Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
Swarms close at 11:59pm on the last day of each month. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.
Jedah had been sitting in a cafe in Birch City having a nice lunch, the newly-evolved Brutus at his side when he'd overheard a pair of passing trainers talk about the local swarms. A few of them he didn't much care for - he wasn't a fan of bugs, or bears or whatever Pawniard was - and although he was curious, he wasn't curious enough to run off and go looking at the swarming areas right that second. He eventually would, curious at their "strange colorations", but not now. So he'd returned to his meal, fully intending to finish it when the words "stupid-looking bird pokemon on Route 1" drifted by his ears and his interest was piqued.
The trainers had disappeared into the crowd before he'd had a chance to ask them about it - or why they had such a low opinion of birds - but a bit of digging gave him the answers he sought. A Pidove swarm on the route just outside the city, and there certainly were a few odd colors mixed in with the bunch, but that seemed to be typical of the Galar region, supposedly.
Jedah didn't mind, though. He absolutely didn't, and that was how he found himself strolling along the path, Brutus beating his wings to keep himself aloft as they scanned the area for the strangely colored pokemon. Despite having evolved into something much larger than his last form, that didn't keep the bird from keeping an ever-vigilant watch for anything that might pose a threat to either himself or Jedah. Some things never changed.
It didn't take too long before something fluttered across their path, and Jedah found himself staring at a small Pidove pecking at something or other in the dirt. Brutus immediately spotted it and soared to a landing in front of it, dwarfing the bird to an almost comical degree. The Pidove didn't seem to notice or, if it did, it didn't particularly mind, and simply went on pecking and enjoying itself until Brutus opened a wing and gently thwacked it on the head for attention.
The Pidove stood there for a moment with each eye going in an opposite direction before craning its head up to peer at the Corvisquire in front of it. Its beak opened wide, but... no sound came out. It just looked at Brutus, who was currently puffing himself up big and strong-looking, dropped its head down and began to peck at whatever it could between Brutus' little bird toes.
It was a little stupid, but Jedah loved it all the same. Although Brutus turned to give him a look that was more or less asking for help on what to do, Jedah was already fishing out a Quick Ball to toss at the odd bird.

Sai was browsing, checking the local news while he waited for an email. But it was browsing through the news that he saw something about a swarm update? He raised an eyebrow, curiously tapping on the article to give it a quick read. Pokemon were swarming on the routes, one of them being the one nearby. Route One was being swarmed by Pidoves? And their evolutions of course. Though, Sai would be happy with just a Pidove. He was still getting familiar with Kushina and Seri, but as a Ranger he would need a full team in order to some day reach his full potential.
Why not start with another flying type? He did have a particular fondness for birds. Smirking his cell was pocketed and he was already skating off to Route One.
Granted, his skateboard was sort of useless once he got there, though that didn't deter Simon. He stuck the skateboard in his bag, the last quarter sticking out of his bag as he began to walk through the plains. The occasional bird call whistling through the air. If he couldn't find one, then maybe one would come to him instead.

It happened almost as quickly as he had anticipated, with the sheer number of Pokemon on the route it was bound to happen. After one of his calls, there was a coo in response as well as the fluttering of wings and the rustling of a bush.
The young man quickly squatted down to make himself appear smaller, even hunching his shoulders together as he looked around for the Pokemon in question. It almost startled him as the coo came from beside him, and a very unexpectedly green bird hopped out from the bush where it had been pretty hidden. Sai tensed, startled at first but quickly relaxed as he slowly reached into his pocket for the small bag of bird seed he carried on him at all times.
"Hi there little darling." He cooed, taking a pinch of the seed and sprinkling it on the ground in front of him. Of course the interesting looking bird couldn't resist and hopped forward, already pecking apart a seed and greedily swallowing the morsel.
Sai smirked knowingly, already reaching into the bag again to put some bird seed in his palm which was then slowly offered to the bird. Spotting the hand that was now suddenly in front of it, the Pidove hopped back twice before tilting it's green eyed gaze at the human.
"Shh. It's alright. Look." Sai soothed, tilting his hand to show off the bird seed. "See?" He offered, holding his hand still and even going as far as to breathe shallowly to limit his amount of movement.
The very green bird tilted it's head one way, then the other before hopping forward and taking another seed into her beak.
"There ya go. See? Totally harmless." He cooed, still holding quite still and letting the bird get distracted in the food. Then oh so slowly, oh so gently he stroked a single finger over her wing. It twitched at the sudden contact, but otherwise kept eating. "What an interesting little girl you are. Did someone do this to you?" He asked, looking over the green feathers. Not all of them were green, there was still brown bands on her wings. So this was natural? He'd have to look it up afterwards.
"How about you come with me darling? You can have all the bird seed your little heart desires. And I have a Fletchling you could be friends with. How does that sound huh? You wouldn't have to be alone anymore." He smiled softly, letting the bird continue to eat the seed from his hand as he took out one of the pokeballs from his pocket and gently tapping it to the cross eyed bird when it looked up at what he was doing.
Specially colored Pokemon, even ones as plain as Pidove, were still rare and spectacular enough for one to venture out in a thick fog to find one. Maeve had a flashlight to help with seeing through the soup-thick air around her, her long hair tied back to keep it from being thrown about by the brisk wind. She liked having time to her own thoughts. At the same time, the pair of eggs in her pack were a heavy reminder that she was here for more than just a nice walk.
Come out, come out, little Pidove...I hope you're a special color...
Even if she only found a normal Pidove, the correct amount of care and breeding could make it a viable member of her team. They were classified in the flying egg group, yes? So then they could be a good parent for a number of rarer Pokemon down the line, and she did like the games of chance that came with breeding egg moves and other special qualities into Pokemon for future uses. It was fun and a good mental exercise, and the Pokemon didn't mind it--they got a lot of attention and care on top of siring plenty of eggs to see find their own trainers down the line. Nobody lost in these situations.
So all she had to do was find one of the little birdies, and see if the fates were smiling on her especially brightly, despite the fog.
With careful steps Maeve pursued the sound of wings through the fog, and spotted a bird-shaped shadow moving towards her, likely drawn in by her flashlight. Her hand hesitated at her waist, over the spot that Attie's pokeball sat. Hm. If it had any Flying-type moves then Attie would be at a disadvantage. She could use Spike but doing so might be overkill--he was at a much higher level'd than Attie was. What was a battle without a little risk. She took Attie's pokeball from off of her belt and waited until the Pidove was in sight..
Alas, as the Pidove became clearer to her, it was obvious that it was a simple, unimpressive-colored one. Oh well. It would still have its place in her party, one way or another. "Attie, get a quick tackle in.".
She tossed out the pokeball with a gentle flick of the wrist. In a flash of white light the form of one adorable Turtwig took shape, and just as the Pidove took notice of her, Attie was charging right for it. She landed a solid hit right into the bird's center-mass, knocking it down. Unfortunately for her, it did have a Flying-type move in its roster. It got back to its feet and began to beat its wings, whipping up a strong gust of wind that struck at Attie's body, hurting her a fair bit. Maeve grimaced slightly. Grass has so many type disadvantages, but she still loved Turtwigs so much, so here she was paying for that.
Oh well.
"Another tackle, Attie, and we'll call it there!" Maeve commanded, and at her call Attie gave another charge into the Pidove's chest. With that Maeve tossed out an empty pokeball in its direction..

She'd heard tales of a swarm of bird-pokemon gathering along the route leading out of the city, and with little to no flying-types on her team she thought it would be a good idea to try and at least catch one, now that they had made themselves readily available. So she's out here now, equipped with a pokemon that had a decent type-advantage (which also, electric-type - she needed to find some of those as well, eventually) although she knew the very real possibility of befriending it.
It isn't long that she's wandered along the route before she hears the telltale cries of a group of Pidove crying their own names - was it a flock? - and she makes her way towards the sound now, mentally taking stock of the pokeballs she had on her and debating which would be the best choice.

Eventually Faolan's attention was caught by the sound of a gentle coo behind her, and she turned to see a Pidove pecking calmly at the grass in search of food. There were a few more pokemon behind it, some of varying color, but this was one was close enough for her to interact with and potentially catch. Given how ... chill it seemed to be, perhaps carrying an Eiscue hadn't been a necessity, but it was always good to have a backup plan.
Slowly, she reached into her pack and drew out a pokeball. The bird seemed distracted, so much so that it turned its back fully on her, giving her ample time to aim her shot and throw the pokeball as far as she could at the flying-type. It turned its head just before the ball hit the mass of its body with a soft plunk, and it only had time to let out a coo of surprise before it was being sucked into the capsule and out of sight.
It was a good thing Julia had brought an umbrella (red, like most of the things she owned), for when she set out on Route 1, it was raining. Honey was tucked safely away in her Poké Ball, and Shadow had disguised himself as a Pidove perched on Julia's shoulder since he and Julia had overheard someone in Birch City talking about a Pidove swarm on the route.
And it didn't take long to find said swarm, flitting about under the shelter of the trees, some picking at the ground for food. Julia's eyes widened when she saw some of different colors mixed in among them. "That's so cool," she said to no one in particular.
None of them seemed to have noticed her yet, so Shadow imitated the call of a Pidove in an attempt to get one's attention.

One of the green Pidove poked his head up when he heard Shadow's call and surprised the Zorua and his trainer by not hopping or flying but running over to them. He let out an excited coo and raised one wing in greeting. Julia waved back. She loved him already.
Shadow jumped off Julia's shoulder, his illusion fluttering its wings before he hit the ground. The green Pidove cooed again, which Shadow returned, and started running around Julia's feet. Julia laughed as Shadow joined him. She had to take this little guy with her.
She knelt down. Shadow stopped in front of her, and the Pidove crashed into him, causing him to stumble forward as his illusion broke. The Pidove tilted his head to the left, trying to figure out what had just happened.
Julia reached forward to give Shadow a reassuring scratch behind his now-exposed ear. "You wanna come with us?" she asked the Pidove.
The Pidove's head tilted right now. His eyes fell on Julia's prosthetic leg, which he hopped forward to examine with a curious coo, Julia's offer already forgotten. Shadow tensed under Julia's fingers; she continued scratching him to calm him down and used her free hand to reach for an empty Poké Ball.
"Well?" she asked, holding it out for the Pidove to examine.

Julia (sort of) uses a regular Poké Ball!
