A raspberry was blown at Sid in response, Gaki's eyes narrowed. "Well it's not my fauly I starting maining another MMO- there's just so little time for digimon go!" there was an eyeroll, followed by her pushing the hand not holding her phone to her hip, eyes flicking between the now approaching Naoki and Sid. She let a polite smile rest on her face as Naoki introduced themselves, eyebrow quirking slightly before she grabbed her phone, rapidly typing out.
[ you didn't get a free plot?! ╚(•⌂•)╝ ]
It was advertised all over Kanto and why she came here in the first place! Did Naoki got ripped off?! She'd have to fight some higher ups for them, surely they're no level over 10, she can take them! Like yeah, Gaki (and Sid) spent money and savings on actually building it but... the plot. Naoki was typing again and Gaki waited patiently to see what they said, only to gasp and glance to Sid excitedly. "Siiiiiiid!" They were like Sid! She was typing excitedly before they could get a chance to, the girl bouncing a little on her feet.
[ m(._.)m !!! i should have asked i'm sorry naoki! my cousin's nb, same pronouns! this is so cool- if anybody says anything to you ill fight them, especially since youre gonna start games ᕦ(ò_óˇ) ]
She wouldn't hesitate to yeet a person off a game or report them, or spam them with 200 hate emails simultaneously, whatever needs to be done! They were neighbors after all- oh- right, she'll have to tell Sid about the game thing... eh, it can wait.

At Gaki’s words, Sid rolled their eyes back. “Baka baka baka baka….” they muttered a couple of times shaking their head before refocusing on the person before them— one far more interesting than Gaki at the moment.
Nakano Naoki from Sinnoh? Oh who did they know in Sinnoh? Sid thought for a moment but then pulled themselves from the thought to finish reading. Oh nine years ago now… That was quite a while ago, probably before they really knew anyone anyways. Ah well. But hm? They had to save up money? That was unfortunate. Maybe the offer of a startup plot was only for a certain type of foreigners coming in very recently. Red eyes flicked up to Onsei and then back down again. Legally deaf… Ah ah, they understood. A small head nod was given to Onsei right after.
Hm? Huh??? Sid hadn’t gotten a chance to read the next text before Gaki’s voice distracted them. “What?” Leaning forward, they read a bit slower. “Oh!” A small nod was given and they too started to text— not nearly as fast as Gaki though. [I’m NB, never really been fluid, but I do like the masc aesthetic a little more often than the fem…] they texted before showing it to Naoki and adding more. [Granted, cosplay days are a little different…] They showed and then immediately flipped over to their Instachu wherein they flipped from one masc-knight-cosplay to a recent fem-painted fairy.
A free plot? Oh, yeah, they remembered something about that a while ago. Naoki did a quick shake of their head and showed their screen to Gaki. [ I think that was to encourage people to move to the region. I'd already gotten my citizenship a long time back, so it didn't really apply to me, I don't think? ^_^;; And I didn't mind working for it! It makes it feel earned, you know? I want to expand and make it a *proper* orchard! ]
Something lit up behind Naoki's eyes, and their smile grew wider and brighter with genuine excitement. That reaction from Gaki--even if they couldn't hear her--and Sid's quick response gave them so much joy! They hadn't really run into negative experiences since they came out, but at the same time they hadn't met many other people on the gender spectrum. Chalk it up to not going out looking for such a crowd, perhaps? But even just knowing their neighbor was nonbinary--and that their cousin was so supportive from the looks of things--was wonderful. On instinct they brought their hand to their chin and flicked it out before, blushing a little, they typed it out instead.
[ Thank you so much Gaki. ~ ^u^ That means a lot to me! ]
Naoki leaned in a little to look at the pictures of Sid in their...costumes? No, cosplay? They kind of knew what that was but...huh, those were some very detailed outfits!
[ Did you make those yourself?? Wow! You look amazing! ] They put a few pieces together in their head as they typed out another response. [ Do you do costumes for the LARP that Gaki was talking about? Are either of these from that? ]
Onsei began to eat another one of the berries from the basket, contentedly out-of-focus.
Gaki just scrunched her nose in response to Sid's 'baka' taunts, eyes squinting into a glare before focusing back on Naoki, nuh-uh, she wasn't gonna let Sid get her defenses down this time! This was time for affection building and ensuring she didn't get any farm rivals in the early stages of her farm experience! She couldn't help smiling ever so slightly at Naoki's expression, they looked so happy??? And their text had Gaki rushing out a reply, green eyes sparkling a little, though she'd never admit it.
[ np ୧ʕ•̀ᴥ•́ʔ୨]
Eyes flicked to what Sid was writing next, humming slightly as their Instachu was revealed, pictures she'd seen before being showed to their neighbor. Sid was great at making costumes, and dressing up, and makeup, and larping- and literally everything else, and that's why Gaki looked up to them so much! Though again, she would refuse to ever admit it, that shows weakness! And, as Naoki brought her LARP into the conversation you could practically see the wheels turning in Gaki's head as she wrote out a big response.
[ sid does costumes sometimes for them or other larpers bring in their own, whatever they want! LARP costumes are material expensive so it's better if sid didn't lose energy to it! but they have made a bunch, like... ]
She quickly pulled back her phone and flicked through her albums, easily finding one of the old group at Sid's college and showing it proudly to Naoki, a bunch of university students and a younger Gaki all decked out in medieval armour, with swords, shields, spears, witch hats, all the jazz.

Did they make those costumes themselves? Sid grinned. Yes, yes they did. A quick head-nod, and they were typing again. [I’ve made most of them, but some of the really detailed armor plating was made with help from my swordsmith friends in Kanto] they answered with a pang of pride. As Gaki flashed images of their old college group, they made a small point to the last two figures in the lineup. [These two are Yuto Fujikawa and Sasaki Sato; they’re both engineers who also do traditional metal working on the side!] they smiled a little right after. Pointing out another, they immediately typed again. [This is Kamigawa Kohaku. He's a game developer!]
Before Sid could go any further, though, Noble made a low note that had their attention turning to him briefly again. “Are you ok?” Sid’s eyes flicked from the Skiddo to the Elgyem he was staring at a couple of times. Uh??? “Did you want a berry?” they incorrectly assessed. The Skiddo frowned. He did not, in fact, want one, but it did sound good but also there was an alien right there, guys…..
The art of sewing and clothes/costume-making was not one Naoki had gotten into, alas. They liked to work with their hands when gardening or fishing or cooking, but for one reason or another sewing or anything similar never crossed into that. And from Gaki's words they were kind of glad they hadn't. Not in a "oh, that's too expensive to be worth it" way, but more in the sense that Naoki knew themselves. If they had a hobby like this, they'd probably have needed even longer to buy their farm, just because they'd have spent so much on their own costumes or the like. It was like that one card game their friends in school played that was so costly that they'd never gotten into it. M-something.
Whatever it was Sid's costumes were still beautiful. The thought of wearing a fanciful costume like that made them a little anxious, especially in the context of a LARP--though maybe they were wrong about how physical a LARP would be? [ They're so lovely. How do you wear them anywhere? I'd be so scared of getting them dirty... ] Naoki gave the photo on Gaki's screen next a look. Sid provided a few of the faces with names. Oh, wow, metal workers and game developers. Most of their friends from home had gone into pretty standard careers after their Pokemon adventure, or settled back in Floraroma.
In fact, I think I'm the only one who left the region and stayed away. Or maybe not...?
[ Is metal armor as heavy as it looks? Do people usually wear those to LARPS, or is it too hard to move around in? ] They had so many questions just about the finer details of all of these strange, fanciful things, that they hardly noticed Sid was distracted by their little Skiddo until something flew past their face. Another berry went through the air to hover a few inches away from the Skiddo's nose. Onsei's hand was extended toward it.
It was only then, seeing Onsei offer a fruit to the Pokemon, that Naoki realized they were standing out in the snow having this talk and they might be getting cold. Naoki pointed over their shoulder with one hand and typed with the other. [ Would you two like to visit my home? I would love to learn more about your games, but it *is* cold and I haven't even offered you something to drink or eat. I feel like a bad host. >_<;;; ]
The interest Naoki was taking in both her and Sid and their hobbies was making Gaki giddy, ahhh???! Not many people seemed interested, at all in their own little world, or at least they were viewed as weird nerds by some people, who Gaki had given a straight earful! This was a welcome change that had her bouncing on her heels. Sid's work was great, top tier, tailored by somebody who's in-game skill was way beyond the sites skill tree! Her phone was drawn back to herself as Naoki typed once more, Gaki peering at the words on the screen before replying excitedly.
[ ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ i have a +10 in strength! ] lies, gaki!!! [ it depends on the type of metal for it's weight, but i can handle it and so much more!! i've been wearing armour since i was tiny! (b ᵔ▽ᵔ)b buncha people wear stuff like this to larps, but it's just whatever the person is comfortable with- sometimes they wear fabric that looks like metal rather than armour and stuff... low level weaklings. (҂⌣̀_⌣́) ]
Eyes curiously flicked up to Onesei as the interactions took place, curious. Pac-man she was glad she didn't bring any of her mons, they'd probably annoy the mon by running around senseless thinking they were a target! But it was cool and fine, all low level mischef. At Naoki's next words Gaki blinked, oh- yeah. The had a +5 in cold resistance right now, but... this was a chance to raise affection points!! "The affection point level bar is raising dramatically, Sid!" Gaki spoke as she wrote on her phone app, flicking letters before turning the phone around once more.
[ has bowser kidnapped peach 23 times in game?? ー( ´ ▽ ` )ノ ]
Reading Naoki’s words, Sid chuckled briefly. Their thumbs had started to move across their keyboard: [ I reinforce them a lot and also can fix them up quickly on the fly— ] but then Noble had caught their attention.
As the berry flew through the air and then came to hover in front of the Skiddo, Sid brightened a little. “Ah thank you—“ they spoke aloud before immediately remembering they needed to write it. Their text was erased, and they were quick to rewrite with a thanks of the same tone and measure. Noble stared at the berry before him and looked at it and then up at the Elgyem again. He supposed… he might consider this a peace offering of some sort. Leaning forward, he munched on the berry and found it to be…. acceptable.
Naoki’s offer had Sid glancing sideways at Gaki. They kind of wanted to actually get back to catching Ophanimon, but gah Gaki was so cute and funny. And ah. They hoped she could keep this friend. [Sure, I’d love to] they answered back. With that, they’d follow after once Naoki started moving. Noble was quick to follow after them a little less leery but still concerned.
Gaki's continued descriptions of things in game terms was still very cute, and very silly. It was easy to tell how much she loved them. The idea of her wearing armor when she was "tiny", though, gave them pause. How "tiny" was "tiny"? Had she been doing cosplay since she was so young? That must have been pretty fun, but...they would have gotten exhausted so quickly if they tried to wear full-plate armor with how sickly they had been as a child. They chuckled at her comment of "low-levels". [ I've wondered before how heavy chain mesh is. Does that count as armor, even if it's not as heavy? ]
Onsei made another series of beeps. To the Skiddo, though, it was audible.
<I will do nothing to you. Stop looking at me like that.>
Naoki, oblivious, smiled bright as both Gaki and Sid accepted their offer. They turned half-way and waved their hand in a small "follow me" gesture before beginning to walk down the dirt path to their little farmhouse. Now in the heart of their farm it was clear that it was less of a "farm" and more like an orchard, surrounded by berry trees both big and small, though only those who were suited to winter weather--that being the Rawst berries, Aspear berries, Wepear berries, and Aguav berries. Those trees had little fruit still growing on their branches, waiting patiently to grow to full size to be harvested. Farther down the path sat a little white cabin surrounded by smaller berry bushes--though they were dried out from the season--with a bright red tin roof and large windows overlooking the heart of the orchard. Naoki unlocked the simple oak-brown door and held it open with one hand while holding open their phone with the other.
[ Come in! Please leave your boots on the rack by the wall, if they have snow on them. The main room has a thick rug so don't worry about your feet being cold! ]
Past the doorway was a small entry with a lift, similar to more traditional homes in the Sinnoh region, with a stone step before going into the hardwood flooring of the main room. Everything inside was very warm, both in temperature and color; warm wood framing on the windows, a dark brown rug that took up most of the floor, a couple of couches that were a rich red color around a low coffee table just a shade lighter than the frames and door. Past the entry by a ways was an open doorway that lead into a kitchen with a round oak table with a few matching chairs. A couple closed doors on the opposite wall implied a bathroom and bedroom, and another door off the kitchen was the pantry--or perhaps a cellar for storing berry preserves and jams. Onsei drifted in over all the human's heads and set the basket of berries on the floor of the kitchen by that door.
Naoki waited for their guests to enter before coming in themselves, shedding their boots, gloves, scarf, and winter coat. It took a bit of their mass off of them, but surprisingly not that much. They were still in socks when they stepped up from the entry and went towards the kitchen. Onsei, can you ask them what they'd like while my hands are full? They opened the fridge and took out a pitcher of berry juice to fill a cup for themselves.
A small grumpy beep came from the little robot-alien-Pokemon, and a series of images suddenly entered Sid and Gaki's head: a glass of water, a round cup of berry juice, a bottle of milk, and a can of lemonade. D-O Y-O-U W-A-N-T A-N-Y O-F T-H-E-S-E?
Gaki Amabie Sidney Ridley WC: 645 Bleh describing homes is not as fun as making them in Sims. xD;;
Naoki's question about chain-mesh had Gaki grinning further, donkey-kong they were takin' an inteerest- maybe she could drag them into LARPs! Her and Sid's first LARP team member! Adventures galore, taking on Arciel- what would their first story be?! What could they accomplish?! Would it be a basic theme to start with? Something simple? Like... taking on a level 60 dragon! Oh, she was getting carried away! She was quick to type out a response, flipping the phone around like the girl on a mission she was.
[ it defo counts as armour!! anybody who says otherwise is a noob. if it protects, it works! o(≧∇≦o) ]
Then Naoki began leading her and Sid onwards, through winter berry trees that have already called Naoki's place home, it was indeed an interesting aesthetic-perfect for playing high-stakes hide and seek in, loser has to battle the level 9000 boss in the Arachnid dungeon! Gaki mentally took notes for her own farm, Naoki was an ally, sure, but she couldn't let that blindsight her to Naoki being a rival in her harvest moon fantasy! As they were let towards... a really cute cabin Gaki was sure to stay on her guard, this was quaint and cute and really nice- but... secret attacks could be just around the corner!
Gaki followed along with curious eyes, into the house after slipping her limited edition kirby boots off with a smile and a nod. Ahhh?? This place was so... homey! It kinda reminded her a bit of her aunts place, of course not as traditional but still! It was missing the charm of gaming posters, swords on the wall, of technology, of the new era of gaming! But hopefully with Sid's help Gaki could change that very quickly!
Naoki was wondering around doing things in the kitchen and Gaki awkwardly stood where she was, unsure what the next pro-gamer move was... she'd... never really been invited to other peoples places before- she used to curse out people in class who interrupted her playing her DS. Urgh... as letters flashed in her head, followed by pictures her gaze whipped around to the robot. "Uh- uhm- Milk, please!"
There was still a chance she could grow big and strong- oh- oh she was supposed to compliment the house right? To get higher affection points! But.. what did people... oh! [ cute house! ] she moved to where Naoki was and flashed the screen then, proud of herself before standing back.
Noble was…. immediately embarrassed and looked to the ground while following close to Sid. W-well a-a-alright then. Ok. Maybe they were being tense for no reason. Maybe. Probably. Maybe.
Sid wasn’t entirely oblivious to this but didn’t really know how to help so they just kind of reached down and pat him as they followed after Naoki. Red eyes flickered around slowly taking in the sights of the trees. They recognized quite a few of those now thanks to Gaki shifting their interests that way. How nice…
As they stepped inwards, Sid leaned to read the text before immediately nodding. Bending down to slip off their boots and set them up on the rack, they wriggled their toes in their socks. They were toe socks…. with a print of a very particular yellow cloud sailing around them with a stream of yellow following. Sid smiled at them before turning inwards to the actual house they had entered. The layout was reminiscent of their old family home but offset just enough to not be unnerving. Sid could… appreciate it now more than they had before.
It was warm in here, though, and they shrugged off the coat they had been wearing and put them in whatever storage there was. Under that, they had a long sleeve black t-shirt with a strange Go-Ku? Logo on the front. Apart from that, though, their jeans were pretty standard.
Noble followed in last and tapped his hooves on the lining of the door to shake off any extra snow and dirt he could before he stepped in. Looking around, he slowly climbed up the step and then seemed to, for whatever reason, enjoy tapping his hooves on the wood. The clickity clack sound was nice! Almost kind of hollow! Sid side eyed him, and he immediately stopped and straightened. Best… behavior… in the house. Y-yeah.
Walking in and finding themselves unsure of what to do, Sid stood and just sort of… looked around slowly. At least until the beep had them jolting and looking— Oh they guessed they weren’t looking. Images were flashing in their mind instead. “Uh…. juice please,” they answered. As Gaki walked back towards Naoki, Sid moved to sit down on one of the couches for now. The warmth was actually surprisingly indulgent and was making them kid of sleepy. Noble walked around and immediately eased down on their feet. That wasn’t helping Sid any.
With the jug of berry juice on the counter Naoki reached into the cupboard above them to take out a trio of cups, although one of them wasn't the same color and shape as the other. Ah well, just because they didn't match didn't make them look bad. Maybe they should offer them something warm, though, given the cold...would they think it weird if Naoki just started making food though? Oh, but maybe tea would be good. They could go for a cup themselves. Making sure the little electronic kettle was plugged in and full of fresh water they clicked the power button. The base of the kettle lit up with a bright blue light that would turn red when the water had come to a boil. A lot easier for them to keep track of when they couldn't hear the sound of a kettle whistling.
Onsei took both Gaki and Sid's verbal responses, and in turn flashed the images of the milk bottle and berry juice in Naoki's own mind. They blinked twice but were otherwise used to this sort of communication. Naoki took out a glass bottle of milk and poured it into one of the cups, then did the same with the two other cups only with the berry juice.
When Gaki moved into the kitchen, though, Onsei started to float just a little closer behind her. Before it even happened he knew what was about to occur, and he didn't need future vision for this one. It was not, unfortunately, the first time this happened.
So why didn't he stop it now?...well, because it was kind of funny seeing them startled.
Naoki picked up two of the glasses, that being the one for Sid and the one for Gaki, and began to turn their body around when suddenly Gaki was just...there. There was no sound from her footsteps, nor vibrations on the sturdy tile floor for them to feel in their feet, so her sudden presence startled them. They took a sharp step back to avoid walking right into the far smaller woman, bumping their elbow into the counter, which knocked the other cup of berry juice off it. "Hha--!" Their voice slipped out in surprise.
Before the cup hit the tile, though, it was suddenly wrapped in a faint blue-green light, and caught hovering just a couple inches away from destruction. The juice was less lucky, hitting the floor, but liquid was easier to handle than ceramic shards.
Naoki drew in a small series of breaths, then looked down at Gaki, signing quickly before they thought about it--their hands patted over their torso, almost like they were checking for something, then pressed their fingers to their forehead before dropping it in a gentle chopping motion. <<Are you okay? I'm so sorry!>> They paused to look for their phone to type, but before they picked it up, Onsei relayed the words to her mentally. The cup lowered to the tiles with a much less awful crashing sound and more just a slight clank.
What Gaki was not expecting as her deeply thought about question was shown to Naoki was for them not to see her, or notice her at all. For a brief moment Gaki debating tapping them on the shoulder, but before she could really improve on her strats Naoki was turning around and almost went right into her, letting out a reverberating noise of shock- and like a cut scene in a fighting game things went in slow motion. "Argh- Gack!" one of the cups was falling and then it wasn't- juice went just... all over, and Gaki was there gaping, slightly confused and shocked- did she... was juice... anywhere... no, she was fine, but... uh- uhm?! She saw Naoki's hands moving and for a second was confused, at least until letters flashed in her mind- oh?! Oh! They were signing!
Uh- uhm... Gaki was quick to write out a reply, careful to step over the mess- right she... probably had a bonus in stealthiness today, and Naoki's defenses were probably suuuper low. Below what she'd written before she further wrote [ am strong, are you okay?? hang on im gonna find something to wipe the stuff and make use of my +5 in cleanliness (シ_ _)シ (シ_ _)シ (シ_ _)シ ]
Gaki had negative values in her cleanliness spot, if her room was anything to go by, but she'd just startled her new... friend? And she couldn't risk losing relationship points now! Uhm- tea towel... napkins... Really, Gaki was looking for anything- pantry, maybe? Gaki was going through the kitchen, just, full blown looking for something to right the liquid on the floor.
The sudden noise from the kitchen had Noble bolting up into Sid’s lap before they even opened their eyes. Suddenly with arms full of Skiddo, Sid was left blinking rapidly back into reality. “Gaki???” they called twisting around as best they could to look back into the kitchen. “You ok in there???” Awkwardly they shifted Noble off their lap and carefully stood up again. Ah uh, seemed everything was fine? Or as close to fine was it could be.
Standing at the archway into the kitchen, Sid frowned. “Etto, Gaki-chan….” They mumbled almost more to themselves than Gaki. Reaching up and ruffling their own hair, Sid shifted from one foot to the other— unwilling to step into the kitchen and get their socks wet. Noble was right behind them and had no qualms with sort of side stepping in and sniffing the tiles before licking up some of the berry juice.
There was no use crying over spilled berry juice. Once Gaki had stepped out from the puddle of juice and typed out a response, Naoki breathed a small sigh of relief. They set the glasses they'd been carrying back onto the counter and bent down to get the other cup from the floor. Why Onsei didn't just levitate it back up himself they weren't sure, but it didn't bother them too much. There didn't seem to be any cracks or chips in it. When they straightened back up and saw Gaki fumbling around for something Naoki reached for their phone to type out their words, rather than relying on Onsei to translate for them.
[ I'm so sorry for that, Gaki. v_v I didn't realize you were right behind me. At least I didn't drop either of your drinks. ] They pointed to the two unspilled cups on the counter. [ I can clean it up, if you want to take these and have them? Or...? ] Or not, she was already going for it, wasn't she. Well, if she insisted, they wouldn't stop her. They pointed in the direction of the pantry, miming something like a person drying their hands with a towel. There should have been a couple clean towel hanging behind the door.
Usually they were for laying out under the jars while making preserves, but they'd do.
Sid appeared in the door, followed shortly by their Skiddo who began to have at the pool of juice. Naoki smiled weakly, took pause, and then plucked a bowl from the shelf and set it--and a small amount of not-floor-juice--down away from the puddle. That would keep their hooves out of the mess they were trying to clean. They smiled sheepishly at Sid. [ Hi. Sorry. Being tall and not hearing footsteps has its disadvantages... >_<;; ]
Napkins... tea-towels.... they were her new mission! Anything to clean up the spill! Unfortunately Gaki didn't have an auto-focus button just eyes that only had a singular setting, which meant it was a little difficult to find the key item needed to play the hero of the tragic accident. Amidst her search she paused, noticing the phone angled towards her around the same time she heard her cousins voice. Gaki attempted her best smile at Naoki, reaching over to grab at her phone and quickly typing out a [ it's fine!!! i'll clean!! if i could just find the key item necessary... >:c ] and showing it to Naoki whilst also calling out, "I'm fine, Sid! Just a side-quest in action!"
Okay, okay now that that was out of the way... she could hear the faint trotting of Sid's trusty undersized steed, Noble,, but not even the cute pokemon could distract from her completing the quest! Eyes scanned around once more before noticing what was pointed out to her by Naoki, a helpful neighbour NPC who was even programmed with directions! Gaki was quick to hone in on the pantry and found the object of her desires the tea-towel! A victory chime echoed in her head as she wiggled the teatowel a little in her hand, a small smug expression crossing her face before her eyes flicked once more to the spillage...
Oh... so that was what Noble was doing. "...Nnngh..." Tracking back to where the mess was, Gaki made a face at the mon, puffing out her cheeks a little before waving the tea-towel at the Skiddo, as if that would get them away slightly. Annnd then... she was cleaning, or... at least scrubbing at the spillage. Gaki was not experienced with cleaning spills, and for a minute seemed to just kinda rub in one specific area before deciding the best course of action was to just... keep... going in a spiral pattern. Annoying mini-game, but you can't best SquishGak!
Once she was sure it was dry Gaki stood back up, hand going to her hip as a loud sigh left her, moving her other hand to wipe at her forehead as if that was the hardest task she'd ever had to do. Of course the hand had the tea-towel in it and she accidentally flicked a little bit of the wet juice onto herself. "Victor- eeeek..." Eyes widened and the girl brought the tea-towel back onto the table ignoring her mess up as if it had never happened...
Right.. uh... and then- oh! Milk! And... Gaki grabbed out her phone again, typing once more and showing it to Naoki.
[ don't worry, i refused to let the juice win and your floors are clean once more (҂◡_◡) ᕤ ]
Phone poceted, she grabbed finally at the cup of milk and took a victory sip. Ahhh, the taste of a level up potion was sweet.

Noble blinked at Gaki— and then promptly leaned forward and licked her cheek. There, that should reduce the swelling of her face some. As she waved the towel at him, he frowned but backed up a little for her to clean. “Silly Noble,” Sid’s voice came. “Look, you have some bowl juice now…” The Skiddo glanced down and sure enough found that some had been set out. Leaning forward, he took a happy drink. This was much better than floor juice.
Sid chuckled softly watching Noble. Looking sideways at Naoki and then down at the text on screen, Sid smiled…. And then blinked. Wait— Red eyes flicked up again… and sure enough, Sid registered that Naoki was at least a good ten centimeters taller than them. Oh. Oh wow how did they not notice before? Had Naoki been leaning in when talking to Gaki or had Sid just sort of not been paying attention up to that point. Ah well. A hand reached up and pat Naoki’s head. “It’ll be ok,” they answered.
Gaki’s words had Sid glancing over again— only to clap a hand over their mouth to keep from snickering as she undid some of her work. “Minus one point, Gaki-chan….” They chuckled a little and then slowly stepped out of the archway again to give anyone space if they wanted to pass. Red eyes flicked around the room briefly again taking in the details. They bet they could recreate it in Poke-crossing with enough time. Speaking of which. Sid flicked out their phone and checked their game again. Ah damn, they were gonna lose Ophanimo— “AAAAAAAA!” One had just spawned??? In the house???
Suddenly Sid was seated hunched over, their thumbs tapping the screen of their phone wildly. How had they missed an encounter so close! They were so lucky to have checked! Now if they could just! “GAKIII! HELP! RAID! HERE!” Sid wasn’t even sure if they were speaking Kantonian or Common or some weird broken hybrid as they tapped their screen. "Come on come on come on come on come on come on!!!"
The cousins exchanged a few words, which Naoki registered even if they didn't hear it themselves. From facial expressions it just looked like Gaki was being teased. Her little pout was very silly; enough so that it made their smile a little easier rather than the awkward sheepish semi-grimace it had been. She didn't seem to really get the process of cleaning either. It looked more like she was just spreading the liquid around until it dried...it would probably be sticky, if left unchecked. Well. Naoki could mop tonight. No sense in making her feel like her hard work hadn't paid off.
They blinked at Sid raised a hand to gently pat the top of Naoki's head. Head pats, from what Naoki knew of them, were usually for people shorter than you, if only for the sake of convenience. They felt a little funny having Sid--who was definitely not taller than them--do it to them. Funny, but not bad. Naoki chuckled and fidgeted with their phone, trying to come up with a response, or something, but before they could Sid's attention went back to Gaki and, thus, so did Naoki's, even though they missed her speaking up.
And promptly got juice in her eye. Oops.
Naoki plucked a thin tissue--not suitable for cleaning up spills, but this would be fine--from a box atop the round oak table and held it out for her. Better a sweet berry than a spicy one when accidentally getting juice in one's eyeballs. Look, sometimes you forget to wash your hand before rubbing your eye and end up squinting the next half-hour.
[ Thank you for cleaning, Gaki. I really appreciate it. ] They showed her a response they had already typed out and had ready once she was done. [ I was making tea for myself as well, if you would like something ho ]
Their thumbs stopped typing as Naoki realized that Sid had somehow gotten even shorter besides them. So much, so, that they were seated on the floor. They hadn't collapsed, Naoki could see as much, but they were frantically clicking something on their phone and their mouth was moving very fast. Naoki blinked, looked up at Onsei, and he just shrugged his stubby little arms. I H-A-V-E N-O I-D-E-A. H-U-M-A-N T-H-I-N-G.
<<You're very helpful.>> Naoki sighed, giving a very sarcastic crossing of their wrists in their Pokemon's direction, before returning their attention to the...something happening on their kitchen floor. Trying to be helpful they picked up the untouched cup from the counter and hovered it in what they hoped would be Sid's peripheral--but not too close that any sudden movements from them would cause a repeat spillage. Was this a game thing? Possibly? Maybe Gaki could explain it while Sid was, uh, preoccupied.
Hmph. Her pout only grew in size at Noble's cheek lick, and as Sid noticed her mistake she could only hmph. She was missing chances one after another to raise Naoki's affection points and gain a farmer friend, and like visits in... literally any farming game this one was on a timer. She only had so long left! Eyes flicked to Naoki, who looked to be writing something else and she sipped on her milk with as much grace as a thirsty, growing girl could muster.
Yeah, Gaki was totally a cool girl, had those high stats and everything. Please befriend us, farmer! A message was shown and Gaki grinned, yes!! Plus one poin to Gaki! At the second message the white haired girl shook her head, moving to type back a reply.
[ it was nothing! no tea thnx, milks good! ]
She was about to try typing another message... at least until she heard it. The call of a gamer, the yell of a rarity. Eye's widened, and Gaki pushed her milk onto the counter, turning her attention to her cousin. They were... furiously staring at their phone- tapping? Sid?! Sid what wa- raid?! A squeak left Gaki and the phone, already in her hand switched apps as quick as her touch would allow- raidraidraidraidraid.
Wait- Naoki- affection points- but- raid?! Gaki couldn't type right now, so when face with the loading screen she attempted to shift slightly to give Naoki a better vantage of her phone so they could see what Gaki was doing. "Shut up i'm here!" Was what left her mouth, as her finger moved to target the offending raid monster. Soon, Gaki was imitating Sid, finger stabbing the screen like she'd break it. It was followed quickly by another urgent, "Oi- Switch up your attack!!! You've got more base power than me!"
On screen, a beautiful winged humanoid creature, far removed from Pokemon in the sheer likeness of it to a human, returned attack with a few specific attack animations. One included a circular gesture with her lance like sword that did a considerable amount of damage while others were less threatening but still worth dodging if possible. Her health bar was … infuriatingly difficult to actually lower, but as they got it down after almost three minutes of button mashing, she shined brightly and turned into a small figurine of herself that came down into the Digimon capture screen.
“YATAAAAAAA!!!!” Sid shriek-squeaked both hands flinging upwards (and the phone with it causing it to nearly fly straight up out of their hands whoops ahahahah). Scrambling up again, they were suddenly talking quickly again eyes alight anew. “I can’t believe it spawned in a house; they never spawn at home! This place must be really special! AAAAAA Thank you thank you thank yooouuuuu…” It was… actually hard to determine who Sid was thanking, whether it be Gaki or Naoki, but perhaps both here was the most appropriate.
