"You cosplay?" Lynn's brow creased. Okay, she hadn't expected that, really. "So you are a nerd," she realised. And to figure that this entire time, she'd been struggling to pin down what type of person that Elliot was, other than a complete softie, of course.
Once inside the dressing room, Lynn skipped up to the clothes rack in her potato sack outfit and gasped.
"Oh Arceus!"
If her exclamation of surprise drew the attention of Elliot and Elise, then they'd quickly see Lynn pull out her next outfit and point at it in shock.
"It's a normal dress! And here I was, thinking that they'd never give me one. Actually... this is a really, really nice dress."
Too happy to wait to see what Elise and Elliot were wearing, she quickly disappeared to get changed into the new, awesome dress. Hell yes, she'd rock this!
And when she'd come out, she'd be able to see the disaster that was awaiting Elliot and Elise...
Post by Elliot Sunderland on May 24, 2020 23:33:52 GMT
Elliot beamed at the sight. After what they had just survived, it was like a breath of fresh air. "That's awesome, Lynn!" he said, eyes wide with awe as he looked at the dress. "The craftsmanship looks incredible! Oh, oh, and the patterning on it. The colors are so rich, and they really bring the whole outfit out! And the material, too! Wow, that's gonna be comfy. Oh, man, you're gonna look so good, Lynn!" Any bashfulness Elliot had before was gone, replaced by appreciation for the art of the dress. He really was a nerd, wasn't he?
In place of his own outfit, Elliot found . . . a hand! Before he could say a word, he was snatched into the changing room, presumably to have the outfit's accompanying makeup applied. For a while, all was quiet. And then Elliot came out from the changing room, looking like an overstuffed monstrosity. The poor kid basically looked like a square from the giant plush outfit that had been slapped around him, and the plaid did not flatter him in the least. The facepaint on him made it even worse. Despite this abomination he was forced to wear, he was all smiles and laughter. "I look like an Unovan dollar," he said between laughs. "I can't even be mad, I look ridiculous! And, hey. At least one of us looks fantastic."
He could only hope Elise was so lucky. It'd be showtime soon!
Elise glanced up as Lynn pulled out her next outfit. Purple eyes brightened and shined on seeing it. “It’s lovely!” Elise exclaimed with a small squeak. She couldn’t help but giggle as Elliot went on and on about the dress. Was it maybe because Lynn hadn’t had the best luck so far and he was just trying to hype up the change? Maybe, or maybe he really did just like that dress a lot.
Looking down to see what her next outfit was, Elise squinted a bit. It… looked like maybe some parts were missing, or something? Picking it up, she walked over to one of the attendants and started chatting with them. Oh this was? Wait what? Did she need help? She was pretty sure she was going to need help. The attendant was kind about it at least and assisted her where they could.
As she stepped out of the changing room in the thin sheets and heels, though, Elise was… was very cold indeed. It’s just like a swimsuit… it’s just like a swimsuit… But a swim suit had elastic that gave and contorted to her form and figure. This thing… well….. she was honestly too busty for what should have been tightly wrapped around her chest, and the rest was barely covering everything else. It’s just like a swim suit. It’s just like a swim suit. She could rock this. She was cute.
Looking at Lynn, though, Elise couldn’t help but blush. She was so beautiful…. Incredibly beautiful. Goodness… “That… that really suits you…” she breathed before coughing and glancing towards Elli— “EEK!” Elliot, oh no??? “Elliot???” Elise took a double take, but it was indeed Elliot. “What happened to you…” She giggled a little softly at that. Oh well…. Time to walk the stage, right? Right!

After the previous two runway walks, it's your turn. You enter to booing and jeering. Someone yells "Go back to the pretty girls!" and throws a tomato at you. It leaves a red splat on your green pants.

When Lynn emerged from the dressing room to see Elliot and Elise, she couldn't help but cover her mouth in a failed attempt to hide her amusement. And so soon after Elliot's previous near-disaster...
"Really rocking the make-up, Elliot," she remarked unapologetically.
Upon Elise's question, she grinned. "Turning into a Disney villain, I think."
When it was time to walk the stage, Lynn happily took first place onto the runway. The memory of losing her shoe earlier briefly touched her mind. If something like that were to happen now... well, it would be more embarrassing to look incredible and do something dumb than to look dumb and do something dumb.
Still. She held her head high and strutted onto the runway. The sapphire blues, and the delicate pink and golds of her dress practically glittered in the studio spotlights. To Lynn's surprise, a flower was thrown her way.
And her first thought, of course, was -
Who the hell keeps flowers in their pockets?
Still, that was apparently the first of many flowers, as more were then thrown her way. As subtly as she could manage, she peered into the crowd.
Okay, who's supplying them with flowers? Are fashion show flower suppliers really a thing?
Despite Lynn's best searching looks, she couldn't find the secret flower supplier, and her five minutes of fame were over. Now safely hidden backstage and sneakily watching from behind the curtains, she watched Elise make her own walk.
Arceus, she must've been cold, but in Lynn's honest opinion, her dress wasn't the worst thing she'd ever seen.
"Nice one," she complimented Elise upon her finish. "I'd offer you a jacket, but uh. Well."
Elliot, on the other hand... She would've giggled if she wasn't fiercely worried for him. Elliot could take her jokes and quips, but a crowd of random people was different. If she was honest, she didn't know how they'd react.
Probably just shake their heads and move on. Maybe an awkward silence.
She was wrong.
A shout, detailing some insult of some kind, and Lynn saw a flash of red. From where she stood, she noticed Elliot had something on his clothes. A red stain of some sort, and the remains of a splattered tomato plastered sadly onto them.
Her rage was instant. "Arsehole!" She hissed to herself. She spared a look to Elise that said something along the lines of 'please talk to Elliot after this', then, still shocked and indignant, she hopped off from the stage and slipped into the crowd, searching for the 'arsehole' who did this.
Give or take ten minutes later, she re-emerged with a light smile to slip back-stage again. She'd re-group with Elliot and Elise, however well or badly things were going on their end.

If Elliot was overdressed for this, Elise had the opposite problem. Like, the way, way, way opposite problem. At her eek, Elliot turned to her, only for a very bouncy double take to get him staring holes into the floor. Suddenly, it was the most interesting part of the changing room! Probably because the floor wasn't a very cute, very see-through, and way too much of a best friend to be this curvy Elise. "O-o-oh! H-hey Elise!" Elliot stammered at the floor, before slowly turning to look towards her face. He needed to push past some (surprisingly muscular and toned, holy shit) bicep to get there, and his blush bled through his hideous facepaint. But he made it to eye contact! You go, Elliot! "They're totally trying to pay us back for our swap, huh? B-but, hey! Maybe it's not all bad! You look . . ."
There were a million words Elliot could say here. But Elise was shaped like a friend, so all that came out was a small, pitiful "Good?"
Needless to say, between the bad leg, the overstuffed clothing, and the fact that the poor guy was currently paralyzed by Elise's new look, Elliot had slipped from second on the runway order to dead last. And that meant the crowd was primed and ready for cute girls in increasing states of undress! Elliot, who had his cutest asset covered up in gross paint, didn't fit that bill at all. His face fell at their jeering, and Lynn's mantra of laughing through the hideous outfit started crumbling in Elliot's head. That was a lot easier when it was Lynn laughing with him, and not a bunch of perfect strangers slinging insults. And tomatoes. Elliot could barely feel the impact with all of the clothing he was bundled up in, but he sure felt it in his heart.
He had to keep walking. The alternative of being stuck out here like this was unimaginable. With the corners of his eyes stinging, the outfit physically weighing him down, and the crowd's jeers echoing and compounding in his head, he could only force himself to stagger through the runway as quickly as he could. Even when the curtain closed behind him, he could hear it as clearly as day.
He refused to let himself cry. He'd already come so close to it once before, and was only able to handle it because Elise stepped in for him. He couldn't let every setback this job get waterworks coming on. He needed to be stronger than that. He had to be. Even if people who didn't even know him thought he was a laughingstock for a choice he didn't even want to make. He tried his best to put on a brave face, but how he felt was written in the creases of his brow, the drag in his walk, and even the droop of his hair.
Elliot’s less than subtle reactions had Elise blushing softly and glancing sideways. A hand reached up to play with her golden hair. “Ah, thanks…” was the murmur back. At least they could quickly get to work right after.
Am I gay??? or do I just have a thing for dresses??? I'm bi right? Or wait what am I again??? This thought repeated itself several times in Elise’s mind as she watched Lynn walk out on stage. This was… sort of a silly thought to have considering she had already kissed a lot of girls, but she had dated a boy for two years…. Surely, she couldn’t just swing that hard in the opposite direction, but there was something about Lynn’s walk that just…. Maybe it’s just the dress…actually….. Maybe so. Maybe she was more… in awe of its color and shine and the like. The sheer number of flowers thrown Lynn’s way supported this idea.
Stepping out onto the stage, she took it slow, one foot in front of the other. The subtle slip of fabric across her chest had her blushing, but luckily it didn’t fall to ruin as she made it to the end of the catwalk. It’s just like a swim suit, it’s just like a swim suit…. Posing as cutely as she could, she then turned and started back down the runway. Just keep moving, just keep moving, just keep moving moving moving what do we do we move move move… As she got back stage again, she smiled weakly at Lynn. “Yeah I—“ Her attention flickered to Elliot, and well….
Oh…. She just barely caught Lynn’s gaze before the other girl suddenly went off somewhere. “W-wait— where are you?!” But her attention needed to come back to Elliot again. Now behind stage, Elise stared at Elliot. She… she wanted to say something but couldn’t formulate the words, so instead, Elise stepped quickly to him and hugged him tightly- and unsubtly lifting him off the ground for half a second. “Just a few more, we’ve got this!” she set him down and pulled back… and then unsubtly adjusted her dress again. “Come on, let’s get you cleaned up!” There had to be cuter outfits to come! There just had to!!
Lynnette tried her best to give Elliot a sincere smile once she rejoined him and Elise. She tagged alongside him so that she flanked his side, physically blocking off any potential onlookers. Maybe it'd make him feel safer after such a debacle.
Her face soon dropped into a stony 'I'm pissed at everything right now' default, though. A few minutes passed until she spoke up again.
"Hey... at least nobody else will have to wear that costume," she said, referencing the tomato-stain in a rather dead-pan voice. "You've done someone a service, at least."
Maybe it'd make Elliot feel just a smidgen better?
Once back inside the familiar walls of the dressing room, she almost felt bad about having to take off the glorious dress she'd been given. Or was she still feeling bad about Elliot?
A golden glint caught her eye as she was about to take out her next costume.
"Woah. Is that... an armoured dress!?"
Within a second, she was at Elliot's side in front of the dressing rack, gawking at the piece. "It's a flipping. Armoured. Dress," she said. "Okay, whoever made that is both cool and an absolute madman."
She studied Elliot, gauging his reaction.
"...You wouldn't mind doing another swap, would you? I think I could pull it off," she said. "Plus, I think you'd look way better in a normal dress than this, wouldn't you?"
Arceus, give Elliot strength. Though Elliot found being hugged into submission by Elise wasn't as bad as he feared. After all, he didn't have to worry about looking anywhere (or a lack thereof), the hug was seriously comforting, and-
Wait, was he being lifted off the ground? Oh no.
Fortunately, it only lasted for a second. When did Elise get so strong? "You're right. And even if we've all had some misses, we've also all looked damn good today," Elliot said. "It . . . may've been really hard, sometimes. But I'm sure my luck's gonna turn around any moment now, right?" With that, he headed back to the changing rooms, Lynn by his side. The energy around her was intense, and not in her usual way. Did he really get her that worried?
The changing room, unfortunately, was no turnaround for his luck. A strange, misshapen piece of metal was his outfit to wear, and it was a complete misfire for his body type. Heck, it was a complete misfire for any body type that wasn't bent at the shoulder. It was gaudy. It was poorly put together. It was-
Apparently perfect, in Lynn's eyes? Elliot shot her a quizzical look, but between his own reservations about the outfit and her own excitement, he was all too happy to trade. Besides, so far, Lynn had pulled off pretty much every look she'd been given. Even the birthday party dress was cute on her until she lost a shoe. His last outfit was unworkable, but this? Lynn could do something with this. "It's all yours," Elliot said, a smile on his face as he handed her his dress. Hers was really pleasant and summery, even if the backline was more daring than what he was accustomed to. He wasn't sure red was his color, but he was all smiles as he came walking out of the changing room.
It was time to face the audience with bright new eyes!
…Oh no. That was… that was definitely not what Elise wanted to see. That was definitely not what Elise wanted to see AT ALL. A deep tomato color hit her features as she realized just what it was. Armored dress…. Did… did Lynn not see it was a… a…. a……. She looked at Lynn wide eyed, red faced, and lost. O-oh gods. O-oh goddesses. Oh Legendaries. She had to look away and raise an entire fist full of nails to bite. Oh goodness. At least Lynn traded with Elliot but Oh goodness she was wearing that.
She looked down at her own assigned dress, however, and slowly blushed. W-wow… It was beautiful? She really had no words, only a soft sort of awe. Carrying it into the dressing room, she dawned it and just stared in the mirror for a moment. The deep blues accented her golden hair and purple eyes beautifully bringing out shade upon shade. The way it sat on her was just right, not being too loose in any one form or facet. She felt amazing, powerful, a state of beauty. Warmth grew in her chest, and she perked up as she stepped out of the chaining room and twirled as she stepped out.
“Let’s DO THIS!” Elise called. It was runway time.
...but then you come out onto the runway and completely blow the crowd away. This is the best you've felt all day. People scream and crowd over each other to snap your photo. Maybe they're PNG stans? It's anyone's guess.
Sure, the armoured breast cups were a bit weird but she just had to try it. After emerging from the dressing room, Lynn took a gander in front of the mirror and managed a slightly stiff shrug. It didn't look that bad. An armoured dress could work.
Though this particular dress could definitely use some... improvement, to say the least.
She turned to the others as they made their way to the runway and thumbed at the black poofy material. "Y'know, this dress isn't perfect, but it's given me ideas if I ever decide to do coordinating," she admitted.
And apparently, she'd managed to pull the look off just fine. First of the three on the runway, the audience cheered and applauded. And they did so for Elliot too (and Lynn liked to think that swapping her dress with him had a part to play in that, because boy did she not want to see him endure a repeat of the tomato incident.)
But for Elise? They loved her. Even Lynn found herself clapping from behind stage as she absolutely destroyed the competition. Lynn even found herself blowing a cheeky wolf-whistle as Elise reached the edge of the runway.
"Wow, your friend is really killing out there, Elliot," Lynn remarked. "Is she a celebrity or something?"
Her question was clearly marked with a hint of non-serious amusement, but hell, what did Lynn know?
Post by Elliot Sunderland on Jun 9, 2020 3:05:45 GMT
Against all odds, Lynn was somehow pulling that dress off. Okay, so maybe that was a questionable statement. The chestplate wasn't much better on her slender frame than it was on his, even if her height gave it an actual torso. The bent look to it was pretty awful. And the poofy material looked like a giant carpet of lint rather than a skirt. But as a costume maker himself, Elliot could already see it in his mind's eye. Straighten out the armored chestpiece. Don't give it those almost comedic opera singer breast cups. Less thick fuzz carpet, more of that chic, silky material that was layered against it. And fuck it, throw in a cape, or maybe some shoulder pads. Yeah, now Lynn looked like a badass warrior queen! "Yeah, that fits you better than it could ever fit me," Elliot admitted. "Its given me some ideas, too. Maybe we should talk about it after the show?" Oh no, he was getting creative!
As for Elise? The only way hers could be more fitting was if it was pink. It was pretty much tailored perfectly for her. It brought out her hair and eyes to a degree that she looked radiant. And, most importantly of all, it made her so happy! The way she lit up wearing this dress was heartwarming, and Elliot felt a smile coming on from her infectious enthusiasm. He applauded as she twirled, surely a preview of the attention she'd be getting on the runway. When she declared it was time to go, he was all too happy to fall in step, settling back into his usual spot between her and Lynn. There was no need to do hide anymore. Elise could do this! He could do this! Even Lynn could do this!
And sure enough, the crowd ate them up, though none with as much rapt attention as Elise. The enthusiasm even got to him and Lynn! Though Elliot wasn't so bold as to wolf-whistle the girl, his applause and cheers ushered her back to the edge of the runway. "You did amazing out there, Ellie!" Elliot cheered. "You are so getting on the cover of this photo shoot. Oh, just think what the others are gonna say when they see you!"
As Lynn asked her question, Elliot couldn't help but shoot her a cheeky grin. "You might've seen her around," was all he said, tone half-teasing, half-leaving it open for Elise to explain or wave away as she pleased. Even if they were all friends here, he wasn't going to just bring up Elise's career without her consent! That was just rude!
Speaking of rude, had Elliot finally escaped his string of horrific costumes? Time to check!
This dress was beautiful. Elise felt beautiful. Elise was beautiful. It buzzed in her very essence like an tremor. She hadn’t felt this beautiful even when she’d been fitted for her first PNG idol outit. It was wild. Amazing.
As she stepped out onto the stage with her confidence high from the sheer energy of the dress, Elise was met with absolute applause and praise. The screams and cheers and photo snaps even before she got to the end of the catwalk were music to her, beating along with her rapid, endorphin filled heartbeat. She felt amazing. She was amazing.
Elise paused in mid-walk to pose for a few cameras along the runway and then went sauntering onwards to the end of the line. Standing there a moment, she gave three poses: one with a leg posed forward, side, and then other side. Twirling about, she threw her head back, looked over her shoulder, and flashed the brightest smile she could. The whistle caught her ears all the same and earned a deep red blush in response. Still, she couldn’t help but beam brightly as she walked back.
As she stepped back in, Elise immediately squeaked and beamed. “This dress! This dress Ellie! It’s so amazing! It feels magical!” she beamed before looking sideways at Lynn with that wild smile again. “I am Elise Bell of Pixie Nightmare Girls!” she said with such straightforward euphoria that it was clear she was still riding the chaotic high of it all. “Goodness I want this dress so badly…” Wrapping her arms around herself, Elise twirled again snapped a finger up, and struck another pose.

Lynn raised an eyebrow at Elliot. So the outfit had given her friend some new ideas too? "Sure," she said, curious to know what was on Elliot's mind. She glanced around the backstage, hoping to find a clock. When she didn't, she shrugged. "That'll probably be soon anyway. And I'm starving. Are you starving? We should definitely go out and get something to eat after this," she proposed with a smile.
"A kind of after-work party, you know?"
When Elise returned, Lynn shot her a welcoming smile. "You look magical," she admitted as she looked at her from top to bottom. Elise was absolutely beaming with joy.
Huh... she was Elise Bell of Pixie Nightmare Girls? For a moment Lynn appeared bewildered. Did it ring a bell? Silently, she repeated the words to herself, then a second or two later the light dawned in her eyes. "Oh! You're in that pop group!"
Lynn was feeling slightly embarrassed that she didn't know more about it and she shifted awkwardly. "Is it a pop group? Sorry... I'm still pretty new to Arciel," she said, though her accent would've betrayed that when they first met. "I should really get myself into the scene, shouldn't I?"
Speaking of...
"Oh yeah! Elise, do you want to go out to eat after this? Elliot and I have been thinking..." She glanced towards him. "That it'd be nice to wind down after all the glitz and glamour and all."
Back in the changing rooms, Lynnette was surprised to find that her assigned piece was quite classy! A pleased sound escaped her mouth as she picked it off the rack. It was as if it were destiny. A long coat! One of her favourite fashion pieces!
"How did they know what I like?" Lynn asked aloud, beaming at the dress.
And Elliot's piece? While it wasn't as colourful, it was smart and stylish. "Woah, Elliot. You're going to look like a real showman in a piece like that."
Elise's suit followed on from her last dress with an adorable bow on front. And boy could the girl pull off bows like a Sylveon. Fitting for a member of PNG!
With all three of them looking like this, this was going to be a big finish!
"All right guys!" Lynn clapped and posed grandly in her new outfit, having just changed into it. "We're going to kill it out there! One last time!"
A beautiful longcoat? Check. Snow white high heels? Check. Ruby earrings in? Check.
Lynn flashed a 'V' for victory to her friends before stepping out onto the walkway with them. Cameras flashed, the crowd cheered and applauded, and bouquets of flowers were thrown. Roses, tulips, peonies, lilies, even Gracideas littered the stage.
Posing with her friends, wearing awesome dresses, wearing awful dresses. Swapping outfits. Enduring fashion disasters and basking in stylish successes. All in all, despite everything, Lynn would say that tonight was a pretty damn good night.
And all because Elliot lost a bet.
Lynn turned him, smiling widely. "You know, Elliot? You should lose bets more often," she said.
Post by Elliot Sunderland on Jun 13, 2020 1:49:16 GMT
"Well, all this walking does have me a bit peckish," Elliot admitted. That was Elliot speak for being really hungry but not wanting to make a scene about it. But who could blame him? The outfits were heavy! The lights were hot and harsh! And being jeered by the crowd was exactly the kind of situation that called for a nice, sweet dessert. "Any kind of food you're hungering for in particular? Or are we just gonna walk downtown until something strikes our fancy?"
Speaking of fancy, Lynn! She looked fancy! Elliot's smile widened as he saw just how much she was loving this outfit. "You really do," Elliot agreed, eyes warm and soft. Between the metal dress that got the gears in Lynn's head turning and Elise's perfect outfit, this trip had really been a game-changer for the two girls, huh? In a way, it was bittersweet. Nothing today had reached Elliot how it had reached Lynn or Elise, and frankly, the crowd and designer didn't seem too enthused by him either. That feeling of missing out hurt, but it paled in comparison to the joy in his heart at seeing his friends thriving. Sure, this wasn't his best day ever. But if he got to share in what may've been Lynn and Elise's, that was fine by him. "You know, with how wild the crowd was going for you, I bet the designer'd have no problem with letting you keep it. Between the celebrity endorsement and how well you're pulling it off, they'd probably see it as a win-win!" And if they didn't see it that way? Well, Elliot was totally ready to hit the negotiating table to put the cherry on top of his friend's perfect day!
He couldn't help but giggle a little at Lynn's half-realization. "Pop-punk, technically. If you're splitting genre hairs," Elliot said. "As for getting into it . . . well, if you liked some of the songs I was humming while we were hiking up the route, I'm pretty sure you'd like the real deal versions of 'em." Ah yes, Elliot. A totally not biased source of music suggestions. Then again, Elise's biases would be even closer to home. Look out, Lynn! The deck's stacked against you here!
At Lynn passing on her suggestion, Elliot grinned. Maybe a little sheepishly, since Lynn was totally trying to make it sound like it was both of their idea. He hadn't even thought about food until Lynn mentioned it! "You should totally join us. I think after today's show, you at least earned a toast," he added.
And a toast to the designer who had picked this outfit! Elliot whistled a little, relieved that he was able to end today on a high note. "They really knew our preferences on these, huh?" Elliot asked, admiring his outfit with a big grin on his face. "Between this and the first outfit, I'm starting to think silver's my color!" Lynn and Elise's looked fantastic, too! "We should totally snag a team pose on the runway. One last bit of style for the road, y'know?" With that, he slipped into the changing room, striding out with a confident grin on his face.
It turned out that confidence made all the difference! With an outfit that flattered him, his stage fright and nerves taking a backseat, and the spotlight hitting him just the right way, Elliot was also being let in on the bouquets and applause. He may not've had Lynn's audacity and boldness, but his gentle, earnest charm had an appeal of its own. And Elise's adorable pep would add a third unique taste to this smorgasbord of suit-wearers. It was a real treat for the audience, and Elliot's smile was infectious as he finally stepped out of the spotlight to head backstage.
"You know, if you wanted me to join you on the runway, you could've just asked!" Elliot returned, laughing a little. "Who knows? Maybe I'll even make my return someday. After all, I have to admit, this isn't the last time I'll be going for the spotlight." There was a slight bit of mischief in Elliot's grin. Just what was he planning?
Perhaps that'd be a story for another day. Or a day that had already passed. Thanks, liquid time!
At the suggest to go out to eat after, gave a wild smile and a thumbs up. “Sure! That sounds great!”
Right after this, she went to look over her next outfit and practically melted at the sight of it. The dress had been lovely and perfect and wonderful. But this suit radiated a certain energy that Elise also liked. She worried her hair might be a bit too styled for it, but her energy was still too high to care! She quickly went into the changing room and pulled it on, finding that it fit like a glove. She couldn’t twirl in it, but… it made her feel…. powerful…. Right.
Watching Lynn step out again, Elise once more stared in awe of her outfit— and then in awe of Elliot’s once he was there again! For a grand finale, they’d been given the bestest best clothing huh! (well maybe not because that was definitely the dress but still!). She went out, walking sharply, one leg snapped in front of the other. Cameras snapped pictures. Flowers of all kinds littered the catwalk now. It was wonderful. And Elise couldn’t help but give it her all again.
As she came back to the back again and changed out of her fancy clothes, she did talk briefly with one of the managers about the dress— even slipping in her name and things to eventually get a few numbers to call later. The designer wasn’t exactly there right then, but who knew? Maybe she would get it for free after all.
