's vision. A Tyrogue!
"Umbra!" Starburst greeted the new Pokemon happily, then started conversing with it.
"Guess you know the Pokemon around these parts, huh," Lynn said. She looked back down at the egg that she was holding - the Solosis egg and the gorgeous green bubbles that formed throughout it. Both Pokemon looked at it together, confused.
Lynn frowned. It was far warmer in her hands than it'd been before. She shrugged and put it back into her bag alongside the other egg.
"Hey Tyrogue," said Lynn. "Would you want to train against my Pichu? He's the weakest on my team at the moment, so he could honestly use it." On the bright side, Webs was also the only one with a ranged attack.
The Tyrogue nodded and Lynn sent out Webs. A few seconds later, Wolfram escaped from his PokeBall too, only to see Webs, huff and look away. Lynn did her best to ignore the petty behaviour and sent Webs forwards.
"Thundershock!"
Webs lit up like a firework and an explosion of electricity burst forwards, frying the Tyrogue and almost hitting Lynn too. Tyrogue was tough though and it barely phased him. "Watch out!" Lynn cried as she saw the Tyrogue go for a counter-attack.
It was a tackle, but Webs leapt out of the way and used the opportunity to zap Tyrogue with another uncontrollable burst of electricity. At one point, the Tyrogue managed to hit Webs with his Tackle, sending him flying across the field and hurting him pretty bad.
Lynn took the opportunity to call Webs back and let Starburst in to help weaken the Tyrogue for a bit. The Umbreon was more than happy to spar for a bit, and afterwards, when Webs had rested up some more, Lynn sent him back into the battle to finish up the 'training session'.
Eventually, the Tyrogue fainted with a happy smile on its face, and Webs collapsed forwards, exhausted but still conscious.
"Damn, that was tough, but you did awesome Webs!" Lynn praised, forgetting that Wolfram had been watching. She looked at them both. "You're both awesome, you know? Let's take a breather," she said and took out some food for both Pokemon to nibble on.
They weren't potions or berries to help them heal, but it was a nice reward nonetheless.
When the Tyrogue eventually woke up again, Lynn gave him a share of food too as thanks for letting her Pokemon train against him before he left. It was only fair as she'd used Starburst to wear him down in the name of grinding.
After all, if it meant catching up to Elliot, it was worth it. Just looking at Wolfram told her that he already looked stronger since she'd set off on this journey.
Maybe he'd even evolve soon?
"Hey Wolfie, what would you think of evolving, huh?"
The Rookidee looked up from his snack and chirped happily. "Dee!"
"Yeah, it'll be cool. But I guess it'd be a bit weird too. Not in a bad way though. I've always wanted to see what you'd look like as a Corvisquire or a Corviknight."
Lynn suddenly remembered something important. With all the egg business and battling business, she'd completely forgotten until now.
"Huh, I wonder how Elliot's doing in his Gym challenge? Shoot, do you guys think we could be able to make it to the Gym in time to cheer him on if we hurry?"
That was a point. By now, Elliot might not have begun the battle yet. So there was time! Maybe.

With that, Lynn readjusted her bag, recalled Webs and Starburst and set off once again down Route 2. She had places to be, Elliots to catch-up to, and maybe a few more wild Pokemon to fight on the side.
This wasn't just an adventure down Route 2. This was a training opportunity.
Lynn broke into a jog and started hurrying her way down Route 2. By now, she was sure she could see the outline of Bass City. Maybe soon, she'd even see the ocean crest against the horizon again in its endless glittering glory.
That was, if it wasn't so damn foggy!
Visibility was so bad that Lynn actually almost stumbled onto a herd of Stantler in the middle of the field.
Realising that she was about to make a terrible mistake, she stopped herself short of spooking the entire herd. She breathed a sigh of relief as the the deer Pokemon wandered the misty plains of Route 2. The thought of spooking them into running away crossed her mind, but she squashed that thought.
That would've resulted in a situation way too similar to the other time. And there was no way she was doing that again.
"Guess we're taking a breather," she said, acquiescing. If there was one thing she learned from her time with Elliot, it was that taking a well-timed break could save a lot of trouble down the road.
It was while she was taking out a bag of chocolates to nibble on when a Stantler strayed from the herd and started butting her arm. It was being friendly. A little bit too friendly, for Lynn's liking. She raised a brow at it.
"Hey, I'm not done power-levelling yet today, so unless you want me to sic an Umbreon on you and let Pichu finish you off, please leave me alone," she said.
The Stantler then stuck its snout into Lynn's bag of chocolates and spilled them all over the floor.
Her hands flew into the air in exasperation. "Again! Pokemon stealing my food from me!"
"Alright, you asked for it!"
Lynn reached down for Star's PokeBall and released the Umbreon once again. Grinning, the Umbreon cried out valiantly, ready to wear down her next opponent. "Two thieves against each other! Let's go!"
The other Stantler moved out of the way as the battle commenced. A flurry of stars smashed into Stantler's side and the Stantler reacted by charging Umbreon at speed that Lynn had never seen before.
"Astonish?" She wondered. It'd shocked Starburst enough to leave her open for a nasty stomp attack. She shook her head and tried to recover from it, though. A ghost-type move just wasn't that effective against the dark-type, though the normal-type move had hurt.
The battle carried on, the Umbreon wearing down Stantler gradually with every hit of her Swift. When it looked like the Stantler was weakening, it changed tactics. It turned its horns towards Starburst and Lynn, and she suddenly felt herself feeling so tired...
No! It was using hypnosis!
Realising this, she quickly released Webs from his PokeBall.
"Finish... off... Stantler!" She managed as she started to feel herself drifting off. The Pichu nodded, and the last thing Lynn saw before she collapsed onto the grass was a burst of light and Stantler falling to the ground.
"Level... up..." she muttered in her sleep. "Get... strong... er..."

Arceus knew how much time had passed once Lynnette woke up again. When she opened her eyes, everything was blurry. She could see green and black colours blending into each other. Grass and her Umbreon?
She pulled herself up into a sitting position and saw the blurry outline of what looked to be her glasses. It was when she picked them up and placed them back onto her nose that she discovered what the blurry shapes had been.
A Solosis was hovering in front of Lynn, and a Houndour was pawing happily at her feet. The Solosis was perfect orb of liquid green, whereas the Houndour's eyes shined with innocence as it gazed at Lynn. She frowned, still feeling groggy and confused.
"Huh? Where did you two come from?"
Strange. Her bag was empty. The eggs were now just eggshells. Which meant...
An anguished cry rang out in Route 2 that day.
"I missed the hatching of my own team!" Lynn cried. Either way, the Solosis chimed happily at seeing Lynn so excited, then proceeded to launch itself onto Lynn's face and drowning her in cytoplasm.
"Gt-it-fff!"
Her hand reached up to try and pry the green blorb off from her face, but it stayed tight. It wasn't until Houndour started barking at Solosis that it let go.
Lynn coughed for breath. It seemed that whatever sort of fluid surrounded Solosis, it tended to stay with the Solosis. "Well," she rasped. "That's one way to introduce yourself."
Still. Lynn smiled at the two new faces. She took a breath, ready to say the usual 'welcome to the team.' Except... no. This wasn't just a simple welcome to the team. This was bigger. This was better. This meant something. She took a moment to compose herself.
"Welcome to the world," she said. "It's a big place, isn't it?"
It was really starting to hit her this time. She was bringing two brand new Pokemon - two brand new lives -into this world. Out here, on Route 2, all by herself. She was one of the first living things either of them had ever seen.
Lynn crouched down and let the baby Houndour sniff her hands as she thought back. Her journey had started days ago, but now it felt like it'd truly started. Like two new souls had joined in for the ride and they'd be in it together.
From now until the end.
Lynn grinned. "Yeah... you two little pests are now my responsibility, you hear? And I'm going to look after you and make you great, whether you like it or not! Cause today, in the mists of Route 2, something great has happened."
She stood back up. "Yeah. You've joined the team. Both of you."
"Even if neither of you understood a word I've said," she said, smiling.
Wolfram, who'd been sat beside Lynn dutifully, chirped. He too, nodded. These two new Pokemon would make for adequate company.
Lynn laughed once she realised something. "Ha. Elliot might've hatched one Pokemon, but now I've got two! Already catching up ~ "
"Hmm... maybe something that fits with the team? Wolfram, Webs, Tsunami, Starburst... it's gotta be something threatening." Curious, Lynn took out her PokeDex and scanned the two infants. The Solosis was female, Houndour male.
"Right then. A reversal. Alpha and Feldspar."
She nodded to herself. Yeah. She always liked those names.
"And you'll be... huh?"
A third Pokemon was now standing in line next to Alpha and Feldspar. It was so small that Lynn hadn't even seen it. How long had it been there?
It chittered meekly. "Wiiiimp ~"
That was all it needed to do. Lynn burst out laughing. "Oh Arceus," she said. "It's Elliot in Pokemon form!"
She grinned as she reached for a PokeBall. She had to catch it. This was priceless.
Within the next second, Webs was called out from his PokeBall and Lynn was directing him into battle. "Uh, go easy on him, okay? Just a teensy tiny little shock. The smallest little shock you've ever done in your life, Pichu!"
She couldn't have it Wimping Out on her, after all.
Pichu walked up to the Wimpod and touched it gently with a paw. A spark flew onto it and the Wimpod screamed in pain.
"Wow. It is a wimp," Lynn noted. "Alright, I guess I'll throw the ball now," she said with a shrug.

Lynnette tries to catch Wimpod with a Nest Ball (+ trainer battle bonus for this wimpy fight)

With a few pitiful clicks of the ball, the Wimpod was caught. Lynn smiled and went to pick it up, followed at her heel by Alpha and Feldspar.
"And that's how we catch a wild Pokemon ~" she chimed happily at another successful encounter.
Curious, she released the capsule and allowed the Wimpod out. Immediately, it squeaked and hid behind Feldspar, who cocked his head curiously at the small bug type. "Hiding behind a baby? Really?" Lynn asked.
Not wanting to scare the Wimpod anymore, she crouched down, softened her expression and started to coo at it.
"Aww, it's alright. Come out, Wimpod ~"
It shook its head, quivering. "C'mon Wimpy, impy ~"
She frowned as it still refused to budge. "What's wrong, mini-Elliot? Come on... Elliot," she continued calling it as a devious grin plastered itself on her face. Slowly, the Wimpod poked its head out from behind Feldspar's body. "Yeah, that's right. Your name's Elliot," she told it, voice still as encouraging as she could manage.
Remembering something that Elliot had taught her, she reached into her bag and pulled out a Pokemon treat, offering it to the Wimpod with an outstretched hand. "Here, Elliot, here ~" She cooed at it gently once again.
Of course, as soon as she took out one treat, all of her other Pokemon wanted some. Smiling, she took out a treat for everyone. When the Wimpod saw the other Pokemon eating, he emerged from behind Feldspar and cautiously nibbled at the treat in Lynn's hand.
"Oh Arceus, it's so tiny," she giggled as the Wimpod brushed against her lap to reach for the treat. Lightly, she moved to stroke its head with a finger. Pre-occupied with the treat, it tolerated the contact.
"Yeah, that's it, Elliot," she said approvingly once it finished the treat. "Am I still so scary? Giving you free food?" She asked it with a playful smile.
The little Wimpod still couldn't help but cower, but it also shook its head 'no'.
"Alright, I'm going to recall you now, so don't panic."
Before it could collapse into another puddle of fear, the Wimpod disappeared in a fizzle of light.
"I think I know the perfect gift for Elliot after the Gym battle," she said, smiling.
With her phone, she sent the Wimpod off to her PC Box. Safe and sound, ready to be gifted as soon as she got to Bass City.
She turned to her team of Pokemon, all of them outside their PokeBalls. "I'm guessing you guys want to walk with me the rest of the way?" She questioned them. "I think actually, it'd probably be safer if you did. Everybody keep an eye on each other, okay?"
