Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
The sky was clear, the sun was out, to Nikolai's untrained eye it was actually a nice day to be out on the ferry. I mean, when you look at it, what would be better weather to be sailing? You still had the respite of being inside and out of the sun, but you could still be out there and enjoying it and the breeze. Plus, once it got moving, imagine the Pokemon that would be out to play. And there were lower platforms that let the ferry goers closer to the water to interact with them.
And assuming you weren't stupid enough to fall in, it sounded like a great time.
So Nikolai didn't mind, actually feeling a little encouraged when he bought a ticket and boarded. In a few minutes, it would be leaving and then he could get on with his day. As much as Nikolai wanted to stick with having only one Pokemon out, it was hard to choose. His Larvesta was so far his favorite, but also took up a lot of space. While he wasn't quite as bonded to his Heatmor nor Axew yet. But they took up less space, especially the Axew.
So, deciding to breach into more unknown territory, the Axew was released and was held in his arms. Wasn't this how one bonded with Pokemon? Nikolai look down upon the Axew, uncertain. Though she just looked up at him, red eyes glimmering happily and her tusk parting a smile as she patted his arms. It seemed to be working?

Honey had been in Plum for work when it happened. She hadn't known at the time about the news, the Ultra Wormhole, or anything. She just knew Ginger had woken up bawling in pain, something she never did. Had she been a less resilient child, Honey may have been tempted to give her half an ibuprofen and tell her to see how she felt in the morning, but for Ginger to be all but thrashing in pain meant something was Very Wrong, and they'd gone straight to the ER. Not that they wound up being able to do much except safely recommend the strongest medicine a 6-year-old could manage, but still.
The interesting part of this was what came after, when Honey DID learn about the Wormhole, the mass headaches experienced by others, and the connection between them. Did this mean Ginger had some sort of powers Honey wasn't aware of? She'd sworn she didn't, so Honey suspected something latent that would bloom later, but she wondered where on earth such a thing would come from. Did anyone in Teddy's family have powers like this? She couldn't recall as much if they did. Hm.
Well, at any rate, it was close to noon now, and the migraine had subsided. Many folks were still buzzing from the news, but Honey was a bit conflicted. She was scared, but also excited, but preoccupation with Ginger's well-being overrode both for now. She thought perhaps heading home to Ivy to rest for a few days might be best, so they'd hopped the ferry.
Ginger really was feeling better, thankfully, almost as if it had never happened, but Honey still kept a close eye on her. As the patrons on the ferry began to spread out and do their own things, Ginger looked around, and spied a man holding a cute Pokemon. "Momma look!" She pointed. "It's an Axew."
Oh? "They're pretty rare, aren't they?" Honey asked, knowing the answer, but enjoying setting up for Ginger to show off her knowledge.
"Mm-hm! Can we go see it?"
"Be sure to ask," Honey told her, and she followed the girl over to the young man.
Though often shy, Ginger could be outgoing when it came to Pokemon. "Excuse me, mister," she said. "That's a really nice Axew you have!"
Close by, a two foot sphere of birb perched atop the ferry cabin, watching the whole scene.

Nikolai as of yet, was still very neutral about the entire situation. In the last Ultra Beast incident six years ago now his family hadn't been the most affected by it. Their home had come out of it okay, and none of them were overly hurt, it was more so a few of the people around them that had been affected. But for someone who had no say in how things were handled, Nikolai likely wouldn't have any sort of an opinion on it unless he came face to face with one.
But as of right now, the ferries wre still running, and he was being encouraged to stay home or at least not alone as much as possible. And with such young Pokemon, okay, maybe he was a little worried about not being able to defend himself if something happened. That was why he was really trying to train now, while still working towards his goal of getting a farm. Even if it was quite likely it would be more of a daycare at the end of the day.
Back to the present though, Axew was starting to squirm as she looked around, definitely an active little girl who wanted to be a part of everything. "Axew!" She called and waved a greeting to nearly everyone around them. It was actually somewhat adorable. Another energetic greeting was given to a little girl as she made her way over, with her older sister? Nikolai's attention was drawn even more to it as the redheaded girl actually addressed him. 'Mister' huh? Respectful, but now he was suddenly feeling quite old. Okay, so 28 wasn't that terribly old, but still.
"Why thank you, I hatched her myself recently." Nikolai smiled down at Ginger, Axew squirming very much now and grunting when Nikolai held her tighter so she wouldn't fall. But still the dragon type squirmed, Nikolai raising an eyebrow at her before setting the Pokemon down. Just what was this about? But it was harmless, Axew closed some of the distance and stared amazed at the smaller human. Ginger was about a foot taller than the Axew, but as of yet this was the first time she had met someone nearer her height!
"Axe, axew, axew!" The Pokemon cheered, hopping from foot to foot happily.
Nikolai chuckled at her antics. "I think she's happy that you're almost her size. My other Pokemon are on the larger side so I think you're the first." Nikolai explained, smiling slightly. "Would you like to play with her?" He then asked, Axew once again cheering with delight before she was tapping at Ginger, gently of course even if her haste caused her to miss before she was running off to initiate a game of tag.
