Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
Swarms close at 11:59pm on the last day of each month. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.
Freya had heard of a group of Snom gathering around a certain area in route 7. She never usually tried to find a certain pokemon, but whenever she first saw these pokemon, she fell in love with them. They were cute and adorable, but most importantly, they were exactly what Freya was looking for in a pokemon. Although they were small and weak as a lesser stage pokemon, they could bloom into something beautiful. This aligned with her philosophies as a trainer and pokemon. So, she waited in the area, hoping to find a Snom.
Senara had no real need for another Ice type, let along a Bug. Bugs weren't strong to Fairy nor were they particularly useful in a lot of cases. But...Snom? Snom were ever so slightly different. Their bodies were made of beautiful crystal-like ice, and they were simply the cutest little bugs she'd ever seen--not that she had ever seen one in person before, but she had seen plenty of pictures. Galar wasn't too far from Kalos, either, so on occasion people would come back from vacationing there and talk about how cute the little buggers (hah) were. Senara wanted to see for herself if they were as sweet as the hype lead her to believe. If not, she would be out in this freezing, windy path for no good reason. She didn't even want to go to the forest. No, this was all for Snom.
What a silly name, though. It was known as Frissonille in Kalosian, which was a little silly to say but not too much so, but...Snom. Snom Snom Snom. Heheheheh.
There was a rustling in the snow, and Senara took some slow steps closer to where she had heard the sound. It would be hard to find the little guy in all this ice, wouldn't it. She pursed her lips together. If I were a foot-high bug made of ice, where would I b--
She felt something very cold on her ankle.
Senara looked down. On her ankle, thankfully insulated by thick winter boots, there was a spine-ey, shiny (not in the literal sense but still quite shimmering in the sunlight), wriggly little bug. It was rubbing against her boot like a cat, its mouth on the snow built-up on her sole and the steel-toed front of it. It was eating the snow on her boot. Senara only blinked twice, staring down at it. Oh. Oh no. It...it was so dumb, it was trying to eat snow off of her, a human--a predator, in a sense--instead of anywhere else that was safe and had snow. And it didn't even seem to notice her. It was just nibbling away on the ice and snow like a happy camper. She knelt down, careful not to move her foot, to get a better look at the Snom. The very stupid, very hungry--from the looks of it--Snom.
It hasn't even noticed me, has it.
It's so dumb.
...I love it.
Senara reached into the pocket of her winter coat, withdrawing a ball that was deep-teal in color and lined with black decorative "netting" lining the lid. She pushed the ball against the head of the Snom. It didn't even respond, didn't even make a sound or wriggle away--it just got suck up in a flash of red light, and the ball began to shake.
Sid had been on their way home when they had heard of the Snom Swarm that just so happened to be on the route they were headed down. They liked Snom. They were cute and fuzzy and adorable looking, and Frosmoth were beautiful. It could probably help out on the farm keeping other animal bugs away or something as well as being the statement for a lot of fashion to come. They loved this idea.
And thus, Sid had slowed in their trek homeward to search around for these little guys, hopeful, interested, questioning. Would they be lucky enough to meet one? Battle and catch it?

Aster did a bit of back-tracking to look for an interesting Pokemon she'd heard was swarming around Route 7: Snom. The tiny little ice bug seemed to be fairly popular, and she wondered if it might be of some use. Bug-type and Ice-type Pokemon were strong against Grass-type Pokemon, naturally, but maybe if she got one it would help her repel other bugs from her farm, or could help her fill in gaps on her team with its interesting type combination. She wasn't sure any other Pokemon was quite like Snom in type.
She'd brought along her Litwick, Calendula, hoping for a quick fight and a slight bit of extra warmth from the tiny candle Pokemon's flame in this cold, unforgiving weather. He sat on her shoulder, steadying himself by hanging on to the collar of Aster's fluffy coat with one stubby hand. They looked around, hoping to see a squirming friend soon.

Marcus was never one to waste an opportunity, and it seemed that the cold weather was giving these little bugs, Snom, a chance to swarm. While they might not be what he needed just now, they certainly were quite interesting in many respects, and he had neither a ice nor a bug type Pokemon in his collection, so they might well have a place in his team, after he had succeeded on his plan to challenge the fire gym at ash. A bug/ice Pokemon was not the thing you wanted against fire-types, though. Not at all. Even so, he took some time to search his surrounds for the little bugs in order to catch one or two.

A tiny caterpillar inched into view, barely visible aside from the glint of light off of its spiny back. It had the cutest tiny face and seemed to be just looking for some tasty patch of snow; it settled down suddenly next to a big snow bank and started munching quietly, looking like it was oblivious to everything around. Aster crept closer and closer, hoping to not scare it away. Calendula leaned in, watching carefully, ready to alert Aster if the Snom seemed ready to flee.
Aster got within a few feet of the wild Pokemon, and it turned around suddenly, startling Aster into freezing in place as though that would make her suddenly invisible to the Pokemon. Calendula tensed up too, not sure what to do to prevent the Pokemon from fleeing, but the Snom just as suddenly turned back and kept munching on the snow instead.
Blinking in surprise, Aster decided to just toss a Luxury Ball at the Pokemon, hoping it wouldn't be too upset at missing out on its snow snack.

Marcus was enthused to find a Snom so quickly. Not only that, but it was eminently unperturbed by his presence, while several of his compatriots fled from the sight of him immediately. Perhaps that was wiser when it came to many large predators in this ecosystem, but this Snom's docility was Marcus's opportunity. He carefully walked up to it, making sure to not make any movement that might prove to it his predatory nature, and then, finally, threw a poke-ball. Hopefully it would acquiesce to the capture, and he would have a new Pokemon. A shame that his budget had not extended to a luxury ball for it; he had to spend much of his funds on caring for his new egg, as fine a prize as it was.
The sparkle of sunlight dancing atop of the pale white sheets of snow was always a sight to behold. Winter was always beautiful to look at and often captured Amyrie's whimsy and creativity. A stray Pokemon equipped to handle the snow would dart about, quick to hide in what little vegetation remained. The distant call of a chilly predator who failed to capture their prey. It was all perfect.
But trudging through densely packed snow that reached half way up her shins lost its charm after a grand total of two minutes. The local announcement of a Pokemon called "Snom" had been interesting to say the least. She had never heard of the creature, but just a quick glance was enough to make her fall in love. What an adorably stupid looking face! She could only imagine what sort of creature it would evolve into!
Her excitement alone had been enough to send her bolting to Route 7, but the fire in her engine petered out the moment she realized the road wasn't plowed. At least, not in the area the news had reported the swarm.
One hand tugged the fluffy collar of her winter coat closer to her chin, while the other arm held a small egg closely. The egg had been an impulsive purchase back when she was in Kanto and had, unfortunately, left her rather short on cash. The charming spokesman assured her that the Pokemon would be worth every Pen she had spent, though had been tight-lipped on just what was inside.
Recently, she had felt the soft jiggle from within and even a tiny whimper of the creature within. Even still, she expected there were still a few more days before she'd be the proud mother of... whatever was inside.
After her leggings were soaked and the chill rattled her bones, she had finally caught sight of a large, gnarled oak tree. Along the dark, dried out bark a cluster of the helpless looking Bugs were nomming away at the roots. All but one had noticed her approach and immediately scattered. Some high into the tree, the others dove straight into the snow, blending into the whiteness and effectively disappearing.
The only one unfortunate enough to not notice continued happily chomping away at the tree, not a single care in the world. Then again, even if it had wiggled into the snow, this one had a strange, sun-burnt color to it. Between it's apparent lack of situational awareness and the bright coloring, it was a shock that the poor thing was even alive. Dumb-luck seemed to be a good descriptor for it.
"Well, if it ain't me, a Spearow will certainly get you," Amyrie chuckled to herself as she plucked a pokeball from her belt.
With an elegant flick of her wrist, she sent out her partner -- a Ralts. The Psychic type landed lightly on the snow, too small to even sink into it, and then let out a soft cry.
The battle had been quick. Ralts had earned a surprise attack and carried that momentum through. Despite the type disadvantage, it wasn't long before the Snom made a face that looked like a wince and began wiggling backwards.
Seizing the opportunity, Amyrie snatched an empty pokeball from her purse. She carefully balanced her egg in the crook of her free arm, while her other hand dove straight into her bag. Once she had yanked out a red and white sphere, she planted a small kiss atop the ball -- good luck! -- and then chucked it straight for the weakened Snom.
