Spreading out through the area, Gabe focused on balancing his surroundings with maintaining his psychic connection to each of the Pokemon with him. He could hear Cloud’s cute thoughts directed down at the eggs in his clutch. He could hear Monkey’s focus as the Infernape did his best to focus on distinguishing his surroundings. His nervousness was not unknown to Gabe, but the latter decided not to focus on that as much. He’d either fit in well, or he wouldn’t, and the latter would just take time and effort to accommodate. If nothing else, he was already a Fire type.
It would not be the thoughts of his own Pokemon that would cause Gabe to stop short, however, but the thoughts of something vey posh? Sassy? Something was thinking very aesthetically and being very confident around here somewhere. Gabe paused to squint around carefully. Wait— that was green but a lighter green than usual. What was tha—
As he came through the brush, Gabe stopped short. That was… that was a Meganium, but its coloring was completely different. Special, even. Gabe felt the corners of his mouth quirk a bit as he registered that. ‘Monkey, over here…’ he psychically called causing the Infernape to quickly scurry over to him. Looking up through the brush, the Infernape would drop his jaw in sheer awe of the creature before them.
The Meganium had yet to notice the pair. He was too busy staring down in a pond and using his vines to adjust his antenna. He was feeling rather cute and wanted to make sure everyone knew it. Still, as a crackle of noise came from behind him, he jerked up and turned around to stare wide eyed at the human and the beautiful Pokemon with him. Hmph. Turning around, he gave a small cry and tilted his head to one side. What was such a beautiful man doing around these parts? Surely, he had been admiring him.
<Why, hello there beautiful~!> the Meganium called swaying just a little and batting an eyelash.
The Infernape immediately blushed, slapped a hand over his face, stomped his foot, and then lowered it again. <Don’t flirt with me> he squeaked back. <Gabe, this is not what you showed me…>
Gabe slapped a hand over his mouth to fight back the laugh that threatened to break from him. ‘Well technically he’s an evolution, but still what we’re looking for….’ he answered. ‘And I love your coloring, Meganium….. Very beautiful…’ The Meganium gave a low, sultry cry and chuckled a bit. The Infernape groaned weakly and shook his head. Why did it always have to be the flirtatious ones? Arceus.
‘Would you mind battling Monkey here, I’d love to have you on our team…’ Gabe went on as smoothly as he could. The Meganium frowned at the proposition. Did this human not just say he was beautiful? Why would he want to be dirtied in the heat of ba— Ooooooh. Perhaps an up close and personal connection to… The Meganium’s eyes landed on the Infernape again causing him to blush once more.
<I suppose… for you hot stuff…> The Meganium winked. Monkey groaned softly. He felt… so awkward. Whatever. Whatever. It would be fine. It had to be fine. Stepping forward, Monkey took a fighting stance.
The Meganium immediately threw up a Light Screen that shined brightly against his different coloring. Gabe smirked a little. A Light Screen would work well with special Fire moves, but he knew that Monkey had…. ‘Flame Wheel’ was the psychic order.
Coating himself in a blaze of power, the Infernape leapt forward sending a crashing fist through the screen and circling hard into the Meganium. The latter staggered and stumbled clearly startled by the move. Shaking his head, he shined a bright green, a Sweet Scent that would keep the Infenape close for a— Before the Meganium could finish the ploy, the Infernape used a Close Combat that smashed hard into his face and chest knocking him all the way back off his feet. He struggled and scrambled as he tried to get to his feet. In the seconds in between, as Monkey caught his breath, Gabe grabbed a Heal Ball. Raising it and tossing it at the Meganium, Gabe waited.
Meanwhile, his eyes trailed back towards Cloud and the eggs. The Dragonair was still doing a rather good job of keeping them safe and comfortable. Good good.
In a flash, the Pokeball snapped open, and the Meganium was free again. A soft sassy cry escaped from him as he made a face back at the Infernape in particular. Gabe felt his lips press together before quirking up in a smirk. At least they knew the Meganium could take a hit. Still, as the leaves kicked up around the Meganium and shined a bright green, it was apparent they were in for it now.
‘Fire Spin to mitigate it any way you can’ Gabe mentally ordered. A soft noise escaped from Monkey as he once again shined with red energy back, kicking up some fire in the process. Leaves came grazing forward but were slowed by their sharp ember counterparts: a clash of burn. Even as the leaves grazed through and cut Monkey some, however, he took it better than not.
‘Mach Punch into Flame Wheel’ Gabe ordered right after. Monkey wasn’t too pleased to get in close to the Meganium again, but he’d only have to be for a moment. Summoning up some Fighting Power, he went charging forth sending a fist hard into the Meganium’s stupid face before burning bright and spinning in a circle of Fire to do even more damage. The Meganium yelped at the punch and the flames and crashed down sideways.
Grabbing an Ultra Ball this time, Gabe tossed it at the downed Pokemon.
Jazz didn't have long to go before they saw what appeared to be a smaller Bayleef in the distance. "Look over there, Saito,"Jazz murmured, gesturing over the the Bayleef that seemed to be quietly munching on some berries. Not wanting to alarm the Bayleef, Jazz put a finger to their lips, signaling for the Raboot to be quiet. If the Bayleef wasn't going to attack, Jazz saw no need to initiate a battle right away. It was pretty lucky finding a Bayleef, and Jazz wasn't going to let this one escape. Throwing a Quick Ball at the Bayleef, Jazz waited to see if it would stay in the ball while Saito looked on, ready to act in case the ball did fail.

Gale would be the first one to spot the Bayleef and swooped down to inform Wren. The action would startle the Bayleef who opted to try and hide behind a bush. Of course, given his large size this wasn't exactly successful, much to Wren's amusement. Daya squirmed in Wren's arms before they let her down, curious about the Bayleef who wasn't all that great at hiding. Only after the Litleo did so was Wren able to see how beautiful the Bayleef was, and such an unusual color! Throwing a Quick Ball at the Bayleef, Wren told Daya to go investigate. If nothing else, the Litleo could give the Bayleef a good fight should he escape.
Koray almost missed the strangely colored Bayleef as he sped past them, in a hurry for some reason or another. It would be Elanor that would act first, using an Ember that was enough to cause the Bayleef to pause with a soft cry. That had hurt! Couldn't they see he was busy! Growling back at Elanor, the Bayleef was about to try and make a hasty retreat once again when he was hit with another Ember. The second attack made the Bayleef stop and turn around to confront the pesky Litwick. Elanor tried to explain that she had only been trying to get him to stop but by that time, the Bayleef had already made up his own mind and used Razor Leaf which was promptly burned up by Elanor's flame. Elanor used Ember once again, giving a soft cry before Koray took the opportunity to throw a Nest Ball at the Bayleef. "Shh, you did well, Elanor, don't worry." he encouraged the Litwick, hoping that the Bayleef would stay inside the ball. If not, well, Rowan could always confront the Bayleef in Elanor's stead.
