Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
Swarms close at 11:59pm on the last day of each month. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.
Travelling in the dark might scare some people, especially in terrain as bumpy and full of steep cliffs as the route between Pine Town and Birch Town. For one who spent their time down in the mines and caverns of Arciel, though, being outside in the dark was not much more different than working. It was even nicer because of the fresh air and stars. Senara wasn't worried about the tall shadows or dangerous falls; even with her poor eye-sight she was accustomed to the dark. It was cold but it was pleasant. And she had a little purple imp riding in the front of her jacket, sharing in her warmth along the way.
With a flashlight in hand she approached one of the smoother plots of land along the route and stopped walking, drawing in a slow breath and letting the cool air fill her lungs.
Alright...this should be far enough away.
Senara clicked off the light of her flashlight, plunging the area around her into darkness utterly. Distant hills and the mountains on the horizon became nothing but black outlines against the sky, which was only brighter in comparison than the earth beneath it. At this distance from the cities the sky was absolutely glowing with stars, but it wasn't so bright as to make the surrounding area any easier to see in. Baby Girl's eyes provided a little light, but only about a foot in front of them. Speak of the devil, she started rumbling against Senara's chest, little clawed fingers digging into the poofy purple jacket she was nesting inside. Senara scratched behind her ear. "Shhhh, ça va, petite fille. Je promets de faire de bons amis avec tous ceux que nous trouverons." She cooed softly to her darling Sableye, and in turn Baby Girl tilted her head up to gnaw harmlessly on her hand with pointy little teeth. Senara giggled and lowered her hand to scratch her chin as well.
Now that it was totally dark, it was time to see what "friends" were out there, watching.

Looking for the guiding light of a little Litwick~
[attr="class","cinziatext"] Who could go wrong with having a ghost type? They were nearly immune to everything, so it would be useful. Of course, she knew that they still had their weaknesses, but she really just wanted to be able to breed anything that she could get her hands on. This was going to be the best way to make the perfect pokemon for her. All she had were eggs right now, and they weren't going to be able to breed for a while after hatching. So, she needed some adult pokemon to be able to work with for that. She wanted to be able to do what she came to Arciel to do, but the question was, was she going to be able to do it? She didn't know, but she was going to try, just like right now, as she walked around the route, she was going to try and find the pokemon that she wanted to join her party and her growing family.
[attr="class","diamondtext"] Litwick. Why not use the floating candle pokemon to strengthen her team more. It might not be the best thing for contests, but she also couldn't judge that until she caught one and was able to see what it could do. By her side was Hope, her shiny popplio. Hope was her best friend and only family that doesn't feel like an ultimate betrayal. She was kind of intrigued to see what might come from this swarm really. Any pokemon that might help her cause to become the best coordinator in Arciel was a pokemon that she wanted on her team. Right now, she had two pokemon who used fairy moves, she needed something that could use other moves.[break][break]So, route 5a was the best route for her to try for something that wasn't so light and happy. Instead, this was a ghost pokemon. Something that might be able to give the spook factor for themed contests that would require that. Yeah, that would be good. She looked down at Hope and smiled. "Let's go Hope. We have some new party members to go and find." The popplio made a happy sound before the two started to walk in the search of a Litwick.
[attr="class","cinziatext"] It almost seemed eerie to see all of the Litwick moving around. It was almost as if the area was lit up by their little flames. It was adorable really. She nearly ran into one though but managed to stop just in time. "Oh, I'm sorry about that." She apologized to the pokemon, hoping that it would understand that she wasn't one to purposely try to harm a pokemon. It seemed to be docile enough and just floated there, as if asking her to try and befriend it. So that is what she was going to do.[break][break]Grabbing one of her pokeballs, she smiled to the Litwick and nodded lightly. "I can see that you are an easy going guy. How would you feel about joining me? I got three little eggs that could use some love, and well, I want to be able to protect them better with some help." She held the pokeball out to the Litwick. It was primed and ready to catch the floating candle, but only if it wanted it. That was going to be the ultimate challenge right there wasn't it.

It was one of the coldest nights Aster had experienced since coming to Arciel, and naturally, she would be outside in the middle of it. It was far too cold for any of her Grass Pokemon, but her Mudkip, Lily, was here with her, joyfully spitting mud onto the ground, waiting for it to get cold, then stepping in it to make it crunch. The mudfish was having the time of her life, while poor Aster who hadn't realized just how cold it would be out here, had only worn a thick hoodie rather than a coat more suited to winter chill. It wasn't even winter yet, she hadn't realized it could get this cold in autumn!
"Are you sure you're okay, Lily? It's awful cold, and yer a fish thing." The Mudkip chirped at her trainer, clearly delighted by the cold, and kept on spitting mud. "We prob'ly shouldn't be out in this too long anyway, darlin'. Okay? Not much longer, and we head back?" She hoped the eggs in her bag were okay, now that she mentioned it. It was super, super cold.
Lily ignored her and crunched the mud beneath her front legs, letting out another happy chirp.
Senara hissed in excitement at the first sight of a pale purple light moving along the hill. At once Baby Girl's head lowered, attention snapped up as well. It was moving so fast along the riverbank, she needed to be just as quick to get close. Moving carefully along the hill she approached through the tall grass until the light grew closer, and the shape inside it became clearer. Moving through the air was a little white body, a purple flame lit atop its head like a candle. A Litwick! And it was--oh, wait, no, take back that "little". As she grew closer she realized that it wasn't staying the same size at a distance. It was getting larger. A lot larger. It was even taller than Baby Girl was!
What in the world was it eating out here??
A lot of lost souls, probably. How grim. I love it already!
Ugh, but Baby Girl doesn't know any dark or ghost moves yet...she can't even hit it...
Senara bit her lip, frustrated, then reached into her bag and pulled a pokeball from her pack. Maybe it was weak enough that she could catch it without damaging it? She did not have any food to give it, save one berry, but she was saving that for a rare find. This little--big--guy was adorable, but was he worth a berry? Hmm...he would be a gorgeous and enormous Chandelure in time...and like they said, no time like the present.
"Hey, little one..."
The Litwick stopped its floating and turned in mid-air, looking at the source. Senara was standing only a few feet away with her hand outstretched, wepear berry large and round and inviting in her palm. Baby Girl leered at it from inside the coat. It looked...curious.
That was a good start. "I know you may not understand me," she spoke slowly, trying to be as charming as she possibly could, "But I know where I can find the stone to help you evolve. Do you want to come with me? You can have this treat if you--"
Before her sentence had even finished, Senara blinked, and the Litwick had moved right into her face. She almost took a startled step backwards. It was inspecting the berry in her hand with wide yellow eyes. It poked it. Then its little mouth turned into a frown, and it looked directly into her eyes. It...didn't want it? But didn't Pokemon like berries? Wh-
"You don't like sour things?" She spoke without thinking. The Litwick gave her a little nod--by which I mean its whole body moved up and down like it were nodding its head. Senara snickered and returned the berry to her pocket. He was still staring at her. Then, with a stubby hand, he pointed at her purse again, and she could only guess what he was asking. "Don't you have anything else in there"?
Well, isn't he quick to cut to the chase.
"N...no, I don't have anything else. But!" The Litwick began to drift back, but stopped mid-air when she exclaimed. "But, Halloween was just a week ago, and I still have a lot of candy at my house! If you like sweets, I'll give you un festin of them if you join me!" She sword the Litwick's flame grew brighter, and it returned to floating right in her face. That worked? What a glutton! All the same, at least he was interested. She reached into her bag and pulled out one of her bejeweled pokeballs, pressing the button and holding it to the Litwick instead. "What do you think? Does that sound good?"
@an Oncoming Mod WC: 617 You gave me a nature that hates sour food! Wepear is SUPER SOUR! XD

An orange flame materialized in the distance, suddenly flaring up and dying down in such a fast movement that Aster thought she might've imagined it. She pulled her bag close, the eggs inside seeming to react to her body temperature and bouncing around a bit inside. The flame approached, slowly weaving back and forth, until it came close enough to show that it was a little white candle Pokemon. Aster had never been so glad to see a Fire-type Pokemon in her life; usually they weren't a favorite of hers, naturally, but this one approached on the coldest night she knew and looked so warm and inviting to her.
Lily, however, did not want the Litwick near her trainer, knowing what that Pokemon could do. The Mudkip seemed to regret staying out, but refused to let the wild Pokemon approach any closer, using a proper Mud Slap to keep it back. The wild Pokemon narrowed its eye, then flickered forward with an Astonish, causing Lily to flinch, then used Minimize to up its dodging ability.
Not to be outdone, Lily used a fairly accurate Water Gun, nearly soaking the Litwick's flame. The wild Pokemon was startled, but managed to shoot off a Fire Spin, which missed due to the mud in its eye. Lily shot another Mud Slap, hoping to keep that trend up, and covered the Litwick in mud almost entirely.
Aster, confused as to why her Pokemon suddenly became so aggressive with the wild Pokemon but seeing an opportunity, tossed a Poke Ball at the damp, mud-soaked candle.

"Aw, rats.. Lily, keep tryin', I wanna catch this one!" The wild Litwick didn't seem pleased by the idea, but Lily was happy to keep fighting, especially if Aster wouldn't get too close. After being caught, they would definitely go somewhere warm and safe so that the Litwick wouldn't be able to take Aster's soul if that's what it wanted, so Lily was satisfied with capture.
She lunged for the wild Pokemon again, trying to hit it with a Tackle, but it didn't work at all. Poor Lily forgot that Litwick was immune to Normal-type attacks! The wild Pokemon took the opportunity to use Astonish again, which made Lily flinch, and then used Confuse Ray to make it more difficult for the Mudkip to fight. Lily managed to hurt herself, giving the Litwick another chance to attack. It attempted to strike Lily with Fire Spin again, and successfully trapped the Mudkip in the flaming vortex.
Aster chewed her nails, clutching her bag closer still, hoping that her Pokemon would pull through. She thought to swap out Lily with someone else, but of the Pokemon she brought along, nobody was better suited to fight a Fire-type Pokemon; plus, she didn't think she'd be able to get Lily back into her Poke Ball while those flames were surrounding her like that.
Lily finally shook herself out of the confused daze, striking the wild Pokemon with another Water Gun. The Litwick cried out in rage, but missed hitting Lily with its next Astonish attack and was met with another Water Gun in turn. It was very, very weak now, so Aster threw another ball, hoping this time would take.
Alas, despite its interest in her promise of sweets, the Litwick refused to get in the ball. He stared at it, let out a trilling sound, and scuttled back and away from her towards the riverbank. Senara's sweet, friendly smile turned downwards at once into a cold frown.
"Pourquoi toi petit...reviens ici!!"
Rather than trying "honey" this time, Senara opted to just throw the damn ball at the brat, and it collided with the back of his waxy top with a strangely squishy sound, then reeled back and a beam of red light encircled him. The ball fell from the air into the grass by the river and she rushed over to watch the light on it turn, brow knit tight in frustration. Baby Girl, on the contrary, let out a series of small barks that could have been a laugh. "Tais-toi, petite fille! Je lui ai offert la carotte, maintenant il a le bâton!" She hissed down at the little face in the front of her coat. Baby Girl just stared back up, smile and eyes unflinching. Senara grumbled some more choice words in Kalosian under her breath.
If this didn't work, there was nothing else she could do, aside from waste more pokeballs. It would suck but there might be nothing she could do until Baby Girl learned a move from one of her types, rather than just Normal ones. She hated to wait. But it would be stupid to waste time and money on something that she just couldn't obtain.
Litwick were creepy, and Gabe loved them. He had even designed an entire outfit at the ball dedicated to them. Now they were swarming? Hell yes. He was not going to pass up the opportunity to encounter and capture one of those, not even if his life depended on it. Walking about the Route in question with a Wartortle by his side, he occasionally glanced sideways to try and gauge the mood of the hour. The Wartortle, Leo, felt his eyes and glanced sideways at him. Gabe smiled, and the Wartortle rolled his eyes. “Whaaat? What did I do now?” Gabe teased a little only to be cut off by the Wartortle’s call. “Hm?” Gabe glanced forward searching to find just what had caught his Pokemon’s attention right then.
Sure enough, a Litwick was standing atop a branch staring down at them with a quiet, curious gaze. Gabe might not have been entirely surprised it had it not been for the flame atop its head. The signature purple was gone, replaced by a marvelous red color, almost like a real flame. “Well now, target acquired,” he made a small gesture forward.
The Wartortle now understood why he of all Pokemon had been selected. A huff escaped from him, and he folded his arms briefly. No, he would not fight an opponent who had such a Type disadvantage. Gabe made a face and raised an eyebrow. “Oh come on, this will make things quick,” he insisted. The Wartortle shook his head. The Litwick stared, not entirely sure what was happening. “Honestly, listen to me,” Gabe stated trying to look the Wartortle in the eyes. The Wartortle, however, avoided his gaze knowing well enough what strength he wrought from a good stare down.
“Convince it then, to join us,” Gabe made a hand gesture. “And if you can’t, battle.” The Wartortle huffed and walked forward setting his hands on either side of his shell. He really didn’t want to harm a poor innocent Pokemon, so maybe if he talked calmly to the Litwick, they could settle this. They started to have a brief conversation, one that Gabe could only guess from the tone and measure was going reasonably well. The Wartortle turned and stuck out a hand. Gabe blinked beore handing him a Pokeball. The Wartortle then tossed it at the Litwick. Huh.
Okay, so... definitely time to look for more Pokemon. Sure, sure, Greer managed to snag a Glaceon but he still needed to get more types. Plus... after the masquerade, he couldn't say no to a Litwick. Apparently the ghosts had been gathering out on this route, so he'd headed here in search of one of the little buggers.
"Here, Litwick~" he called out. Maura was with him for this one. Neither Rabbie or Lachlan were a good choice for battling a fire-type and he was a little worried about having Rhona do it. She was steel-type, after all, even if the other type on the Aron mitigated the weakness a little. "C'mon, now. Help me out here. Don't you want another teammate?" The Cubone looked up at him and shrugged. Maybe? She wasn't going to go seeking one out. Pff, Greer was crazy after all.
