Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
Swarms close at 11:59pm on the last day of each month. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.
The forest was dark; it was a predictable outcome, given the gloomy weather combined with towering trees that would reach out wide with their branches. Nadine eyed the area, noting that there were quite a few Bulbasaur in the area. Perhaps the cover of darkness had made them bold? Whatever the case, Nadine was interested in encountering one, perhaps even having one join her team. Flint, her Fletchling, was flying overhead, taking in the outline of the forest. It was something that Nadine liked to do often, just to assess where she was.
“Come on down, Flint. I want you to look at this. So many Bulbasaur…it really is a wondrous sight.”
One particularly large Bulbasaur caught Nadine’s eye. His eyes seemed to be Flint, as if eager for a battle. The sight made Nadine smile. “Would you like to battle him?” She eyed the wild Pokemon as he now stared back at her; it was a good enough confirmation.
Flint got into position in front of her, his wings flapping as they kept him airborne. “Use Peck.” He swooped down at the wild Pokemon, who tried to dodge out of the way. While mildly successful, Flint still managed to get him on the shoulder, making for a painful but effective attack. The Bulbasaur used Tackle, knocking Flint from the air. “Quick Attack!” After getting his bearing, Fling regained his full speed, circling the wild Pokemon before throwing his weight at him, his beak forward.
“Alright, Flint. Step back.” Readying a pokeball, Nadine threw it at the weakened Bulbasaur.
The Bulbasaur broke free, breaking the red and white pokeball in the process. “You certainly are strong.” It was unexpected, but not disappointing. Nadine rather liked that he had a fighting spirit. He ran towards Flint, who was still flying low above ground, and Tackled him down. The battle continued.
“Use Peck!” Flint swooped up into the air once again, before flying back down, his beak pointed squarely at the wild Pokemon. It hit him on his right leg, and the Bulbasaur lifted it in pain. “Let’s try this again, shall we?” Flint backed up, flying higher into the air as Nadine threw another pokeball at the Bulbasaur.
Gabe had already been knee deep in the Weeping Forest when the Bulbasaur swarm had started. At first he couldn’t really believe what his phone app was saying on the matter. It wasn’t spring yet? What were they doing up??? But it seemed Bulbasaur waited for no one because sure enough, he’d seen at least a few of them from the corner of his eye already.
…He really didn’t need another of the Bulbasaur line. Roselle was more than enough to handle… but since he had taken up a farm in Cherry Town, Gabe had found that… help was very much appreciated. And with a swarm going on and supposedly unique colors to be found… why not.
Gabe had nearly missed the absolutely massive pink and purple creature that actually was a Venusaur somehow. His brain had just… completely overlooked her as something else up until she moved, and even then it took him stumbling back onto his butt to fully comprehend what he was looking at. Well, that was… that was definitely a Venusaur.
She stared at him. He stared back. She stared even as he got up, dusted himself of snow, and grabbed a Pokeball. She readied herself for whatever he was going to release only to stared dumbly on seeing a Venusaur of her own size now staring at her.…. Oh Arceus what an angel was before her…. Roselle, meanwhile, looked at this spectacularly colored Venusaur and frowned. How dare she be so pretty in front of her. Cracking her vine in a z-snap fashion, she decided immediately she was going to show her who was boss. The other Venusaur immediately straightened, kind of bewildered, before understanding this was a battle. Right. This was a trainer and his Pokemon challenging her. Ok.
“Roselle, Leech Seed,” Gabe commanded. The Venusaur cried immediately releasing seeds. The other responded with— Worry Seed instead. Seeds collided, and a few hit each of them. Gabe winced. He probably should have just had Liz or Rep handle this, damn it. Whatever for now. Rose was at least sapping some strength from the other Venusaur, and that was a good start. “Razor Leaf, Rose!” Gabe commanded, and Rose did just that. The other Venusaur winced but took the damage well. A Seed Bomb was launched in response. They each managed to get in a few hits here and there— but something weird happened when the wild Venusaur lunged at Rose this time. The Take Down had both of them stopping then— entirely too close eye to eye.
Gabe wasn’t concerned then. He saw a moment then and was throwing a Pokeball. Too bad for him.

Just one more stepping stone on the way through Arciel, but the Weeping Forest was still quite pretty. Senara preferred caverns to canopies even though the lighting was much better here than underground, and it was peaceful on the main path. Peaceful was dull, though. She was more interested in venturing into the deeper parts of the woods, but that...that could wait, at least until she'd cut through the first time and made it to Ash. Once there she could set out to properly explore this place.
Raye, chill little gremlin of a Meowth that she was, strolled along behind her trainer with a chunk of ice in her mouth, chewing on it just because. Senara adored the little Steel type and had her out specifically to train her up until she could evolve. Having her at her side through the woods just seemed like the right step in that direction. Now, to find a few Pokemon to test her skills on. It would be mostly Grass-types and Poison-types right? Those two were perfect to fight her precious Raye...at least for her, if not them.

Senara almost stepped on it.
Which, honestly, could have happened to anyone, right? She hadn't been paying too much attention to the path ahead, and by the time she looked down, she'd nearly missed the sleeping foot-tall Ivysaur on the path just below her winter boot. She yelped and managed to hop backwards before she stepped on the tiny thing. Oh no. Oh nooooo, it was so small and so cute! And fast asleep! And...if she was doing her leveling math right, way too strong for Raye to fight by herself. Senara tilted her head and drew another Pokeball out from her bag. On one hand, Raye needed the levels. On the other...well, she could get one swipe in, then toss a ball out, and it would still work, right?
"Raye," she whispered down to the little Meowth, who was now staring at the small frog-plant-thing with a wide grin, "Give it a good Fake-Out and make it flinch, and I'll toss out a Pokeball, okay?" Raye, still beaming, nodded, and with a flick of both paws extended her claws. Sloooowly she tip-toed up to the still asleep Ivysaur, bent down in front of it...
A slapped it paws as loudly as it could in its little green ears.
The Ivysaur nearly jumped its height and then-some into the air in shock, startled awake so hard that it didn't even have the mind to retaliate before Senara had thrown the black and yellow Ultra ball at it. She felt a little bad because the ball was almost the size of the darn thing's whole head, but, well, it wasn't like she had a smaller ball to catch it with!

The last thing Adelaide had wanted to do was leave one of the towns, but her darling Primrose was itching to stretch her legs, and practically pleading for the girl to take her out, at least for a stroll- so maybe that's why Adelaide found herself sitting up on her huge Bayleef's back, riding leisurely down the trail- it was a cold day, and so Adelaide didn't feel any need to stop- she just had to keep pushing forwards until Prim decided enough was enough and wanted to go home- which Adelaide totally understand... but there were so many dangers they could bump into!
She just hoped that Prim was able to outrun anything that was thrown their way, the last thing Adelaide wanted to do today was fret or panic over using the wrong pokemon moves, or fear for her pokemon whenever they so much as got hit by a move... so, onwards she went.

Forward and forward Primrose ventured! The Bayleef really wanted to keep going, which she understood- stretching legs and exercise was incredibly important! Adelaide's arms stayed securely wrapped around Prim's neck, keeping herself properly situated, which was thankfully a good idea as Primrose veered to a sudden stop in the middle of the path, letting out a loud cry and alerting Adelaide to possible danger! A confused noise left the girl, who moved to look past Prim only to see...
Uh... what pokemon was that again?! A... flower dino? A- oh! An Ivysaur?! She was standing in the path of Bayleef, curious and almost in shock, as if she'd never seen a pokemon Bayleef's size before. Adelaide blinked at the situation a moment before gently tapping Prim's neck, attempting to get the Bayleef to let her down- which took a few minutes before her feet found solid soil.
Right- okay. Ivysaur was... really cute- uhm... Adelaide just wanted to avoid violence. Maybe- maybe this mon could join her team?! "H-Hello, Ivysaur..." She spoke cautiously, bending down as if to make herself smaller, offering a hand towards the Ivysaur, who butted its little nose right into her palm. Okay- that was good, right? Adelaide moved to gently pat her then, running a hand over her head.
"...Would... you like to hang out with m-my team? Maybe? N-Not like you have to or anything but- but-" She shut herself up and instead went to offer the pokemon a greatball.
At last, Wren had finally managed to make it to the Weeping Forest where they'd heard about some Bulbasaurs. It would be interesting to see if they found any special colored ones this swarm, but were excited nonetheless. "What do you think we'll find, MJ?" Wren mused, smirking as the Ditto skull hair clip just made a soft noise. MJ wasn't the most motivated of Dittos but they loved them just the same. Surely the Bulbasaur would be around here somewhere... they just had to keep their eyes peeled for one.
"C'mon, MJ! Turn into Talon and get a bird's eye view~," Wren encouraged, giggling softly as the Ditto grumbled and morphed into the Rookidee. At least they were getting better at listening now. That was something. Though MJ had yet to move from the top of Wren's head. Sigh. Well, one step at a time.
