Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
Swarms close at 11:59pm on the last day of each month. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.
Pawniard were tiny little knife Pokemon, and Juni could respect that. She normally wouldn’t have bothered hunting one down, but they just so happened to be swarming down a path she was headed already. Off to the Grumble Volcano again to collect some data. Might as well see if she couldn’t catch something in the meantime. Yeah.
That was, at least, until she got caught in a Kyogre damned storm of all things. Thoroughly soaked, she’d gone back to Birch very briefly to assess her options. After some hesitation, she decided to change into some waterproof sweats and a long rain coat and deck Blades out in a plastic rain poncho before heading back out again. Now the Absol was running through with her rider gripping on for dear life. This was a mistake. Juni was aware this was a mistake. But Groudon damn it, she was going to go with it.
It turned out Blades actually liked this weather. It actually reminded her of Route 119 back in Hoenn. Go figure.
Ugh this wind and rain and cold was so so so so so so so bad. Juni was so tempted to have Blades turn around and go back, but she’d committed to this. She’d committed, and now she was stuck doing it. All she could hope for was Blades found one of these Pawniard soon, and then maybe they could find shelter somewhere or go back to the Pokemon center even.
It would be Blades who noticed the Paniward, though. The Absol’s heightened senses were just enough to have her catching on to something, and as she slowed, Juni sat up and looked around. Where was it? Where could it be— Ow. Blades looked down. A very tiny Pawniard had just Metal Claws her foot. It was… it was right in front of her.
“Blades??” Juni asked exasperated. The Absol backed up and then shifted around to show her trainer what she had found. Juni stared for a moment before actually seeing it. “Oh wow….” It was… a tiny knife. That was… adorable??? At least until it gave another Metal Claw to Blades’ legs and had her backing up again. “You ok to battle?” Blades gave a small cry. She felt a little bad for battling something so small, but clearly the Pawniard had no reservations about battling something so large. “Ok….”
A Slash was ordered, and the Absol just sort of lifted her paw and slammed it down on the Pawniard who cried out startled. Getting up again she was not down yet! And a Metal Sound assured both Juni and Blades of this. Another Slash was ordered, though, and the tiny Pawniard went crushing into the ground again. Juni winced and dropped the Pokeball from her seat atop the far larger Absol.
On hearing what the new swarming Pokemon was on Route 7, this time Pawniard, Sid felt more than lucky. These little Pokemon and their evolutions were knightly, and having one would be the equivalent of having a knight ready to go in a LARP setting. Of course, among other things. Slowing down their usual trek from Birch to Fuji, they dismounted and returned Lord their Drampa, and started to search on foot instead. Red eyes searched around the frosty landscape searching for any signs of the small knife Pokemon.
Sid walked for a while with no luck. Were they really supposed swarming? And then as if on some unknown cue of mental thought, one stepped right out from the brush and stared at them. And she was huge. Sid blinked a couple of times wondering if they had misread that one figure in the book. Weren’t Pawniard supposed to be relatively small? Still.
“I love your blades!” Sid complimented— causing the Pawniard to go from a protective stance into something… much more confused. Easing up and staring at them, she tilted her head from one side to the other. “I’m a huge fan of swords… and having blades for arms is pretty great.” Now they were just making her blush. “I actually have a blade of my own you might like to meet.” Oh? What was this? A flash of light revealed— Oh. A Honedge. The Pawniard blushed a bit again. He really was a sword. “Do you want to battle?” Yes, yes she did.
And the sound of metal on metal clattered through the forest thereafter. Slash, swipe, cut, clang. Excalibur got in a Swords Dance before immediately going for hack and slash mentality. The Pawniard was not so lucky, only able to use a Metal Claw that Excalibur was already resistant to. Still, it was a lot of metal, and both were very defensive and capable of going for a while. Sid waited, occasionally giving orders, bust motly waiting for a chance to throw a Pokeball. When they saw an opening, Sid chuckled the Pokeball at the Pawniard.
Riding Freda towards Route 7, Koray was eager to see the Pawniards in the area. Swarms were always exciting after all, and he was feeling good enough to try and fight one of the Pokemon. Besides, Pawniard looked quite a bit like knights and that was one of Koray's favorite things for a number of reasons. If he could find one and train one, it would be a nice addition to his team. Rowan was by his side like always and both Absol and Phantump were on the lookout for one of the swarming Pawniard. Thankfully the weather was cooperating so far, but how long that was going to last remained to be seen.
It didn't take long before Rowan was pointing out a... rather large Pawniard. Was that normal for the species to be that big? Koray couldn't quite remember, but he was definitely in love with color of the Pawniard. Such a beautiful girl. It seemed the Pawniard had caught sight of them as well and stopped to stare. Rowan of course was the first to swoop in and greet the Pawniard. Koray smiled at seeing the Phantump with the Pawniard chattering away. The Pawniard didn't so much as bat and eye but took everything in stride. Such a gentle spirit. "You're so beautiful," Koray mused, eliciting what could very well have been a blush from the Pawniard. That was adorable, really.
Rowan was quick to agree which only made the blush that much brighter. Koray chuckled softly before fishing out a ball. "Would you like to come with me, princess?" The Pawniard's eyes grew wide at being called that and nodded without another word, disappearing inside the ball as she pressed the button.
Well, so much for the easy way. It appeared that the Pawniard still wanted to be wooed. The stab at him told Koray that even if the Pawniard was gentle and hadn't immediately started to attack, it wasn't a good idea to press his luck. Unfortunately for the Pawniard as soon as she lunged forward, Rowan went on the defensive. A Power-Up Punch would be aimed at the Pawniard who was promptly thrown backwards. Ouch... That wasn't how he'd wanted to do things. Well, he'd still throw the Mammoth Ball and hope for the best. If not... well, Rowan was more than ready to protect him. He'd have to talk to the Phantump later about this.
What was this Pawniard made of? No sooner had the Mammoth Ball closed around her, that she burst out of the ball and even cut it up. There was no salvaging that ball. Rowan was having none of the aggressive display and gave another Power-Up Punch to the Pawniard. Again, the Pawniard was sent flying and Koray was starting to worry about her. This was one warrior that wasn't going down so easily. Rowan huffed and puffed, floating protectively in front of Koray while Freda looked warily at the Pawniard. The Absol hadn't reacted, perhaps she knew that this Pawniard wasn't a threat? "Rowan, relax. She doesn't mean me any harm." The Phantump glowered at Koray as he approached the Pawniard with another mammoth ball in hand. "I see you're a great warrior, princess. I would be honored if you'd join me," he mused, smiling while offering the ball forward. Please stay in the ball... If the Pawniard got struck again, Koray worried what might happen.
Pawniards were strange little Pokemon. Much like the chess pieces their names came from, they served a leading Bisharp, and each one apparently dreamed of becoming the leader of its "pack" one day. Maeve supposed there were plenty of Pokemon who followed this sort of structure with their evolutionary forms, but Bisharp were known for being pitiless and cruel. Why follow something like that? Why strive to become something like that. Maeve wasn't here to judge Pokemon on their life choices but sometimes she had to look at the pokedex entries and sigh a saddened sigh.
Poor things.
They were part of the Human-Like egg group, which was one of the more exclusive categories of Pokemon egg groups--almost as much so as the Dragon one that her future Druddigon would inherit--so it would be interesting and prudent to have one in her party. Luck be with her in looking for one that wasn't in a pack, though. She didn't think she had enough fire-power to take on more than one at a time...

Look, yes, Dark-types were one of her favorites ever and Steel-types were her mains, but do you know what's even better than a Dark-type or a Steel-type?
A Dark/Steel-type hybrid.
Hells yes!
Pawniards were a hundred and one percent Senara's aesthetic. They were sharp, they were vicious, they were just overall perfect for her! And it was one of the few Dark-type Pokemon who weren't brought to their knees by Fairy-types. So when there was news that a pack of them was roaming around route seven she practically leaped out of her seat to get there. In truth she'd actually flown there maybe ten minutes after-the-fact but who was really keeping track. She wasn't overly excited about this. Obviously not.
But she really really REALLY hoped she would get one, because she could just see it in her line-up of Pokemon. Hopefully it and Baby Girl would get along...even if Pawniards were her jam, if they didn't get on well with her baby, they'd probably not get a lot of use.
After all there was only one Dark-type that had her heart.
...no matter how cool these little bastards looked.
