What should drop down from one of the crystalline trees but a Snom! Sid had been walking around squinting at the white-against-white that was the snow covered area, not seeing anything, when it just dropped down right in front of them. Eye contact made. It blinked at them. Sid blinked back. It wriggled. Sid shifted from one foot to the other and then took a step back. A strange cry-like laugh escaped from it, and a small smile pulled on Sid’s face. “What a strange creature you are…” they chuckled reaching forward to try and—
“Ow…” Sid blinked surprised that such a friendly Pokemon would bite them. Well… well they supposed it was wild but still. Uhm, hm. They supposed a battle was being asked for in this case. Shifting their hand to their front shirt pocket, they pulled out Nurse’s Pokeball. Everyone else had a Type disadvantage or were underleveled (or in a certain electric asshole’s case over leveled) for this, so they supposed he would have to do.
Nurse appeared in a flash and blinked surprised. “Nurse, I know you run support, but we’re up against a strange foe, please use Hyper Voice…” The Audino blinked before looking at the Snom and just… doing that. Fishing out a Luxury ball, Sid was quick to toss it at the Snom.
The stars had it all planned out for Eri today, she was to go down to route 7 and go on an adventure to find something that... they hadn't made very clear- but Eri had Umbra by her side, taking in the surroundings and keeping pace with Eri. Since her eggs, Umbra hadn't had much of a chance to go out much, and truthfully was enjoying just stretching her legs and getting out there! Route 7 truly was blessed by the stars.
Adjusting her skirt, she turned to Umbra and gently ran a hand over her coat, "Hopefully the stars haven't sent us on a wild shimmer chase, Um!"
Adian was truly a man possessed as he nearly sprinted through Route 7, camera gripped in his hands. The night before he had heard of sightings of those rare colored pokemon he had come to so desperately seek out. Just a whisper heard in passing at the hotel he had slept in the night before. Supposedly oddly colored Snom - a pokemon he had had to look up on the internet - were spawning in great numbers along the route.
An excited and mostly sleepless night was spent in his hotel room as Adian would gather his supplies. Most importantly he made sure his camera was charged, packed correctly and extra room in its' storage should he stumble across one of the exotic pokemon.
As the first light the next morning he would leave Birch City and head back onto the route. Every passing trainer he saw Adian would stop and ask if they had encountered the pokemon he sought. The single one who had encountered a shiny seemed incredibly put off by his behavior and refused to show it to him, leaving the red haired man no less excited as he ventured on.
This was his journey and mission to find the different colored pokemon and no sourpuss would break his spirit!
When Marley had heard that Snom had been spotted on Route 7, it would have been stupid for him NOT to go and check it out. With Maggie floating over his shoulder, the pair of them were looking out for any sign of the ice bugs. Marley hadn't seen one of them since he lived in Galar, and if he could get a little piece of the homeland for himself, he was certainly going to get it.
Marley had almost missed the little thing as he was looking around. Mainly because Snoms were white, and resembled ice. So, one couldn't blame Marley for almost missing the red Snom. on the path. Marley stopped and looked at it curiously. "What the..." he muttered, looking at it. It was quite large. Was it a rare variant of some kind?
Marley smirked. Well, time to catch it! "Maggie! Mythic Fire!" Snom was an ice and a bug type right? Double weakness for the win! Snom tried to retaliate with a powder snow, but both the ice bug, and the snow, was engulfed by the powerful fire Maggie unleashed. He didn't even wait for the flames to die down before he threw a pokeball at it.
One step, then another, for a brief moment Eri thought that the stars had sent her somewhere for no reason at all- and Umbra seemed to be getting bored. She lazily had begun flicking fire upon plants that the duo passed, only for Eri to quickly stomp the little flames out and scold the Ninetails. Umbra was annoyed- first being dragged away from her babies, and now this! Eri had another thing coming if events didn't start happening- and soo-
Umbra almost tripped on a huge red pokemon on the ground, letting out a loud whine as she trotted back a few steps and called out to Eri, who'd fallen behind marvelling at her surroundings. A loud gasp left the twintail girls mouth before she rushed up to the Snom, who stared up at her and Umbra, confused. Itwas so pretty- surely this was what the stars had meant, when leading Eri here!
Well, now Eri just had to catch it! She glanced at Umbra, who was practically itching for a fight and to let her fire free at this point- but Eri had other ideas. "Umbra, hypnosis!"

It hit right on the spot, sending the Snom backwards a few beats before she almost immediately fell asleep! A loud whoop left Eri's lips before she fished out a pokeball and threw it at the Snom!
It didn't stay?! Stars, what did you want from her? Umbra let out a huff, annoyed, and Eri followed that up with her own sigh. Right, she was going to have to use an actual move on the Snom, okay! She could do this, probably, and the Snom hadn't woken up yet, so if she just...
"Umbra!" The ninetails looked back at her, blinking, "The stars predict you'll use flamethrower!" Umbra let out an excited cry, her two front paws hitting the ground in a celebration before leaning forward and letting forth a burst of fire, right at the Snom, Eri quickly threw another ball straight after- she couldn't risk anything!
Tau didn't really plan on getting another pokemon for his team, but he was already here and the swarm was in sight. Might as well pick one up and see what happens. If anything, it's good battle experience for the impossibly spiky druddigon his mom had sent him. She had named him Abioye and said he was shy -- he needed to see the world to gain confidence. Even after Tau said he's not her pokemon's therapist, he still took the dragon type in.
He released the large druddigon from his pokeball, "Hey Abioye," Tau said, carefully patting his arm between the spiky scales, "Let's get you in some practice. These little things should be a good first battle for you. So pick one and attack."
Abioye hesitated, shifting uncomfortably in position. Tau encouraged him again, and finally the large dragon type began to look around for a target.
Adian would nearly squash the tiny Snom that would appear before him, stumbling over his feet to avoid injuring the pokemon that was rather well camouflaged in the light dusting of snow and grass underfoot. Much to his disdain the pokemon was of normal color and seemed rather angry at almost being trampled. Dejected Adian would make an effort to simply leave the area and head back home when the feeling of freezing wet his his ankle.
The Snom was having none of the perceived attack and was blowing powdered snow at Adian. "Hey, I'm sorry... It was an accident." Adian said apologetically, hoping his tone and posture would be enough to quiet the pokemon and allow him to continue on. Once again the Snom would attack Adian's ankles, causing him discomfort.
Seeing no other option he would simply grab the first pokeball in his pocket and send out his Sylveon, the fairy type cooing happily as he was released from his ball. "Sylveon, quick attack please... I'm getting cold." Adian said, annoyance in his tone.
His pokemon would happily oblige, the lightning fast move knocking the Snom back and causing it to teeter back and forth. With no quick retaliation Adian realized with horror how weak and young the pokemon was that he had so carelessly attacked. Realizing that if he let the poor thing pass out in the grass here it was likely to suffer from another possible squishing. With a wave of guilt the man would fish a great ball from his travel pack and toss it at the Snom who was whimpering sadly before him.
Jazz hadn't seen anything like these Snom but... they certainly looked... interesting to say the least of things. Besides, it would be a good chance to train some of his younger Pokemon. The Pidgey he'd caught, Feather seemed to be interested enough in the bugs. Now if only he could find these caterpillar things. "Tell me if you see anything, Feather," Jazz called to the Pidgey who chirped in response. Good, the sooner they could catch this and go home, the better. Besides, he'd promised a few friends that he'd raid a dungeon with them and didn't want to be late. Of course, it seemed that it was easier said than done to find a Snom in this supposed swarm.
It was sheer luck that Feather spotted the tiny little Snom. A few chirps were enough to alert Jazz that she had found one after all before diving down to it. Of course it was hiding behind a few bushes which made it a bit problematic for Jazz to reach it. This though? This little bug didn't seem like it would hurt anyone. Well, that was the initial thought before it blew a Powder Snow at Jazz's face. Fuck, that was cold!
Feather didn't like seeing the aggressive Snom hurt Jazz and used a Wing Attack, sending the little bug flying into the bushes behind it. Of course, this didn't put off the Snom right away and tried again with another Powder Snow aimed at the Pidgey this time. A Quick Attack was used to dodge before this time, a Gust was sent towards the Snom. That was enough to exhaust the bug out before Jazz threw a pokeball at it while Feather flew nearby just in case the bug broke free.
