The fact that the melanistic Eevee, the "big brother" and "protector," had been captured while the shy, stand-offish one broke out of the pokeball, shattering the man-made tool in the process, came as a massive shock to Fayne. If anything, she would've expected the opposite to happen. The brown Eevee was full of surprises, it seemed. Even with such a defiant spirit, the wild Pokemon looked scared and cornered. And indeed it was. Palila had shaken off the dirt, collected herself, and returned to the battlefield. Together with Gagnier, both domesticated Pokemon posed a massive threat to the low-leveled Eevee. There was no way he could win. It was just a matter of time before he was captured or fainted in combat. Of course, he could have chosen to run away, but he didn't want to leave his brother behind.
Knowing that the monochrome Eevee was the way to his heart, Fayne took a few steps forward and reached out a hand to grab the Pokeball that her new Pokemon had been captured inside of. However, as she leaned down, the still-free Eevee raced between Gagnier and Palila then proceeded to Tackle Fayne. The researcher stumbled backwards and grabbed her stomach. It didn't hurt all that much and it barely even winded her -- it came as more of a surprise than anything. And yet, that didn't stop her Pokemon from reacting defensively. Palila used Leer to silently threaten the hostile Eevee, and Gagnier slithered up and attempted to protect his trainer with a Scratch. The brown Eevee responded to the counterattack by lunging toward Gagnier... then at Palila... then at Fayne... Its attacks didn't land, and for a moment, the trio were confused by the fox's yo-yo behavior. Then it clicked. He was protecting the ball his brother was inside of.
"Hey, hey," Fayne said in a hushed voice. "It's okay. We won't hurt you or your brother anymore. We just wanted--" She stumbled backwards to avoid being tackled again. "Relax. No one will hurt you." Gagnier warbled in disagreement and the Eevee recoiled, as if the lizard's words had physically harmed him. "It's okay," Fayne reassured once more. "If you let me grab that Pokeball, I can reunite you with your brother." The Eevee paused in consideration but did not move. "Or you can join us too." She retrieved another empty Pokeball from her bag and held it out to the wild Pokemon. Both individuals were trembling as Fayne slowly approached the unwavering Eevee. There was palpable tension in the air as the petrologist gently touched the ball to the Eevee's nose and the fox was sucked inside. Fayne and her Pokemon held their breath as they waited to see what would happen.

Valiant continued to trot along, happily tossing about his mane to show off. There really was a lot of Pokemon about. There were too many Eevees to even count, and they weren't all normal colors either. There were a few that were more silvery, though they darted away quickly. And there were a lot that were a more blue grey sort of tone. Interesting! They were still adorable, though it got Sonia curious as to what their evolved forms would look like. Mana huffed as they walked on. Coloration didn't matter, size did! Bigger the better.
Though there was a little Eevee that spotted the huge Eeveelution as she walked by who had the very opposite train of thought. She huffed, tail wagging as she glared down the larger Vaporeon. Her friend behind her whined, pawing at her shoulder. Come on, did she really need to fight? Why couldn't they just play? Playing was so much more fun! But the smaller female darted forward, faintly glowing with energy that increased her speed so that she could ram herself into the Vaporeon's larger flank. Mana barely stumbled, glaring down at the smaller Eevee that growled.
Sonia was caught off guard, watching the standoff between the two Pokemon. At least Mana hadn't started it, but she sure wanted to continue it. Well, even if Sonia didn't like battling, she saw no reason to stop them? Obviously there was some sort of dispute. "Go ahead Mana. I'm not going to stop you." Sonia reassured, patting the Ponyta's shoulder though he didn't seem distressed by the fight. However, the other Eevee that came forward whined and was definitely distressed.
Now, that wasn't a good thing. Sonia frowned, wondering just what she could do. Everyone else seemed to like grooming, and she had a spare brush on her right now. So the blonde dug for it and pulled it out, sitting on the ground and offering the brush out to him. He looked to her sadly, sort of scared until he saw the brush. His eyes widened but eagerly butted his head against it. Sonia chuckled and began properly brushing out his differently colored fur.
And that was when the fight broke out. Sand attacks were launched from both sides, creating a cloud of dust that neither could see through. Though that didn't really matter for the Swift attack that Mana launched, the stars breaking through the cloud and striking into the opposition. The smaller Eevee shook the attack off, darting through the cloud with the intention of striking back. But the Vaporeon had not been where the Eevee thought she was. Head twisting around to look for her opponent when she got blasted with a Water Gun instead.
Mana snickered with her apparent victory, standing taller as she glowered down at the smaller Pokemon. The Eevee didn't like this and ran forward, full speed into the Vaporeon's chest. Mana huffed, shaking herself off before charging into the Eevee with her own quick attack. Now this gave the Eevee pause, the younger Pokemon panting softly.
Seeing this as her chance, Sonia tossed a pokeball towards the weakened Eevee, and then offering another ball to the other Eevee. She didn't want to separate friends after all.
Well, at least one of the two Eevees was captured. That was one more friend to add to the docket! Sadly the female who insisted on fighting broke out, swatting the ball away.
Mana growled lowly and stalked closer, more so she could roll the still intact ball to Sonia. It was a little scuffed up and dirty now, but nothing a good wipe couldn't fix! So she released her new friend, already thinking of a name for him.
"I'd like to name you Brother, if you don't mind that is? You remind me of the feeling one would expect of having a well behaved little brother." She explained, and he cooed happily before butting back against the brush. More pets please? Of course Sonia was weak too giving affection and smiled. But first, what was going on with the female? She sure seemed to be stubborn.
Stumbling around, she jumped at Mana though not as quick as before. Mana took the hit, only to hit her right back with a tackle. And even then the small Eevee got right back up and looked to her friend. Of course he was getting brushed and enjoying it! Then Brother looked purposefully towards his still wild friend, and annoyed with her and her need to always fight anything bigger than her, he yawned. Big, and wide, and very much obvious.
And as everyone knew, yawning was contagious. And the other Eevee yawned before shaking her head and trying to muster another quick attack against Mana. Mana threw up a sand attack to dodge it, and when the dust settled, the Eevee was asleep.

Honestly it didn't take long for her gaggle of eeveelutions to stirrup enough of a ruckus to attract the attention of a few females. Elizabeth watched as the two poked their heads out of the grass and blinked at the one with full on silvery gray hair. She'd always thought Evan had a silvery look to him but it was nothing like the female who was watching the others with interest.
Ena was obviously the first to approach the pair. The flareon was much like Tansy in that she loved meeting new friends and was quite fearless in approaching others. She yipped happily and pranced over to the normally colored eevee reaching out to sniff her kinsman. The wild eevee stared at her wide-eyed then yipped back and excitedly bounced in place. Her friend seemed a little less enthused by the group but she was curious about Evan and Eran, the two both being of an abnormal coloring as well.
The ranger kept her distance allowing the others to get acquainted. She wanted the eevees to feel comfortable around her kits. She watched them for a time noting the differences between the two females. Despite her unusual coloring the silvery one seemed to take things slow and carefully. She watched the others quietly but she was certainly quick. The standard eevee however was a bit of an oddball. She couldn't seem to make up her mind whom she wanted to play with, jumping from one eeveelution to the next.
Liz chose to approach the pair carefully with a handful of berries. She knelt down next to Ena who nuzzled her mother happily. The two females naturally were hesitant but the quirky eevee was quick to accept the berries not too worried about the ranger's presence. The silvery eevee bided her time though and only approached when Liz looked away for a moment to sneak a berry from the pile.
The afternoon began to wane and soon all the eevees and most the eeveelutions looked ready for a nap. Eran though perked up, eager for the approaching night. He nuzzled the two females as his sister watched with a shake of her head. Evan yawned and curled up in Liz's lap, the small blonde eevee having had enough excitement for the day. Ena had begun grooming the silvery female who too yawned. Now the ranger offered up a pokeball and premiere ball to each of them hoping they'd want to come along with her and their kin.

The first eevee took to the pokeball immediately but the second wasn't too sure. She quickly popped back out of the ball, the force of which causing it to burst. Liz pursed her lips but remained calm as she reached for another ball.
"Didn't like that ball huh Eevee? It's okay, I'll let you think about it some more."
The ranger smiled at the silvery eevee and took a step back to let her resettle herself. Ena approached her carefully and gently began grooming the wild eevee. The oddly colored eevee seemed to enjoy the attention and after a few more minutes quieted back down. Liz offered her some pokemon food before showing her a different pokeball, this one blue with a little moon on it. Maybe the eevee would prefer this ball instead.

Maybe the Eevee sensed that Maeve really held no interest in it, or maybe it was just bad luck, but after only one shake of the ball the little brown kit broke free and yipped at her angrily. Maeve sighed, irate, but not angry. Being willful wasn't a bad thing and it did make her a little more interesting than before, but breaking a pokeball was a waste of valuable resources. Maeve reached into her bag and pulled out a simple pokeball with a green cap. While she preferred to not use a rarer ball on a Pokemon she was catching out of necessity rather than desire, it would make the job quicker.
With a good grip on the Field Ball, Maeve tossed it out once more in hopes of catching the Eevee--correctly, this time..
As she and her large metal serpent went along the route, a flash of brown turned her head. Ah, perfect! Senara gave Chanceux a pat and he lowered his head to the ground for her to hop off his back. "Restez ici, cela ne prendra pas longtemps." She reassured and drew out Baby Girl's pokeball. She was, after all, best suited for dealing with a little Normal-type. Senara crept towards the trees to try and see the Eevee that had caught her eye...and blinked, twice, at the sight of it. Holy hell, it was enormous. She knew Snorlax not much bigger than that!...okay, that was in itself the Snorlax being ridiculously small, but it still counted! It was rolling around with a smaller ball of gray fur which Senara couldn't quite make out in the shadows of the trees. Huh. Had it caught a Alolan Meowth? That was what the color looked like most to her...
Wait, no, that wasn't a Meowth at all. When the large Eevee released it's apparent "prey" it sprung back up to full fluffy height, and was, in fact, an Eevee as well! Senara put a hand to her mouth. A grey Eevee--was it shiny?? No, no it's gray was different than the nearly white color of Lune. This had to be a special coloration! Oh, Arciel, your wonders never cease!!~ With a wide grin she reached into her bag and drew out a quick ball. She wasn't about to let that one get away, fight or no fight.
"Optez pour le grand garçon, petite fille! Quant à vous, joli renard--" She tossed Baby Girl's pokeball in the direction of the larger Eevee, who yelped and jumped into a battle stance quickly. The littler, special one, though, turned to find a quick ball flying right for his head, "Entrez dans le ballon!" It smacked right into the fluff on his back, a flash of red light absorbing him into the ball just as a beam of white took the form of a Sableye.
Baby Girl tilted her head. Then, slowly, panned it up to look at the enormous Eevee.
Wow.
Big boy.
The Eevee charged right ahead, shiny golden stars appearing at its sides as it dove in, but they soared right through Baby Girl's body like nothing. With a wide, sharp grin she dove in, clapping right in the Eevee's face to throw him off balance, before going in for a hard swipe. Dazed and disoriented, the huge Eevee didn't even have time to react before a pokeball came down on his back as well.

The silvery eevee was certainly a finicky one. She immediately turned her nose up at the offered moon ball and smacked it away causing it to shatter against a rock. The eevee twitched her tail and smirked at Liz. The ranger frowned and raised a brow as she crossed her arms.
"What? Was that one not good enough for you either?"
Liz inquired of the eevee who began pawing playfully at Ena. The ranger shook her head, maybe the eevee just wanted to stay out and keep playing. She watched as Eran stalked over and teasingly nipped at the silvery eevee before bounding away. Eirian smirked as she came to sit beside Liz and nuzzled her father who was fast asleep on the brunette's lap.
Ena gave a canine like laugh before chasing after her dark son followed closely by the silver eevee. Liz let them play for a bit longer as she dug out another pokeball. Hopefully this time the odd eevee would be ready to rest for the evening and accept this ball.

And once again the eevee rejected the ball and promptly broke it. Liz didn't often encounter quite so picky a pokemon.
"Really? Not that one either?"
The ranger was beginning to suspect the eevee was stringing her along. Three balls and none of them were good enough. Ena and Eran didn't really care, they were happy enough to keep playing with their new friend. Liz sighed as she dug through her collection of pokeballs.
She had great balls, a few ultra balls, a level ball, a couple love balls, a pixie ball, a quick ball, a luxury ball, and a couple fast balls. Elizabeth selected a love ball and shrugged, maybe the eevee would like pink.

Lynnette stopped short in her tracks. Starburst had clearly sensed something. She'd stopped on the road and stared unflinchingly into the bushes. The Umbreon passed Lynn a quick glance, then raced off into the brush.
Lynn quickly swept into a run after her Pokemon, with Wolfram up ahead swerving around to keep in contact between Starburst and Lynnette. When the Umbreon ran too far ahead for Lynn to tell where she'd went, the Rookidee would fly ahead and lead Lynn back onto the right path.
Soon enough, they were deep in the brush.
And to Lynn's surprise, the Umbreon was already deep in combat against two Eevees. From the way they were coordinating their attacks, it seemed that they were friends.
"Good work, Starburst!" She praised the Umbreon. Starburst was turning out to be one of the best, no nonsense members of her team. It was a nice break from Webs' disinterest and Tsunami's sass.
She blinked. Had someone performed a cruel joke and dyed an Eevee silver, or was that a silver Eevee?
Starburst cried out in pain as a coordinated duo of quick attacks slammed into her side, and Lynn switched right back into battle mode and started directing the Umbreon. As it was a double battle, Wolfram likewise dropped down from the sky to begin skirmishing against the Eevees whenever Starburst left them open.
Soon enough, Lynn took out a pair of PokeBalls. A Premier Ball and a standard PokeBall.
