Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
This swarm closes at 11:59pm site time on June 30. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.

Sneasel; a Dark/Ice type pokemon known for their sharp claws, and even sharper intellect and wit. Wily creatures; and ones that Makoto, admittedly, admired for their tenacity and sly natures. Having heard that some had wandered down from the North, and were now swarming in Route 9, including a rare colored one to match? Well... It was safe to say, that Makoto was eager to see if they couldn't find one, to add to their team.
Kuro, too, seemed curious about meeting another Dark Type, even if he was as wary as ever about strangers; poking around at the bushes cautiously as they walked through the orchards of Route 9. When the boughs above began to rustle, though, Kuro was quick to react; yelping as he once more used his illusions, to disguise himself as a fallen branch! Like always, though... Kuro wouldn't be able to quite get it down; at least his tail was convincing enough of a bough of leaves, assuming that leaves were supposed to be black!
Makoto was unable to help a sheepish but endeared chuckle, at this; though would soon glance upwards, to see just who was perched in the branches above. Kuro the Zorua - Level 5 - 5/5 Energy
Above, was perched a Sneasel; the little fella snickering in amusement - less malicious, and more just genuinely amused - at Kuro's kneejerk reaction to his presence. The genuine mirth was enough to put a smile on Makoto's face; though they couldn't help but have their attention caught, when they noticed something: this Sneasel was in a completely different color, from what most Sneasel were! In fact, this one was different from even the shiny fare; a warm golden color, with azure feathers, and blood-red claws! Makoto, eyebrows raised, would already be intrigued by this; wondering if this was a mutation, or something of the sort.
Either way, the Sneasel would giggle and snicker as he jumped down from his perch; hopping down next to Kuro, and idly poking at the branch that he was disguised as with a claw. The Mustelid would chitter, as if asking what Kuro was doing - though Kuro would only remain still, daring not to break the illusion.
"He's just a little shy; don't mind him." Makoto would murmur to the Sneasel, as they approached; crouching down next to him. The Sneasel would look up to them and chitter a little, before glancing down at Kuro once more, seeming vaguely disappointed. Did the Sneasel just want to play...? "Though, if you'd like to get to know him at all, you could always come with me; how does that sound to you?" In suggesting this, Makoto would extend a hand; offering a pokeball to the Sneasel. How would he respond, to this...? OOC: Catching with a Pokeball!
It seemed that the Sneasel misunderstood what Makoto meant, in offering the pokeball. Instead of going in the ball, the Sneasel - mistaking it for a toy - would instead smack at the ball with one of his claws, sending it rolling! Giggling, the Sneasel would run after the ball, continuing to bat it along without a care in the world, much to Makoto's brief bewilderment. Even Kuro didn't seem to expect the Sneasel's reaction; hesitantly coming out of his illusion, to watch the wily pokemon chase after the pokeball!
"... I think there's some crossed wires, here..." Makoto would briefly murmur, laughing a little. "Let's go get the ball back, yeah?" Kuro would yip an affirmative, and follow at Makoto's heels as they went to follow the playful Sneasel, but...
... It seemed as though that was easier said than done; because even this, the Sneasel though was part of the game! Seeing Kuro and Makoto coming after him, he'd grin playfully, and pick up the pace; playing keepaway with what he simply thought to be a toy! It'd end up into a full-on run between both parties as they chased the Sneasel around the orchard, and though Makoto knew better than to think of it as a game, well... Even they couldn't help but laugh at it all, seeming to enjoy the antics at hand!
The game wouldn't last forever, though; eventually, the pokeball would snap in half as it was rolled a little too hard into a nearby tree! The Sneasel would stop at this; a little disappointed that the game was over, and disappointed that they broke the supposed toy. Makoto, though, didn't even mind that the pokeball broke; simply glad that they could stop, to catch their breath! "That... hah... Was fun, wasn't it...?" They'd still try to question between panting breaths; smiling a bit as the Sneasel chittered in confirmation. "That wasn't... a toy... just to clarify..."
Pulling out another pokeball - hoping that the Sneasel won't run off with this as well - Makoto would clarify "It's... It's a pokeball... I'd like to, hah, bring you with me, if... If you're willing." Let's try again - another catch with another pokeball!
Sneasel were mean and thief like, and Gabe had always vaguely liked them as a concept for it. He couldn’t be assed to go all the way up to North Arciel just yet to go looking for one (but maybe once “work” decided that was a good idea), but when a particular swarm decided to break out on one of the routes he just happened to be on, well. He wasn’t going to not stop and look around.
Perhaps it was a little mean of him to carry Fire and Fighting Pokemon in a match up with an Ice Type, but no one had accused Gabe of being nice. Walking around now with Ignis in tow, Gabe hummed softly as he looked around slowly. The Vulpix, meanwhile, sniffed the air cautiously. The last thing they really needed was to be ambushed by something.
Gabe has the shiny charm. Vulpix [35, Ignis (Lucky Egg)], Lucario [42, Senara (EXP.SHARE]), Fletchinder [29, Fireflight (EXP.SHARE)], Charmeleon [50, Lizbeth], Blastoise [Leonardo, 45]
From the shade of a tree, a Sneasel leapt forth her claws ready and raring to go. Ignis just barely noticed her in time— hopping in front of Gabe’s right side and bracing through the damage. “Iggs…” Gabe started only to turn his attention to the Sneasel standing there.
Said Sneasel stood ready. She knew her cover was blown but wasn’t going to back down just yet. Instead, she began to Hone her Claws and….
They’re red…Is that… blood??? Gabe’s eyes widened briefly. No, no way that was blood. Gabe’s eyes flashed over the rest of the Sneasel. Her coloring was… so distinct and dangerous. What was lost in the dark aesthetic was made up for in looking lethal.
It’s…. creepy…Ignis’s thoughts pushed up against Gabe’s mind. Distantly, Gabe was glad they were in agreement in this case. He still wanted it, though, and that came with an order.
“Fire Spin, Ignis,” Gabe called. The Vulpix took in a breath and released the fiery tornado at the Sneasel. The latter shot an Icy Wind at it but still took some of the brunt of the entrapping fire damage. Swatting her claws around, she formed another Icy Wind and shot it out of the fire tornado… but was unable dispel it. Crying a little as the fire touched her, the Sneasel swatted at it again.
Alright, almost there. “Flame Charge now,” Gabe ordered. Engulfing himself in flames, Ignis ran forward tackling into his own fire tornado and right up against the entrapped Sneasel. Grabbing a Premier ball, Gabe tossed it into the fire right after.

Sid was vaguely aware Route 9 existed and led up to Cork Town, but when they had first come to Arciel, it had been practically snowed over. After the snow had cleared, they had always had reasons to go in the opposite direction. Now, however, with some Sneasel sightings in the area, they couldn’t help but have their interest piqued. So that day, with some free time at hand, Sid strapped up Star Dancer, their Galarian Ponyta, with a couple of eggs that needed some hatching anyways, and headed out.
Now, though Sid waved in and around the track and trees. Star had a particular way about him that was somewhat bothersome but often exciting, and that day upon his back, Sid decided it was much the latter. “Woohooo!!” escaped up into the air a couple of times followed by some nickering cries back. They were both having so much fun that it was almost easy to forget what they were actually there to do.
That was, at least, until something caught in the corner of Sid’s eye.
The air was getting colder, even though it was the middle of summer. That signaled to Kaisei that the map had been correct. The Sneasel swarm was close. In only a short amount of time, they would return north to their icy homes, and he resolved to snag one before then. With him he had Wataru and Kanna, the penguin Pokemon's feathers keeping him well insulated from any freezing attacks that might be sent their way, and the eagle-eyed bug with her own coat of insulation. [break][break] It was Kanna who signaled him that she had found the swarm, and with her help, Kaisei crept slowly up to the gathered Sneasel, keeping under the cover of the trees. Trying to ambush a Pokemon that was itself an ambush predator... how ironic. Wataru waddled up to them shortly after, and Kaisei scanned the group, looking for a worthy opponent for them. [break][break] Party: Burmy (Kanna, Lv17, 5/5 Energy), Prinplup (Wataru, Lv16, 5/5 Energy) [break][break] Notes: 150 WC[break] Using Swarm Tracking Map for the month.
Sneasel was a rash sort of Pokemon. She’d been about as territorial as she could have been on her own out during the swarm. She’d fought back any and all who would come into her territory with gusto. Even without a nest, she was powerful, or so she told herself. That was why when the clamor of din caught her ears and startled her from sleep, she was quick to attack.
Just as Sid had turned their gaze to the streek of red, the Sneasel had flown from her spot and gone swinging at them. She got off a hard Metal Claw on the Ponyta and sent him and Sid crashing sideways. Sid had barely enough sense to grasp the eggs as the bag too went sailing and keep the precious contents from hitting the ground. Star cried as he struggled back to standing and shook out his body. Sid groaned and held their precious eggs a little tighter. Goodness that had been too close for comfort.
The Sneasel cried out ready to fight with everything she had! The Ponyta hesitated in response. This was… a frightening combatant. He looked back to Sid before quickly forming a Fairy Wind and putting as much space between him and the Sneasel as possible. The latter went cutting through it taking the damage but unflinching for now. A sharp series of Fury Swipes went sailing forward. As the fray continued, Sid scrambled. There was only one way out of this safely, and they knew they had to try. A Heal Ball was tossed.

In a flash of light, the Sneasel broke free! That would not be enough to stop her! Sid winced a little. This wasn’t the best situation, but they’d have to keep going. “Star, use another Fairy Wind,” they spoke softer now. The Ponyta looked back at them vaguely incredulously but looked back and formed the attack as ordered. They had to get out of this somehow, and Sid seemed more frazzled than usual. Granted, they were also clinging to what could have been a very nasty accident with some very young Pokemon. Maybe the thought of changing party members really didn’t come to them right then.
A blast of Fairy Wind came forth from the small unicorn’s horn, and though the Sneasel was quick to whip up an Icy Wind back, the prior had more time to prepare. A small cry escaped from the Sneasel. Sid winced again and quickly moved to grab the Heal Ball off the grass and toss it again in hopes of securing capture this time.
Among all the Sneasel, one immediately caught Kaisei's eye. It was large - about twice the size of its fellow Sneasel - but what he noticed first of all was its garish pink coloration. How incredibly lucky! As quietly as he could, he pulled a Luxury Ball out of his bag - a fitting ball for the elegant Pokemon. He wound up, threw, and as the ball sailed through the air directly on target -- [break][break] The Sneasel, without looking behind itself, neatly backhanded the ball the way it came, which Kaisei caught easily. It turned around, with a sly smile on its face, and pointed with that same claw directly at Kaisei, then made the universal gesture for "come at me, bro." Kaisei was unsure whether the Sneasel's attitude was admirable, or if it made him want to personally punch its face in. He slammed a fist against his other palm and pointed to himself, with a questioning look on his face. The Sneasel's only response was to roll its eyes, and spread out its arms, causing the swarm of other Sneasel to back away into a roughly circular-shaped arena. Kanna looked up at Kaisei, who shook his head. She extended her antenna around the branch of a nearby tree and settled in to spectate the fight. [break][break] So it was to be a proper, one-on-one Pokemon battle, then. And probably no interference from the trainer would be permitted, either. "Wataru." Without any further acknowledgement of his trainer, the Prinplup stepped forward, awaiting orders. "I've got only one more command for you today. Win." [break][break] The Prinplup made the first move, charging ahead and shaping both of his wings into Metal Claws glowing with white light. He slashed down at the Sneasel, who agilely dodged away and retaliated with a cold blast of air from its mouth - hardly even damaging Wataru as he continued to slash away fiercely, his wide wings covering as much space as possible. Yet despite its size, the Sneasel always found a way to avoid the Metal Claws, continuing to taunt Wataru with more stinging wind attacks. [break][break] Icy Wind, Kaisei realized. Not known for its effectiveness at damaging the foe, but rather to slow it down and make it easier to strike the final blow. Wataru already seemed more sluggish than he had at the beginning of the fight, and Kaisei wanted to tell him to change tactics - but he held his tongue. He had already told Wataru he wouldn't interfere, so the Prinplup just had to figure it out himself. Kaisei committed himself to the expectation that he would. He did not permit himself to have low standards for his Pokemon. [break][break] Fortunately enough, Wataru had stopped moving and was instead blowing large Bubbles at the Sneasel. As slow as the bubbles were, it was easy enough for the Sneasel to dodge them, and he set Wataru up for a Feint Attack that slashed into his backside. When the penguin clumsily tried to turn around, a Quick Attack was delivered, winding the Prinplup even more. Breathing heavily, Wataru blew many more bubbles, but it seemed to Kaisei there was an obvious path the Sneasel could take to avoid them - surely the Sneasel saw it too? [break][break] It did, but the next time it appeared in front of Wataru's face, the Prinplup used a Peck attack, not to attack the Sneasel but to pop his own bubbles, splashing cold water all over the Sneasel. What it did next, Kaisei did not expect. It let out an agonizing wail and started frantically brushing its claws over its fur, trying to wipe off the offending water. His hopes that the Bubble attack had slowed it down were quickly dashed when it leapt away, before extending its claws and hissing at Wataru again. [break][break] Wataru resumed the creation of a defensive shield of bubbles, while the Sneasel looked around for a way to pass his defense. The opportunity presented itself after many long moments, when the bubbles started floating into the air - the time to strike. Like a shadow, the Sneasel ducked under the mass and went in for another Feint Attack, but the penguin Pokemon revealed his last trick: a Blizzard attack, that not only knocked back the Sneasel but also froze the large mass of bubbles, which crashed down onto and around the Sneasel. Dazed and frustrated, it used its Keen Eye to sight the Prinplup through the icy haze surrounding it, only to realize too late that a Metal Claw was already smashing into its face. [break][break] The Sneasel lay on the ground, still smiling, and cracked open one eye as Kaisei walked up to it, producing a Mammoth Ball. [break][break] "Good fight. Let's do this again sometime."
