After some grumbling from Greer, the Cubone gave in and sniffed at the air. Ghost-types weren't exactly known for being easy to track, but fire was another story. She led the way to a Litwick, just as her trainer whined about and she pointed at it from a ways away.
"Aw, you do love me!" Maura closed her eyes, emitting a small sigh through her nostrils. "All right, let's..." He suddenly realized that her one damage dealing move was not ideal for their situation. Rhona would have been the better option. Oops...
"Uh, let's battle it! Use Tail Whip to start." The Pokemon nodded and went closer to the wild one to get its attention before using the move she was instructed to. The Litwick retaliated with a Smog attack, which thankfully wasn't very effective and didn't manage to poison her this time around. Following the call to use Iron Head, having the luck to make the Litwick flinch. She would make sure to use this opportunity to use another Iron Head before getting wrapped in a Fire Spin attack.
Greer called out, "Use Tail Whip again, let's try to avoid you getting too hurt!" She would have mentally argued that Growl was a better option in that case, but it seemed like there wasn't much physical attacking from the Litwick so she did as told. A few more back-and-forth attacks with two misses and a dodge on Maura's part and Greer finally felt comfortable enough to throw the Pokeball.
[attr="class","diamondtext"] She was happily walking and watching all of the floating candles. At least, until one bumped into her. She looked at the Litwick and was about to say something when she saw that the Litwick was moving about and practically flailing in a bashful kind of way. A way as if he was trying to say that he was sorry for running into her. Dia chuckled lightly and looked at the Litwick and shook her head. “There is no need to be sorry. Accidents like that happen. Please, calm down, I don’t want you to accidentally harm yourself.” Upon saying that, the Litwick started to calm down slowly and she smiled once more.[break][break]“There you go bug guy. Hey, did you notice that you are quite large for a Litwick? I find that amazing really. Makes you unique, and I like unique. What would you say about joining me?” She grabbed one of her pokeballs from her bag she primes it. “What do you say? Want to join my little family?” She held the pokeball out just under the Litwick, watching as it goes in. Now she just needed it to be caught.
The Pokeball snapped open, and Gabe snorted. Leonardo’s face went from confusion to sadness. He had really failed to convince the Litwick to come with him? The Litwick stared back and offered a tiny smile in apology. Nope, he hadn’t been convinced. Sorry. “Then battle,” Gabe reminded him. The Wartortle looked back irritably.
“Water Pledge,” Gabe ordered. The Wartortle sighed, turned to the Litwick, and seemed to glow with Water power before releasing a spew of water from his mouth. The Litwick cried out as he was hit by the water, but the little flame atop his head only seemed to glow brighter from it.
A mysteriously dark energy spun out from the Litwick, and the Wartortle swayed with confusion. What was… what was that? It was like his head was swimming now. A small tch sound escaped from Gabe as he registered it as confusion. “Stay focused, Bite,” he ordered. The Wartortle tried to step forward and then lunge at the Litwick, but the latter was in the wrong space for that. Instead, there was a tree. A sharp cry escaped from the Wartortle in response. Gabe grimaced even as the Litwick put both hands to his mouth to avoid laughing. A small ‘tch’ sound escaped from Gabe again. “Bite,” he demanded. This time, the Wartortle found the Litwick and managed to do quite a bit of damage again. The Litwick cried out and flinched from the move.
Gabe fished out a Pokeball and tossed it at the Litwick.

[attr="class","christelletext"] Litwick wasn't a poison type, but it would still be useful. So here she was, walking down the route looking out for anything that might catch her eye. She was looking for an injured pokemon, or one that just look like it needed some kind of help. Heck, if one just wanted to come home with her to stay safe, she would happily bring it home with her. Beside her was Cinder, the female salandit just keeping her some company. Christelle looked at the lizard and saw that the red aura that was around her seemed to be glimmering with some green hues. The salandit was happy to be out on this hunt, and that made Christelle happy.[break][break]"What do you say Cinder? Make a new friend today?" She smiled as the poison-fire lizard made a hissing like noise. Together, they walked the route, but Christelle was keeping an eye out for a hurt aura or a distressed pokemon.
As the Pokeball broke free and the Litwick appeared again, Gabe blinked slowly. Damn that was a very strong Pokemon— psychologically and physically. Perhaps it would be an even greater Fire asset than he had already expected it to be. Well, if nothing else, it was solidifying his want of it.
“Water Pledge again,” he ordered of Leo who was fierce now realizing that this opponent was stronger than he had even anticipated. Forming the Water move and sending it shooting at the Litwick again, he managed to cause it to fall from its perch. A cry escaped from the Litwick. Gabe was already moving though, running through the grass to snatch up the unbroken ball and toss it at the Litwick again in hopes of catching it for real this time.
[attr="class","christelletext"] Ah, there was a Litwick that seemed to be wanting a new home. But it was in a serious mood, and well, that wasn't a good thing for them. She really didn't want to fight the Litwick just to be able to catch it. But right now, that seemed like it might be an option. Clearing her mind of those thoughts, she walked over to the Litwick and offered it a smile. "Listen, I know your wanting to be serious right now, so I'm going to offer you a serious offer. I am looking for friends to join my party, and you would fit in with that perfectly. What do you say? You'll never have to worry about being hurt for long, I don't like that after all." She offered a sincere smile as she waited to see what the Litwick was going to decide to do today.

[attr="class","Marius2text"]Marius had heard the rumors of lots of Litwick gathering on this route, and that some of these ghostly candles showed colors that had never been seen before, so of course they were going to see if those rumors were true. They wandered through the grassy hills with one of their hands on Elbert's Pokéball, ready to send their Pichu into battle once they would spot a Litwick. Of course they hoped to see one of those unique colored ones, the ones that apparently were even more unique than the shiny Pokémon phenomenon. "Come on out," they said in a friendly and maybe even playful manner in an attempt to get the attention of any nearby Litwick, if there even were any nearby. It just occured to them that they didn't know which part of Route 6 the Litwick were gathering at, but they hoped there would be at least some of them close to where they were.

[attr="class","Marius2text"]Not too long after they had called out, a Litwick actually appeared. "Oh, it's a normal one, what a bummer..." Marius muttered to themself before letting Elbert out of his Pokéball. "Okay, Elbert, we're going to try and capture this one. Use Thunder Shock." Elbert nodded before he focused himself on the Litwick, and quickly zapped it with a Thunder Shock. The Litwick seemed hurt, but wasn't paralyzed from the looks of it. The Litwick suddenly made a loud noise as she attacked and hit Elbert, surprising him and Marius with the sudden shout. "Thunder Shock, again." They commanded Elbert, who still seemed a bit confused by the sudden shouting of the Litwick. The Pichu tried to land another Thunder Shock hit, and succeeded! "Yes, good." Marius said, though it was more like they were talking to themself than to their Pokémon. The candle Pokémon attacked again, this time by shooting small burning embers from her flame towards Elbert. The Ember attack hit the Pichu, and now both Pokémon in this battle looked pretty hurt. Marius decided this was probably a good moment to throw a Pokéball at the Litwick. They grabbed a Pokéball from their bag and quickly tossed it towards the ghostly candle.

[attr="class","luxray-post"] As she started to venture out on Route 6, she had heard rumors of distant lights bouncing and bobbing through the night. After asking for more detail she eventually found out that litwick were passing nearby. If there was any chance for her to find one, now would be the time. She walks down a path by the grass and lets her eyes dart about in the darkness, trying to see if there was somewhere that was better lit than the others. She did have a flashlight on her, but it was being finicky at the moment. Every now and then the light would flicker off and she would have to bap it with the hardened side of her palm until it powered on once more. She would have to find new batteries for it whenever she got closer to town. As the rain fell over top of her head dripping across the dirt and filling puddles nearby, Ffion tugs her coat around her tighter with a shiver. [break][break] She hoped that any litwick had managed to find shelter nearby. If their biology was anything similar to other fire types that she was aware of, the rain can't feel good for their flame. The thought of what happens when the light goes out still makes Ffion shudder in misery. She was happy that she managed to stuff some extra padding around her egg to make sure that it didn't get chilled and Rym walked by Ffion's side to make sure that she didn't get in over her head. The Pokemon was doing her best to not look frightened, but any snap of a twig or rustling nearby would have her jolting out and snapping into an awkward fighting pose ready to help. It would startle Ffion, but she couldn't help but smile sympathetically at Rym when she realizes that her nerves are on edge. [break][break] It was hard to blame her. There wouldn't be that much that she could do against a ghost type if they did find it, but it was still nice to have Rym there for emotional support. She personally hoped that there might be a chance that she could make a deeper connection with a Pokemon if she did find it rather than resort to battling. She would have to wait and see, however. For now, they had to focus on the task at hand, so Ffion continues to shine her light around while searching in the darkness.

As Ffion continues down the path the mud gives way under her and Rym's feet near a nearby ditch. She squeals out and immediately tries to reach out to catch Rym while she curls in around the Mienfoo and egg to protect them while they slide down the embankment. A big splash is what greets them at the bottom and Ffion blinks while she struggles to try to softly wipe the egg clean. There wouldn't be any cleaning her dress and the brown stains that were on the pastel fabric would only have a hope when she could soak them back at the Pokemon Center. After she gently shushes the egg to ensure that it's calm, she quickly turns to check on Rym, "Rym, are you alright?" She asks her, trying to look her over for any noticeable scrapes or bruising. Rym shakes out her coat bristling it and covering poor Ffion in a new artistic spattering of mud and grim before she squeaks out and gives Ffion a thumbs up. [break][break] Ffion lifts an arm to shield her and the egg from as much of the onslaught as she can before she laughs softly under her breath. "Good, good. Sorry, I'll try to be more careful. The ground is a lot softer than usual.." As she apologizes, she spots a nearby glow of purple light from behind some briers. She puts a finger to her lips and quietly shushes Rym before starting her slow approach. When she pulls the branches out of the way, she spots the Litwick hiding in the burrow shivering in a puddle. The embankment unfortunately sloped right into it making it a lacking shelter for the Pokemon. When the Litwick spots the strange trainer, it tries to puff itself to appear bigger before it shoots some dark clouds of smog out of the entrance. It sends Ffion stumbling back onto her bottom, coughing as she and Rym hit the dirt. It was as she feared, the Pokemon would need some way of getting dry and retaining its heat if it was to make it out here. She looks around for something she can work with and spots some stones that might help. [break][break] Though Rym is growling and looking at the burrow with a determined look, Ffion rests her hand on the Mienfoo's shoulder. "There'll be time to battle later.." She softly whispers, "For now, this Litwick needs our help." Rym looks disappointed but after an uncertain glance at the water flowing into the burrow, she sighs and quickly bobs her head in agreement. "Could you gather some rocks for me while I dig?" Ffion asks of Rym, who squeaks once and salutes her before she runs off to work on the task. Ffion tucks her legs underneath her and begins to work on digging a small ditch for the water to flow into rather than the burrow itself. If she could reroute the water and provide a barrier for the Litwick, then at least its shelter won't end up flooding. When Rym comes back, it's with a large armful of stones of varying sizes that she dumps down in front of Ffion, who's managed to dig deep enough that the entrance to the hole has been spared from the tiny stream of rainwater. "Good job!" She praises Rym and gives her a loving pat on the head. "Now, let's try to stick it out a little longer for them, okay? We just need to stack these so that if the ditch overflows, there's another little barrier.." [break][break] She scoots back and with Rym's help starts to make a small foot-high stone wall that she can work with. She manages to try to fill in the gaps with the excess mud that she piled up digging the ditch in the first place. They scoot back to inspect their work and Ffion couldn't think of much else they could do. She tries to crawl into the burrow again, only to get a warning noise from Litwick as it brightens its flame intensely. "Easy there.." She softly says, slowly taking off her coat to avoid startling the Pokemon with any sudden movements. "We helped fixed your home, but you still can't stay here very long...I'm a nurse." There's a pause before Ffion shyly corrects herself, "Well, a nurse in training. I want to help Pokemon like you. May I see if you're hurt?" The Litwick warily watches Ffion, but bobs a little closer to her after noticing the water isn't as impassable as it was before. Ffion tilts her head and frowns thoughtfully to herself. The flame was a tiny bit smaller than it should be and she couldn't help but notice the way the pokemon shivered. Still, outwardly she couldn't see any scrapes or bruises, so that was a relief. [break][break] Ffion tries to carefully swaddle the Litwick's waxish body with the dry side of her coat; avoiding the flame. "You're cold. Here, this will warm you up some." The Litwick huffed at first but remained after feeling the woolen lining of the trainer's coat. "Are you by yourself out here?" Ffion asks the Litwick, who avoids looking at her and remaining silent. Ffion's lips drift into a frown, but she doesn't let it deter her, "My name is Ffion...this is Rym." She gestures to Rym, who warily squints at the Litwick, eventually waving her paw at him. "And this is our egg.." She tilts her head down to the egg and rests a hand on top of it. "I...had to head out on my own recently too. It's just been us since then. But...it would have been a lot harder on us, if we all had to do it alone." The Litwick grumbles and starts to hop away, inflating itself proudly once again when ffion talks about difficulties. "Not going alone, doesn't make you weaker.." Ffion reasons, "It's only natural...we all crave companionship. And sometimes, there's just some things we can't do by ourselves..." [break][break] She looks down and gets a Pokeball from the side of her egg carrier. She knew how safe it was inside of it. There, the Litwick might be able to warm up and recover until they could get back to the City. "Like I said, this won't make a good permanent shelter...what we've done can only stave off the rain for so long. But, if you'd like, Rym and I can help you find a new one." Litwick glares at the Pokeball at first, and Ffion reassures, "It does not have to be with me if that's not what you want...we could find you a different burrow or tree knot on higher ground. But I would try to take good care of you if you did agree. I think that you're very special and deserve a loving home..." The Litwick eyed her strangely and watches as Ffion sets the Pokeball on the ground between them. She takes a deep breath, "Think about it, please. Either way we should leave soon."
